Pros: Old world elegance, excellent breakfast, fine complimentary concerts most evenings
Cons: Evening front desk staff which blatantly pushes guests to restaurants which pay them for referrals.
Pros: The location, the staff and the breakfast.
Pros: Staff was very helpful, allowed early check in after long international flight. Breakfast was great. Location was central. Room and lobby were lovely.
Cons: Nothing not to like.
Pros: Everything at this hotel is to like. From the setting, room furnishings, attention to detail, amenities, breakfast and excellent staff.
Cons: Couldn't find one fault with this hotel. Would be delighted to find a reason to go back.
Pros: The location, in the heart of Lisbon, is great.
Cons: You get the worst of the two worlds, old and new.
The facilities are old, and oddly for a historical hotel, quite charmless. The rooms are dark, the bedding cheap, and the room furniture straight out of the seventies. Although "run-down" would be an exaggeration, the hotel seriously needs a face lift, a bit more comfort, and some taste in its decorations (throwing sloppily a hodge-podge of old-looking furniture doesn't really do it, nor holding on to carpets that haven't been changed in twenty years.) The amenities are next to non-existent (for example, the hotel does not have a restaurant.)
You obviously cannot expect a historical hotel to have the same level of comfort and the same amenities as a modern one. But would it be too much to ask that a five-star try?
You pay for five-star and you get a three-star.
Avenida Palace offers a fantastic location, putting you just a 5-minute walk from Rossio Square and Santa Justa Elevator. You can visit the fitness center for a workout or unwind with a drink at the bar/lounge. Rooms at this luxurious hotel offer flat-screen TVs, minibars, and room service.
Pros: Excellent and friendly staff. Nice sized indoor pool. Healthy but doable walk to scenic areas and metro.
Cons: Has the "modern" room set up with a glass door bathroom, so the other person is disturbed by the light shining through. Beware that you will be charged 2.5 euros for each coffee pod beyond the two offered! Gym is small but workable.
Pros: Beautiful palace built by a 19th Century cocoa importer made a Count by the King. Magnificent building, professional and friendly staff, excellent breakfast included, comfortable rooms and good (not great) fitness center, spa and pool.
Cons: Not as many drawers for clothes as would be ideal; no facecloths in bathroom (only towels), location is 1+ mile away from the main activities so cabs are required.
Pros: Every one of the staff were very professional, friendly, and helpful.
Cons: The air conditioning did not cool the room properly. Reported this and they did respond quickly and sent someone to fix. Still too warm though and we could not leave the terrace door open for cool air due to construction next door.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent. Served in comfortable surrounds with a very good range of food and good service.
Cons: The room we were allotted was a little small but relatively comfortable. In this regard we are completely ignoring the bathroom. The bath was blocked and we requested that this be un-blocked and cleaned 3 times. My wife then discovered dried blood spattered on the bathroom floor. As it was a marble floor the blood was difficult to see, but rubbing with a tissue soon exposed the problem. It was quite obvious that the floor had not been washed and cleaned thoroughly. After a bitter complaint to the service desk on our last night we were given another room. The Manager was not available to talk to us as it was the weekend!!

This 5-star hotel in Lisbon is close to the city's main monuments, such as the Tower of Belém, the Belém Cultural Centre, the Jerónimos Monastary, the MAAT –Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology and the Lisbon Convention Centre.
With two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), a spa and lush gardens complete with plants designated as "National Monuments", this is the perfect hotel for your stay.
Pros: The hotel was excellent. Having never been in the country before my group relied heavily on the advice of the staff for recommendations on places to go. The door man outside was the most helpful of all, he gave excellent recommendations on restaurants and nightclubs to visit. However the onsite facilities were great as well. There is a very nice lounge area on the bottom floor and because of this my group did not see a need to pay for the exclusive lounge on the top floor.
Cons: There really was nothing to not like about this hotel. The price was a little on the high side but I have spent up to $500 a night in other hotels that were not nearly as nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they check on you in your room several times throughout the morning to late afternoon. If you want to keep your visits from the staff to a minimum use the do not disturb sign. There visits are out of good intentions though, like refreshing the mini bar, fresh towels every morning, free bottled water, cleaning etc.
Pros: Driver to and from the airport, Diego, was one of the friendliest and helpful and knowledgeable people I met on my 2 week European vacation. The hotel was beautiful and staff from front desk to doorman to room service and spa were outstanding.
Cons: I forgot my swimsuit and couldn't use the spa relaxing pool area!

Pros: Staff was very good , Clean and as described the breakfast es super
Cons: The bad was n't big enough
Pros: Wonderful hotel! everyone was so friendly and the room was a good size. The front desk was so helpful with anything that you needed. Also, it was right in front of the Agenda train station, making it super convenient to come and go to the airport but I didn't even use the train station to travel around downtown Lisbon or Alfama as everything was within walking distance!
Pros: We liked the location and the Staff were very helpful. The staff did everything they said they would do and we appreciated their positivity and quick response concerning the bed..
Cons: The bathroom was too small for 2 people. The mattress had to be turned or replaced( not sure which one) because it had dips on both sides.
The restaurant was over priced. The one dinner we had was very good and the presentation was beautiful, however, for 2 vodka tonics with absolute vodka cost 34 euro and the lobster salad, while beautifully presented, was 19 euro for 2 small claws and some greens.
Pros: Overall great hotel
Cons: Non smoking room smelled like cigarettes

Pros: Beautiful location. High quality room furnishings. Very comfortable bed. Good food. Friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Nothing not to like.

Cons: The furnishings in the room were tired, especially the carpet.
Pros: The staff are spectacular -- multi-lingual, kind and helpful, generous with advice.
Cons: The location is very quiet and near the beautiful Eduardo VII park near the top of Avenida da Liberdade. There is a transportation hub nearby. However, there were few cafes, restaurants, and other amenities within walking distance.

Cons: Scent of smoke in hallways, expensive for wifi in room, expensive drinks, not allowed to take glassware to room
Pros: Location, size of room and comfort.
Cons: Price of breakfast.
Pros: I liked the location.
Cons: I showed the staff at 4 different places that te wifi was complmentry. The staff person kept insisiting that it is not. I let the manager know. Also, I made a mistake and reserved Dec 16-18, while I meant 14-16. Is there any chance of correcting it?
It's not normal anymore that we have to pay 15 euro per day for wifi.
Pros: Style, quietness.
Cons: There was some hair at the side of the bath the first day. That means cleaning could be better. But now it seems I'm searching a hair to complain.
Pros: The location was perfect. The beds and bathroom were wonderful!
Cons: We were disappointed that access tot the pool was not included.
Pros: Great rooms, friendly staff, good food.
Cons: Room had some ware... Wallpaper coming away from the wall and TV remote broken.

Pros: Nice modern room.
Cons: A bit crouded at the front desk at times.
Pros: Restaurant was excellent
Cons: Far from bus stops and main downtown
Pros: Excellent hotel in great area of Lisbon close to everything including the metro
Glas walls to the bathroom - remarkable but we liked it and the room appears more spacious. Hotel location is still good with Metro station directly behind.
Pros: Real 5* Luxury - incl. Service
Cons: The room carpet could have been better cleaned, food residues in the bathroom ??
Overall very good hotel.
Pros: Very nice rooms.
Cons: Location is somewhat away from the city center.

Pros: I'm 21 and I traveled with my 60 year old mother, and we were both blown away. Such a beautiful hotel. We stayed on the first floor, on the back side of the buiding, and we had a amazing terraces with a couch, 2 chairs, and an umbrella. The room itself was gorgeous. The shower basin was very shallow, so the bathroom floor often got pretty wet, but that was hardly an issue. The workout room was a bit of a joke, but we were on vacation, so it's not like we were going to workout anyways. The staff was absolutely delightful, and helped with everything we asked. Other reviewers complained about how dark the hotel was, but neither me nor my mother were bothered by it. I would recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone traveling to Lisbon. It was such a novelty with fun furniture and great decorations.

For a bite to eat, guests can check out A Confraria, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers garden views. A bar/lounge and a garden are other highlights, and rooms at this upscale hotel offer 24-hour room service and flat-screen TVs.
Pros: The staff and service was great. The location is excellent if you want to stay in an uber modern and spotlessly clean area of the city. I went for a walk once at midnight and felt completely safe. This hotel is within a block of the oceanarium, 2 blocks to the arena and metro train station, and a huge shopping mall complete with a supermarket. Everything in this area is modern and scrubbed clean. It is also a business area, surrounded by corporate buildings, as well as restaurants and other stores.
Cons: The entry area felt a little bit ostentatious and sterile. It was open about 2 or 3 stories high, white and clean. I felt a bit conspicuous every time I came and went. It seemed that there were a lot of business meetings and events happening there based on the traffic of business people in and out of the hotel.
The room was a bit cramped, though nicely furnished, modern and clean.
The elevators and breakfast buffet seemed taxed by the morning rush, and both mornings I stayed there they didn't have more than scraps in the scrambled egg trays.

For a bite to eat, guests can check out As Descobertas, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers garden views. Pros: The staff were very accommodating. The hotel rooms were clean, quiet and large by European standards.
Cons: Because we had a five month old were hoping for an very early check in. However the hotel was fully booked the night before so an early check in was not possible. They did their very best.
