Cons: It was hot, again. Really hot. The movies weren’t different and I’d watched the ones I wanted to see on the way to Paris. The seats were uncomfortable.
Sucked
Pros: I paid extra for a window seat. Didn’t get it. The plane was hot. The seats were uncomfortable. When we landed we were stuck on the ground for an hour waiting for a bus to take us to the terminal.
Cons: I wish I was on a different airline on the way home.
Cons: Slow boarding, not able to select seat in advance
Pros: The leg room and the recline was the best I’ve had in a budget economy class, and I was not expecting a snack and two full meals. They also gave each of us a flower when boarding. It was a charming touch.
Pros: The airconditioned lounge and shower for business class after sweating in line through security.
Lay flat seats.
Cons: Headsets had a weird jack and weren’t noise cancelling, wish it left a couple hours earlier, and for some reason, my feet kept bottoming out in the footwell but I wasn’t fully reckoned.
Pros: Amazing, brand new plane. State of the art business class seats. Nice crew
Pros: Totally reasonably way to fly to tahiti. It seems like a well run airline.
Pros: They bumped me off they also told me I had no insurance when I thought I bought the insurance from him flight. They are talking to see if I can get on the plane for Monday at 1:30 so I'm still at the LAXM very upset when I thought I bought insurance I had a important business in Paris and then I was heading out to Iraq to our mission day so I'm very upset right now thank you is there something you can do to make sure
Pros: Crew was nice, fresh frangipani flower a nice touch. Seats in economy were BAD. No room and uncomfortable. Breakfast was nice fruit and the omelette was pretty basic
Pros: Liked the tahitian atmosphere on the plane.
Cons: Seats were uncomfortable and hurt my back.
Cons: Legroom is tight and narrow..smaller than your average space in coach.
Cons: I have purchased the priority pass but it didn't work. Was very disappointed. I could have saved money by not purchasing it.
Cons: Very tight seating-uncomfortable. Crew was not very friendly
Pros: The entertainment
Pros: The crew was astonishingly good. I really was amazed with the whole crew sense of service and kindness.
Cons: Hard to say.. really
Pros: The crew's service, the food and availability of food and drink throughout the whole flight.
Cons: The cabin temperature, it was too warm.
Excellent experience!
Pros: Would definitely fly Ait Tahiti Nu again.
Cons: No complaints.
Pros: Super Easy
Great Flight
Pros: Service was Great, Food was good.
Cons: Coke zero was not complimentary
Got home safe and sound!
Pros: comfortable seats and the flight attendants were friendly. Check in was smooth considering that there were 2 flights leaving within 20 minutes both bound for LA from Papeete.
Great flight from LAX to Tahiti
Pros: The attendants seem very happy to be where they were. Very friendly and helpful, everyone seemed in a great mood and happy to be with us. the only bad thing was they ran out of salmon before they got to us.
Cons: There were not gluten free options for my boyfriend who has a gluten allergy and we put in the gluten free option when asked on the initial questionnaire.
My son got food poisoning from the food.
Pros: Very solid experience and comfortable
Slept Most of the Way
Pros: I was able to pick a seat with no one next to me and gathered 2 blankets and 4 pillows and sleep pretty well.
I also appreciated boarding back to front and departing on time! Woo!
TV Screens were new and updated which was also nice.
Cons: The movie selection was a lot of sad and intense dramas. A few more comedy's and light hearted films would have been preferable.
Solid Mediocre
Pros: They board back to front which saves a lot of hassle with overhead bags and such and keeps things moving. I appreciated that all the flight attendants spoke French and English and were very helpful when I needed anything. My flights to and from Tahiti were both smooth sailing.
My flight back was a red eye and was quiet so I was able to sleep most of the way.
Cons: Whoa. That food was TERRIBLE. I'm usually lenient with free airplane food but wow, I don't even know what some of it was. I my second meal looked like fish and turned out to be pork (I think?). They also only came around with the beverage cart once in the 8 hour flight (just before our first meal); I had to ring my call button to get water.
The plane was pretty dated as well. I've seen worse but the screens were dated and all of the movies were fairly depressing. First, I'd suggest a couple more comedy's or rom-coms. Even a couple extra family friendly cartoons would be preferable to all the war/drama/dark options. Second, I'd suggest having the movies on demand rather than play one after another where passengers have to scroll through channels and keep catching movies part way through.
A simple solution would be to have WiFi and streaming on flights which was also not available. This should be expected with international flight and would allow for on demand movies and music rather than the dated system currently in place.
Uncomfortable
Pros: They provide blankets, eye patches for sleep, ear buds, and back pillows.
Cons: The head phones aux jack for my seat didn’t work and couldn’t hear the movie. The seats caused aches and no leg room. Lack of air flow. Food wasn’t good either meal I didn’t eat. Economy for 8.5 hours isn’t a nice trip
Cons: Staff was not attentive in my cabin. English translation of instructions difficult to understand. Food was terrible. Bread was hard.
Meal was inedible and not anything resembling breakfast. Cabin was freezing.
Great value and quality
Pros: They have definitely improved in the few years since I last flew with them. The food is still really good for airplane food. Also the service by flight attendants is friendly and attentive. The entertainment offered quite a few options as there were quite a number of movies if different genres and recent releases. I would definitely recommend them over some more expensive airlines.
Plane was 1hour late. They shuttled us to the plane.
Pros: Comfort
Cons: Location of terminal.
I got a good fare so won't say too much
Pros: Boarding process was great and ample overhead room for baggage.
Cons: The attendants were cold. The hot entrees were bad; the rest of the food tray was good. Half the bathrooms were inoperable due to mechanical issues.
Very friendly crew
Pros: The crew was super friendly and food was good. The leg space was decent also, always an important factor for tall people on long flights
Cons: The boardin required a long walk to a remote terminal and then quit a long drive to the plane
Comfort severely lacking
Pros: Entertainment options
Cons: Seats very thin with little to no cushioning. Seats way too close so that when a seat reclines in front, you wind up almost chewing on the seat in front. My seat was broken and did not recline. Should receive some compensation for this
Beastley hot in Papeete
Pros: Safe arrival
Cons: 40 minutes late boarding AFTER calling people to board; no apologies or explanations offered. Then a hot cabin, followed much later by lousy food. Most uncomfortable Airbus seats I've ever known. A few minutes of extreme turbulence was a bonus.
safe, timely & reliable
Pros: Easy boarding in Bora Bora, & speedy arrival in Moorea
Cons: High cost to make any changes to a reservation
Not bad, but not fabulous
Pros: Nice crew. I liked the packers of socks, earbids and mask.
Cons: The entertainment system was a little outdated. Movies should be on demand, and no tv was offered.
Great flight
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Business Class Lounge An Oasis at Faa’A
Pros: Faa’A International Airport is NOT air conditioned and there can be long lines in the check-in counter for economy class. If you are flying Business Class, the VIP Lounge is a must. It is the only air conditioned room at the airport.
Cons: Food was mediocre.
not good
Pros: seat in business class was fair to poor- unable to fully recline\
food was poor
Cons: seating and food
Pros: Comfortable airline, good food, friendly service. I would take it again.
Cons: I don't know if this is representative but we were late both ways (2 hrs and 1 hr).
Differently from other airline I've used to do this trip they don't go and offer water during the flight. You can go to get some drinks yourself of course but this is not always easy when your neighbor is sleeping.
Pros: The crew was pleasant enough.
Cons: We waited in a shuttle for 30 minutes to be transported to the plane. We then had a three hour delay on the tarmac. Were not once offered water or refreshments during the 3-hour delay, and were only given two brief updates. During the 8 hour flight, refreshments were offered only twice. The food was ok - not terrible, not great. By the time they got to us (row 27), they didn’t have both meal options available. We took what we could get. And, all this after paying $1500 per person for our economy seats. I can fly LAX to Bali for 1/3 the price.
Cons: Three and a half hour delay (while lying to us about why it was delayed) missed my connecting and got to sleep in an airport with no accommodation or recompense on either end.
"Island Time" not acceptable for air travel.
Pros: great options for entertainment.
Cons: The plane food was horrible.
Pros: great entertainment options
Cons: horrid food
Need movies upgrade. ...all old
Pros: Old movies little choice
Sat me 4 rows away on what was meant to be a special trip.
Cons: For the crazy price and booking the tickets together, I have never not sat next to the person you booked with. The airline sat us in middle seats 4 rows away from each other (there was no reason for it since we both had single people on the aisles next to us). Really ruined the trip and made nothing about the flight worth commenting on. I won't ever fly this airline again.
Eight hours
Pros: Seats were comfortable for an eight hour flight. We slept most of it attendants were
courteous and professional
Cons: I didn’t like the orange marmalade breakfast. We don’t eat pork ham was on the omelet
Basic service on a decent airline
Pros: Coach is about par with other airlines of the same class. Food is acceptable. Service is efficient and the crew is pleasant. Decent legroom for me (5’5” tall). I was able to get 5-6 hours sleep on the overnight flight to LAX.
Cons: Having to go outside and climb stairs to board. Food could have been better.
Helpful Crew
Pros: I got I'll on the flight and the crew was very helpful.
Cons: I really don't know as besides being sick I tried to get as much sleep as I could.
Air Tahiti Nui flight to LAX
Pros: N/C for food, head sets and in flight movies. Crew was very professional and pilot was excellent. I liked that they boarded the plane back to front. Makes more sense. Service was excellent!
Cons: Hard to board when everyone lines up and doesn't get out of the way for those to board whose seat numbers were called. The attendant started calling the next numbers before the first group had a chance to get through all the people waiting! You couldn't push thru the crowd because others in front of you were in the same predicament. People were asked to stay in their seats until their numbers were called but they didn't listen. We were an hour late taking off. Food was not very good and I'm not a picky eater. Rolls were hard as a rock and The eggs were uneatable. The lady in front of me reclined her seat all the way back and slept the whole flight so I was uncomfortable the whole way home and couldn't sleep. Her seat was resting on my knees. Very hard to eat off a tilted tray table. Seats very close together so hard to get to the remote.
Pros: Being a redeye flight, they kept the plane dark for about 4 hours & didn't disturb us. The crew was friendly & professional.
Cons: The terminal is not air-conditioned, just ceiling fans, so waiting to board was uncomfortable. We had no ability to select our seats so we had to take what they gave us.
Hospitable
Pros: Frendly crew, drinks unlimited, and lovely time overall
Cons: Nothing
Tahiti nui
Pros: Free movies rocks. Hawaiian air charges for them. Very good food
Cons: The flight was delayed, the food wasn't good at all, because I was traveling with a cast on my left foot I asked for a front seat a week before my flight and when I asked at the counter at the airport they say that they wouldn't be able to give me a front seat, the lady at the counter wasn't nice at all, she didn't help and it felt that she wasn't trying to help me or to manege any other solution.
Pros: Very kind and helping crew ! Love they positive attitude and energy
Cons: Food need to be improve - especially for people who don't like or eat meat
Pros: I liked getting a pillow and blanket. Movie selection was good but could be a little better.
Cons: The food selection was "meh." I am a vegetarian and I wish I was told during booking to request a veggie meal. I would have given an "excellent" score with vegetarian options readily available and better movies.
Cons: Better food selection, especially for vegetarians. Also, get gingerale!
Not what I expected
Pros: Not much
Cons: Staff was VERY rude, seats are uncomfortable. Inside the plane is FREEZING cold. Food was ok-
Pros: Great service, from booking seat assignment to meals, the staff could not have been better,
Crammed in the back
Pros: Plentiful blankets, pillow, headphones and earplugs. Food and drink readily available.
Cons: Seats are too small/narrow with little leg room for a 6' person. I was seated in 45A, the last row against the window. The seat backs do not recline yet, the seats in front of us so so, we end up with the guy ahead of my in my lap with zero leg room as my knees were pressed down by the reclined passenger in front of me. Very uncomfortable to not be able to move for 8 hours!!!!
Pleasant staff. Nice to have some food on this very long flight.
Pros: I liked the staff.
Cons: Leg room was dismal. Food was not great.
Based in Papeete, Air Tahiti Nui serves as a major link between French Polynesia and the rest of the world. Due to its isolated location in the South Pacific Ocean, all flights operated are long-haul routes to major destinations. Connections are possible to North America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.
Predominantly owned by the Government of French Polynesia, Air Tahiti Nui is responsible for a large sector of the islands’ tourism. Direct services to densely populated locations in the United States, Japan, and France have boosted the accessibility and economy of the Polynesia region. Codeshare agreements are held with several carriers, including Air France, Air New Zealand, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Korean Air, and American Airlines. These partnerships provide customers the ability to purchase connected flights to a wider network.
Exclusively Boeing aircraft are flown. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is favored for its fuel efficiency and long-distance range. The jets can carry approximately 294 passengers. All aircraft in the fleet are named after islands in French Polynesia, such as Bora Bora and Fakarava. The names can be spotted alongside the cockpit window along with the French Polynesian flag. Emblazoned on the tail of the aircraft is the Tahitian gardenia flower.
There are three cabin classes to choose from when flying with Air Tahiti Nui: Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class. Seats in Economy have 31 in of legroom, which is increased to 36 in for Premium Economy. Seats can also be semi-reclined in Premium Economy. The Business Class cabin is decorated in a tropical color scheme and has flatbeds with a large, soft cushion.
