This is very simple. I understand that Hertz has rules and parameters that they operate in. When all of those are met the rental car experience should be smooth sailing. The Des Moines office was one of the worst places I’ve ever been for a rental car. I called customer care and and the representative told the gentleman at the desk to honor my reservation however he refused. I do not know him personally and I have never met him. I wasn’t rude. With all they said the guy at the desk still refused to rent me a car after two hours of going back-and-forth. Finally I was able to get my car. The context of this is that all flights were canceled and delayed out of the airport going to Chicago. The gentleman at the desk refused to let me rent a one-way rental to O’Hare airport on a debit card nowhere does it State that I can’t do that. I was well aware of the $500 hold and was OK with that. I had my own car insurance State Farm and everything should’ve been smooth. I even had a reservation. I used a third-party website kayak. I read all rules carefully. Nothing stated that I could not rent a one-way rental from one airport to another with the debit card. I hated the experience. It was embarrassing, strenuous and flat out wrong. The reason I didn’t call corporate or further pursue some satisfaction with this situation is because I wanted a cooling off period. I still feel wronged and am rather disgusted by the entire process.

No car after an 11 hour flight delay. Finally offered an older model Tesla which wouldn't hold a charge, trunk and door locks didn't work. Drop off was a nightmare. We were told we could drop off after hours in Newark. Key wouldn't fit so we left the car and had to FedEx the key to them despite the Hertz agent telling us to return the key in Manhattan (our destination,). No adjustment in price for delay or lack of car. Now they're claiming major damage to the car and trying to charge us extra. It has been the worst rental experience in 45 years of renting cars. Can't reach a person on the phone either. Their "customer service" is completely AI driven. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again.

Absolutely horrible. Multiple reservations made and canceled claiming cars were available when they actually weren't. Rude staff. Anonymous after-hours text canceled my reservation on short notice, then refused to refund my pre-paid amount. Had to spend several hours on phone grttinga refund. Will NEVER rent from them again. Canceling my Gold Membership with them

The reservation was made, I paid the money, I arrived early before my pick up time and they had NO CAR. This was a horrible experience and I was stuck with no car. I still have not received my refund from Hertz! I called them and they required me to submit a form which I did, and I’m still waiting. I will never do this again.

Hertz said they were overbooked and didn’t provide the car. When I asked about cancellation, they said not to worry, I won’t be charged. Now I have been charged on my card.

My experience was not good. Despite calling the afternoon of my pickup date to confirm that my car would be held and ready for pickup, when I arrived in Sarasota, there was not even an agent at the desk. Then when I finally was able to work with an agent, they did not have the car I rented. They had the option of a huge truck or a tiny car. This was not conducive to the activities of our trip, but I didn’t have the option of waiting or coming back a different day. Thankfully at least I got a car as there were over 10 people behind me and there were only 2 cars left to rent so other people didn’t even get a car. But because I got a huge truck the expense of gas was outrageous and parking was impossible.

I booked a hybrid car. They gave me an suv saying it was an upgrade. It’s not an upgrade when you want a hybrid. It’s a downgrade. I probably spent an extra $50 on gas. Going to reach out to Hertz corporate about it.
