Your guide to booking London flights

From booking to airport arrival, find tips to help you plan your flight with more confidence.
  • For the best chance at a low fare to London, aim to book around 21 weeks before you fly. That window historically saves about 25% versus last-minute pricing based on KAYAK booking data over the last 12 months.
  • For flights to London, recent KAYAK data shows that stronger deals tend to be around RM 2,704 return. If you see a fare below that threshold, it's a good deal – book before the price climbs back up.
  • If you can choose when to go, aim to travel to London in November. Return fares historically average RM 2,785 that month – typically the cheapest month to travel based on the last 12 months.
  • Before you book:

    • Check the route's typical price range so you can spot a deal.
    • Confirm baggage fees and seat selection costs on budget carriers.
    • Verify whether you need any travel documents beyond an ID.
    • Pick a departure airport, since your nearest may not be the cheapest origin.
  • Shift your departure to morning to save up to RM 515 per return. Morning flights to London average RM 3,093 compared to RM 3,608 for midday flights. See the time-of-day chart above for the full breakdown.
  • Bag allowances vary by airline, fare type, cabin class, and route. On flights to London, some airlines may include bags at no extra cost. For example, Malaysia Airlines includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy class, British Airways includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy class, and AirAsia X includes a cabin bag in Economy class. Always check the fare details before booking, since bag policies can change by ticket type.
  • Once you arrive in London, a few great places to start are Paddington Station, Hyde Park, and London Victoria Station. These are popular with first-time visitors and can give you a good feel for the area.
  • London City Airport (LCY) is closer to the centre of London than Heathrow International Airport (LHR), but you may want to consider choosing Heathrow as transportation options are faster. The Heathrow Express train has a travel time of just 15 min to the city centre for a one-way ticket of £37 (≈ RM 197). Book your transport from the airport to the city ahead of your arrival to save cash.
  • Tourists and families may want to consider travelling to Gatwick Airport (LGW) instead of the larger Heathrow Airport as immigration times and delays tend to be shorter at LGW. Gatwick also boasts more flight options and cheaper flights while being a smaller airport, making it easier to navigate.
  • Try Heathrow Airport’s Luggage Transfer service, a convenient and stress-free way to travel and make the most of your time in London. Drop-off and collect areas are located at Excess Baggage Company Left Luggage locations in every terminal. Prices start at £45 (≈ RM 240) for the first bag, increasing in £10 (≈ RM 55) increments for every additional bag.
  • Heathrow Airport has lots of entertainment to keep children busy. Stay & Play areas can be found in several terminals and also have separate areas for babies.
  • On-site hotels are available in Heathrow, Gatwick, Southend and Stansted—ideal if you’re arriving late or think you might need accommodation at the airport.
  • Heathrow Airport has several spectator areas that provide great views of the runways. The best is View Heathrow in Terminal 4, which has binoculars and information touch screens.
  • If travelling by Underground or Docklands Light Railway into London, purchase an Oyster card (an electronic travel card that can be reloaded and used on various modes of public transportation in the city) to save money on your trip.

Very bad service and food variety will never come back again

My baby was with me it was really good experience with emirates

Fantastic as ever. Great staff super catering and excellent service.

Flight and entertainment great. Food needs to be improved, only one choice on the menu. Staff worked well throughout.

Crew were excellent and the bar service and chat fantastic. Cheese board delicious. Amenity kit good, very disappointing not getting pyjamas on this leg of the flight and needed to reuse from earlier flight.

Hospitality is good. Should improve on buggage handling because l lost a suitcase. Layover in Dubai was too long , 6 hours

Everything was superb, only bad point was that the fast track on London Heathrow arrivals was not handed out to me and I had to go back to the gate to collect it.

Superb experience. I hope they bring back the fast track option at Heathrow immigration.

I liked theAVML food. Taste was alright and quantity was enough. Sometimes during the flight I felt that the smell from toilet was coming to the cabin

You can improve in many ways First the crew in general is good, but needs to work with passion to their works not like robots Second, collecting the ear headphones long time before landing is strange The crew should deal with the passengers with respect and descent way not like giving orders

Feral children not being controlled by Turkish parents should be addressed by crew rather than allowing them to disrupt the passengers around them. The flight is a paid service and poor behaviour should be addressed.

The in-flight experience was excellent, the meals served were high quality and plentiful. The cabin and seats were quite comfortable. However, the Turkish Airlines ground staff were less than accomodating. We made a group booking in November 2025, including (at that time) and unborn baby. Travelled in July 2026 - you would think TA would seat a 'group' together, but not so. On our flights to IST from SYD our family was scattered though the cabin. No bassinet for my grandchild but they said they could provide one at an additional cost. Did we want the mother to sit with the new born? Oh, that's an additional $420 one way because the bassinets only fit in the seats with extra legroom. Want the father to sit next to the mother and child? Add another $420 one way! Ridiculous!

I had issue with my boarding pass. When I arrived in London Gatwick Airport. My e-ticket wasn't scanning and had to do a lot of back and forth with Air Transit I order to board my flight, which I almost missed as a result of this.

The food and drinks were below the normal standard we expect from Turkish Airlines. On a 4 hour flight we received 1 drinks service and 1 food service, the latter was a cheese omlete, which is well below what we have received in the past, such a shame we always recommend this airline..

It was great except my luggage was C severely damaged over i picked it up off the carousel in London. . A suit case that had been used once does no longer have the use of the extendable arm as it’s broken

A fairly standard 2/2 configuration. Boeing 787-9 is modern but the amenities chosen by Turkish for their seats are slightly limited - no in-seat charging, for example. Otherwise, a good flight.

Not sure how they are rated best airline in Europe. If they are the best; then I worry about the overall airline standards of European airlines. Seats were very uncomfortable and almost closer to budget airlines in terms of comfort. A sore bottom after a long haul flight ruins your holiday at the start. Check in process was okay. Staff/crew was good - interactions ranged from pleasant to borderline rude (depending on the particular individual).

Check-in was a mess, transfer flights were sepersted so no one could sit with their company. Some tickets were closed to online check-in without notice hand luggage allowances were not checked so oberhead bins were already full halfway through boarding.

The flight was delayed by 1.5 hours without much explanation and they ran out of complimentary bag for inflight comfort. Would like to know if i can can get compensation

You can understand why Turkish Airlines are rated so highly; the whole experience was really good indeed. Aircraft itself was spacious, comfortable, and very well appointed. The crew were great, friendly and helpful. All round a great service and good value. Istanbul airport is also a remarkable place. Highly recommended.

Over all good experience. Cabin crew should have been more attentive and the food quality should improve.

The first segment from Atlanta to Abu Dhabi was fantastic, but we got downgraded to a different aircraft from Abu Dhabi to Delhi. We were supposed to be on a flatbed business class when we booked it but just about one week before travel, we were changed to A321 Neo, which just has old-fashioned business class seats that recline but don’t go flat. No TV either. While I fully understand that sometimes these changes have to be made for operational reasons, but I asked for some credit or compensation for that and I did not get any anywhere with that

Maybe some more information as to why the flight got delayed I understand may be tell your customers that missiles were fired at a specific airport wouldn't be reassuring to the customers and would cause mayhem but something like recent events have cause a delay on your flight or smth

They lost the baggage and said it was deleted from the system. I had baggage tag so was able to file the complaint but there was no PIR number and update so far

Good service. But on flight to Kochi no entertainment except in app. And no working outlets to charge phone.

It was mediocre. Honestly, the flight was late but that didn’t bother me as I had plenty of time. The only thing that bothered me is that the crew never asked to make the beds for us in business class. Maybe the crew was exhausted and that just didn’t occur to them.

1st time with. Etihad Airways and it was amazing from check in to crew. Great flight.

My wife and I were upgraded to Business Class on our Dublin-Abu-Dhabi flight on the 22nd of January. Being served by "Mariyan" (not too sure about her name, she's from Tunisia) was the real highlight of our flight, she deserves to be working with etihad. We are looking forward to the next upgrade as we are flying back to Dublin on February 01, 2024. If I am not mistaken we have just reached GOLD status as Etihad Guests.

Very unfriendly team. It was very difficult to get a cup of coffee. Legroom was extremely small. Old, dilapidated plane.

Short travel duration. However, I had placed meal preference while booking my air ticket but was given vegetarian meal on board. Food was okay. Not so great. Didn't like Spanish eggplant, cold chickpeas salad. No hot soup was available. Everything cold cold only.

The crews were very professional and courteous. Pleasant flight and thank you!

Overall experience is good but if the food menu can change to authentic Malaysia food will be good. I.e. Nasi Lemak, Char Kueh Tiew and etc

Surprised that the safety briefing was only conducted in Malay language and no English despite there are foreigners on board. MH should take safety more seriously.

Flights were delayed, Food was good but only 1 meal instead of 2.

We are row 11, when the crew came to us, only one meal choice was available.

Comfortable seats in economy, managed a few hours sleep in an o night flight but the food was terrible. Surprising as Malaysia airlines has been good in the past. Service was mediocre this time too.

Vast improvement needed in customer service. I couldn’t get the drink of my choice during both meals (i.e. sparking water and Diet Coke). I had used plastic cups falling onto me from the tray. No eye contact when they thank you on the way out signalling an insincere thank you.

The flight isn’t great, as the plane has faulty with light and noise. It blinks and make noise for 8hrs non stop! Causing health and sensory issues! Causing Hazard matter to all 3 babies that on bassinet seats. This matters affected 12 passengers and the most horrible flight I ever experience. Have been flying with MAS for more 30yrs and this is the worst! Very disappointed

Cabin crew as always are leaps and bounds the crowning glory of MH. Friendliness and natural warmth are such incredible traits. Food was very good on this flight also; and flexibility in meal time to accomodate rest was a plus point. Early arrival and landing as the first morning inbound at T4 LHR meant I was off the plane and in the queue for an Uber in less than 15 minutes!

I asked for more food as i was too hungry or I probably missed MAS onboard food. Both flight-attendants fulfilled my request by giving me both menus - the Nasi Lemak & the chicken noodles. Both tasted very nice. Thanks Mas. I think asked for skyjuice 5x & tomato juice twice

All fine - you get what you pay for ! and it is a bargain

AirAsia kept us waiting for hours due to a technical issue with the plane, then eventually cancelled the flight. Unfortunately there is no-one to call or speak with at AirAsia, no customer service department at all, so I flew with another airline instead. Now I am going through the fun process of trying to get a refund from AirAsia. I strongly recommend that no-one flies with them, it's just not worth it.

The best part was Tony Fernandes actually reinstated the Buttercake menu. It has gone missing after Covid & i made a complaint in one of my Tweets back in October 2022. Both flight D170 & D171 landed very smoothly- kudos to both pilots!

The worst experience in any flight I have ever had, delayed for more than 10 hours, lost my other flight so I lost one day during my trip. Didn’t gave me facilities with my luggage either. Never again

I was next to a quite large person. Soni essentially had 2/3 of my seat for myself and couldn't sit properly. Even though there were some other seat available, the staff refuse that I occupy another seat.

Pros: The staff was very friendly. Cons: Long delay. The food is terrible.

I’m a frequent Traveler on all types of airlines, including budget. This was the worst flight experience I’ve ever had. Something was wrong with AirAsia’s systems and we were the whole flight was rescheduled to the following day, the third flight it happened to. Apart from an email which gave the new date the web and app said the original flight date which meant that there were hundreds of people queueing at the airport to try and find out what was going on. People waited six hours to talk to customer service who gave advice that didn’t match the web or app. Nightmare. just advertising for spending the extra hundred dollars I’ve ever seen.
