Pros: Our room was beautiful with a spectacular city view. Complete functioning kitchette which we did not take advantage of because we were only there one night but would have been great for a three day weekend stay. Staff was friendly and professional. We had a light fixture broken in our bathroom when we first arrived and they had it replaced and room service had cleaned the glass up in under 20 mins. Impressive for an operation this size. Within walking distance to many desired locations.

Pros: Service staff never made me feel like I was a bother. I loved the spacious and newly remodeled room we stayed in. Beautiful bump out bay window with breathtaking views of the river and Lake Michigan. Bathroom had very high end finishes, and also included a television in the mirror!
Cons: The maintenance guy who tried to fix a broken bathroom light was using very profane language as he failed at repairing the light. However, this staff member's behavior scored us a free upgrade from city view - to river lake view - so it all worked out.

Pros: The staff was extremely helpful with everything from directions to meal preferences. The quality of atmosphere was also very good. The decor and views from the hotel were better than anywhere I've ever stayed.
Cons: The pool area was not on par with the essence or ambiance of the rest of the hotel, with the lack of hot tub areas and the extreme plainness of the pool area compared to the rest of the hotel.

Pros: We arrived at 11:30 a.m. and were pleased that not only was a room available early, but that it far exceeded our expectations in terms of size, amenities and overall decor/layout. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly with every interaction - the valet even retrieved something from our car for us and brought it to our room to save us from venturing oitbwih our 16-month old. Pack-n-plays are available - we had brought our own but will remember this in the future! The location was perfect to walk to the ballet, saving us from attempting to travel with a 25-pound car seat!
Cons: There aren’t many family options nearby, save for quick lunch and dinner spots (ie scorned Bakery). That worked well for us and what we wanted, but may not for others who are looking for more.

Pros: The location is perfect for what I like to do in Chicago: Symphony, Art Institute, Mill. Park. Not that anywhere in the Loop is far away from the train, but the steps to the Wabash/Madison station are right outside the door. The bellmen, desk clerks, and house keeping staff were all friendly, helpful, and smiling. My room (909) was large, the bed was comfy, and the decor was unique. The bathroom was big enough for two people to operate in it simultaneously. The shower was pretty awesome. It was a large shower shower stall with a tile floor, it was perfect for... I read reviews about train noise being disturbing, but we didn't find that to be the case. We weren't on the Wabash side, and we could tell when a train went by, but it was by no means loud. The price from KAYAK was outstanding, as the full price may be a bit out of my price range. I felt like I definitely got my moneys worth. The Ground floor lobby/bar/restaurant will be beautiful, once they open. I'll look for rooms at the Silversmith anytime I'm in Chicago
Cons: There are still some renovation tweaks that they need to iron out. My dead-bolt wouldn't bolt There isn't anyplace to hang towels and washcloths, in the bathroom. No real complaints.

Pros: Beautifully decorated modern hotel. Spacious, clean rooms. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, ranging from front desk to doormen. Very accommodating in getting us a king size bed instead of the 2 beds that were on our reservation. Very well located (in the Loop) - a few blocks from the Art Institute of Chicago and Millennium Park. Our room was surprisingly quiet given the proximity of the hotel to the Loop train.

Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was quiet. Too many times I have stayed at hotels downtown chicago only to find that a large convention or something was staying and had to put up with the noise. Silversmith is quiet and sleek. It is near to everything I want to travel too. If where I want to go is a little farther there is the el just outside the door to take me there. I love staying here.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Modern decor and great customer service! The staff was very attentive and professional as they helped me store/freeze my breastmilk. They even arranged for a secluded pumping location after I had checked out and no longer had access to my room! Very friendly and helpful in general.
Cons: Very noisy outside from the elevated train, but my room was on the other side of the hotel and I didn't hear the train at all. Room was narrow and small, but had all the expected amenities (except floor space to stretch). View was close up wall of neighbor building.

Pros: I liked that it was close to everything we wanted!
Cons: The wifi was slow! They had no ice machines in the hallways so we had to call every time for the front desk to being some to us. When entering the hotel it had a clean but smelly odor it was weird! We requwsted with a nice view but we got the back of another buildings view! The shower had some mold!

9.7
Pros: This hotel is beyond amazing. It doesn't scream luxury from the street, but the moment you step inside, you're surrounded by quiet and beauty. The room was beautifully designed with art deco, and the bathroom was large. The best surprises were the bathrobes in the closet, the refrigerator, and the individual Keurig coffee maker, all in the room. The restaurant was cozy and comfortable, and the food was great. I'd highly recommend this hotel. I can't wait to come back myself!
Cons: Service in the restaurant is a little slow; however, if you let them know you're in a hurry, then they accommodate you well.

9.7
Pros: Everyone was just so helpful - whether it was advice on the train system, to off the beaten path restaurants or activities, all of the staff went out of their way to help us enjoy our trip to Chicago. The room was very quiet - we seldom heard any noise outside of our door. There was a bit of construction outside the hotel, but even that added to the peace we felt at the facility.
"With direct access to the beach, this Near North Side hotel is in the city centre, steps away from 900 North Michigan Shops, John Hancock Center and Water Tower Place. State Street and Chicago Water Tower are also within 5 minutes. Chicago Station (Red Line) is 7 minutes by foot and Clark-Division Station is 12 minutes. "

Pros: Hotel has great location, very nice accomodations.
Cons: There was broken glass in the bar and I cut my finger pretty badly on our first night at the hotel. Although hotel staff was very nice and they did call security, I thought they could have done more in way of compensation. In hindsight, I probably needed stitches and other than call to my room by the manager (who had already left by the time we got back to the room), they really didn't even follow-up.

Pros: Location was great.
Cons: We went to this hotel so we could have access to the rooftop lounge. They made it very hard for everyone by saying that it’s Booked all year but if you come and wait in a ridiculous line for a few hours you will get in. Are you booked or not? Another thing was the shower water that took very long to get hot.

Pros: Bed was super comfy; lay out was nice. I enjoyed the location. Felt very fancy with great views
Cons: We checked in early and dropped off our bags, no problem. Then we got the notification that our room and digital key was ready, so we made our way back. When we tried to get our bags, no one was there to talk to so we had to go to the front desk and they were going to send them up. We went upstairs with our digital key ready and it didn't work. We had to go back to the front desk, only to have the staff not believe us that it didn't work. They gave us a regular key and we went back upstairs. I had wanted to freshen up but the bags had not arrived. We waited about half an hour but ended up going back to the front desk to remind them to send the bags up. After that, the stay was fine until I was over charged for the room and had to call the hotel to get the correct charges.

Pros: My son and I had a great stay at London House! It is located perfectly and is within walking distance or a short Uber ride of Navy Pier, Millenium Park, OTC. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and staff was friendly!
Cons: We tried to eat at the hotel restaurant to avoid going out in a storm. The restaurant is more of a bar setting and the menu is not family friendly. Needless to say we braved the storm, got soaked! Great memory! Lots of good places to eat around the hotel.

Pros: Modern, relatively new, comfortable room except for shower head. Nice staff but had to wait on my room way past the 4p check-in time. Staff gave me water and premium internet because I had to wait so long for room.
Cons: I have the Hilton app and credit card. I was allowed to pick my room, so I did on the app. I did not get the room I selected. I arrived early. Was told my room was not ready. By 4 p (check-in time) it was not ready; not ready by 4:45p (yet I saw several checking in at 4p). I had to leave for dinner and opera (couldn't change into the intended clothes because of the room not ready). Shower head doesn't allow for focused stream; took a while to rinse thick hair.

Pros: The rooftop bar is amazing...during the winter, however, the lounge is enclosed and not much to talk about. Our room had a gorgeous view of the river, the bed was comfortable, linens were great, and the big tv was like being in bed at a movie theatre. The workout facility was very cool, like a trip to the future. Great stay, we would do it again for sure.

Cons: Probably being a little picky here, but I couldn’t get the Netflix to work on my TV in the room. Totally reaching here....this place is great.

9.1
Pros: The fact that I was offered a room upgrade for approximately $100 in totally (all 3 nights combine) and great views.
Cons: The fact that this upgrade was right against an elevator on the 11th floor (1101). Throughout the stay, you could hear the elevator go up and down, the guest talking loud coming out and going into their hallways. But importantly for a Photographer, that giant TRUMP sign taking away from my cityscape photos. My suggestion would be to place any upgrades away from the main hall where the elevator is and to ask the guest questions such as, “Is this your anniversary or honeymoon “.
Excellent

Pros: Rooftop bar and restaurant were excellent with must-see views. Spacious room with a great shower, nespresso machine, and a very comfortable bed.
Cons: Room faced Michigan Ave and was very noisy (sirens, etc.) A white noise machine would have been helpful.

Pros: The rooms were nice, but our room had not been properly cleaned. There was an empty wine bottle in the trash, a stain on the carpet, and dirt on the bedspread. The location is great for exploring the city. A block from Michigan Ave, the beach, and Rush street.
Cons: The customer service was not good. We waited 30-45 minutes for our bags to be brought up to our room and finally had to go down to get them. There were two bellmen standing in the lobby doing nothing and our luggage was just sitting there. As mentioned the room was not properly cleaned which is never a good feeling when you are staying in a hotel. I requested a late check-out and was immediately told "No due to someone else staying in our room and they needed to clean it". He then asked what room we were staying in. He again said it wasn't possible as someone was staying in that room and they would need to clean it. When we checked out I forgot a brand new shirt I bought while staying there. I rarely hang things in the closet and had done so since it was a new shirt. I realized this the next day and called and again was given horrible customer service. They told me it was not in the room and that nobody stayed in that room the night before so they couldn't help me. Obviously, the maid who cleaned that room took it, but they accepted no responsibility for that. Not to mention they couldn't give us a late check-out due to another guest needing the room. It's a shame the customer service was so bad because it is a nice hotel in a great area of the city.

Pros: I liked the sofitel before because it had this amazing smell wafting through the entire building especially in the lobby that I loved so much my friend found out what they were using and turns out they were using a scent from a French perfumery which made the whole feeling even more glamorous than it was already. My friend ended up gifting me a candle from the very same perfumery that was the exact scent of the Sofitel Chicago location!
Cons: The scent was missing from the hotel, this was the main thing I was looking forward to and was very disappointed in that there was no luxurious scent to go with a luxurious hotel.

Pros: Concierge, door men excellent.
Cons: Paying for with fi? Really...at these prices? Terrible. $10.00 to use 15 min. Had no idea. Showed up on statement. Housekeeping fine first night but 2nd night left our duvets on floor and when we called to report they actually asked what we would like them to do about it. After telling them we wanted some new duvets a maid came and complied. Next day we returned to find all of our pillows with shams gone...not a functional problem since we still had pillows to sleep on but since they are part of the decor we weren't sure what that was all about. They were on the bed when we left that morning. Overall the room was quiet but I think we could do better next time. Hotel being renovated so maybe the reno rooms will blow you away...ours did not. Other than housekeeping staff the rest of staff was helpful but could have been more accommodating when we missed a night of our reservation due to being snowed in at airport in philly and unable to get there. If they couldn't refund a night of our pre paid room we thought we might have recd a complimentary night in future. They told us to ask price line about that but price line pushed it back to them...

Pros: Really enjoyed the stay here, very comfortable and a great location for the price. I needed to make a last minute update to stay a few more nights as my travel was cancelled due to weather. The employees were extremely helpful in letting me keep the same room and at the same rate.
Cons: Stayed on the same floor as the pool, so some noisy kids were expected

Pros: My wife and I got a special price which included parking (worth $72!). We had to stay one night downtown and chose the hotel for the convenience and value. We were grateful to be surprised by excellent staff, excellent facilities and excellent service. We would go back in a heartbeat. Location is exceptional for anything downtown, especially Michigan Ave and holiday shopping.

Pros: It was a nice hotel. The rooms were pretty with hard wood floors and lovely bedding. The shower was cool - like rain. The coffee in the room actually tasted good (unlike most hotel coffee). It was a very nice place, but would be better for folks heading out clubbing then a business traveler (me). Whole foods was right next door.
Cons: It was a bit too trendy for me and lacked a sense of community in the lobby. Other than at check out, there was always a line to speak with the front desk and no one was at the concierge desk. There wasn't a way to block the street lights out as the block out curtains didn't cover the edge of the windows - thought they did a fine job of blocking out most sunlight. The room was set up poorly - no garbage near the coffee maker, hard to find outlets and hard to figure out how to turn on the various lights - one lamp I could never find the switch for. Awesome for hot make out sessions, less ideal for reviewing conference materials.

Pros: The location was very convenient to get around the city, but the rest of the experience was lackluster at best.
Cons: The room was poorly set up so that the shower (and everything else in the bathroom) was visible from the bed - making it nearly impossible to have any privacy considering the control of the curtain which covers the glass is left in the control of the person outside of the bathroom. We had also requested a quiet room, not located directly under the roofdeck club to be able to sleep in and relax while staying there. What we did not account for was the incredibly loud construction beginning before 8am on a Saturday directly above our room. When we contacted guest services to help resolve the issue, they were slow to respond and weren't as sympathetic / helpful as I would have imagined. At 12PM on Saturday, we were awoken by a large party on the floor above us with at least 20 people and loud music - this also took guest services a while to respond to. When we booked this room, we were thrilled to be staying in a hotel / spa for a relaxing weekend. It seemed the hotel was more of a party hotel than anything.

Pros: The location of this hotel is perfect. It's a few blocks away from the river, Michigan avenue, and the Lake. Our room was very chic. There are hardwood floors, a nice desk area, a large bathroom, and a balcony. The minibar and room service were appropriately priced. We also loved the doorman, TJ, he was always very friendly and had the best recommendations for places to go. Make sure to ask him if you need any assistance with activities or restaraunts. He was much better than the concierge inside the hotel.
Cons: The only odd thing about the room is that the entire bathroom can be open to the bed. There is a curtain from the outside that only just covers it. The concierge at the hotel was also sub par. When I asked where to get sushi he suggested the hotel restaraunt and when I asked where to get bagels in the morning he suggested whole foods. I was unhappy with this service as a concierge because they should know the hot spots in the city.

Pros: The rooms have style, the location was great, and the staff was nice.
Cons: I feel like they need a regular maintenance schedule. The rubber strip had come off of the shower door so the bathroom would flood when I showered. The closet and bathroom share a door which squeaked really loudly when rolled from one side to the other. The toilet kept running, and the display in the elevators needed repair. The staff was responsive when I asked for things to be fixed but it would have been nice not to have to deal with it while on vacation. Not a great place for folks who don't do stairs well as the elevators don't go all the ground level (perhaps if you asked they might give a special key?).

Pros: The architecture was the primary reason I choose the Dana hotel.
Cons: I could hear a party going on in the room across the hallway, obviously very annoying at 10:30pm when i'm trying to sleep. When I complained the desk staff responded by telling me the noise complaint policy and that it may take a while for them to deal with the noise since the "partiers" have rights too. They weren't apologizing and they treated me like I was being difficult. What is difficult about expecting a hotel room to be place suitable for sleep? It took them over 15 minutes and 2 trips to the lobby to make things right but only after the concierge stepped in to offer an apology and an upgraded room away from the noise. He was the only one that appeared to have any hospitality training. They should hire more employees like him. Ultimately Chicago has so many hotel options, I can't see a reason to stay at Dana again.

Pros: Great rooftop bar.
Cons: The rooom had a door that wasn't sealed well so it was loud. The ceiling is cement so it made the room feel very cramped almost like being in a coffin. The staff was weird and looked like they were hired off the street. The locker room and work out room were poor. It's a weird place. Just had a bad vibe. And the hotel itself feels like a cheap conversion of an 80s built apartment building. Looks like they cut corners all over the place. I won't stay there again and probably won't use kayak again for hotels after my experience. They made it very clear that because I booked through a "3rd party" that they didn't accommodate my problem with the noise the same as if I booked through them.

Pros: Loved the staff at the Hyatt! They were amazingly helpful, especially Ariana who was there no matter what we needed. From the valets to the housekeepers they were so wonderful. The business center was very helpful and the latte's were delicious.

Pros: Great location--close to everything we needed. Super friendly, helpful staff. Very comfortable accommodations.
Cons: The bathroom was poorly separated from the bedroom. With a gap above the hanging door to the bathroom area and a much bigger gap above the glass door that made up the toilet room, it was almost like we were in there together. Not very romantic.

Pros: The overall experience was great - facilities, location and staff were wonderful

Cons: Because it was our 10th wedding anniversary I called to have a bottle of proseco waiting for us in the room. I was told they didn't have proseco but it was listed in the menu. The walls are paper thin. So much so not only could I hear the guy next door but I could also hear the person he was talking to on the phone. came downstairs to get my car from the valet and was told it would take 20 minutes. No one said anything when I checked in and there were no instructions that allowed you to call ahead from your room. Bathroom floor was sticky. Overall, the worse hotel visit.

Pros: Location was superb for downtown Chicago. Easy walk to Milenium Park & Michigan Ave shopping. River view room was great! Price was nice. Room was cool, cozy. Down feather beds but could've used a fitted sheet on bed instead of a 2 flats? Pool was a little run down could use some sprucing up. Spa staff super friendly. Sauna nice.
Cons: Check in was uncomfortable. My family requested an early check in first thing in morning thru Kayak. We drove several hours with young children & wanted to get to the Chi & settle in for our short visit. I was told thru text an early check in couldn't be guaranteed. We lived in Chicago, spouse a native so we didn't mind finding something to do. We arrived at 11:30 after having breakfast in Lincoln Park by the zoo. It was raining so we decided to try to check in early. I took my place in line. Another lady walked up to the only staff attended desk & stepped between the woman already getting service & myself. She proceeded ahead of me & I spoke up. She huffed & puffed. As if I was inconveniencing her. Worse off the staff member states he didn't know who was next but she just needs to swap her key and I could wait since my check in would take longer! I protested but she was serviced while I continued to wait! When it was my turn I was told I couldn't check in, I was 9th in line, & we couldn't expect a room for at least 2 hours... unless we chose a room to small or we paid $75 for a suite! I removed myself from line & called my spouse. I returned to line moments later to a different staff member, Ricardo. He immediately set us up with the room we needed & handed me keys! Amazing the difference a minute makes! Thanks Ricardo! Later that evening we saw the woman who stepped in front of me & received preference from staff. She was in full pilot uniform leaving the hotel. She hosed past me looking like an angry pitbull. Despite the great location and family friendly atmosphere we might never go back. There are too many other places to choose from!

Pros: I booked a room in Chicago at the Swissotel for two nights and after reading the horror stories about kayak bookings through getaroom, I was a bit apprehensive. Based on my travel plans and circumstances, I was able to risk it and make other lodging plans if necessary, so I risked the inconvenience of whatever troubles getaroom might cause me. The mattresses were covered with a duvet placed under a top sheet (instead of a fitted sheet) I assume to make the mattresses feel more comfortable and less lumpy. It was the worst mattress I've ever slept in in a hotel. Poor parking options. $125 for two days (non valet) No roof top bar or pool. Charges for any local outgoing calls or 1-800 #'s. Pros: Obviously its a great location, shopping, food, everything that Chicago has to offer is at your finger tips.
Cons: The rate I got through Kayak was great for the room, however, EVERYTHING else at this hotel is so darn expensive. A can of Coke from room service is $6.00. Overnight parking for a hotel guest is $67.00 per night!!!!! The restaurant there.. "The Grill", I went and looked at their menu and everything was EXTREMELY expensive. The hotel is decent, but the paint on my bathroom ceiling was chipping off. It just isn't THAT nice of a hotel to warrant all the extremely high prices of everything else. I've stayed at other hotels that have pillow top beds that were more comfortable. The bed was fine, but again, not SO NICE that you felt like you were in a luxury hotel and would be willing to pay for all the extras. I used "Spothero" and found parking about a mile away from the hotel for 4 days and spent a total of $68 for parking so I didn't have to pay $67 PER NIGHT to park at the hotel. That is OUTRAGEOUS!!

They were not particularly polite or pleasant, our bellman was an exception-he was great.
Cons: Worn looking, needs renovation. Beds are supposedly larger than a full, but less than a queen. I prefer two queens when traveling as a family.

Pros: Outstanding value for the rate we received. Beautiful quiet residential neighborhood only 2 or 3 blocks from lively restaurant and shopping scene. Friendly staff. You can buy excellent "to go" coffee in the lobby, including real, flaky croissants and other pastries, and have them downstairs or take them up to your room for breakfast, instead of being trapped into using expensive hotel restaurant services. The lobby bars are full of attractive young local people who walk in from around the neighborhood. Our fully modern, comfortable, sunny, 16th floor King room had a full skyline and partial lake view. We would stay here again if we could get the same low rate ($190).
Cons: We were fully satisfied. However, we did receive an upgrade room. Doubtless there are smaller rooms with less remarkable views. But surely all the rooms are completely modern and immaculate.

Pros: The bed was comfy and I loved the ambiance of the hotel in the MORNING.
Cons: The room we got faced an ugly part of the building (I assume it was the central air unit) and it was very noisy. The ambiance of the hotel was lovely, but after 8pm on a Thursday, the place got super crowded really dampening tone of our stay. I don't think the value of what we paid for a one night stay ($275) was worth it. We were expecting a chill evening but the lobby and bar was overcrowded and we ended up spending the night in our room. We also felt nickle and dimed for everything.. from internet, to coffee, to parking.

Pros: It was conveniently located near State Street and Rush Street. Families, there are better options like the Drake in the same neighborhood, the Hilton across from Museum Plaza and the Sheridan in the heart of downtown next to the Chicago River. Also, with kids, a kitchen is nice so trip Flipkey for an alternative. Get a City pass for discounts on all of the attractions and you can get tickets for all of the attractions at once at the Willis/Sears Tower. Skip the Hotel Concierge, their deals are not as good.
Cons: The service was inconsistent from the front desk to room service; however, that may be because it is not a family friendly hotel and they are unabashed about the fact that they want to appeal to adult who want to emulate the Hollywood scene. There is a concerted effort to seem exclusive and the entire hotel wreaks of it. Upgrade to a suite for better service, the staff always looks up your room and if you have a larger room, you are treated better although they should be trained to treat every guest equally. Skip the concierge for your tours and book 2r hours ahead online. The online prices beat any price the concierge can offer and you can use your credit card online, if you book with the concierge for some reason you have to pay them in cash for your tours.

Pros: Service was always nice and informative. Attractive room. Library bar was a fun place to drink. Comfortable/ large bed. Clean nearly everywhere.

Pros: Clean, fashionable, good location for me, provided coffee maker for room when I asked, but what is with 3 of the 5 pods being decaf?
Cons: Lack of conveniently placed AC plugs to plug in while sitting on the bed. In checking out, when I asked for a restroom, I was directed down one floor! Elevator too busy + not clear how to get there on stairs = big lose! Good thing I asked about coffee, they said they would TRY to get one brought to room. It arrived fortunately but I don't think I should have to ask! Coffee not readily accessible and available on a fly-in business trip is a non-starter. Some of my favorite hotels have high quality complementary coffee flowing abundantly in the lobby.

Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Horrible service, horrible housekeeping - where old cutlery and dishes are left lying around and you need to call in to get fresh glasses. I had to personally go downstairs to the front desk and get a fresh set myself after waiting for 90 minutes for room service and/ or housekeeping to bring me fresh utensils and cups. The first night the ice machine was out. The shampoo and shower gel weren't replinished and had to call housekeeping to bring us more so we could shower. After being charged 18% gratuity and $4 in service charge, the room service staff got rude when they werent offered more tip! The whole hotel seems to be in a chaos And the staff, facilities, rooms and state of the hotel in general is absolutely pathetic. This hotel gave me lesson on why it's better to stick with the hoteliers like the Marriots and Hiltons of the world. I highly recommend everyone to steer clear of this hotel. Pay a bit extra and live in a hotel not a motel trying to pass itself off as a 4/5 star.

Pros: We loved the location and the valet staff that helped us get taxis and directed us in the right location for certain sights/ restaurant. The lights built in to the bed frame and dresser are stellar and kinda romantic. The pump room has some delicious food.
Cons: The pillows. They are thin and down. We requested non-down pillows...this took two calls to the front desk. When they arrived only one was a non-down pillow and it was just as bad. If you like feather pillows, stay here.

Pros: THe hotel lobby, bar and Pump Room are very cool.

Cons: The only staff I ever saw was at the Check-In Desk. Waited an hour to have an iron delivered to the room. Waited over an hour for car to be dispatched from valet. There was no "welcome to our hotel" from anyone, it was essentially "you're on your own here".

Pros: The library bar and pump room bar were fabulous. Food and cocktails amazing. Great energy throughout the hotel. Fabulous location near both Lincoln Park and the Lake. Very welcoming to solo business/leisure visitors. Great place to work at during the day.
Cons: The rooms were okay. A little run down (stains on the floor, chipped furniture). I received a good deal on the cost of my room, but wouldn't pay the full price for one of their rooms. But you may really be paying for the location and great food/bar scene.

Cons: No phone charges available Heater making noise throughout the night, had to choose between being cold or awaken by noise Heat was off when I arrived, "engineer" had to come up to turn it on (shouldn't it be obvious where and how to control the temperature?) Cons: Overpriced, elevators were erratic. Power breakfast was fine, but they kept changing the hours. Had to have Food and Bev manager intervene to get breakfast. Did not have enough newspapers on three of the four days I stayed there. Coffee was $9. Mixed drinks were $15. Our group was 50 rooms. Many complaints. Few amenities for the price. No radios in room. Pros: Public is a great boutique hotel in a great location. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, comfy and have great views of the city. The Pump Room has a great breakfast/brunch menu. Whenever we hit Chicago, we stay at Public.
Cons: It would've been nice if the bathrooms had vent fans. After a shower, the steam had nowhere to go, so the room ended up being damp for awhile.

Pros: From the moment you pull up in front of the InterContinental you know you've made a wise choice. A friendly, suited doorman opened the cab door and welcomed us into the beautiful lobby decorated with a 4-story Christmas tree. We checked in and an exceptionally friendly clerk, Mariana, made sure we were given a quiet corner room, per our request. Our room was clean, spacious, and newly renovated - but not overdone. The wi-fi was fast, the bathroom toiletries lovely, and the room was quiet. Stop and see the pool -- it is the original, and its gorgeous. How often do you see chandeliers over a swimming pool that once boasted Esther Williams as a swimmer? Best of all, the location. Between Ontario Street and the Chicago Tribune, right before the river -- perfect!
Cons: When we stepped off the elevator the rug was worn and shabby. This was our only complaint about the decor.

Pros: - The location on the Magnificent Mile, Michigan Avenue, is great and clearly what the hotel is counting on to cover for all of the shortcomings in the hotel.
Cons: My husband and I recently completed a 3 night stay at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, unfortunately, we were quite disappointed in the hotel. - No recognition for Spire Ambassador status which should have gotten me a room upgrade but did not, even though staff assured me we had been given one. Why lie about it? - Room (Grand Tower King Suite) was in need of refurbishment with peeling wallpaper and paint. - Climate controls did not actually do anything to control the too hot nature of the room. - Bathroom was ridiculously small and for a suite had just a shower over a bathtub with a yucky shower curtain. - Most of the staff were quite friendly but checking in took a very long time and I have my doubts that they were trained adequately. - Management was indifferent and lacked good customer service skills, which makes for a poor showing to loyal customers. - Room service was not great and they didn't even bring us a glass of water with our meals.

Pros: This was my first time here and it was AWESOME! I would defiantly recommend. The staff was very friendly and welcoming . The rooms were beautiful and clean . We had a nice view as well . The beds were super comfortable as well made the weekend awesome.
Cons: I didnt like that i wasnt informed ahead of time of a deposit , since i booked it online and it gave me a total , i was thinking that was the total . I was then informed i would get my deposit back the next day and it did not hit my acct for three days . I just dont like to be misinformed. My last complaint would be that the bathroom doors were kinda small.

Pros: The location was top notch in a historic building- it was pointed out during our architectural boat tour!
Cons: Our room's windows were inches from a brick wall which made me feel very unsafe. No notice that it was an interior rom when we booked. Pros: - Fantastic location: wherein most hotels are in the Loop which is dead on the weekends, this is in gorgeous Gold Coast, walking distance to the magnificent mile, Old Town/Wells St. shops & restaurants, and even Lincoln Park, and an easy cab or bus to Wicker Park. In short, you can do touristy stuff, but you don't have to live in the craziness of it and can easily access the neighborhoods more representative of Chicago (we used to live in Chicago). - Funky design and atmosphere. Not to everyone's taste, but much better than nondescript alternatives in the price range.

Pros: The room was clean, though very dark, and the bed was comfortable. As others have pointed out, it is within walking distance of most downtown shopping areas and about half an hour from the Magnificent Mile.
Cons: The front desk staff were clipped and curt, which was unexpected, and made for a chilly welcome to the Windy City. As mentioned, the room was darker than expected, and the two outlets for charging equipment were located along the far wall, underneath the desk, which had a drawer that would not close. This drawer's corners caused several near-accidents, unsurprisingly. The bathroom was clean and pleasantly designed, but very small. We were dissatisfied with the room service and front desk experience. When we ordered breakfast, we expected more than a few eggs on an English muffin, and we received two small scones, rather than our order of a scone and a croissant. When this was mentioned at checkout, I was told that a manager would give me a call, which never happened.

Pros: I booked the Whitehall because I found an amazing deal for a standard king bed, when we arrived the front desk clerk was so sweet to us! she asked why we were staying at their hotel, and I mentioned it was a surprise date for my boyfriends graduation from college and acceptance to grad school and she upgraded us to a junior suite for free!!!! It was amazingly spacious and comfortable. They were so kind and were willing to upgrade us without hesitation. The room was clean and it was great to have bath robes and an umbrella we could use during the rain and thunderstorms at night while still enjoying the city!
Cons: The bed was squeaky whenever we rolled over in the night, but it was really comfortable despite that. I can't complain for the free upgrade to a suite!

Pros: Good price for the weekend, nice view of the Hancock, neat they have options for food and drinks downstairs.
Cons: We got to the Whitehall around 6:30PM on Friday night, to find one of the automatic doors to enter was not working correctly. Next up: one of the elevators (of only 2 tiny elevators) was broken down. Everything had a luster of the past, but needed updating, cleaning, replacing, etc. In our room, the carpet was stained and one of our sheets had a hole in it. To add insult to injury, of the 2 phones in the bedroom, one didn't work at all, and the other only worked if you pressed 0. (ie, none of the corresponding keys to concierge etc worked). The shower faucet where you adjust the temperature was also broken - as it was loose and hard to finagle into getting a temperature that didn't scald or freeze you. And maybe the worst of all? We had gone out for brunch on Saturday, and come back, said we didn't want to be disturbed, but then, while we were napping, someone CAME INTO OUR ROOM without knocking to check our minibar!!! What?! Who does this!?!? This hotel is 2 star-worthy, not 4. They need to SERIOUSLY up their game or deal with reality. Also - we were charged for 2 items (a granola bar and candy bar) that we didn't even take. The lady said "sometimes touching something in the minibar triggers these prices). I said "that would make sense if either thing were even *in* the minibar!" So, there you go. That's the truth of the place. Judge for yourself.

Pros: The hotel was very beautiful and clean, and the location couldn't have been better for the purpose of our visit. Enjoyed the visit overall.
Cons: All of our room requests were ignored. We asked for a quiet room with one queen sized bed. This was confirmed at more than one point, including when we checked in at the front desk. However, we received a room with two full-sized beds. Not a huge deal, but why ask if it's going to be disregarded? Also, our room was street side and thus very noisy all night. When we tried to call the front desk from the hotel phone in our room, it kept forwarding us to a message center, so we never got to talk to a real person. Despite these things, we enjoyed our stay overall.

Pros: Location. A block away off the Magnificent Mile, North Side near the John Hancock building. The North Side of Chicago downtown is the nicer & safest part of downtown Chicago. Also has more restaurants and shopping centers within close walking proximity than the south part of downtown Chicago/or the loop. We were are from San Diego, CA, it was our first time visiting Chicago, we are definitely going back (much nicer & easier to get around than NY).
Cons: We will definitely stay in the North side of town again, but definitely never booking the Whitehall ever again & we are never prepaying for a hotel ever again, unless we have stayed there in the past & we already know what we are booking. Had we not prepaid for the hotel we would have checked out & booked another hotel. We Checked in at around 2pm Dec 26th for a 6 night stay. First room we got on 8th floor modern decor but was not as the one we expected from the pictures, it was a 3star room because the bathroom was big & definitely worthy of a 4star, but room was not. Even in the dim light we could see the walls & furniture were old, once we used our cell flash lights to see better in the room, the walls were scary. And there was a wall just 2 ft away from our window, so even in the day no natural light came in. we tried it for a few hrs but we felt like we were being enclosed & we had 7 days to go & we were there on our 10th yr wedd annv. So at around 7pm, we called front desk, Rebecca was super nice, we requested if we could get a room that was not facing a wall, just something that had a view to the outside world. We got mover to room on the 19th floor, bathroom was small, but room was bigger in size, but worse in décor & condition. Traditional décor, but not in a good way, even more older furniture and walls than first room, & bed frame & fixtures had a layered of dust, as if no one had cleaned it in 10yrs. And I found a woman's sweater and hair wig in the closet. Lets just say the only area I felt okay to get undressed was the bathroom as this was the only 4star worthy part of the room. The only reason why we stayed in this new room is because the room was a corner room away from the main hallway, which seemed a lot safer, being that this hotel did not seem safe at all & the hallways & elevator are super narrow & small & seem taken out of an episode from the "Twilight Zone". Hallway walls are old & musky, elevator even had tagging, I never stay at a hotel that's less than 3stars, never had seen this type of condition in any of the hotels I have stayed. And in past 10yrs we have vacation 2-3 times a yr. Not sure how they have manage to keep a 4star rating. The only 4star worthy of this hotel is the bathrooms in rooms, hotel restaurant, & hotel staff. Rebecca gave us a nice letter and vouchers (we only used the breakfast voucher) to apologize for the hair wig & sweater, but the damage was more than done. We had a hard time even being in our hotel room, before our trip we had originally planned to spend more time relaxing in hotel, but definitely we ended up trying to be out of our hotel as much as possible. If they had 4star rooms elsewhere in the hotel, then we did not stay in one, which again does not make this a 4star hotel because a 4star hotel should have all rooms in 4star condition starting from their smallest deluxe rooms all the way up to their suites. Unacceptable, if anything they are a 2 1/2 to 3star hotel.

Pros: My wife and I have always stayed north of the river but chose this one to stay in a different part of the city but be close to everything. We loved the location to CTA stops because used that to get around the city. We loved the location's proximity to basically anything that we needed. The staff was very informative and friendly. My wife enjoyed the chilled water bottle stations on each floor. The elevator runs very quick compared to other Chicago hotels that we have stayed at. The room service and food deliveries run late into the night.
Cons: We purchased our room online so maybe we were not given the best room. Our room was in a "hole" of sorts. There was absolutely zero views from the small window and barely any sunshine. The size of the flatscreen tv left much to be desired. Most hotels now at least have a 40" tv. There was no microwave in the room and not one that we could access down in the lobby area. The bed was not overly comfortable. Again, we loved most things about hotel because we chose it more as a crash location, not a place to stay all day.

Pros: We stayed at the Club Quarters because it's a block away from the Chicago passport office, and was reasonably priced. Checkin and staff were great, very helpful and attentive, very accommodating.
Cons: The business center in the basement is very convenient, however, it didn't offer color printing and we were prepping for a visit to the passport office which required color printing. The staff have me a list of kinkos/fedex offices which offered color printing, however the list was outdated and I wasted an hour running all over the city following old information. I share this with the staff and hope they have updated the info. I would have gladly paid for color printing, and was wishing I spent the extra $$ to stay at a Hilton, which reliably has color printing.

Pros: The hotel is in a great location. It is right in the downtown area. There are a lot of great places within walking distance. The hotel was clean, and there was a little pub in the hotel. Both of the staff members we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. They have free bottled water available that you bottle yourself, which I thought was pretty neat.
Cons: The parking is not onsite. And we were not really sure where to park before we got there and we were sick of driving around so we ended up parking about five blocks away and we were parked in the spot for a day and seven minutes and it cost $49. So if you stay here I would plan out your parking better than we did. Also out room was super tiny and had a horrible view. And when we got to the room I went to use the bathroom and the handle on the toilet seat was cracked. Then the next morning the toilet just broke altogether. And the shower was either super hot or freezing, there was no happy medium. Our room also was in desperate need of an update. The tv was tiny and the room looked like a teenage boys room.

Pros: I loved our stay. So chic with a cool, modern, vibe. My kinda place. As a city girl, I appreciated the slanted bathtub that fully covered my body. It was nice to take a bath. Being on the inside of the courtyard was perfect for light coverage and news coverage. The bed was super comfortable and the room, no small, was hip and wonderful. We stayed for New Years Eve and just walked to all the festivities. It was perfect.!
Cons: If people were loud, or had more than 5 people in a room, you could hear them through the wall clearly. You can also hear clearly outside the door. Also, the plumbing makes for great water pressure, but the downside is that you can hear loud plumbing through the walls when someone runs a bath or shower above you.

Cons: While the exterior of The Congress represents the bygone days of a once glorious hotel, the interior is, sadly, the result of age, poor maintenance, and general neglect. The very first impression I got was the malodorousness that permeated the entire facility. Upon entering my room, the odor was insulting as, clearly, this hotel once permitted smoking (but apparently made no effort to eliminate the persistent smell. The furniture must've been obtained from the local Goodwill as it was well-worn and mismatched. Cracked tile on the bathroom floor made the entire experience unpleasant. Hey Congress owner, it's time for a remodel!

Reminded me of that 1960's home with the pocket doors, and diamond like door knobs, but has NEVER been updated. A place to lay your head and store your luggage and no more. Although I must admit the pancakes in the rear restaurant from the front desk were GREAT!!!!
Cons: Cold, I mean COLD water in the bathroom. Peeling wall paper. Hotel really needs to be gutted and updated like yesterday. For $200.00 per night the overall appearance of the hotel was about $40.00 per night. Yes we had a good view of Buckingham Fountain over Michigan Ave. And that is the only thing that gave us some, just some of our money's worth.

Pros: The Location of this hotel its Perfect. Close to the train, bus, and bicycle stations. If you came to see what Chicago can offer, this Hotel is for you
Cons: Well I didn't have a lot of expectation due to the reviews we saw before we booked it. and sadly most of them are true. The first day we got to the Hotel, there was a rat walking in the middle the lobby. At first we were kind of disappointment but things happen. what we didn't like that it took about 20 mins until staff actually did something about. The hotel has strong dirty smell in the lobby, and bad one in the hallways, like if they never clean the carpet. While the hotel its old, it is not a excuses to have walls scratch , parts missing and lack of customer service. The rooms were okay, barely clean and outdated a/c unit. Hopefully on day they notice they losing thousand of dollars because if this hotel were to rebuilt, it would a GOLDEN mine for tourist.
