The renovation last year really upgraded this NYC classic. Now the interiors are just as lux as the classic facade. Great location in Times Square but quiet and tranquil retreat inside. Great service and really friendly staff. We enjoyed our girls weekend immensely. Avoid if you don't like fighting through crowds at Times Square.
Impeccable service Immaculate rooms Excellent location between Times Square and Bryant Park Can't complain about anything.
Great place to stay. Very sheik and hip. Roof Top Bar is out of this world!!!
Clean spacious rooms, good service, not great wi-fi
2 queen beds made this hotel perfect for our family of four. Located right on Times Square, the hotel held our bags after checkout while we went across the street to see a Broadway show.
We came for the birth of my first grandchild.the hotel is very modern and sleek. Our room was large and well appointed with all of the modern technological conveniences. The mattress was very comfortable with high thread count linens. The bathroom was large and had more bath accessories than I have ever seen. I.e. Cuff links, tooth brush, paste, etc. I loved the large soaking tub. We never heard any outside noise even though this hotel is located in Times Square From the front desk to the doorman, the service was incredible. Leilani, one of the managers even gave us a gift for the new baby. I would highly recommend this hotel!
Once you get past the unprepossessing lobby, the hotel is really excellent. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was large, comfortable and well-appointed. It was bitterly cold so we ate in the hotel, choosing the bar's little plate menu over the Vlentine's Day special menu; each choice was delicious. Large, contemporary bar and restaurant (maybe showing a little wear on the cushions) and excellent service. Location, right on the corner of Times Square, can't be beat if you want to be in the middle of it all. Not cheap, but we weren't on a penny pinching trip. Worth every penny. Special mention to the concierge for fulfilling a couple special requests. As noted, the lobby is decidedly underwhelming although the staff was friendly and helpful. Otherwise, no complaints!
The Knockerbocker was a very nice hotel with a great location. My only complaint was the day that we left, we stored our bags for a few hours. When we came back to pick them up, it took 20 minutes or so to get them. I had to catch a flight. The front desk was unapologetic about it. They just stood at the desk, while customers waited and were dissatisfied. They need to make sure they are staffed properly at a busy time, and if not, other staff should pitch in. It should be a group effort, because it makes the hotel better as a whole.
Location was good, not a superior room. Hotel offered a 30% dicount we paid over $200 a night not happy about paying the higher price. Told that I could not get the discount as I had booked through Booking.com Do they have any superior rooms as booked? Very poor quality of rooms offered. From some of the reviews I expected better.
Location and convenience excellent. Rooms very average and generally inadequate space in them.
Very disapointined with facilities and value for money
I loved the position of the hotel and the comfort of the bed. That's all you needed really , it wasn't a big room but you knew That going in , the water was hot for such a big hotel and Whenever l needed help from reception etc it was not a problem. Didn't find the wifi coverage very good.
Location Washer leaked. Never fixed, rubbish can was placed by hotel staff to collect water leak. A third world hospitality handling.
location excellent internal decoration needs updating, rooms and corridors very b asic
how central it was staff seemed to be giving out to people a lot on the day I was there. The staff were efficient but not the friendliest
good service The hotel is to big.
Nothing at all, I will never come back Rooms smelling bad, unacceptable breakfast, big delay for check in,
it is at the center of the city the room quality
Nothing Everything, poor service, not clean, there was hair in the bath, a mouse in my room, rooms need updating. Cues to check in are rediculous. I can honestly say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and will never go again or recommend to anyone. The only positive is the location, and to be honest I would rather stay further out and get a taxi into the city than stay here again
Nice position, good place to stay for shopping, city trip, and broadway shows. Nice view of the city from my room! room could be cleaner, average hotel staff, small room
I have stayed at this hotel in numerous occasions and think its a good location . The front staff at the initial check in were the rudest staff I have ever met.I felt in this occasion they were despicable.I would therefore think very carefully before staying there again !
Good service, central location and not much noise. Missing Internet-café, as we did not bring the lap top with us.
The location is perfect for shopping and sighseeing. Hotel has 2 restaurants serving good quality food. It has a spacious lobby with fast check in and out facilities. It offers security safes at no charge. Security is very strict in the lobby before you enter elevators which makes female travellers feel very safe. There are lots of really good restaurants nearby in 7th Avenue and en route to Times Square. I loved everything about the New Yorker. There is nothing bad about this hotel.
We had a small suite and the room was very spacious, unlike many other NYC hotels. The bedding was not as luxurious as I would have liked. I could have used an extra blanket or two.
The only thing we liked about the hotel was the location. The rooms were very small and filthy dirty. The staff was really rude. It was difficult to understand the English of the people working at the front desk and some of them were nasty.
the New Yorker hotel is in a perfect location for visiting and shopping and we really appreciate this. Maybe the difference of price according to the days of staying. they should make a special offer for those like us who stayed for an entire week.
Good location The hotel felt tired, although to be fair, work is being done to improve it
the fact that is in the centre of NY rooms are very small and avg 200 $/night is too much
VERYy convenient location Rooms a little small - but they're only for sleeping in!!!
I don't think anything has changed in 50 years and it's all very tired. I don't even like modern things really but there is no charm and it feels like the hotel has been ignored for a long time
Everything was perfect
The staff was very helpful and very friendly!
Beautiful space with clean rooms and very good service. We only stayed one night but we look forward to returning.
Check in and out the staff were pleasant. Comfortable beds. Too focused on being trendy. Was advertised as a 4-5 star. More like a 3-4 star No coffee makers in room.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.
My husband and I were traveling with our 2 adult children and their traveling companions, so we booked 3 rooms. All rooms were spacious and comfortable. Decor was trendy, with high end amenities. We loved the rooftop bar and had a great meal at the attached restaurant. Location was perfect. Overall, a great stay. Some of the furniture in the room was showing some wear. And the desk chair was the only chair in the room. Also, the closet was very small. Not enough space to hang our clothes and coats.
The Chatwal fires on all cylinders. Every need is attended to. Expensive, but worthwhile. The bathroom was amazing, but using the shower at full pressure actually caused a bit of a flood. The climate and lighting control is handled by a single touch-screen unit, but its operation is a little complicated. Light-switches shouldn't be confusing.
The decor and availability of room service as well as the location The hotel is very small and cramped. The floor we stayed on had a horrible fried food odor that was overwhelming every day of our stay. I did not feel that the overall quality was representative of a 5-star hotel.
the room makes me feel comfortable the staff is very nice i love staying at Hilton definitely coming back !
the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was very very clean and comfortable . the view was great as well. there wasn't one thing id complain about.
Flexible with checkout, very helpful staff. For the price, breakfast and internet should be included.
Took the wife to NYC for a romantic getaway, and wanted to stay in the Times Square area to be close to theaters. This property was perfect for us! Clean, modern rooms with everything we needed, and all within a short walk to the heart of Times Square. we would stay here again in a heartbeat. On the check in website, I made request for highest floor possible with a great view away from the elevator. We ended up on the 29th floor, corner room at the end of the hall which was everything I asked for. At check in I also requested late check out and was allowed 2.5hours which was perfect for our departure to the airport. this Hilton and its staff were top notch. Thanks! Room was cool, had to crank the thermostat to 80 to get warm . This could have been due to havering a corner room with lots of windows. Housekeeping, unfortunately, turned the heat back to 67 each day so the room was cool'ish when we got back each evening. Not a huge concern.
They don't give you any options or choices for early check in.
Clean, comfortable rooms. Easy access to elevators to rooms. Staff was very courteous & accommodating. No problems.
Location was awesome, and we were upgraded to a deluxe room with sweet views. Definitely worth it. Parking was confusion as address given online did not match where to valet park, which was awful because traffic around Time Square is insane sometimes.
Rooms were large compared to many other hotels in New York.
Good value for being in the middle of Manhattan.
Hotel was excellent - perfect location if you want to be in the middle of the action in NYC. Staff was courteous and extremely helpful. Room size was great, room was clean and comfortable. Excellent value!
Clean, friendly staff, safe location, near Penn Station and Bus/Subway station. High speed elevators were quick and fully functional yet compact room, quality continental breakfast included. All rooms sleep 2 persons. Booked through booking.com and charge for room was not to occur until stay, instead the room was charged immediately, one month before stay. While Elements is a non-smoking hotel, you may encounter some large dogs. Rooms suitable for 2 persons only, would be crowded with a large dog as well.
This is a great little find from my perspective. The staff were all smiley and helpful, the bedroom was modern and clean; everything was thought of, from tea to ironing boards to self catering facilities. The bed was extremely comfortable and the condiments refreshing. Breakfast/coffee was free and delicious - so it was a great place for me on business, but would be ideal for tourists as it's just down the road from Times Sq. Feels boutique because it's small, but extends upwards to around 40 floors! Easy, no nonsense, practical hospitality.
Loved - the location although a bit shady at night due to the gay strip club two doors down, all the free food and drinks although it wasn't the best tasting at least they offered and thats more than you can say for any other hotel in the surrounding areas, the kitchenette came in handy Hated - the elevator situation too many people not enough elevators, the fact that they used a pasenger elevator as a service elevator to hual trash from the guests room...it was filled completely to the top with trash bags and we had to stand there and watch and wait as they got it all out and sprayed and wiped down the elevator so we could finally get back to our room, I did not like seeing so much of the inner workings of the hotel in plain view
Liked our room location (corner, 31st floor) Overcharged for drinks at bar, bottle of water (supposedly free) was not replaced.
We have stayed at the Westin at Grand Central Station before and all of the Westins are very similar. The room was clean and we had a great view facing west over the Hudson River. We stayed out until 11pm and when we came back in the building security was checking everyone to make sure they were a guest. Some might see this as an inconvenience but I see it as very good security considering where we were. We are very happy with the staff and our stay. The air conditioning filter was clogged.
Great location and our view was fantastic. No refrigerators
Great location, great size of room, has a fridge in the room. I
Loved the shower, bed and location. Our room was not cleaned after our first night. The towels were not of equal quality and some had a very odd smell. No water in our room.
Clean. Modern. Comfortable. Lack of parking
The Westin Times Square was great overall*. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was also very friendly and professional. Great location by Times Square. but the facilities outside our room were not. The lobby areas didn't feel safe as there were many people hanging out there that did not seem to be guest and the lobby restroom was a mess.
Everyone was so nice from the bellmen staff and the front desk staff .They helped me and answered any questions I had.
The staff was very friendly and professional. The even remembered us the next day. Evan was wonderful, positive and up beat. Everyone was very helpful, even moved us when our AC was malfunctioning. Rooms were kind of small but then we were in the a limited amount of space as far as the city was concerned.
Decor was great, rooms were clean and mini bar was stocked with great snacks at reasonable prices ($2 per soda). Rooms were small but this isn't unheard of for Manhattan.
Staff was courteous and friendly. Room and bath were clean. Goodies were on the nightstand every evening when the bed was turned down. We walked and took the subway to where we wanted to go. All directions were precise. Subway was 2 blocks We would stay here again.
The staff at the front desk was very friendly.
Clean, elegant rooms, comfortable bed, great shower. Hallway noise came through the door easily.
I'm not one to write travel reviews but I had such an incredible experience here I felt the need to share! Came here for a staycation (roommates, amirite?) slash birthday celebration and our choice could't have been more perfect. In a word, this spot is snazzy. The decor, fixtures and furnishings are reminiscent of the Prohibition/speakeasy era with a modern, chic twist. Just by standing in the lobby you instantly feel a little more immersed in something cool and vibrant. There is a palpable sense of imminent adventure and intrigue here, definitely a boon to kick off your New York City escapade. Inspiration is abundant here! The rooms are immaculately clean, chic and quiet. Bed is ridiculously comfortable and also features hidden storage drawers, so be sure to check under the huge fluffy down comforters they're topped with! There truly aren't enough adjectives to describe just how accommodating and incredible the staff here is. So friendly! Everyone here is a paragon of guest services for competing establishments to emulate. If you're looking for a stylish, urbane backdrop with ubercool yet welcoming vibe to your Gotham City foray, book with confidence at Archer, it is truly a stay to remember! Check out is at 11, not 12. Only downside to this hotel, otherwise it is magnificent.
Beautiful property, well thought out rooms, great amenities and attention to detail. They need to iron out a lot of issues - the hotel is super new so they likely will. Room service is expensive, not very good & delivered in cheap take out containers. Very slow internet - borderline unusable if you're a business traveler. Staff nice and polite but very impersonal,
Room was acceptable Breakfast was a bit ad hoc and lacked taste in order and presentaion
The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Room was cold in November, as heat had not been turned on.
we were checked in really quick . breakfast was enjoyable . staff at reception were realy helpful in directions and questions . dinner was very good in the evening and brendan bar was very enjoyable bar to drink in. but location location location ,would not be beaten heating system was noisy and lifts slow during busy times.but not bad enough to put us off staying here in the future
Perfect location, just a few steps from major stores and 15 min walk to Times Square. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Just two elevators. For some rooms you could not control the heating, just the cooling air.
The front desk staff was excellent. The linens were very nice. Blow dryer didn't work. Called housekeeping for clean towels and replacement blow dryer. Waited an hour. Never showed up. Later they cleaned room and left clean towels but no washcloths. It has potential just have not worked out all the kinks yet.
It's a nice modern boutique feeling hotel. Staff was nice. After a night of jack hammering (location issue more than their fault) there was no hot water at all in the morning. They refunded a portion of my bill but it was brutal. They should consider also soundproofing the Windows more.
They people were great Lack of coffee maker / limited to one coffee per day..
the location was great
the bed was very comfortable and bug free..! could of done with tea/coffee facilities in room though, staff were brilliant.
Very nice staff 206 should be a storage closet! Nestled between two fire doors, starting at 4am, the two fire doors slam prohibiting any sleep!!
Location Rooms on 12th floor could be updated
Well placed,we went a lot to the theatre, conciers and the theather -people were extremly helpful and nice Nothing
location cleanliness and front desk staff
good service and central position for sightseeing and shopping. we waited 20 minutes for somebody to help us with our cases from the 42nd floor to a waiting taxi and nobody arrived. we had to manage 4 large cases on our own.to the waiting taxi..
noice from the peopel who clen the rooms
i loved the location
The hotel was very nice, verrry expensive. Seconds away from the heart of time square. Great experience!! Cost of items were outrageous, but that is probably just New York, Time Square.
Great Location Friendly staff Facilities in the room could be improved e.g. there were no tea/coffee/kettle facilities, no fridge & drinks bar, no robes in the room. The hotel was impersonal, particularly on the ground floor and somewhat tired-looking for a 4 star hotel
Great location!! The hotel was very clean and the staff was really nice and helpful.
Location, staff friendliness, room standards
We liked that we could walk to the Majestic to see The Phantom and the feel that we were in the middle of the city. We were on the 45th floor and we hardly got any sleep. Our neighbors were partying from 11:00 pm-2:00am. Lots of slamming doors and arguing. It was horrible and when I finally called at 2:00 am the person at the desk made it feel like it was my fault for not calling earlier. You need to have security making rounds to insure a pleasant stay for your guests. Plus, it was our 10th anniversary!!!!!
The service was excellent
it was very quiet, good breakfast, staff was ready to help, position in the city, very clean hotel we had reservation in the Strand, but hotel is not finished yet,no notice in internet, not at the adress,so we had to call and faund the sister hotel named South park hotel
The Strand is a great new hotel, in great zone of nyc
Excellent staff, always attentive and friendly.
The proffesional service, the location, the nice bed and the breakfast that was included.
The restaurant was nice. The location is good. The room had a nice view over the Empire States but it had too much noise from the street. The complimentary kits of the bathroom was too poor.
Actually, we were moved to the Park South Location because the Strand was not finished renovations yet. No parking, and when we parked in the recommended lot 2 blocks away, we did not get any discount.
Brilliant location. Value given breakfast was included into price. Very friendly and efficient service. Clean and modern rooms. iPod charger in the room. The air conditioning was a little bit noisy. The rooms were a bit warm at night.
Stayed at this hotel with my mother and 2 sisters on a shopping trip to NY - had a fantastic stay and appreciated the courtesy, help and hospitality shown to us, especially the consideration shown to my Mom - we had a wonderful and memorable trip and would highly recommend your hotel to others.
You can ear a lot of noise fron the streat
Great location for all city shopping and attractions, staff friendly and helpful. Nice clean room and comfy bed.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant was not open and we were not told that prior to our arrival. There was no room service, no refrigerator in room and no mini bar. This was quite inconvenient.
the friendly and helpful staff and a very central location we liked it all
the location is great because I love Bryant Park. Old hotel, but redone kind of modernish. They should have left it old. We had a tiny room that looked out on ugly air conditioners from the other building. I had always dreamed of staying there but was very disappointed .
The hotel is in a great location and our room was much bigger than other hotel rooms I've stayed at in New York. The bed turn-down was too early - before we were back from being out in the day and even when we requested a second turn-down it didn't always happen.
The bedroom was very spacious, well fitted out and quiet. The bed was exceptionally comfortable - the best hotel bed we have slept in. The location at Bryant Park, a short walk from Times Square was unbeatable - nice quiet area but so close to all the noise and action. The hotel dining room (Koi Restaurant) was out of our budget, as were the room service and mini-bar pricing. A good job there were so many alternatives nearby. I can't remember ever having to go out to breakfast before!
I love this hotel. The tech needs a minor facelift. I love the USB ports in the plug ins and alarm, but the Apple connection stuff is a decade old and Apple always changes their stuff just enough that you have to keep upgrading random toys like iPads, which sucks because even an old iPad can do some basic stuff like watch Netflix and control your AirPlay Spotify and those things, which is way more valuable than if you buy an app for a buck and you play it for a week and then check a month later and its third on your list for storage used. So certain things I've had to upgrade and now I'm a plugin short, which is a super first world problem sounding issue. Just sayin', the whole thing seems fishy to me. This hotel is nice. I'd absolutely stay there again, and there's a Blue Bottel coffee like 3 doors down, which is nice because New Yorkers are an amazing group of people that I love, but they don't drink good coffee. There are Starbucks everywhere and they always taste burned (burnt?) to me. Blue Bottle is a bit pretentious, but when you're a great coffee in a great city, you're winning. Also, Bryant Park is across the street from the hotel, and they do a bunch of cool little concerts and stuff in that park, and they keep it clean and there is a solid brunch place in there and a Grill. Oh, yeah, and the elevators at the hotel are some weird cross between a coffin and a bad 70's porno shoot. It's really dark and there may be velvet on the walls, but it's too dark to tell. If you're in there with another person, it's a little tight. A person or two with luggage? Really tight. That's a hard one to fix, though. You'd be out of commission the entire time because it's the only way up. Maybe just brighten it a little bit. The bar downstairs used to be solid and I bet still is, but I didn't go down there this trip. It is Friday night and I just wrote that. That is not a good life sign.
the location of course, the room with the view of the park, the complimentary wine in the cellar the first room was extremly small-we had to upgrade, also while the room was clean what quite often gets overlooked are the dirty finger/hand smudges on light switches,on door frames , door handles etc.I had to use a soapy washcloth to wipe this all down plus the surface of the leather seating
Great location. Rooms are decent size and clean.staff was friendly Hallway is very dark at all times
Location, location, location. The size of the room was a major plus point. We were pleasantly surprised with the huge terrace space given to me (room #1401) and though it only had a partial view of the park, it was quiet for a midtown manhattan hotel. The entertainment planner Katherine was very patient and friendly and she managed to book reservations at Jean George and Gramercy Tavern for dinner and lunch respectively. I stronly recommend the higher floors as there are fewer rooms the higher you go, hence quieter. I think there were only 6 or 7 rooms on my floor. The doorman / bellboy was helpful with luggage and getting cabs. On check out day, there were few cabs available and doorman flagged a passing private limo for us at reasonable rate of US$85 to Newark. Will definitely return to this gorgeous Quintessentially manhattan hotel. not applicable
Relaxed style Staff very helpful
the style of the room they charge more for a 2 bed room because according to them we booked for one bed room. They added 100$ more per night.
Very central, close to everything in NYC, they upgraded us to a junior suite for free. Even if our room was a junior suite, we were on the 5th floor, with an bad view on the AC ventilation (very noisy at night).
Very central hotel, convenient for a city trip Didn't think that the hotel had enough amenities - Bars and restaurants
The room was very large for NYC and comfortable, with a great view. We were upgraded to a suite, at no extra charge because we had an extra person.
