We liked the friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I would definitely come back and stay with my family .
Location, & staff. Carpet in my room smelled.
Beds are comfortable and is in a good location. Under renovation, the AC wasn't working so we had to sleep with the door open, which is loud outside
- Quiet location - Deep tub - Free wi-fi
- Very pleasant check-in experience - Attractive lobby - Attractive rooms - Nice area of town - Decent rates - Exercise room is about what you'd expect from a hotel - Free WiFi is slow, urges you to "upgrade" for a fee
Atmosphere, Location. A/C is perfectly setup. Great Shower/Bathroom combo Room next to the ice machine and elevators was rather loud. Pillows felt used and hard. Bed was not comfortable.
The Japanese decor is calming. Nice neighborhood, walking distance to nice restaurants. Room is oddly designed. TV not easily viewed from bed. And the bathroom is not typical -- I think it has a Japanese influence so perhaps it is a comforting design for those familiar with Japan, but for others it seems strange. A deep thin tub with shower, no shower curtain, then the sink in a middle area that has wall to wall carpeting, and then the toilet in another room that you have to step up and over to enter.
The staff were the most friendly and helpful of most of the hotels I've expetienced. We stayed there due to a close relative being in Cal Pacific Medical Center unexpectedaly from out of the area. They were so accommodating and extended our stay when complications arised. The restaurant was great and we loved Bill the bartender. We never felt like we were not welcome. The shuttle to the hospital was invaluable and saved us money in extra parking fees. I would not hesitate to stay here again under similar circumstances. We also enjoyed the restaurants in Japan town. They were wonderful. The only thing we didn't like was the road noise in the room. Our home is in an area that u Is extremely quiet so we are not used to city noises. Mew have traveled extensively and stayed in noisy cities where hotels are much quieter. I must say we are more sensitive to noise so take that into account. We would stay there again if we needed too.
bar and restaurant were closed rooms were nice
The staff was very helpful and courteous. The downstairs common areas were very spacious and comfortable. The complimentary Internet service did not quite reach my room - the signal was weak and therefore I was unable to conduct any electronic business.
The room was large as was the bed. The sheets and pillows were fabulous. The decor is totally themed Victorian but with modern bathrooms and TV. I moved to a back room which was very quiet. Staff was helpful. Breakfast included was fine - even had a fresh waffle-making machine. Originally I was in a room on the 2nd floor facing Sutter Street which was noisy so I switched to a back room that was quiet.
The place really has a charm, and the moment you walk through the door you feel like there is nothing the staff won't do for you - and do it with a smile. It is very cosy and welcoming. The afternoon tea/coffee/sherry and cookies is a lovely touch too. Also, the cinnamon scent throughout constantly made us stop and sniff appreciatively. There weren't a lot of restaurants nearby - but then again, the ones that were close were lovely (especially the Persian).
Very accommodating staff. Pretty central location with decent breakfast options. Afternoon sherry, tea and cookies enjoyable. No fan in room so needed to open windows for air movement and then had some traffic noise. Better bedside lighting for reading. Maid service was just ok but not through.
I loved the location, and overall appearance of this hotel. The staff was awesome. I enjoyed the tea, and coffee, and continental breakfast. The beds had plastic liners which were noisy when rolling over or changing positions.
The staff was very helpful
the location, the staff, the decor, other guests The darkness of the room facing a wall across a narrow space
coziness in the hotel, fireplace on, 4 pm sherry time
The rooms were clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Nice morning breakfast to start the day. Love the cozy and warm ambience. Hope to stay again on a future trip.
Queen Anne is a beautiful place to stay in San Francisco. The staff and service were great. The location is the best I was able to walk and enjoy the many scenes of San Francisco. I love the history of Queen Anne and love that they have the history printed out for you to look at. I also love their tea, sherry and treats that they give out at 4pm every day. It was great to wake up and enjoy breakfast in this wonderful establishment. I hope to visit again soon. Wish they had bacon for breakfast. The smell of bacon gets me up in the morning.
Courtious staff, reasonable price and good location
My wife & myself stayed at Queen Anne for 5 nights during our trip. We are so pleased with the service. Although it is like an old historic house, everything is tidy & clean. Giving us a feeling of warmth & like home. Furniture & things are all like antique. Roberto and Rita, the concierge was superb giving us very very good recommendation & always helpful tips. People there were very nice & friendly, the kind that we couldn't get from those chain hotels. Will certainly stay there again next time we visit San Francisco. Cheers, you guys at Queen Anne are great.
The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful! Always trying to be helpful! The decor was very unique and enchanting. The beds were very comfortable.
Very nice and modern rooms with Manga on the walls - perfect!
Fun design, good food at Mum's restaurant All was good.
Funky hotel with bed rooms & great beds! The neigbourhood was v. interesting - lots of shops & services nearby but no tourists
Very friendly and helpful staff.
we loved the bartender - she was awesome - we talked about saki and where she was from, what her parents drank...she was terrific!!!
Big double beds, the design of the bedroom, location of the hotel in Japantown (calm area of the city), bus stop opposite the hotel, good connections to downtown. Nothing in particular
Very well located...professional staff, very clean and friendly hotel. Japantown is the best and safest way to discover San Francisco. Free Wifi and lcd Tv: Simply perfect Rates are excluding taxes and city tax, so please pay attention to final total
This was the first time that we stayed in a hotel in such close proximity to Japantown and we were not disappointed. The feel of the hotel was that of a boutique-style hotel where the staff was very attentive to our needs. The decor of the rooms were nothing that we have seen before and was such a pleasant surprise. We would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers to the San Francisco area.
Funky modern design, good location for Japantown. Nice view Check in was slow and room is pretty spartan, if "funked up" with Japanese kitsch. Although we ordered a King we got two small Queens
It's like you're really staying in someone's mansion! The feel is not like you're in a hotel but in a fancy home. I liked how quiet it was, and tables to use downstairs. Also loved how big my room was with a desk I could use! Most hotels these days dont have workspace. Loved that there was a fridge in the room but the microwave was downstairs in a kitchen area so you ate down there - that way the room didn't smell. Couldn't figure out the thermostat
Our friends live on Grove Street, so the price and location were perfect. The hotel has history (a gold rush rooming house), and charm, and a nice included breakfast. Worked for us. Nice bay windows facing the street. There were some things to overlook, or know about: if you have big bags or mobility issues, take a room on ground floor, as there is a large Victorian staircase. Showers/bathrooms are tiny, the room is crowded, as well, but not terrible for a night or two.
Fantastic personal service of the staff. Very friendly and helful. Went the xtra mile to make our stay enjoyable. Lovely breakfast provided and complementary afternoon tea. Close to shopping, restaurants no
It's a small, clean, charming hotel with a friendly staff. Breakfast is nice with fresh fruits, yogurt and choice cereals. They opened cafe earlier for us than the set time because of early departure, which we appreciated. We weren't advised of the check-out process. Since we had to depart early, no one was there to take the key. It gave us a bit insecure feeling of leaving it at the front door unattended.
Good breakfast which was worth the extra $10 per person. Close to restaurants and convenience store. The mattress was uncomfortable and the walls were extremely thin.
The breakfast was fantastic! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The house has got a great atmosphere with old antique furniture. And the location is great.
Great staff, great breakfast.
very cool place, staff was very friendly, great breakfast, great value. parking is tight
The staff was very pleasant and helpful, both at the desk and in the breakfast room.
A beautiful and fascinating building very different from the blandness of most city hotels but rather out of the way.
The hotel is very charming, conveniently located, with great street parking. The walls are a little thin and the bathroom in our room was slightly strange (no stand-up shower, just a removable shower head over a square bathtub in the room).
Good appearance and style Small room for the money and no AC.
the late check in at 3pm. it would b nice to see that info somewhere. i could have missed it though. Earlier check in would b nice. Otherwise nice place.
Rooms were clean and staff was helpfull. Reminded me of a quaint European hotel Staff was disorganized, restaurant was expensive, no air condition.
Could be a nice place, but shower did not work at all.
The friendly staff and antiquated-design style. The bathtub was leaking water.
Loved it, can't wait to go back
How unique it is... Rooms small but well organized and works.
I really like the old-time feel of the building and it has been very well maintained. The office staff were kind and helpful.
Very artistic No airconditioning There is only one elevator. Can get busy.
Its a beautiful old inn. The rooms are huge with nice living rooms and big bay windows. Its the highest bed i've been in. The WIFI kind of sucked so it may not be great for biz travel if you need to be seriously online.
The decor was magnificent. Only problem was in the bathroom the shower was either too hot or too cold. The temperature is difficult to control. Also, they don't offer complimentary breakfast that you would get at a normal hotel. Plus the parking fee was $35/night which was definitely out of our budget. It was convient in location because it's only about 15 mins from fisherman's wharf and 10 mins from Chinatown. I would say my experience was alright with the hotel but I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.
Furniture, decoration and bath tub old style . very comfortable in general. The lobby, bar and restaurant beautiful ! Some more maintenance in room, one curtain not working properly, one light not working, fridge a bit noisy and one spider in one corner of the ceiling
Proximity to cable cars and trolley cars to go to Fishermans Wharf, was very good just steps away from hotel to catch the trolley cars. The front staff were very brisk with us, there were homeless people on the stairs outside of our hotel room, thankfully they were gone in the evening. Had to pay $17 for parking at the hotel, and sign a waiver that all valuables would not be kept in the car... I assume due to the clientele of the people in the area.
Better than anything else at the price.
Staff was kinda helpful after finally comin out to see the situation. UGh. Party people. DOORS have big cracks don't seal right. SLAMMED doors every 2 seconds. Bunch of white people calling each other niggah while drinking til 1am . Fighting which finally led to cops coming and shutting them up. Girls showing up half naked and running in and out of rooms. Hearing people bang for 2-3mins all night long.never again. Plus 15.00 parking and not enough parking. Pay the extra money and stay at double tree in Sout San Francisco
clean room, got everything you need, fast wifi there was a weird charge on my card, called them for three times, every time they said will get back to me but they never do. I have to come to the lobby waiting for 20 min finally to get a chance to talk to manager.
I liked the location of this plus the fact that you had access to parking which is $15.00 per day. The cable for our TV didn't work, the TV wouldn't turn on at times, an employee had to come to my room to attempt to fix it and was in our room for a good 20 minutes, and the people in the hotels next door sound like they're right next to you. These walls must be very cheap, it's a very loud area so I don't recommend this area if you plan to get a good night sleep.
Absolutely NOTHING. From The moment I arrived to check in until the time I departed the next day there was absolutely nothing at all that was even resembling a shred of accountability, courtesy, or customer service. This hotel has a problem with a rampant infestation of bedbugs. After only having been in the room for a a couple of hours total I was bitten in several different spots on my body. In the process I managed to actually catch one of the insects and promptly bagged it up in a small, clear, unused garbage bag. I immediately tied the bag shut and took the specimen down to the front office to register a complaint and seek some sort of explanation or at least an apology. Instead I was met with resistance. And, finally they claimed that there wasn't anything that they were going to do about the situation. Having had my luggage in the room and wanting to return home that day I was left with the chore of having to re-wash all of my clothes and treat my small rolling suitcase by having it put away in a cold storage for the next three days. This was costly and time consuming. Not to mention infuriating. That the staff at this hotel is fully aware of the problem and does NOTHING to abate the issue is not just concerning it should quite simply be illegal. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, for any reason. Anyone looking to spend a night in San Francisco will be better served to look elsewhere.
Location is great. A lot of walkable fun. The staff was rude. The AC didn't work and I brought it to their attention. They promised to not charge for the parking to make up for it, and then they charged me anyway. Just a super disappointing and overall bad experience. For the price you would think you were getting something at least half way decent.
I didn't feel safe First night people were knocking on my door all night Why? Most likely prostitutes or those high on meth First day coming back to my room a meth head was outside Hiden as I was opening my door I was surprised by him as he said hey most likely hooking for more meth money I highly don't recommend
It was really over priced for the an outdated room. The front desk clerk was really rude seem to be racist. It's really uncomfortable for a African American student. It's not a safe place. I stayed in room 230 House keeping did not change my sheets in the four days that I stayed. The microwave and the T.V. could not work at the same time. The t.v. had to be turned off in order to use the microwave. There was water damage in the bathroom. I was in a non smokers room but the room smelled like cigarettes.
The location was good for exploring the mission district First night there was a crime scene in the parking lot. Police everywhere dusting for finger prints. Next the walls were paper thin so you can hear everything happening next door from fights to people getting it on. People also hung around til 5 am screaming and smoking outside the doors in the hall way. No quiet hours were enforced. And finally, we opened up our door to a prostitute who had the wrong door number. Would never stay again.
Nothing. Rude clerk. Dirty room. Loud music played half the night. Bad experience.
If you're a traveler on a budget and you're more concerned about the sights and sounds, this hotel is for you. Bring slippers if you don't like dank bathroom floors. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The ventilation isn't good. The walls are thin too, so you probably shouldn't have sex here. Just saying.
Good price, decent location Shared bathroom, dirty carpets, stains on floor/lampshade
Great location and that's about the only plus. I'm not sure the room my boyfriend and I stayed in had ever been cleaned. The sink was clogged with someone else's hair and I ended up using their towels to dust the room myself.
I really loved how modern/chic-ish it looked. The room sizing was decent, if it's just you and one other person. That was what I intended when I booked my room. The maids are really nice and considerate. The free coffee/hot drink maker downstairs made the best early morning coffee! The manager was really nice, asked if I needed directions. The towels provided were really nice, helped dry us off really fast. Location is wonderful, literally a few blocks from the Painted Ladies and Alamo Square! The neighborhood it's in is also very beautiful if you like Queen Victorian Homes. -The "shared bathroom" had rusty shampoo/conditioner hangers in the shower. -The sink in the bathroom was blocky and was just in the way. Really out of place. -There was a small stain on our bed sheets. -Room is stuffy. No A/C. -Walls are a little thin, especially if you have the windows open. -The window opens into this huge open center of the hotel, virtually everyone has their windows open as well, so the noise privacy was virtually non-existent. -You can see people in their rooms if your window is open. Particularly bad because of nudity. -The workers there are very strict and a little over-bearing. It was as if we couldn't have visitors just coming to our room. -Room is really small if you have more than two adults.
The staff were all great ...... very helpful. The location is excellent. Away from the tourist area but within walking distance to tourist spots. A very nice residential area...close to many restaurants and cafes . It reminded me of many European hotels. If you like to,walk, this is the place for you Outside road noise on Fillmore St. started early in the day. However after a couple of days we hardly noticed it.
Comfortable bed. Decent view of city lights. Lots of nearby restaurants, bars and cafes. Fantastic Peet's coffee machine in lobby! Friendly staff. Room was a little stuffy even with window open. Could use better ventilation. If you can't handle shared (single occupant) showers and toilets, you probably won't be happy - but they were clean, readily available and not a problem for me.
It was comfortable, had a window view looking out towards Fillmore street. Cable kinda sucked but who cares, explore San Fran. Everything was walking distances, should try stacks its like half a mile away from the hotel. Affordable, but remember its a Mom and Pop kinda hotel not the best but you get what you paid! Awesome coffee machine they had, its 10x it's size and less simple than a keruge. We lobed our stay at Casa Loma. The beds creeked, sink was in our room, whites sheets were rough. Towels are rough, toiletries are mounted on the wall in the room in a container, overall simple and self explanatory, me and the boyfriend did't really need to call any type of room service. Friendly people and we made a lot of noise in the day no one seemed to complain or had a fuss about the love making we were making haha, so yeah Casa Loma was cute not to much to complain about. BTW WiFi sucked.
This was my second time staying here and the experience was even better than the first. We got an outside facing room with an excellent view of the city (wish I could upload a pic). Clean rooms and facilities. Pretty simple, shared bathrooms and such, but you still get more than you pay for.
- Helpful staff - Blocks from Hayes Valley/The Mission/CastroAlamo Square - Less than a block from bus lines, short walk to train - complimentary coffee in the lobby - budget friendly Cheap beds and linens Cold shower in shared bathrooms Thin walls Can get pretty stuffy No elevator Loud neighbors
Well located, but wish I would have spent the extra $40 to stay at the Motel 6 nearby. The shower was moldy and the beds uncomfortable.
If you're looking looking for a relatively cheap (by SF standards) place to stay, the Oasis is a good choice. We found it clean, the beds were comfortable, and it had showers with ridiculously high flow shower heads that are true delight (if not highly against code!) - we're talking a gallon a second if you want it! It's located in a nondescript neighborhood that is relatively safe after dark - most cheaper rooms than this will put you in neighborhoods you do want to stay in. It's not really near anything of interest except the Civic Center area, but it's pretty easy to get anywhere by taxi or mass transit. There is a Burger King, a sushi joint of untested quality, a Wallgreen's, and a hooch and general vice store within 100 yards - so all your base needs are met. The place is old and run down. Very tired. Like you walk up to the front door and the automatic door is broken, so you have to slide the front door open by hand. But, past the front desk you walk into a tiny little courtyard with tables and chairs - and it does feel like your own little, relaxed and spartan sanctuary within the bustle of SF. So if you've got an open mind and half an ounce of adventure the place does have a certain charm. Think of all you can do with the $300/night you'll be saving versus a better, but nothing to write home about room you'd get elsewhere.
Great location in the heart of San Francisco. Easy to locate and great walking distance to major bus stops. Saved a lot of money. Nearby sketchy neighborhood. Room had a huge water spot in the ceiling with wall and ceiling paint and debris coming off.
Free parking. Walking distance to Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Elevator to all levels, including parking garage. Cleaning service left us a bag of towels at our door even though we had do not disturb sign on door (most places skip cleaning when you have the sign up, but it was great they left us extra towels!). Wi-fi. Parking garage looked sketchy with old mattresses/junk laying around. No microwave/fridge. Outdated.
The location was nice right in the civic center. The best part by far and probably the reason I chose this hotel was for the Parking. It's free guest parking! There's potential in this hotel to be something better but it needs a lot of updates. The walls were paper thin, we heard music and regular conversation from the room next door at 2 am, I didn't want to complain - they weren't even being loud and obnoxious, just having normal volume levels of conversation - and yet you could hear it all! The room is outdated and furniture is not in great shape. Yelp wanted of bed bugs but we didn't encounter any! Still it isn't the kind of place where you would be surprised to find them. They should put some effort into making those hotel better - it feels like they tried to a decade ago and have since forgotten to keep it up.
Liked the price, the location was pretty good and a bus stop close by. A little out dated and could be cleaned better, attention to detail is not the hotels specialty.
The location was centrally located and safe. I liked that they have free parking. Huge plus! Awesome water pressure. The hotel is dated. The door in the bathroom was swollen. Hard to shut. We didn't have fitted sheets. But again, for the price and location, it does the job.
Room, linens, and mattress were clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The gated parking area below the lobby made me feel more secure about leaving my vehicle overnight. The location was a short Uber ride from AT&T Park. It was a great spot to crash after a baseball game. I would stay again. The bed was definitely not luxurious or comfortable, but it served its' purpose. The inn is old, and could use some updating, but my room wasn't in disrepair.
Nothing really We weren't informed that our room was flooded and that we had to go to another hotel which was very ghetto.
I know it's in SF but $150 a night is not worth it for this dump
-good location, its in the city itself -relatively cheap -the best part about this hotel is the FREE INDOOR PARKING, it is hard to find parking in SF, so it is a great place to leave your car in the parking lot and take public transportation or walk around. You can ask the front desk to close the gate for the parking lot at night, so nobody breaks into your car. -did not see any bed bugs -relatively quiet at night, it was March though -family friendly and secure for the most part -rooms are a bit outdated, but clean for the most part, you get what you paid for -rooms are a bit outdated, but not a big deal for me -not really the hotel's problem, but SF has a homeless problem....its very apparent about 2 blocks away from the hotel.
renovated bed rooms with nice decor & comfortable bed; clean close to Hayes Valley, a true SF neighborhood currently under construction, paint works going on resulting in smells & noise; NOT disclosed on web site prior to booking! close to projects; doors are open during cleaning/painting and homeless people wandering around the lot, resulting in safety concerns; no safe in room bathrooms need renovation, stained tub and toilet; 70s decor night staff rude, seemed to have little hospitality training/experience
Bed was comfy Employees were very unhelpful
I like how the front desk guy told me, since I stay here so much I should know when they advertise free parking they mean some time or when available. But, I didn't know in fact it is the reason I stayed loyal to the motel. I feel more of an effort should have been made to keep my reservation, instead he shrugged me off and I un check in and stayed at the same if not better motel on Lombard for a lower price and parking for all there guests. I didn't like the mis advertising of free parking. You should state limited free parking.
I appreciated the proximity of the facility to the building in which I attended a conference. I was able to walk there if necessary, or be transported with ease by colleagues. The rooms were clean and well-arranged. I was prepared for typical downtown noise and heard very little of that. I felt safe on the property. My only criticism concerns the breakfast offered. I think for the price that perhaps a few selections could be added without "breaking the bank," e.g., a griddle or waffle maker or variety of fruit.
The free parking and destinations within a few blocks. Not much in the immediate vicinity.
The price and the free parking. Terrible internet service that did not work most of the time. Stairway smelled like urine. Rooms were kinda gross looking.
check in was a breeze the cockroach on the pillow .
Room was clean very well and staff very helpfull good value for money. no
It has HBO I think this hotel should be removed from booking.com. It is in a scary area, and: we couldn't sleep because there where men hanging around in front of our rooms' door for all night, and both rooms next to us where full of men talking loud and screaming. We felt scared and left the hotel in the middle of the night to find another hotel.
good location older worn out building
good location, almost in downtown, big clean room hotel has only limited number of park places so if you come late (as we did) you must park on street which isn't for free.
Everybody was very nice, and I could take the pubic tranportations easily. The elevator was not clean
room was very big and clean, staff friendly. Its not a brand new hotel but everything was clean. good value. the area is not great, but safe during the day. if you travel by car you are safe anyway, wouldn't recommend walking at night there.
Only dislike was the fluctuating water temperature while showering.
Close to everything, price was perfect!
The room looked and smelled like they just used cheap carpet powder. It had bedbugs and the staff was very rude!!
No hot water for showers both mornings. Very loud, hard to relax and sleep. People talking loud, parking garage is below the rooms and not covered so you can hear people taking, car doors slamming, cats coming and going etc. The empty the garbage dumpster between 5am and 6am through the garage and that is very fricking loud. Walls are very thin and toy can hear people talking in the next room. Not a place to get rest and relaxation. Parking lot is small and you will most likely have to park on the streets which are full of homeless drunks and druggies.
