The Grand Hyatt is our favorite hotel. They have everything from good food to gift shops to a pool. I would highly recommend it! The room service options were slightly limited
Lots of foodie options and gourmet coffee within a five minute walk. Close to subway. Acceptably clean. Clearly some deferred maintenance in the guest room bathroom.
Great accommodations perfect for Travel Show we were attending. Loved the location--convenient to many restaurants and sites of the city.
Location, location, location Helpful staff Very outdated Raggedy carpet Stench in hallway Noise from plumbing in next room
It was clean The parking very expensive
Clean room Quiet Friendly Staff Great location Great price Nothing!
Close proximty to city center, metro access through lobby. Nothing
Location was excellent. The hotel is really nice and the price we got could not be beat.
I like that I was created with champagne and the staff were very friendly!
The room was very clean, the price was reasonable for downtown DC. Went to get away and attend a Wizards game, and the location is perfect for attending events at Verizon. Would absolutely stay again. Pool water was cold.
The location was great and the rooms were updated. To big. Staff was not very friendly.
Everything was very good but the cost was high for a room. I could have been as comfortable at a less expensive hotel Cost
First class location and facilities Expensive
Very friendly staff! Watch the charges. Some claim "free" or complimentary but they aren't. Also the front desk wasn't staffed well for a busy weekend of a large charity function. Longer than expected wait times to check-in and out especially.
I liked the location Facilities, it is expensive for what they offer
Friendly staff. Citrus water in lobby refreshing Great interior design/decor Location No free wi-fi
Updated, modern hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location for touring DC by foot. Restaurant food was so-so. Found places close by for all of our other meals.
location and the size of the family room is perfect Bathroom of the room is too small ,rooms are too cold ,no place to get poor breakfast
The staff was friendly, location was convenient, rooms were very comfortable and nicely furnished.
Spacious and comfortable. Visibly older and run-down in places.
This hotel is an oasis within the city offering old fashioned values and quality service.
The hotel has been recently renovated, so everything was brand new. Note that only half of the hotel is the "historic" part, now the other half is new. That didn't bother me at all. There was a very nice, upscale feel to the whole place. The staff were wonderful - very nice and accommodating. I stayed one night and when I came into my room after being out, all of my lights weren't working - a breaker had blown. When I called the front desk, it was taken care of within 10 minutes by a very polite maintenance staffer. The location was just okay - I walked from the closest Metro (Mt Vernon/Convention Center), and found myself walking along a street with boarded up houses. I wasn't taking any shortcuts, this was one of the main streets by the hotel. This wasn't too much of a problem for me, as I used Lyft to get everywhere and didn't do much walking at all. But it is something to keep in mind if you are making a reservation here. The only other thing was that my bed was very firm. That's a total personal preference, but did interfere with my sleep
Unique historic and charming hotel in great downtown location. Nice antique furnishings, nice dining are for breakfast. The room was small but clean and comfortable.
The hotel was absolutely stunning! The restaurant's service was great and the food was delicious.
Small room. Dirty carpet. TV in a cabinet. Full size bed. Horrible stay
staff was courteous They accepted my reservation then gave away the room. Sent me to another hotel without rooms. A true nightmare in the middle of the night in DC
The hotel was quiet, the room furnishings were fresh and attractive, and I found the decor pleasing generally. The room overlooked the courtyard, which was also quiet. A good location too--we were able to walk to many of our destinations right from the hotel. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I needed a cab one rainy morning, and asked at the front desk if they could call for one. Instead, the bellman grabbed his umbrella and went out to the street, down to the nearest busy corner, and whistled up one for me. Above and beyond! Our room was small--would have been perfect for a single guest, but a little cramped for two. Just one bedside table, for example, with no room for a second. We would have liked a king bed, but one evidently wasn't available--again, perhaps a size issue. Last, half the wardrobe cabinet was taken up by a room safe and refrigerator pre-stocked with candy, soda, and alcohol, so there wasn't quite enough room for two people to hang our things. And yes, no iron or ironing board. We didn't try the meal facilities. We'd stay again--the pluses outweigh the minuses.
The location is convenient.
Charming historic feel, convenient location but out of the big hotel loop. It felt more like staying in a neighborhood yet could easily get everywhere I wanted to by walking or metro. The staff was pleasant enough but I would have expected a small hotel to be a little more personal.
The staff were very friendly and helpful our room was at the front of the building and traffic at 5am was very loud.
Convenient location to my meeting. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Be sure to ask for a quiet room. The traffic on Mass. Ave. side can be heard even on the higher floors.
CLEAN ROOMS AND COMFY BEDS, GREAT LOCATION
The room is very spacious, clean and very well decorated. The bed is even more comfortable than Hilton! I enjoy my stay here. Definitely recommended!
A very business-like but friendly hotel. The staff were particularly helpful but not over the top. Boutique - but not small. Very convenient for the local convention centre without the overblown prices of the other "standard" business hotels. An excellent restaurant, conducive for business meetings. I will make this my regular stay for future annual conferences.
The hotel and the staff. Both warm inviting and beautiful!
Excellent location. In-house restaurant for breakfast. Only one chair in a double room.
the hotel provided free wifi, was clean and comfortable and was in walking distance of all main attractions needed a little up dating
The hotel is within 4 blocks on the Mt Vernon/Convention Center Metro station. There's a CVS close by for forgotten items and it's on the way to the metro. There's a few places to grab a meal within a one block radius. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. They have a business center with a printer for printing boarding passes or emails. The TV has a great selection of channels. The toilet was really low, hard for tall people with bad knees. The bed could have been a little more comfortable. The A/C blows on the bed if you don't adjust the levers. There's not enough light by the mirror for makeup, they need to have a movable mirror that you can take to the desk. Only one of the bedside lamps worked. One of the elevators was down, so it sometimes took a long time to get to the room.
Location...Its a short walk from the Washington Mall. They dont have an AC.They have a heater and if you tell them your room is too hot, they asked us to open a window They gave a loud fan which made noise than cool the room. The room is tiny. The flush in the restroom was inefficient. There is no option to park your own car.The valet service is mandatory and is an additional 45$ per night. No inhome laundry service. We walked in from the rain soaking wet and they said they didnt have a dryer in house.
I was given the suite as I booked two months ahead of the stay. It was really an experience to have the suite in such a vintage hotel
Pleasant helpful staff, superlative room, great location, overall would visit again
Great room layout comfortable bed and fun happy hour for kids. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, good and convenient breakfast. When staff knows a family booked a room they should give multiple shampoos and conditioners before we have to ask bc we found ourselves without enough. Glasses (drinking) were not replaced daily.
This Embassy Suites hotel has a great DC location. We have stayed here three separate times, stopping here on our DC trips. It is easy to walk from here to many of the central DC sites you want to see. It has a good family feel with a family cocktail hour that my kids love to participate in. They have a great room set up with games and snacks for families with small kids, and a separate cocktail room for adults not families with older kids. Breakfast is great...huge diversity of options, relatively fast for the volume, and my "picky kids" are happy and full by the time we walk away. The hotel rooms are worn down. The bathrooms are fifteen years past needing updating. The pool is too small, over chlorinated, and depressing. The cocktail hour is chaotic, understaffed and the snacks can not keep up with the crowd. (I get that it is free, but you have to keep up or just not offer it).
Location was great. It was walking distance from many main sites in Washington. A metro was near by but, we didn't need to use it. The area is filled with excellent restaurants to walk to and there is a Starbucks across the street. The staff is very helpful with planning anything. I love the comfy beds and pillows at the Embassy Suite Hotels!
Hotel location was between two metro stops serving different lines making it easy to navigate around the city. The breakfast and evening receptions were good. The room was well laid out and made it comfortable for three adults to coexist. Due to the popularity of the evening manager's reception the room where the event is held could be larger.
Price, location, 2 rooms for children, swimming pool, breakfast included, happy hour for parents, great city location
Clean room, friendly staff, great location, everything you want from a hotel
room were comfortable, especially the bed. staff were very helpful with planning of tour. very impressed with the happy hour where drinks and nibbles were provided free of charge between 4 and 6 every evening
Centrally located. Lovely staff. They had free happy hour every night! In DC, that is nothing to sniff at. Continental breakfast had everything under the sun. The room was clean and comfy, but it was a wi-fi dead zone. You had to pay $10 a day for wifi, and my cell phone signal only worked when I was in the bedroom next to the window (we had a king suite on the 11th floor). The walls were that thick, I suppose? There's nothing that says cheap more than making guests pay for wi-fi at a $230/night hotel.
Location to the DC Conference Center; free breakfast Would have appreciated small half-half packets in room instead of powdered milk for coffee
Very well received and nice and clean facilities. We've enjoyed our stay. The manager's reception was a +and the inlcuded breakfast had everything we needed to start the day on a good note.
I enjoyed both a convenient location and hotel facilities, especially the indoor swimming pool gave me a remedy for jet lag. What we could see from the windows was only the wall of the next building. I agreed with this stuation because I chose this hotel by the location, otherwise I would have stayed in the suburbs.
The breakfast was good. All sights are in walking distance None
It was actually better then the picture and I thought the picture was nice. Living space large and attractive; the kitchen area was beautiful. And the shower was great. Difficult to park
Very comfortable main bedroom and fully equiped kitchen. Close to metro station. Very helpful staff Lots of noise from fridge for person sleeping in sofa bed. No restaurants close by.
Good value accomodation for our family (2 adults and 1 teenager) giving us 2 separate rooms with the ability to cook some basic meals. Continental breakfast was included in the price and consisted of a selection of pastries, toast, juice, tea and coffee. We were near a metro station and all the major sights of Washington making this a great base. One end of the road (that nearest the convention centre) was a bit seedy and rundown. Buildings were boarded up and looked desolate.
Spacious suite, close to metro station , very helpful staff breakfast room too small but I understand this is being rectified. Would have liked better info in rooms regarding local amenitis such as a super, marrket
The hotel is located in a very convenient place, 5 minutes from the metro and 10 minutes from Chinatown. The room was very clean, very classy and the bed was extremely comfortable.
the proximity to the convention center and to the commercial areas. I love the shower it has the best water pressure. Also the convenience of the kitchen, microwave and the refrigerator. There was no lobby like the other luxurious hotels, also the breakfast area is too small, need more than pastries, boiled eggs would have been better to start the day, and also the pull up sofa needs to be changed we ended up sleeping on the floor because the mattress like lost its cushion that the wires sticks your back when you lay down on it.
Our stay was most pleasant in every respect. Location was paramount. Some of the furniture was scaled to smaller people and really not to American standards
The decor was modern and interesting and is was close to a Metro stop. The front desk people were helpful. It was nosy and there were a number of abandoned buildings next door that are awaiting refurbishment. We had to ask to have the beds made. The breakfast is very continental. There was little variety and no protein.
The Eldon Suites is a great hotel. The rooms are big and clean. The building is a 5 minute walk from the convention center, which was perfect for me as a conference exhibitor. The adjacent building was under construction the whole time, but that is only temporary and not The Eldon Suite's fault. The room was VERY well lit, which is a typical problem in hotels. The water pressure was high and delivered very hot water. The extremely hot showers at the end of the long work days were much appreciated. I would definitely stay here again. The blinds in my specific room didn't completely block out view of the adjacent building which was under construction. I felt like workers could look into my room. I understand that's quite common in DC, but it was a little distracting. Otherwise, I really liked my room at the Eldon Suites.
The hotel staff was very friendly and the room was a good lay out. Very good location as well. The fitness room is not really a fitness room. It just had a treadmill a stationary bike that did not work and two bowflex machines. I was very dissapointed
This hotel was perfect. The metro was two blocks away. All in all I would recommend this to anyone. The wifi was a bit slow and you don't get any wifi signal in the bedroom
Front desk staff were positive and upbeat. I was upgraded to the Penthouse Suite for no additional charge which was unexpected and very nice.
The staff were exceptional - friendly, professional, and accommodating! Spacious room that was very nice. Comfortable bed with freshly washed duvet instead of a nasty bedspread. Mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room, although fresh coffee was available in the lobby at any time. Wonderful shower and clean bathroom. Having never stayed in Washington DC before, we were surprised by the fee for parking instead of free parking. We found later that every hotel in DC charges for parking. It was roughly $50 per day but parking was secured safely in two basement levels. We had access to the car whenever we wanted, we just had to ask. our checkout time was 12:00 Sunday, but could stay parked until 1:00. We checked out in the morning and were able to pay an extra $10 to leave it parked until 5:00. Good deal! If you stay here, be sure to eat at least once at Busboys and Poets around the corner. Best crab cake platter I ever had! The were served over grits that were as creamy as mashed potatoes, covered with lobster sauce, and topped with fresh asparagus. And the waiting area is a bookstore! Wonderful atmosphere in the bookstore and restaurant.
Convenient to convention center. Older but modernized and clean. Not a lot of parking available. Valet was full both nights I stayed. Hotel keys problematic. Vending machines were not working On my floor.
Free hot breakfast and wifi are always appreciated, as are 24-hour coffee and tea (although one has to travel to the lobby for it!). Very convenient location within easy walking distance of metro station. Items in snack shop were overpriced and some items were out of stock, which further constrained one's already limited food options.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The gym had four workout machines and two of them were not functional. In the morning this prevented travelers from getting a morning workout in.
A great value for being walkable to the capital mall area, great restaurants, etc. A block from Safeway too.
Staff, breakfast, pool
Forced to valet park at $99 for 2 nights. I don't like to valet park. I didm;t have an option. If I had known this ahead of time, I never would have booked.
Always enjoy our stay here - great location
Complimentary Coffee/Tea bar 24/7, breakfast, daily apples in lobby, friendly staff. Neighborhood location under construction.
It was a nice hotel, in a relatively good location. Not a far walk to the Smithsonians, White House, etc. Parking is expensive and they tell you there's no charge for room service to be delivered, but there is.
Room was good for one person on a business trip. I had problems with the parking. It was expensive for the bad service that was given to me. Also I was double charged for my room. I have booked many hotel rooms and that has never happened to me
Various food, games Stains and hair contaminated blankets and towels.
I like it gives you your own kitchen in the room and it's across the street from a grocery store. Its clean, front desk is nice. Breakfast was leftover food from the social, you have to pay 50 bucks for parking everynight. The toilets water pressure is atrocious i mean 5 sheets of paper takes 2 tries to flush.
I had never stayed in a hostel before but I had a large travel delay. It was very pleasant. The staff was very accommodating, knowledgeable and pleasant. Also I saw a few of the other hostels in the area... but this one was the winner. There seemed to only be one elevator accommodating the entire facility. It made arriving/leaving with luggage more of a hassle.
It was my first time staying in a hostel and overall, it was a good yet different experience. The area of the hostel wasn't in an area far away from the awesome city sights. Some areas of the hostel could be updated a bit or given a better cleaning. However overall it was cool and I would go back. The kitchen area could've used a better cleaning and some areas of the building, such as the bathrooms, could use an update. The walls were thin too so you could hear easily people coming and going. However, the staff was fairly friendly and it was great they had live music during my stay.
environment was cool and the people were really nice. location was spot on
The location was great just a quick walk to all the major tourist sites. Is not luxuries but if you need a place to crash and are on tight budget there isn't anywhere better.
It's perfect for those that plan on being out and about all day. It's a place to store your things and rest your head. Great. More Breakfast variety.
Location was very good. Provided what I needed. Probably the best hostel I have stayed in. Everything was good.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. We had just arrived with our baby, it was a Tuesday at 3:30 pm, and a black woman at the front desk, after we asked for a crib and couldn't listen at what she was saying, started yelling at us with no reason. I asked her why she was yelling and she said that because we couldn't understand. I never understood why she was so angry, maybe a bad day, but for sure it wasn't our fault.
