Pros: This was an excellent hotel, clean and cosy. Breakfast was first class. Highly recommended.

Cons: Unfortunately it was not as close to the airport as we thought but that was our fault and even this will not stop us booking again the future.

Pros: Although our taxi driver had a few problems to find the correct location of the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to find everything as pictured on the website. All rooms and especially the lounge were very tastefully decorated and radiated calm and peacefulness. We (3 couples) were made to feel very comfortable from the first to the last minute. The bedrooms were well appointed with lots of attention to detail. In spite of the smallness (4 rooms) Margarita made sure that we got a 5-star service including being able to enjoy a night cap late in the evening and an excellent breakfast. Highly recommendable.

Pros: The room was beautiful - spacious, very comfortable bed and lovely soft towels, and very tasteful decor. Our host was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good indeed. The area is quiet and there is free parking on site.

Cons: The blinds don't block out the light completely, so if you are sensitive to light out well wake you early in the morning.

Pros: What a beautiful little place! It seems like it’s far from the airport but it’s quite close! Maybe 5-8 min drive. They arrange a private taxi company which is way cheaper. The host was so lovely and kind. Fresh baked cookies in the room with water. The dinner menu was fabulous! Overall I would stay here again!

Pros: The Maple Manor Hotel was a beautiful structure that was well maintained. Our room was quite clean with a comfortable bed and a powerful shower. Staff was friendly and the continental breakfast included was free, which was good for a light snack in the morning. My husband and I stayed overnight once which meant we had free parking available. A taxi to Gatwick North Terminal was £8 one way (took approximately 10minutes to get there, if so much) which was cheap in comparison to Uber. We would definitely stay there again when we’re flying from Gatwick as it’s an affordable and comfortable room that’s near to the airport.

Cons: The room was on the smaller side but we were only staying overnight so it was fine for our needs. (Just letting readers know what to expect.) Our taxi which they ordered for 8 30am came at approximately 8 45/50am. We had put in the request when we checked in the previous day. While it may not have been at any fault of Maple Manor Hotel, it’s best to book your taxi a bit earlier than you plan to so you won’t be rushing about at the airport. (We we’re still on time for the flight.)

Pros: We arrived at 11.30pm after a cancelled Gatwick flight. The receptionist was welcoming and even helped take luggage upstairs. He was still present and smiling as we left at 6am the next morning. The hotel is just a 15 minute taxi drive from the North Terminal.

Cons: Service was poor, nobody available to check out in the morning and we were keen to get to the airport asap. They also advertise that their kitchen takes orders until 10pm and we were arriving late (9:40) and starving but when we got there they said the kitchen was closed and they couldn't even offer a sandwich. Staff were not particularly friendly.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we are inspired to come back again and explore more of England. This was a layover from Spain heading back to Canada. One night at The Curious Pig In The Parlour has given us some very fond memories. We tell our friends of our stay there. We know some day we will return.

No air conditioning, the room air cooling systems just meant you had a room full of smells from the kitchen. You couldn’t open any of the windows. Breakfast was a buffet affair, which was bordering on cold, no orange juice !!

Cons: Seems like an old hotel with a facelift. The lifts are small and the buttons in disrepair (granted they have a sign on them). We purchased a King room and received a queen. We went back to the front desk to fix but they said the queen-sized bed IS the King size. It was 1am we weren't willing to go through the machinations. Took 6+ mins for the hot water to come through on the sink or shower initially. We called down the first time because the hot water wasn't coming out despite leaving the tap going for 4 mins. The gym is substandard. Looks like most of the weights were second hand. The gym/room was very small and the tvs didn't work. Of course, none of the other hotels near Gatwick has a reasonable gym.

Cons: No way to ventilate the room. Upon arrival, the room was stuffy and warm, with a faint whiff of the previous occupant’s spray deodorant. Windows cannot be opened. Air conditioning system provided no fresh air (recirculating the stale air already in the room), and wasn’t even cooling. I was offered another room but that was the same, albeit this time with a faint whiff of fish. Result was a very uncomfortable night in a room temperature around 25C with no fresh air at all. In the morning, the inside of the window was covered with heavy condensation (photo added) proving the room was filled with stagnant, humid air. We ended up propping open the door to get some fresh air. Complaints to the hotel in the morning resulted in a small goodwill refund. However, the lack of room ventilation seems to be a fundamental problem with this hotel’s structure, which is surprising given the price band.

Cons: You know, I would have to dig to find them, say for instance, the eggs and sausages were not hot, hot, they were well warm - but this is not a complaint, it is the reality of the situation and I am so thankful to have a breakfast. There was not room safe, but we didn't leave any valuables in the room anyhow. Oh, no bus service to the hotel.

Pros: Room was clean, comfortable and pleased that a kettle and tea were provided. Breakfast was more than adequate. Room was your best point.

Cons: Check-in was nothing short of a disaster. I waited 55minutes before getting to the desk to check-in. There was only on person on duty and her workload was overwhelming. She had problems with your booking system and as the queue to check-in built, we were asked to take a seat and wait, while she worked hard to cope with every other enquiry that the hotel had. But, I have to stress she was doing her best and maintained as a polite of attitude as she could, despite angry customers. You must have at least two people on the desk at busy time and I blame you management rather that the girl on the desk. Not Good at all.

Cons: The bed was too soft, incredibly soft. Toilet seat was broken and came off when the lid was lifted. Carpet had lifted on one half of the room. The lamp on the dressing room table didn’t work which at 2am is extremely inconvenient. The extractor fan was switched off when we had a shower and didn’t realise until afterwards. The bedroom window did not open. Parking was ridiculous and we only just managed to get a space as there was a function happening.

Pros: welcomed on arrival as expected, as stayed here before. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good didn't feel rushed - you have to pre order night before - this is good practice so not too much waste and no disappointed customers. I understand that the hotel covers events from wedding receptions,birthdays and even funeral wakes which makes for good business. Wish them all the luck for the future.

I steered clear of breakfast. Worse still, do not stay here as a single female traveller. My room opened up to the street, it was not in the house. Very insecure. Drunk lying on the pavement opposite in the evening. Found dodgy looking man right outside my window at 7am. Waiting for a taxi I was approached by him and 2 other seedy individuals. Horrible experience.

Cons: Many areas showed signs of neglect and were in need of repair or thorough cleaning. In particular, our bathroom needed a renovation. Caulking in tiles was falling out and the pipes were coated with dust.

Cons: The walk from check in to the room is very long but it is a rambling hotel. The room was very warm and couldn't cool it without opening the window onto the parking lot.

Pros: Although the hotel is close to Gatwick it is one junction down the motorway and as a result aircraft noise is not a problem. The restaurant is excellent and good value for an airport hotel. The menu is well balanced and the Italian Restaurant Manager very professional as was our waitress Alina. The breakfast was also excellent with top quality ingredients being used for the cooked breakfast. Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable.

Cons: The hotel is in serious need of refurbishment is many areas and a cosmetic touch up will not sort this out. Carpeting is seriously northern 1950's and our velour clad bed headboard was more homely than hotel like. The absence of a lift to the first floor is a serious issue for guests with heavy cases and we had the bad luck to have a room a long way down a long corridor. The young man on reception did however willingly leave his post to take our cases to the room. The lack of air-conditioning is another issue since having arrived from the 30 degree heat of southern Italy we were baked in our room (411). Windows have opening limiters to prevent accidents and suicides and we could only cool the room by wedging our door open to allow a through draft from the corridor. Having said all this I still enjoyed my stay and I hope my criticisms are taken as constructive and I will stay here again if the hotel will have me.

Pros: Have stayed many times over the years. Arrived back from the states, receptionist Pippa got us into our room early. Relaxed in the gardens, enjoyed the food and drinks in the evening.

Cons: The matress was extremely old with bumps, couldn’t sleep properly

Pros: Clean, comfortable, peaceful and friendly. Excellent, freshly cooked breakfast. Lovely location.

Pros: Good communication. They recommend a local taxi service which is cheaper than Uber and other taxis from Gatwick.

Cons: The bed was uncomfortable. The bedding seemed worn and not fresh. I put a towel on my pillow because I didn't want to rest my face on the pillow case.

Pros: We liked the host Dino who was very helpful.

Cons: We had to share a bathroom which is not my first choice but no other room was available.

Pros: Friendly host, close to airport, quiet location, own bathroom.

Pros: Gino was very polite and friendly, it was quiet and relaxing, has a lovely Little dog . I had a brilliant nights sleep.

Cons: My daughter, who is a property manager, complained about the cleanliness of the bathroom. As I have known the hotel for 60/70 years I was sad that it is no longer The George I used to know, but it was nice to be back and to show my daughter where my husband and I had our wedding reception and where things used to be that don't exist now.

Cons: Room had a funny smell and was stuffy. Had to carry heavy luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Information in room said luggage assistance is available, but it’s a bit late when we have already carried it up. It would have been nice for the desk clerk to offer assistance. The little things that make a hotel stay special, eg shower caps etc was lacking. It is good value for money, but you get what you pay for.

Pros: Very quiet location. Comfy beds. 10 minute taxi ride from Gatwick south terminal.

Cons: There was a little mold on the bathroom ceiling.

Pros: Somewhere to wait for check in close to the airport. It was quiet.

Cons: Extremely basic and felt a little grubby. I didnt want to take my shoes off on the carpet..says it all.

Cons: There was an overwhelming smell of dog in the room. We couldn’t speak to staff due to the time of night returning late following a wedding. We left and put the key in the safe box.

Pros: Perfect overnight stop pre or post flight. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our car there at a very reasonable rate during our holiday and they were very good about our late arrival (2.30 am) due to delayed flight. Would recommend and stay there again.

Pros: The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was OK, but the fish and chips evening meal was very good.

Pros: The main reason we chose this hotel was for its location near to GATWICK airport for our flight very early the next morning. This hotel was perfect for our needs, and was in very pleasant surroundings. We were also able to leave our car at the hotel for the duration of our holiday at a very reasonable cost. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they even pre booked our taxi for us for 3.45am next morning.. We would happily book another stay.
