It was a business trip so only slept there but breakfast was lovely. Excellent location too!
The hotel was lovely , very clean and tidy with friendly helpful staff. The room was lovely and modern. The pillows were a bit to big for me would be the only thing.
very unfriendly staff, and the whole hotel needs urgent refurbishment.
very helpful excellent staff temperature control in room, high charge for telephone
location staff on reception
The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The TV was dated and had a very limited number of channels.
The room was nice but only after complaining about the first one i was given. Having booked a king size room i was disappointed at the size of the room I was alocated. After complainijng this was soon rectified and i was given a larger room.Breakfast was not a pleasant experience. had to queue for ages, bit like being in a holiday camp. Not becoming of a four star hotel. restuarant tables were far to close together and this made for an impersonal atmosphere. The staff appeared to be doing there best under difficult circumstances. They remained polite throughout.
Check-in and check-out was easy and efficient 1) Bedroom sash window was loose fitting and so rattled in the wind. 2) Goods being received (or moved) below my window at 06:30. 3) Ancient 14in portable TV as far away from the bed or easy chair as it was possible to locate it.
We were upgraded to a suite, which was wonderful. The staff were very helpful and the location is excellent.
Excellent service. Great breakfast.
location was excellent, had an appointment at the uclh hospital. Service from staff at front desk, valet parking and room service was very good indeed. Negatives are although we arrived later than planned and had wanted to order hot food, when we called at 10.55pm we were told hot food was finished! The advertised finish time is 11.00pm in room service info, I know it is only five minutes but when you have travelled 5 hours and did order before the end time, bit frustrating. The stay to be honest was spoilt by very slow and unmotivated restaurant staff, No welcome from staff in restaurant, had to wait by a table whilst he took all the cutlery off a fully layed table next to our table, why not just seat us on the table that was already layed??!! Did not expect a hotel as this to be unprofessional at all.I expected better for breakfast than the experiance we had, being hoteliers ourselves.
Clean, warm and self-contained, good television. Nothing really, but it would be great to have a shower cap in the bathroom!
Location -we were travelling from Euston station
the breakfast and the newspapers
The hotel is located very near to Euston Station which makes it ideal for business or city break. There's no free internet and you cannot use your BTOpenzone account there. However if you walk to the Thistle, 50m up the road, you can use BTOpenzone and it's fast.
Breakfast was good value.
Quiet room No hairdrier supplied in room. Shower gel empty
Clean and functional Overheated room
The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the room was excellent value for what we paid. The new shower room within the suite was amazing.
the proximity to the public transport services. The cleanness of the premises. The smiles on the staff's faces. a hairdryer in the bathroom will be convenient as well as a beberages dispenser machine at each floor.
The bar and restaurant were a pleasant surprise in a low cost hotel We should have put out the sign asking not to be disturbed as house keeping staff knocked on the door at 8am and continued to knock every half hour/45 mins until we checked out - but it was our fault.
It was easily the nicest place to stay for the money in a very expensive city. We were able to get a room for 3, queen and single (for daughter), PLUS really excellent buffet breakfast included, for 110 pounds night. It is 1 block from Euston Station so it is convenient for those not taking cabs. It was very clean and comfortable, with all basic amenities, and some extras (hairdryer, flat screen tv). Newly and nicely redecorated in simple modern style. The rooms are not large, but more than adequate. Nice large window with clear view and ventilation. All rooms for guests are on third floor. Two lower floors are reasonably priced housing for international students from abroad. Only third floor is for guests. Also has facilities for smaller sized conferences. Neighborhood not fancy but bustling. The amazing British Library and St Pancras St are right down the street. A deal!
location tv channel selection
Very clean, comfortable and quiet. 2 minutes walk from Euston Station.
Great location right next to Euston station. Clean modern rooms.
good location good breakfast
Handy Location Unfriendly staff - tiny rooms
My daughter became ill and the hotel gave her a room extension at no additional cost.
Excellent value for money for London! Great room and I'm not surprised by it's 4 star rating. It's run by the Methodist church, but you wouldn't notice besides the name of the place.
The room is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is fine, but the coffee machine and toaster work not well.
I have now stayed twice and have booked again. Everything is good; the food, the staff, the atmosphere, the location. There is nothing that I didn't like about my stay.
The staff were very pleasent and efficient, rooms were OK for London Unfortuantley the hotel is undergoing renovation at present although there were no sounds of this you could see it, the rooms were tired and needed painting and renovation, the reception was very old fashioned and basic. The breakfast was basic and the breakfast room was functional but I hope that once its all finished it will look and feel a different place.
The Location was great , 10min walk , right into Oxford street, under grounds etc. Breakfast was ok, value for money. Very poor toilet / bath room s, only only one toilet / shower per 8 rooms. Need more toilets / showers , very basic in side. The bathrooms / showers , only one toilet & shower to every 8 rooms , need more of these , for the amount of people staying their. I had to wait 25 mins to go to the toilet ?
Central Too small!
I was able to book a room near to Euston station after being stranded due to all trains being canceled. Bed was comfortable. Poor condition of room - door would not lock, dirty curtains, cupboards falling apart, TV was working but reception was noisy on all channels. Noise from other residents. Did not attempt breakfast. Poor reception staff (one occasional overwhelmed person).
At least it was clean No shower or bath. Had to share a loo!! (First time in 40 years!) Room below pavement level. Very thin walls. Should have left immediately but it was very late when I saw all this.
You get what you pay for I wish I had more money for a better hotel
It was clean , and warm. The number of shared bathrooms to rooms iks not made obvious enough in the description
I like the breakfast most. The triple room is too small, but since I stayed there only one night, it's ok for me.
I liked the location. it's close to Euston station and about 15 minutes walk to the centre point and British museum I didn't like the behaviour of the kitchen staff. Their English was poor and they were rude in treating me when i asked them about more bread. Also, they don't care about customers' needs.
location was ideal, staff were pleasant and room was basic but clean.
It was very close to the metro station, and it was in the centre of London. The bathroom was poor, and the toilet didn't work. The breakfast was the same each day.
Great central location , room very comfortable with fab bathroom . Breakfast very good ,well presented & freshly cooked .On our first night of arrival we had a lovely meal in the resturant , food of high standard & again service very good . The only one negative would be the lack of ashtrays outside , as smokers we are happy to go outside but it would have been nice to have cig bins rather than the pavement .
Good Location no
Would not recommend this place. For a weekend getaway this place was quite the obstacle course to conquer with the staff not expressing any concern or compensation for our feedback. 1. We could feel the coils through the matters and the was unable to get a decent nights sleep. 2. The shower kept oscillating between cold and scalding hot every 10 seconds which made that experience dangerous and unpleasant. 3. The room was a squeeze. I hit my head on the bedside table in my sleep as we were given their tiniest room. How ever the bathroom was almost the same size of the room so maybe this was meant to be the disabled persons room. 4. The giant bathroom is installed with a window skylight which shines through the glass door of bathroom and lights up the room by 5 am.
comfortable bed; good WLAN Too expensive
Room clean and comfortable and quite. No restaurant facilities - closed offered sanwichesw or bar meals only, asume this is not the norm
location, room cleanliness very little natural light in room. uncomfortable seats in bar
Rooms are very small.
the bed and the delgihtful room service person who delivered my meal. She was very helpful. I didn't like: 1. the 45-minute wait to check in even though I was the only person there; 2. the inedible omelette I ordered from room service and its inadequate replacement; 3. being unable to get breakfast in time to go to my conference because all the tables were full.
Excellant efficient staff. Modern feel. Very good breakfast. Will definately be back. An outter facing room next time please but a minor point.
the lobby & the restaurant - friendly staff wifi service does not work everywhere - rooms are very small in relation to price - downstairs conference facilities technology: air co in the breakout rooms is either too hot or too cold, microphones either too loud or can't hear
Very very small rooms. No space for clothes etc.
Location is excellent and if you are lucky enogh to not meet Osphaldo (duty manager) you can have a good stay I have arrived late night after long travel to Premier Inn - London Euston 1 Dukes Road – I had a reservation done by bookings.com web page. Duty Manager (Osphaldo) was very strict and almost impolite. Hotel had no information form booking.com system with my additional room requirements. Also it appeared afterwards that Duty Manager was unable to issue an invoice other than default system receipt. My company data could not be located on the receipt. This means for me that I might not be reimbursed for my stay in Premier Inn Hotel. Duty Manager did want at all to helpful to solve problem of invoice/receipt. He even said “You are not the first and not the last person that have these kind of problems”.
just the price of parking
The staff were extremely helpful with travel information etc and even though busy always smiled and very courteous The restaurant was too small for breakfast time with all the people staying in the hotel wanting to be up and out at the same time
clean, comfortable, friendly staff, nice breakfast, overall good price/quality ratio
Decent room, good breakfast, late bar.
Easy to get to
We were very happy that there was a room where we could store our baggage once we had checked out, so that we didn't have to carry it around with us whilst we were sight-seeing. Breakfast was very good despite the fact that we hadn't previously booked one. The reception area could be more warm and welcoming , with a bigger reception desk and more staff on duty.
Baggage storage was very useful. Staff helpful and breakfast good. Very noisy on Friday night, party at pub opposite!
Close to euston anf kings cross. Nice breakfast. The staff were not sure how to deal with any sort of non-classical complaint. The smiles suddenly disappear and the tone changes.somehow the warmth seemed so artificial and short lived. You learn to just check in and go to your room and avoid any discussion and accept things. The idea of being locked out of your room with your luggage in it by cancelling your eletronic key as a subliminal message to alert you to pay your new night without any call or message to you is so weird and so un-british like.
Ease of payment and book-in, restaurant on site, helpful staff, safe environment. I likes everything.
Our room was quiet and we had free bottles of water. 1.Bath was dangerous - no handle to get in and out by. 2.My friend was adressed as a man when going in for dinner on Sat night. On telling the young lady member of staff her error (my friend was actually a woman)she just giggled. We decided not to complain on this occasion.
The service from very friendly staff was excellent, room fittings comfortable and spacious. Room service and food excellent. Good breakfast. Hotel very convenient location. Room was on ground floor facing onto the hotel restaurant so no outside aspect. Made room feel very claustrophobic. Room was extremely hot and subsequently air conditioning needed to be on which was noisy.Resulted in poor sleep.
close to St Pancras International & conference venue (BMA); relaxing and lovely dining room; laid back bar street noise bedroom on ground floor (room 95)
The bathroom. My room was far too hot and stuffy. I needed a good night's sleep in advance of a meeting the next day and I woke up every two hours because it was so hot. At one point it was 25.5 degrees C. I tried adjusting the air conditioning and at 2am called down to reception for help and they sent up a fan. The window would only open a crack and that let in all the traffic noise rather than cooled down the room. The coolest it got was 23.5 degrees C. I was very disappointed as I'd expected a comfortable environment.
Clean hotel, fresh smelling, lovely balcony Very small room, not particularly good value for money, other similar hotels in area priced lower
Nothing We were informed on check in that we had been "upgraded". We were put into a smoking room, even though our booking stipulated a non smoking room. The reason we booked the hotel was to have a good nights sleep after a long flight. We did get any sleep as we could hardly sleep frojm tghe smell of smoke in the room. It was a complete waste of money.
the staff was very helpful in providing assistance and directions for getting around the city and getting transportation set up for our convenience the furnace made a loud noise when it was coming on and made it difficult to get a good night sleep
Not enough TV chanels, Noisy room from street, very expensive internet
staff pleasant bedroom tiny, far too cramped for 2 people & didn't have fridge & safe as advertised on web site, hair dryer not working
Very friendly and easy going, like staying in a country B&B but in the city, loved it.
A real treat, nice and clean, furnished very well, the staff were friendly and helpful. The downstairs lounge was a really nice place to sit, given that the room I had was a little small (fine for 1 night). A great example of how a budget hotel can be done really well. The room could not really be classified as a double room. It is a single room with a 4'6" bed pushed into a small space. You couldn't have had 2 adults with suitcases standing up at the same time in that room.
Location and staff were fantastic.
Man who checked me in Rushed out the hotel 20 minutes prior to leaving. Not being told the wifi password
The hotel gives good value for your money. It is clean, well-maintained and has free Wi-fi. The staff is very friendly, courteous, professional and accommodating. The room and bathroom are quite small.
Very clean and tidy.Staff very helpful and efficient None
Staff was friendly and make me feel relax during my stay. And the whole place was so clean including my room. Before booking the place, I have compared with many places on the same price range. This one has got the best review and I was not disappointed. By the way, the search on google map will show that the hotel was Torrington place but it's actually on Gower Street. It's just at the corner from where the search take you so don't worry you won't get lost. I recommen you use street view and that will show you exactly where it is. -
Host was very nice, hotel was pleasant, free internet access was very useful. Room was clean and well-supplied. Room was very, very small, with a bed pushed up against the wall and no room to move around. Traffic noise was very loud. I got little sleep.
Wireless internet was not working during stay - one of the main reasons for booking this hotel.
Efficient, convenient and spotlessly clean. Remarkably value for Central London. I particularly liked the free internet access in the lounge.
The location is excellent for us (near the British Museum, U of London, Kings Cross, Euston, and St. Pancras stations. Rooms are comfortable, lighting is good, TV is good, we like the bar, it is near good food shops and walking distance to most other things we want to see or do. The breakfast is boring -- hasn't changed since the 1970s. Also, it is a good idea to use the hotel safe for money or valuables as the staff is large and ever-changing. We were robbed several years ago by one of the cleaning staff .But the positive features outweigh that one instance. In some rooms there are design issues with the bathroom - we had a faucet that shot water on the floor because it was too far from the sink. But given London prices, we still feel the Tavistock is a good deal.
The staff, reception, and housecleaning were all very good, and my room was cleaned well. Excellent location. If you need to do anything with the University of London, it is a wonderful location and value, and there is free continental breakfast or a more traditional English breakfast for more money. Train (underground) goes straight to Russell Square from Heathrow and the hotel is a couple of blocks from that station. It's so conveniently located, and there are plenty of little markets and places to eat if you need water, snacks, an adapter, etc. Very tourist friendly location. I had an allergic reaction to their sheets and/or bed. I fear it was bed bugs because I did see a small seed like dark brown casing, but it could also be the detergent in the sheets, or dust. I had hives for three of the four nights I was there and only while in the bed. They changed my room immediately once I told them, but it persisted. I was fine and without hives while not in the room, but woke up with them everyday. It made me nervous about staying there again. It seems I had an allergic reaction to bed bugs and/or their sheets, and they didn't seem surprised when I called down about it, but I got a new room right away. Service was good otherwise.
The location is amazing, 5-10 min walk fro st pancras intl and 5 min away from the underground. No toiletries (only soap, so BYO everything), continental breakfast is basically bread rolls, toast, tea and coffee, cornflakes and jam.
Location Staff not very friendly or helpful (with the exception of the greeter at breakfast) Strange taps in the room that were reminiscent of those in a hospital so you couldn't wash your face in the sink without stabbing out your eyes Rooms looked very old and tired, in need of renovation The hotel itself was very hot and the rooms were hotter. We asked for a fan but it didn't help much The shower head was located at my thigh height. I am 6ft 4ins tall; but that's ridiculous... Very small and slow elevators No Internet connection in the rooms and the Internet connection in the reception area wasn't that good Did I say the staff were not very friendly
the breakfast is perfect. the cleanlesss of our room was ok. room was so small.
Excellent service, general cleanliness, convenient location, good selection at breakfast and very competitively priced Bed was rather too hard for our liking, and rooms are very small.
bar staff very good plus reception to much road noise from police and ambulances
The proximity to Euston Station. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the continental breakfast was convenient and no-fuss
The convenient location - this made all of the difficulties and disappointments worthwhile (just about) The very small room, the shower that doesn't spray, the television that doesn't work - and the rather unpleasant smell in corridors and dining room.
Very convienient location, easy acces by tube, good breakfast small room
friendly staff rooms were smaller than picture might indicate
Although very small the room and bathroom were very clean and tidy. For the price paid the room was tiny. The traffic noise from outside was incredibly loud. The main reception of the hotel was shabby and the glass front doors had been smashed and were held together with tape.
The breakfast was good and plenty of it with very efficient staff on hand. The space in the bedroom and ensuite was a bit tight.
close to london centre and tube station lack of parking, close to hospital
warm ok room small bed dining room far too small had to wait for breakfast and although breakfast small ok but 1 day only had 1\2 a sausage
Location, breakfast, friendly staff, wireless internet Room was ridiculously small. Pathetic, really, given the price (average of 80 pounds per night). Good only if staying for a couple of days. The water pump/pipes are amazingly noisy. Every time you or your neighbour use the bathroom a disturbing sound comes from the bowels of the hotel. Finally, the walls are so thin that you can hear coughing, sneezing and yawning from the rooms next door.
Staff were friendly and breakfast was very good. Stair carpet was rather worn
Ease of booking in. Occasional noise from people going to breakfast.
great location, nice breakfast, helpful staff, ensuite rooms very noisy (room facing Gower Street), windows not well sealed, carpet and drapes seem a bit dirty.
Location, location, location. Location was great. Staff were very friendly. As a single woman traveller, I felt very safe at this property. Great breakfast. Single room was very small but functional and clean.
None. The quality of this hotel was awful.
Clean, comfortable, staff attentive. The TV was in a world of its own, the remote was scrambled and no instructions to sort it out.
Nice breakfast room very small room
Convenient location in central London for a decent price. Rooms are small -- but we didn't really notice because it's London, so we used it only for sleeping and to change clothes. Internet connection was spotty at best.
Hotel Cavendish is typical for the line of hotels of this type in this part of London. Smallish rooms, small bathrooms, no elevator, breakfast served downstairs. Exactly what you'd expect if you had stayed in this type of hotel before. Staff was nice and friendly, but... But you also get what you pay for. This hotel's price was lower than the surrounding hotels and it was appropriate. Clean and nice, but not very well maintained. Our room had curtains missing half of their hooks, the breakfast was served with instant coffee in a french press. Nothing bad, but not a bit elegant. So appropriate value for the money. Because of this I would happily stay here again, but don't expect the Savoy.
The breakfast was good The noise from traffic outside. Hotel was on a main road.
The only thing i liked about it, it is close to Russel square underground station Stuff unfriendly, rooms are unclean with bad view and some electric power sources are not working, WiFi is not available in the rooms and i have to go down to restaurant to get a signal. Breakfast was of very low quality
The price is good and is close to the subway station and near many important places There is not internet and the doors make a lot of noice when they get closed.
The location was excellent!
Excelent location. Friendly staff. Clean and big (!) room (room number 5). Very nice decor. Good breakfast.
Location, quietness During our stay the temperature was fine but I would suspect that the room is very hot in summer since there is no airconditioning.
Hotel is in a great location, just around the corner from Euston station, and Euston Square tube, very handily placed for theatre, Covent Garden, everything on hand or just a very short subway ride away. Friendly staff serving a good breakfast. Priced just right for London, getting what you pay for, no more no less really.
Large room. Quiet. Friendly.Great location. Small shower room, although new and all worked. A lot of stairs to the top rooms.
The breakfast provided was traditional and good. The lady in charge was very pleasant The "hotel" is best described as a large "bed and breakfast" There is no lift so getting our luggage to the fourth floor room (eight flights of stairs) made up for a lost visit to the gym. Of real issue is that the Phone system in the room had a constantly blinking message light. I enquired several times but was told that they would send some one to fix it. Since I was expecting to connect with a colleague while in London I asked several time if I had any messages and was told "no". On my return to Canada, I my colleague informed me that he attempted repeatedly to leave a message - at least 4 calls and was told that they would nmot take a message. The room was very small and really only suitable for someone travelling light.
The room which overlooking the garden is so lovely ! Besides, the staff is very nice and helpful ! The location of this hotel is convenient for sightseeing. There is also a great Waterstone's bookstore just near it. The shower room is small, but it's very clean.
Breakfast was cooked to order. traffic noise, but no more than to be expected in a busy city
