The staff and service of SIngapore Airlines is hard to beat. They are excellent. If they could only figure out their call center fiasco it would be a top airline. Attempting to call SQ is like trying to talk to the dead.

We did not receive any compensation, but Singapore/Silk Airlines told us they were able to get us a flight home to LAX instead, but that it wouldn't be until the next day. We spent money on a hotel and food and waited until the next morning, got to the airport early for check in only to find that Singapore/Silk had in fact, given up our seats that they had promised us. They said that we now would have to wait another day just to get a flight from Singapore to LAX. We asked to speak with a manager, and eventually were able to get two seats due to cancellations. This was intended to be a very special and romantic trip that was essentially ruined. Since no one could have anticipated that the volcano would cause cancellation, we should be refunded for our flights. We are so crushed that we did not get to go to Bali, and now we may NEVER get to go because we are out of money. At the VERY least, the leg of our flights from Singapore to Bali, and Bali to Singapore, should be refunded. We are extremely disappointed."

Wonderful flight staff! Awesome service and the food was definitely business class quality! However the angle lie flat seats are way beneath what everyone expects on 15 hour flights, the blanket was adequate but looks old, not fresh. No ear plugs in the amenity kit…glad i had my own.
Unfortunately when I went to check-in they couldn't find me in the system and I wasn't showing a reservation. The Airline crew was great and allowed me to board but I had to wait 30 minutes for them to get approval even though I had my electronic ticket and I had paid for the flight

The very least should be to supply more seating & a facility where passengers can order coffee/tea & snacks. Also there was only 1 ladies toilet, so always occupied. The lounge Definately needs an urgent upgrade in facilities then I would consider flying Phillipine Aiines again."

Ground handling team proactive in handling passengers with need of assistance. Coordinated well with aircraft team ahead of main boarding party. Seated at 7F and saw the care and attention paid by luggage loading team - even attending to a piece of luggage that appeared damaged before loading it onboard. Crew are naturally kind and personable - and flight deck announcements professionally made with clarity. Flight handling smooth, perfect touchdown in SIN.

We were given boarding passes and told to try our luck taking the luggage through security and try gate baggage check. We made the plane 20 minutes before scheduled departure"

Fortunately, he was able to hold the plane and I made it. My baggage didn't though - and was only delivered to the hotel at midnight after a convoluted process claiming it at Tan Son Nhat Airport. Not really good enough given we paid extra in order to be able to travel together. Pick up your game MAS - 2 planes out of the sky and you won't regain customers like this!"

I checked in with plenty of time and when I arrived in Singapore I was advised that not only could they not call to Panang to inquire about my bag -it had to be arranged through email but also bags aren’t destination scanned! I work for United airlines and it seems primitive not to know where a bag is in today’s day and age. The following day, knowing that I was departing back to the United States miraculously my bag showed up at the airport the same time as my minimum required check in time."

The airline makes you pay for water, which is simply inhuman - at least cattle in transport are given free water from time to time. It was a five-hour flight at night but we couldn't put the seats back to relax - the exit row was behind us and they've got the seats crammed in so tight together that they don't give the exit row any extra room to accommodate this, like most airlines. There are ads plastered all over the storage compartments. Recorded announcements threatened us with dire consequences if we stole the life vests (is that a thing people do?!). Everything looks cruddy, dingy and old. It feels like a cheap city bus, but in the air. At the end of the flight the crew walked through fumigating the cabin with spray cans of who-the-hell-knows-what and we had to breathe THAT in. We won't even consider Air Asia again unless there are literally no other possible choices. Just awful."

Cons: "The leg room is deplorable. My knees were continuously hitting the hard seat in front of me and going sideways wasn't even an option. I've never had this happen to me before. I'm a female and 5'9 and this is the least space I've ever had on a flight. So uncomfortable I can't imagine a long flight with this airline, which is good to know because now I will not use them for flying to Malaysia from NYC. Also both flights were delayed by nearly an hour each."

Yes, water. -constant (and unnecessary) updates on PA system -often attempted to sell AirAsia branded paraphernalia during flight while everyone was trying to sleep -sprayed an unknown substance into the cabin to "sanitize" just before we landed (insecticide?!). We were given a warning literally 10 seconds before they sprayed it."

Cons: "No organization whatsoever in boarding procedures. No announcement made on the flight being delayed, only a message passed down from passengers at the very front. Plane was not cleaned and emptied of rubbish before we were boarded. Most shocking of all, the plane was being refueled while passengers were boarding. All in all, pretty appalling. I take budget flights 2-3 times a year and this is the worst experience I've had with budget carriers (including the European budget carriers with dirt cheap fares and sometimes non-existence customer service)."

Cons: "I was not allowed on board due to absence of a transit visa for HongKong (I had few hours transit there before my next flight back to EU). I am allowed to stay up to 48h in HK airport for transit without any visa, I had to quickly find and purchase the flight ticket to HK with another airlines, with them it was no problem to fly to HK for transit. All other few flights with AirAsia were bad as well. We were refused to get water as a complimentary during a log flight from HK to Manila. Every flight was always delayed up to ~1 h."
