Every single member of staff was very friendly and very helpful. The hotel was in a perfect location, between all the main sights to see. The foyer was a little plain and not very welcoming.
Everything was excellent. Staff are very helpful & facilities great. The location is superb, close to Louvre, Pont Neuf and Metro but very quiet in rooms.
Perfect location for side seeing and museums, especially Louvre as well as for shopping There is no real lobby and reception desk - instead rather ridiculous two stands for staff
Location Room service was rude, the bathroom smelled really bad and it stunk up the bedroom. breakfast was not good nor tasty. The bed was not king or queen size, it was two single beds put togather, very uncomfortable
Very clean dust free environment due to no rugs on the floor. Excellent staff service. Small hotel, with very personal service. Very quiet room. Excellent location. At 400 a night, it seemed pricey but I don't visit Paris enough to know the going rates. I walked into another 4 star and asked about rates and they were 25 to 30 % cheaper. The quality of the service at L'Empire is so good though that it was worth the extra money. Also, their web site on Hotels.com listed shuttle service which they didn't have, although to their credit, they found me a shuttle service, although in the end I chose to take a car to the airport.
The room we had on our second night was very nice. It was as we had booked - a Classic room. I don't understand. If you don't want us to write about a bad experience - which we had - why ask?
The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were exceptional. They did everything within their power to make your stay more enjoyable and to assist you in any matter.
The staff were very nice and helpful and spoke good english. The breakfasts were very good, we also liked the nice linen used and the comfortable bed. The hotel reception area is not very welcoming. There is only an old couch and 2 very small reception desks with poor quality music playing. My first impression of the hotel was not good, they could have made the reception area much more inviting - get rid of the couch!! We also didnt like the shower as it was hand held! - makes it hard to wash your hair, thats if there is any hot water as on 2 occasions in the morning there was no hot water, especially annoying on the morning of departure before a 24 hour flight home!
Design and Decoration Broken Lift more than 1 Day (If Compare with this Level)
Design and location food
Hotels name is not visible from the street
Extreme helpfulness of most staff. Reference to 'Hot breakfast' Abscence of coffee/tea facilities in room (Neither of these important).
the location was good to get to marais and to st germain as well as of course the louvre so easy. room was quiet, clean large enough in paris terms. so was happy and will stay again. that breakfast is extra. but that is typical of france. also dont like that you have to take your bags by yourself. im too old for that nonsense.
Compact hotel with attentive staff. Space at a premium but efficiently designed with modern baths.
Excellent Rooms, excellent location
fantastic location and friendliness of desk staff the mini elevator, but I think this is common thoughout hotels in France
Location Breakfasts is very poor. Staff in bufett one of the shifts is rude staff
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They also spoke excellent English. Brilliant location for the Louvre.
Small, clean, kind service, central Better acces to internet and printeracess
I had a great stay. Staff was very polite and helpful. Location was perfect, breakfast was delicious. Will come back again
The location was awesome! The noise and lack of an outlet in the bathroom, The room was also dated and could see years of wear and tear.
location of hotel was amazing, staff was great, concierge was great. everything was fine
great hotel no complaints
The position Frankly more or less everything! In serious need of modernisation!! Air cond not functioning in a great number of rooms, carpets hardly clean in common areas, state of the building itself, in the garden show the lack of maintenance. An overpriced, and way overrated hotel.
Very comfortable, affordable Hotel with the luxury of the Spa. After long days of walking it was great to relax in the pool and spa! The room was very big as is the American way! Location was perfect.
Great location, excellent base for touring and exploring from. Park right across the street and metro station at front door. Staff very friendly - concierge service was excellent helping with decisions and arrangements. Enjoyed the bar in the evenings. Would likely stay there on any return trip.
Concierge was extremely helpful with planning day trips and use of metro. We travelled with subway and bus without any trouble as they give you maps and great instructions. Rooms were clean and had fresh crisp white linens. Housecoat and slippers to use spa. Courtyard lovely to sit in while waiting for wife to get ready. We had a two level suite on mainfloor over looking a very French courtyard/garden.
My boyfriend and I stayed here on our first trip to Paris. The location is amazing - a metro stop across the street, as well as the Louvre and Tuilleries gardens. The bed was large and comfortable, and our room was cleaned no matter how late in the day. The restaurant had a beautiful courtyard and good food (breakfast is not included). The room was a little dark, but the common areas of the hotel felt luxurious. Couldn't have asked for a better location, especially at the price we got. The room was a little dark - could have used more lamps and another mirror. A few nights there was noise from people either closing doors or shutters in the hotel. For some reason the front desk took about an hour to deliver us our bags despite multiple calls, but that was the only time we had an issue with service.
Location ... Location ... Location The courtyards are just gorgeous and what better place to enjoy breakfast or coffee or a drink. We loved our room, # 210. it had a loft with a bed. and a view of the courtyard. Breakfast was not included. I think the room price should include it !
Quiet and cozy room. Spacious and clean. Staff was very helpful at check in and the few times I requested suggestions for dining.
Overall was a great place but its ally was given a room that was approximently 250 sq feet. Enough place for one but NOT two. To change rooms it cost an extra $50.00/ day. And while we were there the room was rented out again with the same result occurring to another couple. So while it made have great qualities the hotel still scams the customer.
The best about hte hotel is its location - just next to the Louvre, between two squares, walking distance to everything I wanted to visit (never took a taxi or any other kind of transport). The receptionists were English-speaking and nice and helpful. The room was spacey (stayed in a junior suit), as well as the bathroom, cosy and clean. In fact, everything in the room, as well as the service, could be compared to a 5* hotel (including the cosmetics in the bathroom). Plus, the free WiFi is a nice addition to all. The hall and the corridors need renewing - the first impression of the hotel lowers ones expectations because of the old and a bit dirty common spaces in the hotel. Another thing, is that the air-conditioning was poorly working and it was a bit hot, but I just turned it off and opened the windows from time to time. Also, unpleasant surprice was the thinnes of the walls - I could hear every slam of a door and footsteps, however, no one really made noise, so I slept like a baby. One more thing about noise is that the windows of my room overlooked an inner yard and when opening the window there was a bussying sound from the air-conditioning or other machines. Overall, these were quite minor problems and didn't spoil my stay in the least!
Great traditional typical parisian 4* hotel. Excellent location. Wanted 100 euros to stay until 1:00pm for check-out. Offered me 12 noon free.
O.K., I know its owned by Hyatt but It still felt boutiquey and small with a personal touch (as if not owned by Hyatt). The staff focused on attentive service, from the front desk, to room service, etc. Its clearly part of the staff culture. There is an intimate feel as if they all know each other--and everything about you. When I spoke to one front desk person they know a discussion I had with another the day before. The Concierge was amazing and made recommendations and the actual reservations and when things were not available made good judgments on his own for changes. We felt like they know us and were watching out for us. It is not that big really which helps in this case. The rooms felt well maintained with a terrific balance of old world and new. Highly Recommended!!!!
Concierge services are exceptional - special thanks to Eric, Remy, Magaly.
The worst hotel Old smelly rooms , bad carpet dirty, wood very bad
Location, nice atmosphere On the expensive side
The quality of the rooms, decoration, and space are far far less than shown in the pictures and indicated in the hotel desciption.
Great location ......just a short walk from some fantastic places of great interest. Buzzing cafe night life right on the doorstep too....good atmosphere in the hotel... It seemed expensive and the quality failed to match the expense....certainly for a pound based UK visitor. There was a shortage of helpful welcoming staff....particularly at reception where you face an unacceptable wait. Irritating.
Excellent location, helpful staff, clean rooms, large and light bathrooms, really french atmosphere, close to most of the sightseeings and fashion boutiques. The decoration of rooms is a bit tired, but this is a problem of the most of the hotels in the centre of Paris.
Location and comfort.
The welcoming and very helpful staff, cleanliness of rooms, and above all, the excellent location. The room service was poor. We had a baby and we used to order warm milk twice a day. They gave us hot milk one day, watered down the other, cold another, and so on, even though every day we asked for a glass of warm milk. I guess it all depends on who is on the shift.
it was next to the metro station
The place was very clean and cosy, we have really been surprised by the quality of the service. Location is perferct for a city trip
We stayed in a room on the 6th floor which was (by Paris standards) rather big. The bed (double) could have been bigger. Location of the hotel is really superbe as it is situated within walking distance of Le Louvre and Place de la Concorde. Underground parking nearby (Parking "Les Pyramides"). Very friendly staff !
Great location, clean rooms , very polite staff. The room and the furniture could use a bit of renovation
The location was great--right near the Jardin de Tuilerie and with easy access to a boulangerie, a coffee shop, a grocery store, the metro, and parking. Did not particularly like dealing with one of the three desk clerks encountered.
The hotel is conveniently located near the Louvre with ready acccess to tour excursion buses and within walking distance of key toursit sites.
Location was superb. Room was large by Paris standards. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was a little boring and quite expensive.
Location and friendly staff
The location is fabulous right next to the Louvre, Eiffel tower, and the latin quarter as well as plenty of high end shopping areas. the lift is a bit small and breakfast was a little pricey but with so many cafes and restaurants around that was not really an issue
The location was excellent and the room was very nice. We liked the balcony and laarge bathroom. Staff was quite helpful. breakfast not very good for the cost.
hotel location, staff behaviour
Staff were helpful and efficient. Hotel was ideally located for sightseeing. The end of the bed was a bit too close to the window and passage was difficult:
Friendly staff and excellent location Though the room was at the back, we could hear the air conditionning system just under our window and our neighbours a bit too much.
Location is v. good
The hotel was very well located, basic but clean and it had a nice breakfast. It had absolutely no charm but for a busy tourist eager to see as many sites as possible, it served its purpose very well. Just need to be aware that it is a place to lay your head, not an experience. The hotel lacked any charm at all...it was truly just a place to sleep. The walls seemed very thin and we could hear our neighbours. There was also construction right outside the window and we were not informed of this in advance or even at the time of arrival.
location room is too smaill
Cannot beat the location. 1/2 block from the Louvre, metro, shops, restaurants. Excellent rate for location. Balcony in the room.
The staff were very helpful and friendly; breakfast was excellent. The location is just brilliant right in the centre of Paris and near to all the sites. The rooms are very small but they are comfortable.
Rooms are clean and wonderfully decorated in muted colors and real paintings. The layout is very thoughtful so that rooms (smallish given this is Paris) do not feel cramped. Spending extra to book a delux room is probably worth the cost. We stayed at the courtyard and the street side rooms on different nights and both were very quiet. The location of the hotel was perfect for sightseeing and shopping. We also found the front desk and concierge staff to be very professional and friendly. Breakfast selections are limited but more than adequate. You should be aware that this is a boutique hotel and does not have a big lobby space or a restaurant for dinner, but perhaps because of it, the stay feels like you are staying at a very wealthy friend's house. A very special boutique hotel in Paris. We will definitely stay here again in our next visit to Paris. There is nothing that we didn't like.
his location the facilities are old TV, bathroom, No aircondition...
From your welcome, to daily needs, all the way to check out, the staff were outstanding. The concierge made great recommendations, the doormen polite and efficient, and the housekeeping staff attentive. The rooms were well appointed and the bed (and high count linens) were very comfortable. The location was a huge plus: one block from my business meetings and two blocks from the Louvre. The rooms were on the smaller side but certainly not squished like some French hotels.
Great atmosphere, helpful staff.
location & style
The staff was most courteous and helpful. The hotel was very convenient to the heart of Paris and many of its attractions. I recommend that reservations be re-confirmed prior to travelling to avoid any confusion.
We loved the central location, across from the Louvre and the Gardens of Toulerie as well as the view of the Eiffel Tower. Sightseeing, shopping and all types of dining were within walking distance. There was nothing unpleasant about this hotel.
Location, style, very friendly and professional staff at front desk and concierge Room not very spacious, no gym/spa
The best location in Paris
Excellent location Small rooms
The location is excellent and Room 100 was a really good size and well appointed. We made a booking for a non-smoking room and were given a room which smelt really badly of smoke and had an ashtray and burn marks on the furniture. The front desk staff finally agreed to move us (on first trying to tell them, they said it wasn't their fault and there was nothing they could do), but we had to move rooms twice during our stay. For the price of the hotel, service and rooms were poor.
Location is so convenient to visit various museums, especially a few minutes walk to Louvre. At night, it was very silent we could sleep very well. Hotel staffs were kind. If we will visit Paris again, we would like to stay at this hotel.
There is not much that I liked during my stay at the hotel besides the convienent location. It was around the corner from the Louvre. The bathroom floor was disgusting. The shower and sink were clean but the toilet & floor had an extreme amount of hair on them. The hotel staff wasnt as friendly as reported on this website and the rooms were very small-which I could get over but not the disgusting floor. The fact that I had to walk around in shower shoes is pretty bad. Since the bathroom floor was one of the first things I saw I think it ruined my view of the hotel. I started to notice the little things after that. I would not stay there again and think it was way over priced for its amenities.
Excellent central location with easy access to main Paris attractions; helpful and friendly staff; good choice of local bars and restaurants.
friendly staff, interior design beds are awful, there is a plastic cover between matrace and blanket which is maybe good for keeping the matrace clean but doesn't really add to comfort
location small rooms, no view outside
The location (right in the center of town, close to the Seine). Everything you need is present and relatively clean. There was a complimentary bottle of wine in the room. Staff is friendly and helpfull. This was the smallest hotel room I ever saw. They crammed as many rooms in the hotel as is possible. The corridors are claustrophobic and the ceiling is incredibly low: just 5cm above the top of the door. Standing up in the bath to take a shower there was just two fingers width between the top of my head and the ceiling (I am 1m82). Everything is as small as it can possibly be, leaving the impression that you're in room for midgets instead of humans. The bed was not long enough - my feet were sticking out from above the ankles - not wide enough, and very stiff (worst night ever). The only thing that makes this a "charming" hotel (as the ad says) are the woodcarvings on the bedtables. 2/3 of the price is for the location of the hotel.
Location is great and the staff is helpful. Hallways and rooms are very small
Excellent location; good view from the window; friendly staff of the hotel Too small rooms in the hotel; poor facilities, e.g. there is no wardrobe in the room.
Location is very central and allows quick straightforward access to all the main central sites I would have wished to be forwarned aboutv major refurbishment work which created a very noisy environment in the day.I had a workman welding copper pipes immediatly outside my room door and I had to wait for him to finish before gaining access. Also my room was not ready even though I arrived after 1 pm the official check in time
Florence, lovely clean rooms, great location
Perfect location. Excellent for tourists. poor rooms, but hotel makes renovation work (elevator, air conditioning, handicapped room, new reception, decoration)
Hotel has excellent location, nice area, next to Musee du Louvre. Room is comfortable, clean. Shower is very narrow. Bathroom is not perfectly clean. Breakfast is not included.
good location, the room is clear and comfortable.
Excellant central location. Hotel is currently undergoing renovations.
Great location. Breakfast in the room without extra price. Very clean. Internet point. Free wi fi in the room. The girl at the front desk during the day shift, seemed happy to create difficulties where there weren't. We arrived at the hotel at 10.00 AM and she said: "the check in is at 13.00. You should know that, not before". We said ok and if we could leave the luggage. Then she said: "But the room is ready so you can get it now". When I ordered the breakfast in the room (possibility confirmed by the very kind night manager) she said that it was not possible. And then: "Ok what would you like to have for breakfast?". Girl very difficult to understand...
The location of the hotel, reasonably quiet and comfortable. Reliability of wifi With a five night stay, I expected to have the sheets changed and toiletries replaced. The room was more lke a bowling alley 8.5ft wide by 25ft long
The location was great, 1 block from the Louvre,Tuileries. We could walk everywhere or the metro was 5min walk away. Hotel was good, no lift though, rooms spacious enough. Excellent value for location. Breakfast was good. Staff extremely helpful and welcoming. We would stay here again.
We liked the location (very close to metro/RER station which took us directly to Disneyworld, walking distance to Louvre); the staff which immediately offered us the map of Paris and explained the whereabouts of anything we wanted to find; the cleanliness of rooms and bathrooms. One out of three days, the service in a cafe at breakfast was slow.
The staff were so helpful The hotel was closing down as from this week for total refurbishment but looking forward to going back when it repoens
Everything! The location of this hotel was fantastic and I have absolutely nothing bad to say. It is very close to public transit and not a far walk from many of the top Paris attractions. The room was so unique and next time I'm in Paris, I will definitely stay here again. Everything was great in my opinion.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the hotel had charm and character and we enjoyed our stay very much. No parking available and the carpark was a few long blocks away, which made getting our luggage to the hotel a bit tedious.
The location was perfect and staff was very polite and helpful. It was good that hotel is located on small street, so it is quite even if you open the window. Breakfast was standard continental, but was enough. I would stay here again for sure!
The hotel is perfectly located. It's very close to les Halles or Chatelet metro station and everything else of interest to tourists. The staff are very polite, the rooms are clean and comfortable. Everything was excellent and as expected.
Adequate but expensive for a small no air con room lack of air con.
Location only, the hotel didn't meet the 4-star rating... The price paid for the hotel didn't meet the 4-star rating... I've stayed in many 4-star hotel in Paris and that one didn't meet the standards. Everything was at the minimal (I've stayed in room 102), see not maintained.
The Normandy has an unbeatable location on the doorstep of the Louvre.. We were very pleased with our room it was clean comfortable and spacious.. We lucked in with an Air con room on a 6 night stay with 36 degrees most of that week..If you like a Parisien type experience in a character hotel in a great location this is for you.
Very spacious & well maintained room, close to the heart of the tourist attractions, and very friendly staff.
The hotel was central to all the main attractions. The concierge was very helpful in getting tickets for the Moulin Rouge. Hotel lounge bar was a little bit expensive.
Beds were of a good size & comfortable other than that the hotel was somewhat of a dissapointment Rooms and hallways badly in need or redecoration, bathroom smelt, staff poor
Good location, warm reception Leaking WC Run down bathroom (tiles suck to the wall with brown tape) No separate WC separated with plastic curtain Dirty, greasy walls, No double bed, but two singles stuck together ( NOT comfortable) Broken furniture (legs of the seats in the first room were loose, dangerous) Too hot. Central heating could not be turned off. This was not a **** star hotelroom, not by any standard .
Good location, near to Louvre museum and the metro. Big rooms. Very old, needs an urgent refurbish. Poor service. Bad and displicent staff. Terrible breakfast (it`s better eat breakfast outside). Too much money for a 2 star or less service. After several complaints, we ourselves fixed the air conditioned (floor model, very old) with a tape, because nobody at the hotel took care about it. Bad experience. Don`t pay to see...
Location is perfect for sightseeing in Paris. The rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade.
Proximity to tourist spots; very efficient and pleasant cleaning staff and maintenance men My friend and my daughter both complained that the two concierges they dealt with when we were there for 4 days and 3 nights were neither helpful nor pleasant.
Excellent location. Nice breakfast. The reception personnel in the evening and night time was unfriendly.
The location is convenient. the metro station is juat about 5 min. walk. and the wifi signal is good. the room is kind of small and the facility seems old. The light in the washroom will be off if automatically if it's turned on for sometime. The lock of the room door cannot function well. The ketle in our room was too dirty to use.
The location is good. The space of the bathroom is too small.
The staff were excellent as was the location. An extra 10€ is a lot for breakfast. We opted to get our own.
Good location, friendly staff, free lockup if you plan on staying later in the day of your departure.
for Paris it was a decent size and comfortable the bed was hard but not any different from the other european hotels I stayed at
Great position, very good to have a lift for luggage and the staff were very friendly and helpful It was great until the last day when some people left early around 5 am and the walls were a little thin which made the sound travel and was a bit disturbing
The location Dirty room, dirty towels noise from the plumbing
Free wireless was good, staff was helpful. Excellent location. Note that all twin rooms arre facing the street so it was a bit noisy. Pillows were small and uncomfortable, no hairdrier in the bathroom but for a 2 star hotel it is rather good...
Fairly handy to Louvre, etc. Clean, quiet, nice breakfast, helpful staff. Would be nice to have shower curtain in bathroom.
Helpful staff who were patient with my basic french language skills! Nothing flash about the room but clean and comfortable. Very close to the Louvre and other places Very small ensuite - especially the shower box. A large person would have had problems.
Exellent location and very convenient to shopping ,eating and going to any hot spots in Paris. The room is very clean and kitchen is convenient . The staff are kind and friendly and can speak English very well.
We liked the fact that the hotel was in the very center of the city and all the famous sightseeing objects were easy to reach. No, everything was good.
Great location. Staff was very helpful. Room was spacious.
Perfect location, very helpful and friendly receptionists, quite a large room, comfortable to stay with a small kid I would expect more frequent room cleaning and change of towels
Great location. Apartment - Space for a group of 3-4 people. Free internet and TV lounge.
Location Pretty pricy to get two single beds pushed together and called a king size
Nothing Everything. It is a royal rip off. They charge 5 Star prices for a 2 Star property, which is totally incomplete. No armchair in room, air conditioning which was off and the hotel is on a very noisy street, no tall glasses, just tiny wine glasses.A tiny old fashioned TV set
I researched the place on Tripadvisor and read praise for room 306 so I requested it and got it: wonderful! and more than I expected:a spacious sunny apartment with lots of typical Parisian windows onto a fountain and square. Staff were always professional and helpful, their indications for fast orientation on the Metro were invaluable. Not really dislikes but suggestions:While facilities were fine in the small but spotless kitchen, a few basics, like a salt and pepper pot (preferably full) and even a little sugar or cream would not cost the hotel much and make arrivals easier for their guests; also in the bathroom a mug for toothbrushes would have been useful.
The room was beautifully decorated, spacious and elegant. A very comfortable bed. Great location.
LOCALIZATION - CENTRE OF PARIS, COUPLE METERS FROM LOUWR, APARTAMENT WITH FULLY EQUIPED KITCHEN, TWO ROOMS, SEPARATE WC AND BATHROOM OLD FASHIONED, "LOW" THREE STARS, NOBODY CLEAN ROOMS, TOWELS NOT CHANGED FOR FOUR DAYS, TOO EXPENSIVE
The location was perfect for discovering Paris. The apartment was equipped well for the stay. Air conditioning was a welcome relief.
