Very clean, large bathroom and super comfy bed!
The hotel was clearly recently redecorated to be hip and modern. I did not realize my single room would consist of a twin bed in a 6 by 10 room. It was half the room pictured. There was no closet, just some small drawers tucked behind the bed. They do an admiralable job with space efficiency but you should know going in how small the space is.
Nice staff, comfortable mattress and linens, great shower, funky style and great location - walk to everything and close to subway Ultra small bathroom sink and counter, A/C didn't cool the room below 72 even with the thermostat turned down to 60. Bed also on a platform, and corner of the base jutted out far enough that I whacked my shins on it to the point of heavy bruises - totally my fault but just beware!!
Just entrance Very small space of room, very expensive if you think about cost vs. benefits. Even breakfast of us$ 24,50 and us$ 6,53 for a bottle of water???? The most expensive experience that I had when I am trevelling all around the world during last 20 years!!!!!!!
The hotel was conveniently located next to the subway for ease of travel. It was walking distance to Times Square. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were recently remodeled. They need sound proofing between walls. We could hear conversations in the next room and they weren't even yelling.
Location, rooms are comfy , free internet My mother's shoes were stolen, Along with my nephew's (2 and 1/2 yo) pillow and toys. The shoes were inside a suitcase the entire time which makes the case even worse. We complained at the front desk, but the staff were unapologetic and did nothing to solve the issue.
Very convenient location. Excellent service. Clean and cozy room.
This hotel is totally fine if you just need a good, clean and reliable place to stay. Nothing's about it is amazing or special but nothing is bad (except that the elevators weren't working which meant a 8 story climb up the stairs).
Room was comfortable and clean and quiet. Large television blasting in very small lobby, distracting the single clerk at registration desk from his/her duties. Cheesy expensive snacks and beverages in rooms. Put a snack machine in the lobby. .
I reserved a deck room months before then got there and they said they overbooked! Scam!
The artsy feel and the consistent liveliness!
The room was tastefully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was very noisy and the light for the corridor came into the room. The lobby was taken up by students on their laptops and no dedicated bar for guests. there is no wardrobe either. lighting too dark. we wont be returning.
Mo the bartender and Grace at the front desk went above and beyond to make my stay pleasant.
When I first got to hotel to check in I was informed that the room I reserved was not available and that I never booked the king room. But this not true I had my confirmation number and the reservation saved on my phone. So she put me in a queen room and charge me 461.00 but the deal I reserved was for only 261.00. So when I check out I was told that 200.00 would go back in my bank but it still hasn't. So I will never book through kayak again. I was robbed 200 dollars and was giving wrong room.
Great location, friendly staff and small but clean and well appointed rooms. Several restaurant options and bar open late also. Overall great value for Manhattan.
Free wifi internet, free printing service, good room service restaurant staff not helpful and a bit pricey
My son was graduating with a professional degree. Family from the Midwest were coming to NYC for the investiture. I made a reservation for 3 rooms (first mistake!). When I contacted The Avalon to change into the individual rooms, I was told to contact the online site where I made the reservation. The online site was absolutely no help! They refused to render any assistance, as they already their money. Contacted The Avalon who worked things out. They were a pleasure to work with. Rooms weren't ready when checking in, but all 3 parties arrived before 11 AM, so not unanticipated.
They were incredibly understaffed for the week after Christmas. It took an hour and a half to check in and 2 hours to get our car at checkout. Would never stay here again
The rooftop pool is worth the stay. Not sure about going there at night but during the day, it's so far my favorite spot in the city :) The room itself is fairly standard. The ~$350/night is mostly towards the location and the pool.
Breakfast up on the rooftop! Overall. Great!
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Good location.
The continental breakfast & the wine & cheese evenings. The fact that the roof terrace was simply that, a roof terrace and not a bar where you could purchase drink or snacks, it seemed a waste of space.
They provided a complimentary happy hour and breakfast. The bed was comfortable. The shower was amazing. Would definitely stay here again. Construction in the lobby, which I couldn't hear but it was slightly unsightly and cramped as things were walled off and the reception desk was pushed back. But honestly that was it.
Perfect location. Close to all the attractions and the stations. Staff at the front desk were rude. All you get is an one word answer from the receptionist. Complimentary WiFi was not working at all. They did not have an answer when asked about it. Rooms were very small. Will never choose this hotel again
Location, comfort rooms, nice and supportive staff Breakfast was very limited - we are used on self service breakfast
atmostphere was really fun. great buzz about the place every night. evening meal is amazing. cant think of anything at all
Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and the complimentary breakfast was good. There was no mini fridge in the room, but other than that everything was good.
Convenient. Elevator broken. I was there LAST week was broken then. One of two broken, it took FOREVER to get in and out of the rooms. They should give a discount until it is fixed.
