We loved the location - - very easy to walk to the pedestrian street and to the river. Close to shopping and fun sights. Taxis were easy to get for further locations. Price was very nice. They even offer a 1/2 day which helped us as our train left at 10pm and we didn't want to check out at noon with little people. The rooms are very small, but serviceable. And clean. Not luxury - but very affordable and great location. Breakfast is fine - my kids found food they liked, which was very helpful! Didn't try the 'restaurant' for any other meals. They do not have connecting rooms. At all. They DO NOT exist - even though when we booked, the hotel said they would try to accommodate our request based on availability. Once there, they told us they do not have them. At all. So my husband and I had to sleep with each of the kids in different rooms. They were able to put us next to each other - the second night, but not the first as we checked in at 11pm. Other than that, we loved our stay.
well maintained, clean & friendly services. convenient location.
We spent 4 nights here. Rooms were excellent, clean, comfortable with everything in working order. Just slightly dated. Quiet hotel. Excellent housekeeping. English speaking staff, very professional and friendly. No issues with hotel bill. Cabs from hotel are plenty, getting a cab to take you back at a fair price is slightly more difficult as the fare is so low and not worth their effort during the Festival. Hotel is right on river, there is a very nice riverwalk that will take you down to Central Street (good 20 min walk). We took cab to the Ice Festival, didn't keep cab waiting. If you're slightly adventurous, try the walk back to hotel at nite, takes about 25 minutes. Dress very warmly as temperatures consistently -20 to 25 degrees celsius. Ice bar was very cool. Again, need to dress warmly or you won't be able to enjoy your drink. Very few restaurants nearby so plan accordingly.
Located in the heart of the city. Good clean small room. Not far from the airport. Modest breakfast.
The staff were friendly and professional and the rooms were nice. I enjoyed the spacious bathroom with the quality bath towels and the comfortable bed. I attempted to order room service several times but many of the items (especially desserts) listed on the menu were not available. However, the ones that were available were very good.
Having a supermarket nearby 1] Very poor service - called 3 times and took 45 mins for an extra cup for a visitor to my room; in another occassion, called twice and for 30 mins for a shoe shine service. 2] Poor manners, none of the staff had smile in their face. 3] Stayed 3 nights, only had bed turned down on the 3rd night. 4] The traffic at the front entrance was a mess. Allowed driver to get off the car to talk to friends and holding up all the cars at the back. I had to wait in the taxi for this person to get back to the car and drive away. When I complained to the concierge, he just ignored me. (NB: I complained to the duty manager who was nice and understanding)
It was close to a shopping centre, a golf course and in winter the golf course is converted into a small skii slope for beginners. For 5 star international standard my family and I were not very happy. The hotel room was not very clean and the cleaning staff did not do a good job on a daily basis. The room service food was also not very good and for the quality it was way over priced.
Your hotel was the usual standard I expect from Sofitel -- excellent. Is it possible to organise a shuttle bus to and from the airport?
