I was not allowed on board due to absence of a transit visa for HongKong (I had few hours transit there before my next flight back to EU). I am allowed to stay up to 48h in HK airport for transit without any visa, I had to quickly find and purchase the flight ticket to HK with another airlines, with them it was no problem to fly to HK for transit. All other few flights with AirAsia were bad as well. We were refused to get water as a complimentary during a log flight from HK to Manila. Every flight was always delayed up to ~1 h.

The plane didn't crash.

Boarding was late and terribly disorganized - just a person yelling row numbers who could barely be heard. The airline makes you pay for water, which is simply inhuman - at least cattle in transport are given free water from time to time. It was a five-hour flight at night but we couldn't put the seats back to relax - the exit row was behind us and they've got the seats crammed in so tight together that they don't give the exit row any extra room to accommodate this, like most airlines. There are ads plastered all over the storage compartments. Recorded announcements threatened us with dire consequences if we stole the life vests (is that a thing people do?!). Everything looks cruddy, dingy and old. It feels like a cheap city bus, but in the air. At the end of the flight the crew walked through fumigating the cabin with spray cans of who-the-hell-knows-what and we had to breathe THAT in. We won't even consider Air Asia again unless there are literally no other possible choices. Just awful.

The food is shockingly decent. Yeah you have to pay cash and it’s not convenient, but the food is edible and there is lots of variety.

AirAsia sucks balls. Or at least, it was fine leaving Singapore, but returning from a crappy small town airport to it was a fraudulent nightmare. We were told to check in online and add baggage at least two days before flying to avoid excessive baggage fees. So we paid them the first time, no problem. But AirAsias website is clearly coded by bricks with fingers. Because 6,5,4, and 3 days prior, it says such service is unavailable. Okay, we’ll do it at the airport then, it’ll be nice and easy just like at Changi. Only at this crappy subpar excuse for an airport, they live by no rules and want to charge $300USD - more than double what was charged at Changi - for two 20kg bags. 20kg, which my boarding pass and my booking both say we are entitled to, is suddenly 5kg in excess, so they want to screw your American wallet hard, long, and good because even if you had a good time, chances are you will never pass through the half baked gas station that is Langkawi again. Oh yeah and don’t bother paying for the WiFi - they get you good there too - 10mb which is basically a couple jpegs but you won’t get squat anyway. Literally nothing, and then suddenly your puny 10mb has disappeared, along with your money and what’s left of AirAsias credibility.

Why did the entertainment get shut off more than 30 minutes before landing?

KUL

OK 5.0

The plane seemed relatively new and the entertainment system had good choices. The seats were comfortable and business class was fairly empty

The boarding process was chaotic at best. The gate had long lines to go through security for 2 flights departing from that area which caused big delays. The plane managed to be loaded relatively on time but removing baggage from a customer who chose not to fly took almost an hour as compared to the 10 minute estimate. By the time we taxied, I was certain that I was in danger of missing my Hong Kong connection and asked the flight attendant to have the pilot radio American to inform them, I got the impression that my request was a low priority for the disinterested crew and, as feared, I missed my connection which forced a daylong wait in Hong Kong. The plane was a 737-800. Malaysia, unlike it's peers, flies mostly narrow bodies inter Asia as they disposed of all their 777's after the second 777 was shot down. I lived in Malaysia and Singapore for eight years in the late '80's and early '90's, at which time I thought that Malaysian was the best airline in the sky. Sadly, their present service is US airline quality at best without the general ability of US carriers to keep to schedule which makes them one of the worst in Asia.

Cabin crew were professional and courteous. I like the boarding at rear of airplane first

For me, the seats a were uncomfortable. No lower back support.

We got to the destination.

-fee to check bags -changed gate without updating status board and delayed boarding -though none could be found, cabin smelt like vomit -no food included, charged money for water. Yes, water. -constant (and unnecessary) updates on PA system -often attempted to sell AirAsia branded paraphernalia during flight while everyone was trying to sleep -sprayed an unknown substance into the cabin to "sanitize" just before we landed (insecticide?!). We were given a warning literally 10 seconds before they sprayed it.

Just awful.

Prices are per person, are for e–tickets and include all taxes & fees in MYR.

We attempt to get accurate prices, however, prices are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tons of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.

More questions or if you have a bad price to report to us
Please send us an and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
