It was brightly lit when we got back at night. It had continental breakfast (good hot chocolate). Workers were friendly and about at night. It still had room keys - actual keys, not the card type. There was a window between the front desk and guests (similar to a bank teller window).
The owners are really friendly and the rooms were clean and cool. For the price of this place, I felt like I scored big time. Great value, great room, great experience. 10/10 would stay here again.

Staff was friendly and accommodating, room was clean and bathroom was better than expected. Easy to walk to Koreatown from motel. Bed was like a slab of concrete and pillows were fluffy but squished down into paper thin pillows with no support.
The room had a Nice firm bed with a large tv and cable. The plumbing fixtures seemed to be new and nice quality and plenty of hot water. The room was clean and it had a mini fridge and microwave. The manager was nice and very attentive, great location The room had a slight musty smell like a smoker had been in there, room was a little small and the bathroom fan and a/c unit were a little noisy. The Door had old style key locks not self locking and with no saftey chain or bar and didn't self close.

The Friendship Motor Inn surpassed our expectations. It was extremely clean. The Manager was great, and extremely intentional with his services. He called to ask if we wanted breakfast before closing. The area was quiet. Great Mattress. Would Recommend!!. If I had one complaint it was their super hard soap.
Best hotel for the money in LA, period. Can't say enough good things about it. We stay in LA a lot and good, inexpensive hotels are hard to find. Staff is super friendly and the room was well kept. This place is a definiately stay again hotel.

only the location I will neither stay there again nor recomend this place to anyone
easy to access public transportation, comfort stay
Good parking place,convient location
I liked the option for 3 beds in one room. The room was kinda funky. Soso with cleanliness. The bathroom looked like someone had a fight in there and broke the toilet and tp holder.
Th hotel was fine... nothing fancy for the quoted 89.00 a night but not for an extra 30.00 was not worth it we could have paid 10.00 more and staid at the embassy suits you had to pay for ice local calls were 10.00 to open phone line .50 a minute. there was not much hotel service or friendliness My son asked what time the pool closed he was told now he was disappointed well people were in there for another 45min to 1hr he could have been in and out and been happy but we didn't go
Clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was actually ok. Cable was good. Wifi Codes had to be printed to you every 24 hours. Got annoying. And then the wifi wouldn't load or do anything at peak times.
It was nice and peaceful!
The room was large and well set up for comfort. The desk staff was courteous and helpful. My room (106) was next to the microwave, so people were talking and beeping outside my door at all hours of the night. The door to the room was not hung well, so there were large gaps for critters to enter at their will and that kept the room chilly. The light over the sofa was nonfunctioning for our entire four-night stay, even when I asked for a new light bulb. The free breakfast, although appreciated, was a scant offering, and could have been extended until 10:00; at 8:30 there was never any milk left, so our only options were doughnuts and juice. People in the parking lot were obnoxious, honking for the other guests and playing music so loudly that the room actually vibrated.
Our room had 3 beds. Sinks were outside of bathroom, convenient. Microwave available downstairs. Modern furnishings. A/C was great. Free wifi. Pool. Breakfast. Room was gross. Moldy ceilings in bathroom, you can smell it. After walking on the carpet, our feet were black. There were stains on our sheets and there may have been bed bugs, my friend had bites. Only able to have one car per room. You have to pay for ice. A little too far from Hollywood blvd area. Really hard to see oncoming traffic when pulling out of the driveway.
I loved the price of the hotel room! My girlfriend and I split the room for a concert we were attending in la, and the location/price was perfect! Loved the parking situation, so convenient :) The room was not furnished (shampoo, towels, etc.) and seemed a wee bit on the dingy side. but other than that it was great!
The location is a nice central location to several sights in the area. The price is inviting. Arrived at 3pm and despite the 4pm checkin time we were allowed to check in. Most discouraging thing was the bed was rock hard. I was simply using the hotel for sleeping and showering. We spent a lot of time out seeing sights. The shower was very short and had low water pressure. It took along time to get warm water. The shower curtain was bent and it would continually slide open while showering. We never ate at the breakfast. There was one type of cereal and donuts available.
Nothing Everything was just horrible the rooms were dirty the blankets had holes the towels were dirty also so was the bathroom not enough soap or shampoo breakfast was nasty .. really bad experience for me and my family!!
Clean sheets. Coffee and continental breakfast. Room did not have any bad smell. Pick up to airport in morning every half hour. Hot water was hot. Close to airport. Airport van at pickup from airport took 1 hour 15 minutes. The door chain was broken in the room. Overall maintenance was poor.
It was very convenient because it was close to the airport. However, if you're new in town and visiting the city, I would pick somewhere closer to where the action is. Like near Santa Monica. It was pretty clean, and the staff was very polite. They let us keep our bags in the office until check in, and let us keep them there after check out until our flight. We didn't use the pool, but it looked decent. We had a great newly renovated room as well, so it was nice. The rooms were a bit damp. Possibly some humidity or mildew issues. We had to keep the fan constantly going. The continental breakfast was very cheap. Not much to choose from. Just some cereal and yogurt. Lots of flies all around the premise. A few in the room, but mostly outside the door and where the breakfast was located. Hair dryer was broken
Owner has done a really good job of cleaning up and modernizing an old hotel/motel Drain in shower didn't quite keep up. Not a big desl
Great location to the airport with a shuttle service. It was exactly what we were looking for in price/location for a quick sleep before a flight.
Clean, convenient location to both car rentals and airportand great shuttle service to LAX.
Location Hard to find room ,stuck back in the construction area only 2 rooms stuck back in a alley way. Doors of both rooms wide open and the lights didn't work, the floor was covered in water, this was fixed but took time. I've stayed here alot but never had a room like this. I had a reservation too. I don't think they use this room for guests regularly.
Comfortable for an overnight stay between flights.
Overall good facilities for price Loud airline noise Room could have been cleaner
Hard non-carpeted floors, recently repainted, clean throughout. Bathroom fixtures such as showers felt dated. Toilet flushing was loud.
clean, close to airport, friendly people, good internet no proximity to restaurants except BK
Good location, with free parking.
Very friendly/professional staff. Quiet location. Room was clean. Great working AC unit. Free breakfast. 5 minutes from Hollywood Blvd. I always choose to stay here when I visit LA. Highly recommend! No iron/ironing board in room. Not enough parking spaces. That's about it.
in the first room we found little bugs in the beds after the 1st night. Could change room, 2nd one was okay but our confidence was gone. Old room was given to tourists the same day. When did they put some chemicals to kill the insects???
We are a family and really enjoyed our stay at the HCI. The staff was everytime helpful and friendly. The location is close to all attraction of Hollywood. What my wife liked most, was the arrangement of roses around the pool, a small oasis. we were totally satisfied and would come back to stay there.
This motel offers a good ratio value / price. Very well located (not far from Hollywood main points of interest). Free parking for our car. Excellent croissants for breakfast.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location a block from hollywood blvd and the underground station. Very spacious room with nice floors, tv etc. Towels chlorine smell rathwr than fresh detergent
I liked the location and the friendliness of the staff. The room and the bathroom were outdated, but it wasn't a real problem, everything worked fine.
Very helpful staff and great location. Quick access to Universal Studio, Hollywood walk of fame, Koda and Chinese theatre, and just 5 mi from LA downtown. Also, free parking is a bonus.
large room, cozy beds, sofa also! internet connection was too bad
Location, next to Hollywood boulevard. Roses round the pool. Facility. The description of the hotel in booking was false. There are no facilities, that were mentioned in the description. There are no any plate, fork, pot or anything of the kind to cook, only plastic glasses, though there is a microwave oven.
The service are excellence. Mr Paco is the most helpful. Na
The excellent proximity to Hollywood tourist sites and very close to metro train station. Friendliness and help of staff.
Good location close to Venice and Santa Monica. Easy to get anywhere in LA from here. Rooms are clean and nice. Stingy with the towels. You must give them the dirty towels before they give you the new ones. You only get the same sizes you gave back. It was pulling teeth to get 3 large towels for 2 people.
Newly renovated, they did a very nice job
Great budget motel for the price. Clean and safe but not fancy. Will stay there again.
It's very quaint charming hotel. Ran by a husband and wife that were very pleasant and accommodating. The room was very clean and had a 42' flat screen with direct tv. It looks like they are in the process of remodeling. The walls had spackle as though they are in the process of painting. There were no shampoos in the bathroom, hangers in the closet, or dishes in the kitchen. Def not a three star
The room itself was a great size, comfortable. The two staff I met were very cold. Not enough lighting in the room.
Clean and roomy. Not bad for the $$$. I'll stay here again!
I liked location and generally it is cute hotel to stay. I would like the toilet and bath facilities to be cleaner. Some hair were found there when we arrived. Not so nice. Breakfast was good. But may be some variations in meal would be great.
Rooms and facilities were clean and well-kept. The pool at the center of the hotel looked inviting. Front desk staff was incredibly unfriendly (but that's just one person). The location of the room on a very busy and loud street was unfortunate - no sleep without earplugs, and you had to crank up the volume on the TV all the way just to hear over the street noise. I assume the rooms on the other side of the building are not as loud.
Great location, the staff has been real friendly and helpful and the rooms are good.
The location was convenient to where I needed to go for the time I was there. There was nothing in the room to tell me about wifi, and I just never bothered to ask at the desk. Parking is very tight, but free. The motel is in a bad part of town. Several cars of homeless people camping out on the side street below my window. Lots of street noise and in the morning a s-load of trash strew about on the sidewalk. I just kept my shutters closed so I did not have to see. Rooms need new furniture, light fixtures and paint. Really looks run down. Pool area surrounded by bright orange fencing makes it appear to be a construction zone. Worth less than $100 a night for sure.
room was clean, basic, staff was OK but not informative. street noise at all hours of the day
Very helpful reception staff. Extremely reasonable for the centre of LA. Not in the best part of Sunset Boulevard, although it's fairly close (20 minutes walk) to the main tourist attractions. Breakfast is served in the lobby with nowhere to sit.
It was a very fine hotel for a few days of travel. The first room we were given had fresh stains on the mattress. When we called down, we were accused of "touching stuff." But were then given a nicer room, despite the absence of an apology.
Room was comfortable and clean, people were nice and helpful. Location was good if someone wants to to see Hollywood. The bathroom was rather tiny and the AC noisy
The Sahara is in an excellent location, offered many amenities and represented great value for money.
Staff was very friendly. Location is good.
Very central to get to places of interest ie Hollywood Boulevard A bit of traffic noise as the hotel is on a busy road
Our room was given to someone else but at least we still got a room with a King size bed for the same price. neighborhood around the hotel was dilapidated
One of the best things is that this hotel is very close to the metro. The room was very good also. no.
The location was nice and it was the only reason why we even considered this restaurant. Misleading website! If we knew what we know now about this place we wouldn't have made reservation even if it's at the best location. There is nothing to like about the stay.
The full breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Walking distance to shopping and tourist attractions. You can also catch the metro right across the street. Could hear sirens several times through the night. Not the best area of town but we felt safe.
customer service was friendly Beds were uncomfortable. Bathroom mediocre
Very poor breakfast.
proximity to Metro Rail station to get to the tourist parts of Hollywood Blvd and very easy to get to Universal Studios. There is a breakfast included and free parking and wifi Towels are small and very snug parking in back, would not recommend parking an SUV, and there is no elevator and breakfast is a bit lacking
Close to everything, easy to find, very friendly & helpful staff Clean but shabby, no water pressure/bad showerheads, very very firm beds were uncomfortable, a/c worked well but very loud
The price and location are great! Free parking was offered and there is good Wi-Fi Connection in the rooms for free. The breakfast has really improved from my last stay. Ground floor rooms are quite not sound proof, and noises from the outside could be somewhat disturbing.
Near to the Hollywood center and Metro Station
The complimentary breakfast was very good & the reception are helpful.
Very friendly staff, good breakfast and the coolest sign in Hollywood!!
Nothing Everything big disappointment
only the location is good. the rooms and even the lobby smells. it looks like this hotel has never been renovated/refurbished since the 70's , i cant believe they still use those kinds of toilet bowls and sinks, its like in motels in old movies where people get robbed.
i liked the recepcionist and tv restroom and bed was ok
Location, Price, and Kind Service. 1) I booked 2 queens and they didn't have anymore left so I was left with 1 King 2) The TV and Refrigerator AC socket was un-usable. 3) The windows were dirty and unkept 4) The bathroom looked disgusting.
Nothing The wall is dirty with non-professional paint, the facility is terriblly old and ugly, the bathroom is dirty and haven't been updated for centuries, sheet might not be washed or changed with some obvious stains....
it was close to the venue that i was trying to visit and i could park right next to my room the staff was very unfriendly at checkout
Good locaion. poorly painted / maintained. Says breakfast included but saw nothing. would recommend for location.
The room looked dirty, the Wifi in the room didn't work, staff didn't always understand us very well and didn't make us feel welcome.
Good location Just 2 words bed bugs!!!!!! Im all bitten
The location is beneficial. I would have liked the room to be clean.
much cheaper than the other alternatives, location in the city center good, owner was helpful with directing towards local sites of interest, parking within the walls allowed me to feel my car was safe looked a little run-down, pool looked undesireable to swim in
larger space in the room as comparing to other Super 8. Free breakfast includes made-yourself waffle (some other Super 8 don't) the neighoring area wasn't as bad as we thought (downtown LA) bit smell in the room, but manageable.
nearby chinatown, It's easy to find chinese food. It's very near street and nosey.
Happy with value, location, cleanliness and comfort. Also with inclusions such as fridge, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine etc. Breakfast was OK. The desk staff could have made a better effort at friendliness and helpfulness. The neighbourhood seemed a bit low class left us feeling a bit uncomfortable.
I liked the location of the Super 8. We went to a Dodger game. No.
front desk was helpful. room was clean.
Reasonable prices for quality stay
Very close to Dodger stadium. Easy walk to the game and a neighborhood bar.
close to the area we needed to be in
The price is quite reasonable for the condition of the room. The room was strongly scented, which gave me a bad headache every time I got back.
Nothing They gave us the choice of a room above a club and the front desk person told me "it's going to be loud. You won't sleep." Or a smoking twin room. The twin beds aren't even true twins. They're tiny. The room is so small that only one person can walk to the bathroom, one person must be in a bed in order for the other to walk. I was stunned at how small the room was. They wouldn't cooperate when I told them I had a big audition the next day and my choice was between not sleeping or sleeping in a tiny room and breathing the harsh smoking room air. Instead I paid more for the hilton the same night because it was that bad. Never again.
The hotel is near The Broad, MOCA, Disney Hall, downtown and Little Tokyo. It's comfortable and reasonably priced. The small size of the rooms makes it feel urban and right for a stay in LA. The lobby needs an update.
Location was excellent FAXed hotel a month before stay to request a quiet, non-smoking room. Was put on third floor but noise and vibration from nightclub below was unreal. Thankfully it all died down at ~ 2am but it made for an unpleasant stay and a poor night's sleep.
Victor the valet was very friendly and helpful. Other than that the room was tiny and plain but it worked as a place to crash for the night. Surprised that I had to pay for parking. TV stand was broken but made do. Bed needs to be replaced soon. You can tell it's been used a lot.
It's cheap and centrally located. It's a a crash pad. Small stuffy rooms. Windows don't open.
i didnt like my stay!i have made a reservation 2months ago.first when i have arrived.they didnt give me the correct room.it was reseved for an other!ervrything was bad.i dont advice people!
Close to the courthouse. No place to get food at this hotel.
Hotel would not issue refund even though I had not spent the night not left the room in worse condition than when I had entered. Five minute wait for elevator and no stairs. Hotel situated on top of night club with no sound proofing. Cramped.
Probably the cheapest option next to Disney Hall and other Grand Avenue cultural attractions. The hotel is really basic. Don't stay if you like nice amenities or want to use the room for anything but sleeping.
The hotel itself is a bit dated and shows signs of age, but it does seem like they're trying to fix things up. Our room was small and the furniture was a bit rinky-dink, but very clean and very inviting despite limited space. We wanted a place to crash after a day of exploring the city and for the price, it suited our needs just fine. The staff we interacted with during our stay was incredibly polite. I've seen a lot of complaints in reviews, but honestly, I feel like this was one of the nicer places I've been for the price. The club below was quite noisy and I could feel the vibration from the fourth floor, but it was tolerable for both me and my 16 year old who can pretty much sleep through anything. You may want to avoid this one if you are a light sleeper.
Very basic hotel, but for the area, jt was an economical place to stay. It was clean, staff was friendly, and location was very good. As a grad student traveling for a conference 1/2 mile away, it fit the bill pefectly. It was a very basic hotel (pay for wifi). Few amenities nearby, but for the price, its hard to complain.
Price was decent for a 2-Star hotel. It's good for a crash pad which we used for. Great valet, always attentive. Hallway and small stuffy room.
It was very cheap and the pictures were honest, the maid cleaned daily and replenished toiletries, the staff were pleasant and helpful and let us into our room as soon as it was ready, room has fridge which was very useful, king room is big with table and chairs, good transport links and lots of shops and fast food restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Good hotel for budget travellers. Noisy residents in numerous rooms late at night and early in the morning, traffic noise and sirens heard from room, the surrounding area has lots of homeless people, bathroom towels are very small, no pool, breakfast or room safety box available-but we knew this when booking
I like the proximity to down town Los Angeles and the convenience of taking the Metro bus. It is close to restaurants.
Giant spider in room. I am scared of spiders...but didnt hold it against this place, rest was clean. I just hate spiders! So clean is good, spider sounds bad...but good...was clean. Pay for ice...I paid over 100$ for a night, and no free ice...which is cold water...I guess I'm spoiled from living in vegas where hotels/casinos give a lot while you stay there. Seemed expensive. TV was fuzzy for 100$.
Good location. About 20 min work or 5 stops bus ride to the convention center. Subway, McDonalds, El Pollo Lico, a small market, a coin laundary are near-by. Two Mexican and Two Korean restaurants are also nearby. Easy to find it. I got about fifteen bug bites. It may be flea, bed-bug, or roach. I cannot find what the exact bug is. Anyway, I cannot recommend this hotel. Ah, anothe thing. there is no coffee machine or pot or microwave in the room. You have no tools at all to make warm water.
Well-lit parking lot. Blankets had cigarette burn holes (non-smoking room) Curtain had cigarette burn holes (non-smoking room) Doors and walls were dirty. Carpet was frayed in large areas.
The free parking was probably the most useful thing for us as we were travelling with a car.
good price, kind staff. air conditioner, bed.
