This review is not a negative review of the hotel. Rather it is a result of a horrible experience with kayak and their vendors. Upon arriving at the hotel, I was told at the front desk my reservation did not exist. After showing them several emails from kayaks vendors, they told me those confirmation numbers did not exist if that was the fifth person with the same issue booking through kayak that day. After several hours on the phone with no successful resolution with kayaks vendors, my partner was finally able to secure a room for us at another hotel. We are still trying to resolve this issue with. I will not be booking through kayak again.
Rooms were incredibly tiny. Elevators did not work.
Great hotel, great service, great room. Couldn't have been happier with the Hotel Allegro The booking site Amoma.com gave me an invalid confirmation number, and since the hotel was already full for the second half of my stay, I ended up quite stressed out and dragging my luggage around for a full day until the hotel had a cancellation and I was able to stay. Amoma.com was very responsive and professional when they finally responded (I think they're based in Switzerland), and I think some third party was responsible for the booking problem, but regardless, my stay was more distressing than I had hoped for. If you have a choice, I would recommend booking with another agency for this location.

The location. My wife and I went to see the Phantom of the Opera playing next door at the Cadillac Palace. I can't say enough about the convenience of having the hotel next door. no having to walk blocks to our vehicle. Walked down the sidewalk and into the hotel, was able to avoid the cold Chicago weather. The Room. We stayed in Room 405. Our view out of the 2 windows, the first was a brick wall, the second, an alley way. At about 2am, for some reason the windows decided they wanted to bang against the frame endlessly, not allowing neither my wife or I to sleep. The bed was definately not a King Bed, and for it being a Premier Room, I would have expected the bathroom to be bigger than the size of a closet. I can't say I wouldn't stay here again, but would want to see the room before check-in.
Luxurious hotel The room is much smaller than it seems in the photos. Walls are super thin which makes privacy very difficult. Expect to hear your neighbors.
The receptionist messed up my receipt.I used my company's card to stay and I am the only person who stay in the hotel.And when checking out,I just asked for the receipt but didn't check it.after coming back,I have to use the receipt to do my reinbursement,but found out that it is not under my name and the stay person wrote down two,which looks pretty bad on me!i called the hotel to change the receipt name,they refused it bc it is a past reservation! The most annoying thing is that when I checked out using the compan card,I asked them if it is ok to pay with a card not under my name.they didn't say anything.and the worst thing is that the receptionist change the name of my reservation in the system and didn't tell me about it.moreover,the receipt amount doesn't match my reservation amount which is also ridiculous!!!All in all, this experiment almost cost me to not be able to reinburse my stay. They r obviously not professional and it gives me a really bad memory here!
I really liked the location of this hotel. Even though I booked it for a friend, I was next door at the Westin. One thing I REALLY loved was the fact that you need a key to use the elevators to go onto the floors. That was a perk. BUT. My room wasn't 100% cleaned. When I went to check in, I went up to the room and looked it over. There was leftover food in the mini fridge, there was a few bottles of alcoholic drinks missing that Im hoping Im not going to be charged for, even thought house keeping came up and told me I wouldn't be charged. NOT only that, there were condoms(unused) and a bottle of lube left in the room. My only issues...

I was here Sunday through Friday. My sink broke on Tuesday and was never repaired. They changed the towels and made the bed, but didn't clean the room. I shutter to think what the sticky substance on the bedside table was. I didn't eat any gummy candies, but kept finding bits of said candies in the room. Clearly, it hasn't been cleaned in awhile.
Cool, hip decor, great location to restaurants and 10Pin Bowling alley, just steps away from House of Blues, walking distance to shopping district and theater district, Marina Parking garage has great rates just next door. Finishes could use a makeover, I have stayed there for years and it could use an update. Would rather see a walk in shower instead of cheaper looking old tubs (however OUTSTANDING water pressure). Breakfast is a little pricey too.

Beautufully located in downtown Chicago, we enjoyed close proxumity to restaurants and attractions. The room had most everything one would expect, except a mini-fridge. We did not get to dine in the hotel but the bar and restaurant both looked great. Our 8th floor room had a brief view of the river but was obstructed by the parking garage. Parking is $71. We chose to park 4 blocks away ($20 overnight).
The rooms are nice size, it's in a great location, the fitness center is nice and the bar is popular. The rooms have an eclectic look. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is quiet. The staff was attentive and curtious. The price was very good for the location. We ordered food at the bar and they checked on it twice but it never came. Everything else was great
Location in the heart of Chicago downtown. Lack of concern for the interests of customers. I was a Marriot Gold Elite member and after this recent stay I felt like I should quit the reward program for good.
Overall hotel is good...good location, nice athmosphere, etc Bugs in the bed! ... Woman hair in the bed! ... Air conditioner not working properly....

Great customer service! The staff was very helpful and informative. The Manager spent about 20 minutes with us outlining key points on a map he provided of places to go and things to see as well as the walking distance from the hotel. The whole staff was very friendly. The ambiance of the hotel decor & design was outstanding, not to mention the perfect view from our room. The location is superb & right in the center of Chicago's nightlife. The only thing that I didn't like about the place is that they shut down the pool area earlier than most hotels. But overall would rate this hotel a perfect 10. Great experience and would definitely recommend!
Hotel location was excellent close to shopping at Magnificent Mile and with several good restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Concierge was not on top form but everyone can have an off time so not a problem and all other staff extremely helpful

The hotel was clean and very nice. All staff I encountered were very nice. The best part in my book was the location. It was right on the river (although because of a brick wall that creates a little courtyard outside the lobby/restaurant you can't see the river from the main floor entrance way, but you could see it from above and below this location). It was comfortable. It smelled nice (they push their "signature scent" out in the lobby which is fresh and pleasant). There are MANY restaurants within walking distance, including one of my favorites, Frontera (upscale Mexican). There's also a restaurant right outside the lower level doors (take the two escalators down) that's right on the river. You're within walking distance of Michigan Avenue (if you like to walk) or you could always take a cab to that area if walking too much isn't appealing. The location really can't be beat. Really the only thing I didn't like was how very DARK it was in the lobby of this hotel. They need to add some attractive lighting (chandeliers, lamps) so it feels more cheerful. I understand that this used to be a Niko Hotel and was done in the Japanese style (which is still evident). If they're not going to add lighting, then adding some fountains for pleasant ambient noise would be good. I would also suggest that they add more "windows" in their brick wall in the courtyard outside the lobby/restaurant. I know there's a sidewalk out there that they likely wanted to "protect" the hotel from, but their present set-up misses the view of the river and downtown.

The chase lounge chair next to the window. I enjoyed the view of the city and the river. I liked watching the tour boats coming and going. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice and the room was quiet. I felt that the staff were courteous and helpful. Nothing that I can think of.
The location is good, slightly away from the bustle of Michigan Avenue, but not too far. Everything is within walking distance and in a nice area. Nice, friendly staff. It would have been great to have a mini refrigerator in the room and the room temperature was a bit colder than my comfort level.

Nothing Paid for standard room and was told that's a sleeper couch in a room that is really the living room for a suite. Room also smelled like cat urine, couldn't stay there, booked a room at Hotel Intercontinental on Michigan Ave and was treated to a nice room and free breakfast.

location was ok, although there are so many hotels downtown its not like you dont have choice way to expensive for what you get, i wouldnt stay here again for $220 night, i'm sure there is something better. rooms are typical 1994, boring patched up, siliconed but clean. if it was $120 a night then i might be ok. food at the restaurant was average but trying to be fancy, picture costco chicken parmesan all dressed up with wait staff in black trying to hard to be mod.

The staff was excellent. Everyone was very friendly & helpful, from the front desk to the breakfast staff. Nice room. Nice view of city. Great location to downtown attractions, restaurant, etc. I would stay there again. Minor complaints only. We were staying 4 nights and the room only had 2 tiny drawers for clothes & a small closet. Not a huge deal, but we had to leave a lot of clothes in our suitcases. As I said, the breakfast staff was fabulous, the food, however, was just okay. Weekdays seemed to have more variety, weekend days the choices were extremely limited. They ran out of half & half cream for the coffee after the first day & it was not restocked throughout the rest of our stay.
We are a young family and this hotel was a great fit for us. Chicago is a very welcoming to families and the staff here was no exception. From the doormen, to the front desk staff, to the dining room manager, everyone doted over our daughter and did everything they could to make sure our stay effortless and enjoyable. The location was great too. Not far from the magnificant mile and adjacent to many restaurants.

Location was excellent. Staff was also very good. Lady in charge of the breakfast area was always happy and going above and beyond to help and to make sure we felt 'at home'. The breakfast area is definitely small for the size of hotel and nbr of guests. It was difficult to find a table and buffet line was long and layout made difficult for people to move around. Pool area did have towels and small kids took over the hot tub.

The location is great. Some stuff at the reception are mostly very impolite, not trying to offering helpful suggestions, acting as if the customers are just willing to cause problems, which is definitely not matching to the level.
The location of the hotel was great! The room was comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a plus. I requested a high floor, but instead received a room on the 5th floor facing a parking structure overlooking trash bins. I was awaken every morning to the sound of a garbage truck dumping trash bins. Because of location, I was unable to open the windows.
It was very clean I was disappointed that I didn't get the room I had already reserved online. When I checked in they said they didn't have that room available which made no sense because I had reserved it like a week and a half before my trip.
Room configuration was awesome, staff was great especially the gal at the breakfast bar she kept the atmosphere light and was focused on making the experience a great one. Don't remember her name but has an accent and talks to every guest.
