Staff was very helpful, allowed early check in after long international flight. Breakfast was great. Location was central. Room and lobby were lovely. Nothing not to like.
The location, in the heart of Lisbon, is great. You get the worst of the two worlds, old and new. The facilities are old, and oddly for a historical hotel, quite charmless. The rooms are dark, the bedding cheap, and the room furniture straight out of the seventies. Although "run-down" would be an exaggeration, the hotel seriously needs a face lift, a bit more comfort, and some taste in its decorations (throwing sloppily a hodge-podge of old-looking furniture doesn't really do it, nor holding on to carpets that haven't been changed in twenty years.) The amenities are next to non-existent (for example, the hotel does not have a restaurant.) You obviously cannot expect a historical hotel to have the same level of comfort and the same amenities as a modern one. But would it be too much to ask that a five-star try? You pay for five-star and you get a three-star.
The location, the staff and the breakfast. Nothing
Everything at this hotel is to like. From the setting, room furnishings, attention to detail, amenities, breakfast and excellent staff. Couldn't find one fault with this hotel. Would be delighted to find a reason to go back.
Not the cheapest hotel in Lisbon, but for sure, the best value for money ratio :)... it's really a palace in the centre of Lisbon! Very cosy and very relaxing, luxorius but not opulent... everything is made with very good taste, the staff is very friendly!
Attentiveness of staff and concierge was most helpful. Very central and close to all sites.
The staff was very friendly and useful. The interior design was warm and inviting. Breakfast could have more choices, considering that this is 5-star hotel.
The hotel was beautiful and truly monumental and a part of the Portuguese history, opulence and grandeur. Everything about it was magnificeint, from the lobby to the room, to the hotel service and staff. I couldn't have wished for more!
Old world elegance, excellent breakfast, fine complimentary concerts most evenings Evening front desk staff which blatantly pushes guests to restaurants which pay them for referrals.
Our room was cold
The gorgeous interior and old world charm!
The staff were I found the all the staff were very helpful especially those on the front desk. The hotel has a great position and thou the kitchen was closed during my stay, there are numinous restaurants near to the hotel.
great location and attentive staff.Nice terrace bar and breakfast place. Great location to walk around downton Lisbon. Rooms are nice but on the small size. The hotel public spaces is small, lack of salons, boutiques or restaurant choices.
nice service, polit and patient staff, convenient location and elegant interior decoration
Good service and the brilliant situation. The seventh floor was closed.
The location was great, the staff very helpfu,l the room very clean Breakfast was not included like it was in every hotel we stayed in Portugal . The parking cost $22 extra. The room had no hair dryer
Central location and good brasserie on top floor of building. Did not sleep very well in this particular hotel. There was a single large down comforter for two instead of the more usual two. They fixed it, after some explaining on second day.
The hotel staff were very pleasant. They always welcomed you upon entering and leaving and genuinely seemed happy to see you. They helped us with places to eat, getting cabs, and even had a Blackberry charger for me since I brought the wrong charger. The duluxe room we stayed in had a small balcony where we spent some really nice time watching the city go by while we enjoyed a class or port. The hotel restaurant on the roof is a nice touch. Some people complained in other reviews about the rooms being small, but I didn't feel cramped at all. The room included a desk, minibar, and a decent closet with plenty of space as well as a bench.
The hotel is very well-placed and design. People are very kind and helpful. The buffet on the 7th floor (with terrace) is very good. Rooms are overlooking the main streets and windows make it silent. It is not a "cheap" hotel, but the quality worth the price paid.
Location is probably the best you can get for downtown Lisbon Staying at the 6th floor you have the trade-off between a no-nonsence terrace allowing for some nice snapshots and the noise from the restaurant, around 1am and 6am.
Excellent location to restaurants, museums, and Town Square. Staff was very cordial. Hotel very clean and modern. Free breakfast had quality food and abundance.
Friendly and Accommodating Staff Great modern room Close to everything in the City Walkable from Cais Do Sodre Station (~100 Meters, mostly uphill) Affordable Nothing
Great location just a few blocks from the stores and restuarants. Very clean and elegant look inside with a complementary drink and breakfast for thw stay. N/A
I'm 21 and I traveled with my 60 year old mother, and we were both blown away. Such a beautiful hotel. We stayed on the first floor, on the back side of the buiding, and we had a amazing terraces with a couch, 2 chairs, and an umbrella. The room itself was gorgeous. The shower basin was very shallow, so the bathroom floor often got pretty wet, but that was hardly an issue. The workout room was a bit of a joke, but we were on vacation, so it's not like we were going to workout anyways. The staff was absolutely delightful, and helped with everything we asked. Other reviewers complained about how dark the hotel was, but neither me nor my mother were bothered by it. I would recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone traveling to Lisbon. It was such a novelty with fun furniture and great decorations.
A beautiful little boutique hotel with a friendly staff. The room was small but included two comfy window seats that provided comfortable places to lounge, and we appreciated the in-room nespresso machine. The roof deck bar was delightful, with a great view. Breakfast was elaborate, with hot dishes that could be ordered a la carte as well as a huge and varied buffet of all kinds of sweet and savory treats. There were also snacks (brownies, gummy candies, cookies, etc.) available every afternoon in the lobby. Located an attractive (shaded!) walk through the shopping district away from the center of town. Good availability of subway lines within walking distance, and the airport bus stops just across the square. Very few complaints. The gym a/c sometimes struggled to keep things cool, and a free weight was missing. Rooftop bar needed better wine selections. Stocking of the nespresso pods/extras was a bit spotty, and the cleaners' station was next to our room, and there was occasionally some loud slamming of the doors there. This was really only an issue in mid-afternoon, though.
Very nice hotel. I'll recommande without hesitation! Thank you! Marcel Lavertu
Loved the decor, friendly staff, and greeted with champagne at check-in. Clean rooms with great views and comfortable beds.
the location of the hotel and the design the room was new, bright, clean and attractive room was a little small but not a big problem
Loved the decor. Location was prime and walkable to most areas. Bathroom was a bit tight, but nicely appointed.
Very nice room and great price. Also, very convenient to walking, attractions and shopping They were under construction but that was OK...they gave us passes for breakfast at a local cafe. It was perfectly fine
The hotel's location is amazing.. Also the modern design of the rooms was very nice and the staff working were really helpful .. I am sure will stay again in this hotel if we go back to Lisbon the size of the rooms, ours was L and we GCC ppl are really used to big sizes, about myself i really hate small places and found category L acceptable and nice.. I do not recommend the S or M rooms.. Also the reception was very small and no enough waiting area but again that is nothing in comparison with the views, employees & rooms...
it was a great location, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. the room we stayed in was 411 and the bathroom had a slopping roof, which was extreemly uncomfortable to get in and out of the shower.
The breakfast-room and the service! Parking was full and just a short answer that there was still a public-one. No help offered and we were walking with all our stuff on the street.Airconditioning not sufficient. We ware in a 'large' room, what about a 'small'-one????
Central location of the hotel and the helpfulness of the staff.
Great location, all within walking distance to all tourist attractions. Shops, resturants and bars all beside you.
convenient location, nice room, friendly staff very dark room due to only small window to alley
We liked everything during our stay, from our beautiful and colourful room to the delicious breakfast and of course the very helpful staff. Very good location, and, even if on a big square, it is very calm. We'll recommend it to all our friends and will definitly stay there again with pleasure.
Location can not be better. The S room was confortable for a couple. It was clean and nice furnished. Breakfast was superb. Frontdesk people very helpfull. We'll stay again and recomend it 100%.
Clean, value for money, stff very helpful. Good breakfast
friendly staff, good breakfast
Hotel was very clean, good size room. Good selection of restaurants in the surrounding area, and only 10 minute stroll to Rossio. Sound of flushing toilets and water running if bathroom door left open. Very uncomfortable bed, thin walls between guest rooms. Breakfast, on the whole, was quite good, but squash instead of juice and the machine coffee was the worst I have tasted.
It is a good hotel but surely not a 4 stars hotel. May be a good 3 stars. It isn't in ceter town but well served by bus (100mts away) and metro (500mt away). Taxi are not very expensive from the hotel to town center. Breakfast is good but not a 4 stars standard.
this is a good city centre hotel which offers good clean accommodation in lisbon
I booked this hotel as it said - close to airport and Shuttle service, which usually means free shuttle. Well, it wasn't free, had to be pre-arranged, and ended up doubling the cost of the hotel room to stay here one night, for taxi to and from the airport. and was like 30 minutes from the airport.
Excellent Breakfast, helpful staff No drinks in the mini bar - fridge not in operation.
very freindly staff.excellent service,beautiful breakfast.
Location. Staff was friendly, but not outgoing. They answered questions but didn't offer service. Room was clean but shabby. Air conditioner did not work. Bathroom walls so thin we could hear next door guest blowing his nose. No kleenex supplied in bathroom.
Room had a fridge and the heating and cooling system were quiet. The desk clerk was very nice. Not a real exciting location. But, close enough to the metro to haul a suitcase (about seven blocks from Marques de Pombal).
price lack of any single access point for internet. only paying 3€/hour!! not even in the lobby or bar.
Business client. Just stay for the night. No complains. The hotel car park is expensive, it costs 10€/night. Finding another is difficult near the hotel.
Top floor apartment with balcony and fantastic view over Lisbon (as requested!), good kitchen facilities. Minor leak in toilet waste-pipe, repoted but not actioned.
Excellent location for city centre and transfers from airport.Fabuloius view from rooftop terrace. Cleanliness of the room; view from window was an alley way and another building.Swimming pool was a bit green!
The room was well furnished especially the kitchen. Perfect situation. Fantastic view from the rooftop bar. Staff at check in was very beaurocratic and not welcoming. Check in time is late. Aircon is off in "winter" despite it being 24 C. Therefore one has to open windows at night which is very noisy. Bar overpriced
swimming pool staff
The location was excellent. We also liked the cleaniness of the spacious room. The Kitchen was also aptly equipped.
That it was close to Metro No internet access unless you had laptop. Late check in
Location is excellent; the roof terrace is beautiful The swimming pool is very small (about 10 meters), not suitable for swimming; selection at breakfast better resembles to that of a 2* than a 4* hotel
Excellent location, very clean and comfortable rooms and helpful staff.....if I returned to Lisbon I would go back to this hotel There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel.....all good
Excellent location in the heart of Lisboa, beautiful views, nice and helpful Staff
Rooftop restaurant & pool plus superb location.
Location. No car parking facility
Nice rooms, cool design, good location and price
the welcoming staff the bed was not very comfortable
Hotel room was very comfortable and the location was convenient for both transportation and sightseeing. The closet was very small. The bathroom could use better air circulation.
Excellent location and very good rooms, excellent shower! Breakfast expensive
Very convenient for the city. Very comfortable and clean. Helpful and friendly staff. Good noise insulation from the street The noise insulation between rooms was poor.
Quiet, no noise to keep you awake. Good buffet breakfast. Staff were excellent. Small insignificant concerns; Only one pillow each, Fuse box in room 'buzzed' so had to switch off main isolator each night to sleep, Little natural light due to small windows.
The location and the cleannes of the hotel Would be good if the double bed was not made off two twin beds!!
The localisation is very good. The room is nice, comfortable and clean. I was suprised that in 4* hotel any water, tea or coffee is not on disposal in the room, accept minibar.
Luxury hotel at good rate
position of hotel is wonderful, transportation is very easty from hotel to anywhere and to hotel. rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel staff is very helpful. air condition was big problem. management of otel wrote a "sorry note" for it but there was no date on his note. So I don't think air condition problem will be solve soon. Potential customer should be carefull about it. If air condition doesn't work you should open room's window but terrible noise comes from environment. it is not easy to sleep.
Very nice designhotel in the centre of Lisbon, prices are ok, breakfast with famous pasteis de Belem !
It was so charming and beautiful and modern in design. I loved it and plan on returning. It was in a great location near everything. My room was very small but that is what I booked. Plus if your on vacation you shouldnt be in your room except to sleep, so it was ok.
Central location, nice design, friendly stuff, - From 9 days, we had 5 days no internet-connection in the room - ventilation system from the reataurants next door is loud an stinky (when you open the window) - double standard room is small
Hotel is on a very central location (just a few meters from Restauradores Metro Station), which makes it convenient to move around the different neighbourhoods (Baixa, Libertades, Rossio, Bairro Alto, etc) or connect to train stations and airport. The staff was very friendly and willing to assist you on your needs and queries about the city. Because the hotel just opened 3 weeks before my stay, they were still dealing with getting the city permit to use the a/c in the bedrooms. So, I stayed there for 9 nights w/o a/c although the staff provided an electric vent for my use. It made it easier to stand the hot nights in Lisbon.
Friendly staff and location (very very citycentre) Airco was not working and sleeping with windows open was no option due to noise outside on the streets. The very friendly hotelstaff moved us to another room.
Very modern and hip design, wi-fi in the rooms and a good breakfast. Great central location that wasn't small. The rooms are small (I stayed in a double and felt like I would have been cramped with a second person).
Excellent location. Very clean hotel. Excellent value for money. Lovely breakfast. Perfect for weekend break. No kettle in room. Room sometimes cold. Can hear some noise from corridors.
The hotel's position was extremely central, but relatively quiet as it was down a side road off one of the main squares. I thought the interior design was fun, and made a refreshing change from the hideous chintz one often gets in this class of hotel. There was a lovely sun terrace on which guests can eat breakfast and all the rooms had Korres toiletries, which is always a bonus! Services were a bit random and didn't work all the time E.G. the lift wasn't working when we arrived, the wi-fi was really weak, the air conditioning was broken and the card machine had to be repaired before we could check out. However it sort of fitted with the 'randomness' of Portugal, was only mildly annoying and didn't spoil the stay.
Excellent location, nicely styled; great value for the money. Booked a 'superior' room and received a free upgrade to 'Family'. Rooms were small (even the largest); beds uncomfortable. Visited in winter, and the heating did not work for the first night - it was the next day before they fixed it. But, the most annoying part: the wireless internet connection did not work at all. Everytime this was mentioned to the staff, they were very dismissive, and almost rude. They offered the use of the one iMac at the check-in desk, which was not at all practical. It seemed like they knew the internet was not working, and lied about it, while expressing 0 interest in having it fixed. A major negative for an otherwise great stay.
