Pros: Really nice feel in hotel, great interiors and brilliant music system integrated into room. Breakfast really good and could not fault staff at all, when we arrived they told us the best places to go and upgraded us free to a balcony room as it was our 1st time in Barcelona. On my wife’s birthday they saw the card and left a note and some cake in our room, which was lovely.

Cons: I was given a room on level 3, and realised it’s the only floor not renovated. Room was old, dark, rough bedsheets, the toilet flush didn’t work on the first day (though they repaired it promptly). I wish I was given the option to upgrade, but the hotel were fully booked. The old rooms were not acceptable in my opinion.

Cons: The decor was a bit weird. The bathtub/shower sill was far too high and was dangerous (we were traveling with an architect and we are convinced that this height does not meet code). In addition, the gym was very poor. They only had a few machines and 2 of them were broken.

Pros: Breakfast was exceptionally good. Lots of choice and plenty of food available. Staff were very helpful, not only in the restaurant but also the reception desk when we arrived early. The metro was just outside the door which made getting around the city very easy. The room was small but very comfortable and we had a great view from our window. We would be happy to stay here again.

Cons: The internet was a terrible and VERY expensive. Maid refused to deliver coffee 7 of the 10 days as required. Concierge cost us two days & admission from bad directions & the wrong tickets. Food was poor. Parking was EXPENSIVE. Room was hot and wet.

Cons: Everything tries to have a super trendy vibe that just doesn't seem realistic. Too much loud music and emphasis on parties that seem over blown. The pricing for everything is easily twice any other place that we visited in Barcelona, and there just isn't a reason for it beyond the hotel just charging more because they can. Its very far away from anything else.

Cons: See through shower walls, so no privacy when sharing a room. Also, the Sky bar (the only bar in the hotel) was closed the whole time, except Tuesday afternoon. The pool hours could have been longer also.

Pros: The property is very friendly. Yes it’s a gay friendly hotel so couples can have a safe place to enjoy each other without judgement! However it’s also just a regular trendy chic hotel. I stayed with my best friend and they were very accommodating! Friendly and sweet staff. Around ALOT of restaurants. Hot water, clean, and provided a lot of free great quality toiletries.

We paid more than $100 a night plus tax and fee but unfortunate not include breakfast... That's kinda disappointing but well.. Maybe something you can check with the hotel when u make a booking.

He gave us tipa for our stay, offered to print out our tickets to La sagrada familia, which were ready for us as soon as we went downstairs. We really enjoyed the customer service here it was the best received in our entire trip in Spain.

Cons: When I did the reservation, 1 month in advance,, they took my money straight away (by mistake) and it took me 2 days to speak with them. When I finally talk with them by phone, they told me this was a mistake and the returned my money, but 1) I paid in Sterling, not Euros, so there was £3 that were lost 2) they knew the did a mistake (apparently a new employee), but they didn't communicate with me. I sent 3 emails that are not answered yet. When I did the check-in, I was with my partner and I originally did the booking for 1 person. I asked in reception if this was an issue or if I had to pay anything extra. They told me no. The day I left, I receive an email saying I need to pay the tourist fee + 2 more breakfast. Again, communication issues. I don't mind to pay, but I asked if an extra person was incurring extra cost, and they told me NO. On the other side, booking.com has behaved pretty bad also. When I told them that Axel hotel took my money and they were not answering to my mails, they told me to speak with the hotel directly. I have been using booking for more than 10 years, I have more than 160 reservations, and this is the first time I have an issue, but I can see that customers means nothing for booking.com, so this is my last reservation.

There were many straight couples, guess they did not know they arrived in a gay hotel. looks like too many straights for the gay community, to many gays for the straight guests. I am gay but this time the mix was not good. Check in lasted forever, they write you a guest pass by hand, it takes forever... worst check in in my life. Hotel was not able to provide service to print out my online boarding pass.. what a shame. I did not feel anything of the original gay concept, I felt they just sold out the hotel to anybody just to make money ( whats ok), but this was not my axel hotel from some years ago. It was just a very busy hotel and not sure if the value for the hotel was very good this time. Just my opinion.

Pros: We booked this property by accident but turned out to be awesome. It was a little farther away from the traditional ‘tourist’ areas than we expected enabling us to explore the local area. Two metro stations with a km making it really easy to get around. Walking distance from Segrada Família and easy metro to Las Ramblas, Gothic Quarter, and the beach. The hotel had a great little play area for the kids. This saved us when one of the boys would wake up in early morning. If you’re down there prior to 7am, there was complementary espresso.....

Pros: Very good location, we stayed with kids and they really enjoyed the Kids play area. The room was nice and clean and the location was perfect, close to Glories shopping center, with a lot of shops, Carrefour supermarket, bars and food court, very close to Glories metro station and near the tram station as well, 25 minutes to walk to Sagrada Familia.

Cons: The place is nice and clean, also the location is decent but be careful if you are a light sleeper or have sleeping issues since the windows are not maybe properly installed and if you get a front side that is road side room it’ll be like sleeping on the pavement because of all the noise of traffic coming into the room. I stayed for a night only luckily and could hardly sleep for more than 10mins continuously. First I had to wait till 11pm so there was less frequent and even after that every 10mins whether a motorbike or some other vehicle used to go by and wake me up. Immediately after check in I went to reception to inform them that I couldn’t sleep because of this and there response was that there is nothing they can do since they didn’t have a same category room available. I would be a great customer service experience if they would have changed my room to the backside regardless of the room category or to some other property since I later found out that they have multiple properties in the same vicinity. I just think they’d be a way if they wanted to help but they coldly said “sorry there’s nothing we can do” as far as I remember.
