Staff was very friendly. Room was nice and quiet Typical of area, parking was expensive, though valets were wonderful and very fast.
The design of the lobby and rooms are beautiful. The front of house staff and restaurant team are beyond friendly. I loved the location - I just wish it had been a bit closer to the heart of Beverly Hills. The pool area was a bit disappointing. Since it was not rooftop I wish it had been a bit more lush. Also wish there was regular wait service out there.
I like the style of this hotel overall, I think they can updated the hallways as well, it doesn't match the restaurant and lobby feel. The bathroom was a little yucky. I would describe the atmosphere in room as "dry", felt like I had to wake up several times to drink water. The pool area is small, for families I think that is perfect but to lounge around it doesn't feel right.
I like the convenience of the location and the friendliness of the staff. No major dislikes.
My husband and I took a quick trip to LA, one of our planned honeymoons but also to maintain our flight status on the airline we travel. We decided to look at some of the Kayak reviews online, and came across the Hotel Palomar. We enjoy boutique hotels and the price was right so we decided to give it a try. Staff: Wesley, a front desk agent, was friendly and welcoming. In fact, he prepared a hand written note and sent up a bottle of wine, cheese, and chocolate covered strawberries for our honeymoon celebration. It was a very nice touch. In fact, we did not encounter ANY rude, mediocre, or unhelpful hotel employee during our entire stay, including employees at the restaurant, vallets, or front desk. Excellent! Location: prime for us. The activities we had planned were are located in the westwood area. Its a beautiful neighborhood, also located near the freeway entrance. Added bonuses: 1) A delicious coffe and tea hour in the morning with complimentary newspaper, 2) Fruit infused water provided all day in the lobby, 3) very fun FREE cocktail hour (two types of wine). There was even a DJ.4) You can request to have a live gold fish keep you company in your room during your stay. Of course we took advantage of this. We even named our loaner pet. So SWEET! 5) They have a list of items that are provided free of charge at your request: curling iron, razors, combs, deodrant, humidifier. They even provide a yoga mat.
The only positive feature of this hotel is the free wine. Pool sucks. No self parking despite the fact that they have a 3-4 story parking garage in the hotel. Decor is heinous. They put us in a handicap room for no reason when they had plenty of capacity. Subpar location and an extremely boring area, unless you 90 years old and named Ethel.
The towels felt like sandpaper. The weren't soft...
Location was okay, right near highway Didn't notify us they were under renovation because we booked through booking.com not directly through the hotel (and thank goodness they are renovating the rooms look TIRED), reserved a king deluxe and they oversold our room type and weren't able to honor our reservation the first night. I was offered a partial refund and a change to a new room the second night but it made for an unpleasant first night stay. While under renovation there is no restaurant in the hotel and room service was over priced and lousy. $50 for pancakes and eggs for 2 that tasted so blah we weren't interested in finishing. I have never written a review before but this place was like a Venus trap, they lure you in online then we were there we saw too late the hotel for what it really was. Buyer beware.
Have always been a huge Kimpton fan. This one is right on Wilshire, convenient to Westwood/UCLA and Century City. It's a redo of an older property. Nicely finished but nothing to write home about. Did not have a chance to try the bar or the restaurant. Room service prices were reasonable. Seems to appeal to a younger, hip crowd. All that said it's a very solid, cost competitive choice if you need to stay in this part of town. We'll be back.
very swish...worth staying at this hotel ..we would do it again distance to centre of la can take about an hour ..traffic is very heavy along willshire drive..best take the motorways..tip...take a tom tom sat nav
Room was clean and had more than adequate facilities and location was very good.
The location, the pool area, the restaurant. Stairs, noise, extra charge for internet
the old hollywood decor/ambiance
The location, the swiming pool, the rooms by the swiming pool. Some rooms are quite to the street - they may be noisy.
no room service available after 9:30 pm.
This hotel was great with the exception of the bedroom that faced Willshire Blvd. The noise was pretty big making it hard to sleep.Otherwise the place is really great.
It was very quaint. The restaurant was nice and quiet, relaxing - good food. The staff was very nice and friendly. We met some very nice people that were staying at the hotel. It was a great experience.
I've stayed here quite a few times. Centrally located to shopping, and fun. Priced right for being on outskirts of Bev hills friendly staff. Nice restaurant. Great pool. Beautiful decor Nothing
Very comfortable, clean, great service and nice pool. Slightly remote, although it hard to something central in LA. 15min walk from Rodeo Drive and all the stars, nice restaurants and starbucks!!!
The location is great.
Construction while I was there. Difficult to sleep. Complained, got an I'm sorry. No notice before checking in. Would've stayed elsewhere
Meant to book W hotel in Hollywood. Made a mistakeand booked the other hotel.in Westwood. My husband was ill. Needed to check into the W Hollywood. Was unable to cancel the W in Westwood, even tho both managers tried. The unresolavable problem was booking through a third party. So I paid for two expensive rooms and only used one.
The location was perfect for use since we wanted to spend most of our time near Rodeo Drive , 5 minute drive from the hotel. Pool are was nice and clean, it has an indoor and outdoor bar. I will only be staying here from now on in Cali! I didn't dislike anything foturately :)
The hotel is fine if they charge 1/3 of the price. The hotel is definitely over-priced and the deco is modern but old. Bathroom is bad. I will not recommend this hotel to those who can afford high price but looking for a five-star hotel to stay.
Friendly staff, upscale rooms. Expensive! Auto - checkout printer did not work.
Close to UCLA and free parking.
The room was very good, excellent bed, good facilities (microwave, fridge, coffee machine) The facilities for breakfast are minimum.
It was very convenient for our purposes, both for a seminar at UCLA and for an appointment at UCLA Medical Center. Although they seem to have done a nice job in freshening the decor, the doors are an ugly white whitewash quality, and look extremely unfinished.
Great location: in the heart of Westwood and an easy walk to the UCLA campus. Great price for the location. Also, I arrived several hours before check-in, and was able to park my car in the lot. This made son's move-in near UCLA campus much simpler. Simple breakfast was fine; ate mine on room patio with coffee and enjoyed the LA sunshine.
Staff was very polite. There was free private parking. Our room was very spacious with two beds and special rest aria, bath and shower, very clean and comfortable. A lot of restaurants, fast food stores, supermarkets and pharmacies are available in the area. Good choice if you travel by car. Location is not bad but very far from popular touristic places. You hardly stay there if you don’t have a car.
the location was excellent for shopping, the beach, restaurants and the hospital which was our reason for coming to Los Angeles. the bathroom being situated where it is. If you are in bed you have to be sure that no one is using the bathroom before you open the door.
Housekeep is not nice.
The concierge is nice and helpful. They provide area map with restaurant. The internet access is good none
next to UCLA, great position to visit the city by car. we had free parking and free internet wi-fi. breakfast was very average. we had a room with a balcony and we could hear very loud noises from the street..
location, room is spacious and comfortable
Location , free parking , free Internet and good price Bathroom was dirty
Close to UCLA and in the heart of Westwood Village. Very quiet and clean.
Wonderful staff. Lovely boutique hotel
Hilgard has the best value for money in the UCLA neighborhood..
Desk staff were most cordial and informative and dhellpful.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I found the bed excessively soft.
Way too expensive for the quality of the room. Probably not coming back here again. Bathroom very small, no elevator, poor breakfast, no atmosphere.
Location definitely budget
The location was excellent. The staff twas friendly and tried to please guests. The room smelled of bleach. There was a high degree of mold in the bathroom. Many of the furnishings were worn and/or in need of repair. The door was difficult to open.
Clean rooms, updated, nice area No bathrom door, no soak tub as advertised
Good location with easy access to freeway and all the places you want to visit in Central LA. Friendly staff, pretty clean rooms and a safe neighborhood. Gonna have a hard time beating this place for this rate. Just book it. Cant complain.
Nice upgraded king room instead of queen with all the luxury. Breakfast was good as well.. Overall nice place.. Internet wifi dint work with my macbook, still there was a computer at the reception which helped me out also has a printer connected to it and its free of charge
Location, fair price. My room is next to the laundry room, so I can hear the washing/drying machines spinning during the day.,My room is next to the Laundry room, so I can hear the washing machine spinning all the time/
Breakfast was okay. Room was comfortable. Decent Price. Check in time 60 minutes. Not hot water. Too noisy.
The desk help and cleaning staff were all great. The hotel was clean but in need of some remodeling, especially in the bathrooms and outdoor walkways. The paint was chipping, wallpaper was peeling, etc.
Really clean. Great internet. Close to main roadways (convenient). Close to major sites (UCLA, Santa Monica, etc.) Close to main roadways (noise; I personally don't mind, but I'd imagine someone else might). Staff (Kevin lied to me about being OK to park on the street; the next day I got a parking ticket).
