Pros (+) The staff there was friendly.
Cons (-) This is NOT a 3 star hotel. It is very dingy and dirty looking the rooms are way too small and dated. All around it looked like a nightmare. I didn’t want to touch anything. We checked out as soon as we checked in and so did 3 other couples in the short time I was there.

Pros (+) The location was great. The rates were good for that area. The staff was friendly and helpful. The size of the room was actually decent. WiFi worked well. No problem with hot water or water pressure. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable.
Cons (-) The hotel does not look like it's pictures online.... the hotel is very old and in major need of many repairs. The front door is a double door-- one is completely missing a handle, the other handle is loose. That is your first impression. The lobby ceiling is patched and unpainted. Pros (+) There's no hotel anywhere which has a staff who are more friendly, helpful and courteous. This old lady - ( the hotel, not me - well, I'm old, too) - is well preserved, well cared for, and in a perfect neighborhood for experiencing the "Broadway experience." I'll definitely be back again.
Cons (-) A little note with directions as to how to "work" the sink and shower would have been helpful.....but staff helped with that.

Pros (+) The bathroom was spotless and bed definitely had fresh sheets. Maid service was very good. I liked that the hotel had a small room for solo travelers. I did not feel as if I had to pay for more room than I had. The location could not be better. The room was actually very quiet and dark, which made for good sleeping. Pros (+) Great location close to many things to do in NYC.
Cons (-) The toilet flushed really hard, the sink was broken and leaky every time we tried to use it, the shower wasn't very clean, and the tile around the mirror was broken.

Pros (+) We came to NYC to see a few shows on Broadway, and the location was amazing, just steps from the theaters. Rooms were clean. Staff was very efficient and friendly. The room was very small and not at all fancy, but we were just looking for an affordable place to stay near Broadway, and this fit the bill.
Cons (-) Room was very small, barely room for a double bed. It had a unit air conditioner (i.e., no central air) that could only just barely keep up with the 85-plus degree heat. Found one spider in the morning.

Pros (+) We liked that the place was central (just off Times Square) and that it was no frills, as advertised. We needed a place to sleep and this was it. No extras or a lot of space. Air conditioner (necessary!) was working just fine. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place, but if you are looking for a good value for the location, stay at the Mayfair.
Cons (-) The elevator did break down, but we were on the second floor and it was not important to our stay.
