Lovely hotel for great price on Michigan Ave. It's close to everything cool in Chicago. Staff was friendly, and was helpful. When I forgot my toothbrush they were able to find one for us. The rooms were clean and well put together.
Nothing. Room was really small. Room was run down. Dirty. Overpriced. Staff was not helpful when they gave us the wrong room (one even yelled at us).
Location on Michigan Ave is perfect, price is good Really late check in (5pm), slow elevators, noisy hallways, outdated rooms, no free wifi
Bed was comfortable, room was very clean and nicely furnished. Missing some basic things like luggage rack. Hotel lobby desperately needs basic amenities like a chilled water dispenser (coffee is nice but it's hot outside!!!)
It was very loud; lots of LED lights that you had to creatively cover; and staff gives conflicting information about the no housekeeping $10 credit.
The hotel is conveniently located in the city The cost of the room was very high. I was willing to pay the price but, my expectations were set high for such a small non-view room.
This hotel is very centrally located to many Chicago sites and attractions. A cool building, staff and accommodations are all excellent. I recommend this hotel. We will be back. The age of the building means that while rich in character, the quirks of the room layout and small size could bother some people.
Such great staff! So helpful and they anticipated every need. A great experience!
Nothing except its location 1- Staff aren't friendly. 2- The furniture and the bed sheets are so dirty.
Raoul and the other breakfast servers were excellent The carpet in my room1504 seemed old and dirty
Convenient location We were downgraded rooms and charged the same amount.
The location, cleanliness, reception service, coffee service, breakfast service, bar service with food, valet service, room service, housekeeping service and reservation service! The room size & configuration, room price did not include internet access and breakfast service! Hence, the value for money was missing in my opinion!
Every thing is good
The location is fantastic. It is great for sightseeing and shopping. The room was comfortable and modern. The beds were comfortable. The staff on check-in were not very friendly. The room was not equipped with a coffeemaker and should have been. The elevators are small and no one offered to help us with taking our luggage to our room. We had asked for a baby crib to be placed in the room on our reservation special requests and when we checked in, we were told there was no crib in the hotel. However, the staff ensured that a crib was delivered to the room immediately.
The location for us worked but the bathrooms need more space for storing cosmetics, toothbrushes, The showers sprayed water all over the floor and is a bad design. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and would return if the price stays lower as others in the area. same above
should have free wi-fi
We had a great time.It was really comfortable and had the best ubication! We will recomend it! Front desk personel at night must improve!!
The very comfortable bed. There was no counter top or shelf in the bathroom for storing personal items such as toothbrushes and travel bag of toiletries.
Convenience of location, quietness of location, beds, comforters and pillows quite comfortable, staff quick to respond Bathroom: design flaw allows shower water to immediately drain onto floor, which has no drain; sink counter won't hold soap; inadequate # towel racks.
The front desk was so nice and helpful! I would definitely recommmend this hotel to friends and stay here again!
the size, cleanliness of rooms was a great value for price. did not like the fact that housekeeping knocks on your door at 8am if you did not put do not disturb sign up.
Beautiful room. Inpecable service
Really enjoyed how friendly everyone was towards us especially since we were a young couple there and the staff told us good morning and everything each day and always had a smile on their face I can't really say I didn't like anything about the hotel or service. The only thing was it was a little expensive for us. Other than that everything was excellent
I would guess that most people who gave this place a positive review have never stayed at trump. For the same price trump offers a vastly better experience and much more comfort. The gym and spa at trump make this place look like a spa from rural Cambodia. Rooms were an ever so slightly better version of the Conrad. No pillow menu. No glacier water. No espresso machine in room. No microwave or stovetop with dishwasher( all present at trump). And no cake with gold leaf on it for my birthday!!!
Great location across from Saks and neiman marcus. Hotel gorgeous, bright, elegant in public areas, very comfortable and luxurious room and bathroom
I've stayed at several nice hotels in Chicago and this is by far my favorite. Very comfortable, tastefully decorated, incredible A-V/home automation controls. This was the perfect home-base for a multi-day business trip. The atrium also had a splendid Sunday brunch with string quartet. Couldn't be better
EVERYTHING, THE SERVICE WAS THE BEST AND THE BATHROOMS LARGE AND BEAUTIFULLY DONE. NICE TOUCHES EVERYWHERE! NOTHING
I took my 5 year old to see Chicago. I love the quiet of the hotel. The staff was great. You get what you pay for.
It was an elegant, comfortable weekend at one of the best hotels anywhere. Nothing
I liked the location of the hotel, and also enjoyed the updated decor of the hotel. The bedding was excellent! Very important to me.... it was clean and luxurious. The bath rooms also were in excellent condition. It did meet my standards. (Extremely picky) I did not like that we had to go to the 12th floor to get to reception.
Fabulous service, fabulous food, fabulous room. I can't recommed this hotel highly enough!!
Beautiful hotel, very enjoyable. Neither Booking com nor the hotel warned us that a change in the reservation, leaving a night earlier, would result in an increase in the quoted daily rate. We were only told that cancellation was required 24 hours in advance without penalty.
location need sound proof windows,,,,could hear sirens all night
Is the best, perfect ubication
Pretty hotel with nice location Thin walls. Noisy halls. Some staff friendly but others not. Got a good deal but wouldn't pay full price for tiny room. Bathroom needs updating/ more thorough cleaning (shower curtain ripped and some mold on end of shower curtain rod)
From the moment you pull up in front of the InterContinental you know you've made a wise choice. A friendly, suited doorman opened the cab door and welcomed us into the beautiful lobby decorated with a 4-story Christmas tree. We checked in and an exceptionally friendly clerk, Mariana, made sure we were given a quiet corner room, per our request. Our room was clean, spacious, and newly renovated - but not overdone. The wi-fi was fast, the bathroom toiletries lovely, and the room was quiet. Stop and see the pool -- it is the original, and its gorgeous. How often do you see chandeliers over a swimming pool that once boasted Esther Williams as a swimmer? Best of all, the location. Between Ontario Street and the Chicago Tribune, right before the river -- perfect! When we stepped off the elevator the rug was worn and shabby. This was our only complaint about the decor.
Location was fantastic and newly renovated older tower was lovely. Pool and health center were fantastic When we parked in the garage, no one offered to help us with our luggage. The parking fee was astronomical at $67 a night. I was charged $400 plus dollars for a mini bar that we never touched and it was obviously from another room as the names on the requests were not us. One employee said she would have to investigate and it would delay our checkout. NOT GOOD! I called the front desk again and spoke to someone else who immediately removed it
Location, staff, great pool and work put facilities. We were able to walk where ever we needed to go. Architecture is beautiful. Great place to stay. Comfortable rooms, nice view. We loved our stay and will go back. Need a better coffee maker. Small microwave in room. Fridge for your own soft drinks. Mini bar was very expensive
This Intercontinental is in a great location on the Magnificent Mile. The rooms are spacious and the bed and bathrooms are nicely updated. The pool was very nice as well. I would recommend the valet if you are staying a over 24 hours they have a flare rate and you can leave and come back. Parking around the area is just as expensive but you can't leave and comeback. They also gave me late checkout of 2 PM.
Nice bar and restaurant in the hotel Very slow elevators, mini-bar costs were outrageous. No one wants those any more. Guests would like a frig and microwave. Cost of room was outrageous for how mediocre the rooms were. The parking is a total rip off at $67 a night.
Great location Dirty bathtub, lights out in bathroom of room 541
The location was top notch in a historic building- it was pointed out during our architectural boat tour! Our room's windows were inches from a brick wall which made me feel very unsafe. No notice that it was an interior rom when we booked. In addition, we could hear the wedding reception going on below. Sure this hotel has plenty of rooms, but do you really want to chance it that you will be placed in one without a window?
Lack of comfortable lounge area in the bar area. Years back there was a very ample lounge area for either for couples or larger groups. Too bad they eliminated it. I am also glad the re-opened the pool early.
This hotel has a long history and floor plans are quirky but the rooms are remodeled and modern. Our room in the historic tower had a 31st floor view that happened to have windows facing 3 different directions for a 270 degree view from Michigan Avenue to Lake Michigan (I think it was the only one on the floor with that expansive view). Minibar charges when we didnt use anything is always really annoying. I would have hoped a nice hotel like the Intercontinental wouldn't have this issue.
We like everything - Room, Level of Service - from checkin to valet
Staff is always outstanding in restaurants, bars, and throughout the hotel. Additionally, I was not sure what room type I would have had, but I was told I was upgraded to a King with a view.
Location This is not a 5 star hotel in my opinion. Lacking in quite a few too many areas. Lights in the room never worked, spa facilities were medicore at best, in room amenities were sparse. I expect more out of a 5 star.
There's so much to like about this hotel: service, location, accommodations, etc. Everything about this hotel is set up to make sure your stay is perfect.

The hotel was very luxurious, clean and quiet. The bed was amazing and the views from the room were very pretty. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

The location and staff were both excellent. Everyone we encountered went out of their way to help us anyway they could. The carpeting in the hallway was extremely dirty. The room carpeting was dirty as well. The room could have been cleaned a little more thorough as well. Walls and cabinets had smudges and leftover spills on them.
Great location, friendly staff, comfortable beds, free internet, coffee and warm cider in lobby, large bathrooms

Full size mattresses sold as queen size
Everything!!!! Cost of parking.
This hotel is exactly what you'd expect from a stay in Downtown Chicago. Imposing structure, bustling atmosphere, and lofty prices. The central location couldn't be beat and the view provides you a look at the city no matter which direction you face. Room was clean and modern. After some initial difficulties, a new room was provided and sorted out with a credit to be used with breakfast (delicious breakfast, but expect to be charged the Chicago price for it). The price for staying directly on the Magnificent Mile shouldn't be surprising. The lobby was constantly occupied and persistently loud, which also is indicative of a stay in Chicago. The initial room assignment seemed to belong to another individual as there appeared to be clothing in the closet and a suitcase laid out when the door upon a very brief inspection from the cracked door. After informing the front desk, a new room was quickly assigned...but only one of the two keys ended up working. After our final trip to the front desk, we were in better shape and the breakfast the next day was delicious. The room was by no means spacious, but exactly in what you'd expect from Chicago standards. Don't forget you'll be paying for parking, which is at least simplified by the ability to charge to your room.
The best part is that the Merriot is in the "heart of the city". Offsite parking.
Location Old, small rooms, poor plumbing. It's an embarrassment for Marriot. Don't stay here
I arrived 2am and there was no reservation and the company never told me there was a problem with my card. Spend until 4am getting another reservation for next day and then arrived and there was no reservation again. They ruined my entire business trip. had to spend half day looking for another hotel. The first night Marriott accommodated me in a room that was not what I expected. At least had a place to sleep. They were kind and very helpful, but the room I got was not what I expected. But It wasn't hotel's fault was getaroom.com fault.
Please get Keurig coffee pots in each room
The view from the room was very good The staff was excellent. The place had a very modern feel and look. The bed was very comfortable I would go back. The room did not have enough outlets. The room was small for the cost.
Great location, great staff No fridge or microwave
Great newly updated rooms and incredible gym that puts many Health Clubs to shame. Room Svc leaves a bit to be desired but luckily they're located in great proximity to many great restaurants.
Location and decent sized, clean rooms. We booked day of stay and got a good rate. I would actually rate it a 3.5, but I didn't have that option. Extremely uncomfortable, stiff sheets.
It is such a big hotel I found it chaotic especially with several different events going on. Crowds of people, lots of noise. Just too big a apace for me!
Beautiful hotel, great location. Very pleased with our stay. And very close to the red line.
Concierge, door men excellent. Paying for with fi? Really...at these prices? Terrible. $10.00 to use 15 min. Had no idea. Showed up on statement. Housekeeping fine first night but 2nd night left our duvets on floor and when we called to report they actually asked what we would like them to do about it. After telling them we wanted some new duvets a maid came and complied. Next day we returned to find all of our pillows with shams gone...not a functional problem since we still had pillows to sleep on but since they are part of the decor we weren't sure what that was all about. They were on the bed when we left that morning. Overall the room was quiet but I think we could do better next time. Hotel being renovated so maybe the reno rooms will blow you away...ours did not. Other than housekeeping staff the rest of staff was helpful but could have been more accommodating when we missed a night of our reservation due to being snowed in at airport in philly and unable to get there. If they couldn't refund a night of our pre paid room we thought we might have recd a complimentary night in future. They told us to ask price line about that but price line pushed it back to them...
I have been a Marriott guy for some time and had the opportunity to stay at an Omni Hotel in Dallas and decided to give it another try in Chicago because my Dallas experience was so good. They are a true class act! Nothing!
My husband and I recently stayed at the Omni with are 1 year old twins. The staff was more than accommodating. Everything from gift bags for the girls to bringing up a microwave and refrigerator. We will be back!
Location is great. Staff helpful.
Really enjoyed the stay here, very comfortable and a great location for the price. I needed to make a last minute update to stay a few more nights as my travel was cancelled due to weather. The employees were extremely helpful in letting me keep the same room and at the same rate. Stayed on the same floor as the pool, so some noisy kids were expected
I liked it all
The people at Wyndham were so helpful making sure everything was perfect for us! No.
The air conditioning. Our room was not ready at check-in. The bed skirt was torn and stained. The in-room movie played very poorly. The staff was unfriendly.
The staff was very helpful and freindly. The room was clean and very nice located near a lot of shopping. Our stay was very enjoyable and we will stay here again soon.
Close to shops at magnificent mile Pool was small and not kid friendly. A 16oz pop was $4 plus tax at hotel store
The location was within walking distance to Everything. The hotel was very comfortable.
Brenda served us for breakfast most days. She was a the best. Always attentive friendly. Took care of us well. Our last day we had a different waitress and our order wasn't right, we couldn't get her attention and had to get a manager in order to get our check. When you go for breakfast in the fabulous restaurant, ask for Brenda. Loved the green drink with Apple, spinach and ginger. It was really good.
The accomodations were comfortable, the hotel beautiful, the location convenient, the staff extremely knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. Not really. A common suggestion that I have is in relation to the lights at the nightstand. Most places I've stayed, including this hotel, have both lights for double beds in between them. It would be better to have a light on the far side of the bed so the guest sleeping in the other bed is not disturbed by the late-night reader (me!).
Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Courteous and friendly staff. Location is excellent for shopping. I definitely would return to stay again.
Service was amazing. Location was awesome!
First. Stay there and was given a free upgrade
friendly and convenient ,
The location of the James is ideal for visiting the River North area. The room is clean, reasonable size, and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Even on the 17th floor, there was a lot of street noise. We could even hear the saxophone player at the corner of Rush and Ohio! We also had a charge for the room honor bar that was added to our bill even though we did not use it. Watch your receipts!
Staying at the James in Chicago was a real pleasure. It is a very nice hotel to come home after a long day.
The art collection was great. The noise traveled into the rooms from the hallways. It was very easy to hear my neighbors going in & out of their rooms in the morning.
great staff with helpful info.
we were delightfully surprised to find that the hotel had a free "shuttle" when we were headed out for dinner. It really wasn't a shuttle …. more like a very nice, well dressed young man driving a nice sedan to our location. A great touch! The doorman was awesome as well. Very personable, approachable, and helpful.
The hotel was luxurious, however there was a problem with the room card/key it didn't work on 3 different occasions, I had to get help from the concierge. I missed the deadline for reserving a room at an advantageous rate for the Spak/Schechner wedding and paid a lot of money to Hotwire for my room. No deal with them... I did have a delux room though and would recommend this hotel to those who can afford it. I inquired about the use of a swimming pool at the hotel and the desk folks told me I could use the pool at the Sheraton across the street. Wonderful! I did and felt relaxed and refreshed after my swim. The card/room key didn't work on 3 different occasions.
Friendly staff. Great rooms
The location is great. Just a block off of Mag Mile if you are there to shop. Trader Joe's across the street if you want to buy snacks/water for the room. Close/walkable to downtown (Loop) and River North neighborhoods. The staff was great and my wife loved the bathroom products (shampoo/conditioner/body wash) THIS HOTEL IS NOT 5 STAR. Kayak has it listed as 5 star and it is not. Closets are very small...only a couple of feet wide. Not a lot of drawer space. If traveling on business, not easy to work in room.
Great location. All the staff friendly efficient nothing too much trouble . Room spaceous and clean. The best hotel we've stayed in.EXCELLENT. Would definately stay again.
I really loved/liked and grateful we were able to check in early when we arrived early in the morning after our flight. I think it's well worth it especially because we were staying only one night. For my taste, I liked the contemporary classy decor and atmosphere. The atmosphere in our room felt romantic. The king size bed and the comfort of the bed and linen was awesome for my taste. I especially liked the room my friends were staying in. They had a little movie projector room. We paid the same price but they were staying there a little bit longer than we were. But I did like their room. Staff was very friendly and informative when asked about recommendations of transportation and location of places nearby. Me personally, and just my opinion, we weren't too fond of the shampoo/conditioner and body wash scents.
Spacious, clean room 1) Can't make a cup of of coffee in the room 2) Breakfast is a bit expensive 3) house keeping kept bothering me for few hours before I checked out. They need to learn to bug the guest until he/she leaves the room
attention to the details excellent. none
Fantastic location, great comfort, spotless, incredibly obliging with a "nothing is too much trouble attitude" - everything one needs when staying at a hotel.
we were given a large upgrade on our room . to a suite- the reception staff were very kind.they went out of there way to make us feel welcome
The Conrad Hotel was first class, very well located in downtown Chicago, with ecxellent service and clean comfortable rooms. I would highly reccommend it to anyone as a Chicago city hotel.
Clean, helpful staff, good location and overall value. I wouldn't say it's old, but some of the decor and appointments are outdated.
Close to many downtown activities at a fair price The room could have been cleaner
The pool Big yellow stain on carpet Bathroom light wouldn't stay on and flickered the whole time Wasn't able to get ready in bathroom and made showering very interesting to say the least We would have changed rooms but we were running late to my birthday plans Complained in the am and they said they could do nothing bc I didn't book they them directly. I was very upset how the manager handled the situation We spent $240 on a one night stay for my birthday and cookies were offered but with attitude
location, price are great room was very comfortable, but not as clean as we would expect, in fact cleanliness was our only "ding".
We loved our stay at the doubletree, complimentary cookies and the front desk, the bed was lovely and the location is great, only few blocks from the magnificent mile. My husband woke up at night due to the outside street noise (cars&sirens) I personally did not hear it. I guess it depends how light of a sleeper someone is.
Seems there were some residents on my floor - sounded like families that did not have a home. They were noisy, loud, baby crying and unattended, See above.
Parking is $55 per day
Went up to Chicago to catch a craft beer festival. The hotel was very accommodating, helping us take our many, many, manyou cases of beer and two tiny bags of luggage to our room. With the convenience of in and out parking and even providing plates when our pizza was delivered made our short stay amazing. Would definitely stay here again City garage parking is sooooooooo expensive!
The wait time for an elevator was excessive at 9:30AM Sunday morning. I was on the 6th floor waiting to go down to the Lobby. 6 cars stopped, all full, over the span of 10 minutes. I finally got on a car that had an open spot, but was going up, and then rode it down - meanwhile the car stopped on 7 other floors. It seems to me a more "fair" algorithim could be employed to have an elevator car stop for someone on the 6th floor. If it weren't for the amount of luggage I had to carry, I would of course taken the stairs.
Very convenient location, walking distance from the Magnificient Mile, the Wrigley Building, and Millenium Park. Many restaurants nearby, and bagel/coffee shop near the hotel lobby. Nice outdoor pool. No free internet in the room. Noise from repairs (drilling) in neighboring room(s) every morning (weekdays).
Stayed one night and paid $76.00 dollars to park
This hotel has an amazing location being just a couple of blocks away from Michigan Ave and being on the lake side near Navy Pier. Having a WholeFoods kitty corner to the hotel was quite handy. The hotel staff was incredibly nice and attentive. They do an excellent job of keeping the place clean. We had such a wonderful time that we decided to stay an extra night. Not having a mini fridge in the room was a little inconvenient.
Stayed here Dec 12-14, 2014, this was our 2nd time staying here due to close proximity to Navy Pier's Winter Wonderland. Last year the Manager's reception offered better appetizers, seemed to be a bit cheaper this year. Staff is wonderful and room was really clean. We had an issue with the thermostat, it was almost 80 degrees the whole stay. The kids love it here, it's really family oriented. They seemed to like swimming in the pool better than Winter Wonderland, they made several little friends during our short stay. Will probably be back next year, we love it here.
Located close to shopping and conference centers Amenities are average
Very good location Hotel wasn't nearly as nice as other embassy suites I have stayed at.
Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Enjoyed happy hour each night.
Nice hotel, casual and comfortable. Great breakfast. Very convenient to Navy Pier. Would definitely reccomend to friends and would stay here again.
Friendly staff and clean facility No complaints
Staff was very helpful and we were able to get a later checkout upon our departure, which was nice and allowed to kids to swim for a bit before we left. Check in and out was easy, and parking was easily accessible. The price on the all inclusive Disney kids on Demand TV package I order did not reflect what was charged to my bill. It was only a difference of $2.99 and ultimately not a big deal, but still, I feel as though you should be paying what you are quoted. Also, being that it was a holiday weekend, it would have been nice if breakfast was open until 10 as it is on the weekends, but I get the weekend vs. weekend schedule. The lines were a bit long by the end of breakfast and early breakfast is always hard to do with my kids. But again, not a huge deal in the whole scheme of things. We will definitely be back.
Great location and comfortable rooms; breakfast was an awesome surprise in variety and quality Room service was slow, rooms not super clean and could definitely do without the lobby dance music during the day when kids were napping
Not convient. Poor service
Liked everything about it! Amazing location, nice facilities, and friendly staff.
Centrally located and friendly staff. Great size room and amenities for the price. Housekeeping could have been better. Room not cleaned until 5 pm and cleaning was substandard. Wet towels left in room and dirty coffee cups. Beds too hard. Also, teenage kids were given a handicap accessible room. We were not told about this until we saw the room. Didn't need to take up that kind of room, but after they had already unpacked, didn't want to change rooms.
Toilet flush was EXTREMELY loud. And we could hear the toilets from other rooms as well.
Spacious, very well equiped suites with fridges, microwaves and two TV's - very handy when the World Cup clashes with Wimbledon. All furnishings and fabrics in rooms are of the highest quality. Almost all the staff were very friendly, extremely polite and most helpful. Great location for the Chicago tourist. Swimming Pool needs a refurb, now looking dated and tired. Air-con in gym and workout rooms not working therefore uncomfortably hot. Internet connections in Rooms too slow and no weekly rate for using the facility.
Basic Internet was kind of hit or miss on access and performance
Clean and comfortable, loved the location, safety, suite was roomy for our two or could accomodate three easily.
Very nice Hotel with a great staff. Valet service was good, bell service was good, front desk service was great. Restuarant was average, parking was expensive.
The facilities are good. The location is excellent. The parking is outrageous. $66/day but I think that's Chicago. One of the hotel staff was a bit rude, but the others more than made up for his behavior.
Beautiful views from the pool & workout areas. Room was very comfortable. Nice location. No jacuzzi. The sauna was nailed shut.
When I had a problem with the professionality of one of the staff members, the General Manager took action fast and worked a satisfying solution to the problem. The only thing I didn't care for about this Hotel is that it did not offer a shuttle to the airport or my convention.
Charles Nancy was very rude and put out by helping me. Also, our keys did not work twice and the cost of the room service is quite ridiculous....$7.00 for dry cereal, plus 18% gratuity pluse $2.50 delivery?! Maybe if the staff was friendly and the service was better, but no way would I ever pay that for a bowl of corn flakes.
We arrived and there was no parking available and the hot water didn't seem to get any warmer than room temperature.
