Terrible service, no complementary wifi, no way to make calls from the hotel, the staff aren't interested in solving problems
The location worked well for us. We felt safe a few blocks off the main beach The Hotel Reception overcharged my credit card by a substantial amount. When I asked and showed them the price on my "Kayak Trips" on my phone they still claimed I was being charged the correct rate. When I accessed my account at their business center, they finally conceded, cancelled the wrong amount, and charged correctly. It was an hour wasted with a man treating me as if I were stupid. The female clerk was helpful. The problem was corrected. Everything else was very good, but the initial dealing with the front desk staff was extremely poor.
I could hear chairs moving on both sides of my room on my floor level as well as above and below me starting at 6:30 AM!! the noise didn't stop with that! the telephones in the hallway rang at 7AM and I could hear the staff using their walkie-talkies around that time. No respect for people who wish to sleep in!!
Location on new YEAR's eve The standard of the room was unacceptable... But the hotel are under restoration and renewing... Which means that our room might be comfortable in the future.
We went on the city day tour and saw the sights. However the weather was misty so we didn't really see Christ the Redeemer too clearly. Trying to cross the road from the hotel to the beach.
Other than location, nothing else. There are too many things I did not like about Rio Othon Palace. Here's just a few: 1) They cheat you by playing with words. "Guaranteed Ocean View" room will get you a room on the side of the building with a distant view of the ocean 2) Absolutely rude front-desk staff 3) Confirmed to by e-mail that they would put an extra bed in the room but refused to do so during check-in 4) "Heated Pool" is anything but heated. 5) Said they exchange Canadian dollars but refused to during check-out time. 6) Hotel is very old, falling apart, and badly in need of renovation. Overall, a 2-star hotel at a 5-star price. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone and will use every forum to warn other tourists about how they cheat you.
Copacabana is not the best place to stay in Rio, but apart from that, the hotel was a good choice Very long lines at times for check-in and information.
Great view from breakfast room / poolside. Rooftop staff nice. Good location. Front staff unhelpful on arrival - could not find reservation, and would not help by allowing us to find it online. Gave upgrade, though debatable whether the room was any better than the one booked. View not great for 'superior elite' room. Room internet not free (not as advertised). Mosquitos constant in lobby area, where you need to be for wifi. Staff generally aloof, not pleasant or welcoming. Breakfast a chaotic experience - first day better.

nice staff, good hotel, good swimming pool, handy to the beach, near a metro station. Excellent breakfast on a night time the area was a bit dark and dingy. Expereinced traveller and felt that you had to keep your wits about you. Nice place to stay on a night you can always get a taxi.
Location & rooms I booked the hotel for two reasons - Room w Panoramic View and great pool. When I reached the hotel, my room did not have Panoramic view and the hotel pool was under construction. I should have been informed about these two things while booking.

Excellent central air conditioning in the rooms. Never before in my life, I’ve go to wake at night to decrease air power. In Rio de Janeiro it is extremely necessary! Copacabana hotel always appear as if it is old fashion. No news, no Big deal.

location is perfect, just beside copacabana, near the autorental street, a bit dangerous at night, be carefull!! the hotel staff has lost some clothes and did not refund nor apologise with us.. this is not a compain it's an important info for other turists.
Excellent value; the presidential suite was really nice. I loved the stylish, fairly modern but comfortable style of decoration. The bathroom with jacuzzi/sauna was top-notch and the bedroom was perfect. My only complaint is that some of the furniture in the room was worn--if it had been in closer to new condition, the suite would have been perfect.

Scarcly furnished room, really not a 4 star hotel, more like a European 2-3 star. Scummy carpet in the hallways and breakfast room, tile floors, bathroom OK, and very loud room due to the fact that the windows are old single pane facing forward to the Copacabana side. Nice view though ;) see above

The location right next to the beach is perfect, and the view from the top terrace bar at the 16th floor is absoluty amazing When I checked in, they tried to charged a higher amount then the rate I got at booking.com. I was there with a friend, and they gave me some crap about the reservation only was for one person, although it was for two people. After showing them the receipt where it said clearly that it was booked for two people, I got the right price.

This hotel is uber-glam! The building is stunning and the rooms are both large and elegant. The people watching here is primo. In addition, the staff (especially the concierges) are some of the best I have ever worked with. I would highly recommend splurging on this hotel to make your stay in Rio unforgettable.
Location is fantastic, unique experience to stay at a hotel which forms part of the Brazilian history. Luxury but with good taste. To wake up, open the windows and see all of Copacabana is incredible!

Awesome location across from the beach. The rooms and facilities are excellent. The staff are very helpful .. The pool area is in shade most of the day. However the water is slightly heated. We ate at Wee which was disappointing. The food and service were just OK. I ordered Pad Thai. Having just returned from Thailand - this was a poor substitute.

The hotel is conveniently located with amazing views over Copacabana beach from the rooftop. The booking.com rate made it excellent value for money compared to published rates. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was a bit run down - I have stayed here 3 times in the last 6 years and nothing has been done to touch up the rooms - room in serious need of a paint job; bed linen had holes in it, the bedspreads had stains on them - not what I would expect of a 5-star hotel. The rug in the lounge area at the lobby needs a serious cleaning job! Breakfast (optional) rather expensive.
The location is the best you could ask in Rio. The suite was the most amazing I have seen with two doors to a huge balcony where you can have your morning coffee overseeing Copacabana beach.
Location, pool, view, restaurant. Reception clerks are not kind even rude. I think they don't know the word " sorry ". I was confused who is a customer or a clerk. And even they lied to me. (the parking lot was free but not anymore. - This website is also needed to change the information.) I called them to confirm the reservation and parking lot. At that time they said, the parking lot is free but we paid r$20 per day. They said it's paid from 6 months ago. I think maybe I called ghost. They don't remember our conversation on the phone. It doesn't matter to pay for parking lot but they gave me wrong information, lied to me and never say sorry. I want to ask, is this 5 star hotel?, Are they trained about manner?
I like the friendly staff and the great location of the hotel. The rooftop pool was also a nice touch. The rooms were very old and will need renovations.
The only things that I believe they value the money you pay at Pestana are the excellent service, the friendly staff and the perfect location. Make sure you get an ocean view room or better choose another hotel. The hotel can`t classified as a five stars hotel, very old deteriorated rooms and corridors, 80th time furniture, awful illumination and appalling facilities. the hotel needs an overall urgent renovations.
I liked the location, the staff and the lobby/restaurant/bar. The rooms are very dated. Downstairs is very nice so when you see the bedroom is disappointing.

Very poor hotel for a five star. The room are very old style, not at all comfortable. wireless very expensive. Breakfast very poor also for a 5* hotel. Artificial orange juice in a country like Brasil!.... There is a taxi service associated with the hotel that practice prices very high compared with normal taxis. The price changes depending on the day and worker on the entrance of the hotel, etc....

Wonderfully helpful registration staff. They were helpful in finding restaurants and booking trips. We didn't speak the language and needed assistance. The rooms were clean functional and unique. It would be helpful to have a clock in the room but that is not really a complaint.

Loved the location. Our accommodations were comfortable. Breakfast buffet was delicious! Felt safe in the hotel and surroundings. Would prefer queen beds but we managed okay on the double beds. In the states, we are not accustomed to paying extra for a third person. Usually we can put 4 in a room with no extra fees.

This is an excellent hotel, with very beautiful views over the landscape of copacabana ( we had a view to the beach). The location is perfect, the staff members are friendly and as an online customer you can also benefit from added value services e.g. free internet, late check out, which we appreciated a lot (particularly the no-fee late check out!) This is not so much related to the hotel but when leaving and in case you are looking for a taxi to the airport, say no to the help by the doorman or any taxidriver -vandriver waiting outside of the hotel. In two occassions (including one that i personally experienced) they tried to ripp us off, making a huge u-turn (claiming that there were problems with the police) and tried to ask for 75 reals. You should not pay (by no means) no more than 50 reals for this distance (40smthg average). ( we had a fight with the taxi driver, kept his license plates etc--available upon request--). You are better off, to stop a yellow cab on the road yourselfs, and you will pay the decent. legal price.
The Hotel was as exccellent location.The rooms were a bit small for 2 people.The beds were clean but the over covers were old The reception is too old and dull not at all inspiring or making the guest feel at ease.May be it needs newer furniture and some more positive energy.The hotel bathrooms are too old and not very encouraging.The TV was fizzy and not easy to watch some channels.

The localization, the nearest of the beach
Fairly good location. I cannot really say anything much more that is positive about this hotel. Like most hotels on the sea front in Rio it is grossly overpriced. The beds were poor quality and uncomfortable. The internet service did not work and they charged me US$2.30 for a cup of tea! Stayed at this hotel 21 years ago -it has not improved with time. By the way, there was NO partial sea view unless you put your head 5 ft out of the window.
The breakfast buffet was excellent with a very wide variety of fresh fruit and the view from the beach-front rooms was amazing. The front desk was understaffed and even the most simple request required that we stay in line for 10 minutes. But once you got there the staff was courteous and helpful.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast was good. The location was good for my business event The room was on an internal lightwell and was very dark. The decor was very dated but there were too few ceiling lights. There were building works going on in the lightwell and this caused some disturbance.

The hotel food was excellent - especially the restaurant. The staff was very helpful and nothing too much trouble. The location was good. I booked a sea view room and a semi deluxe room. When I checked in I double checked the room type with reception who confirmed what I had booked. When we were taken to our room it overlooked a brick wall and no sea view. We were not very happy and asked for a change of room immediately as this is not acceptable. I have read on holiday blogs that this is a regular occurance with this hotel. I would have checked out straight away had the room not been changed.
I stayed at the refurbished area of the hotel: Double room with partial sea view (It was not necessary, the sea is a few meters from the hotel). Comfortable facilities. Reception staff and room service were very attentive and professional. Breakfast very good. Thel place where coffee is served is too small, incompatible with the size of the hotel.In despite of this, it was good

Nice little beach in the back of the hotel We had a cab driver over charge us and asked for help from the security in front of the hotel. We got an eye roll, much correction in language use so that by the time they heard the story the cab driver had left....and then they said wow they over charged you-you shouldn't have paid! The door actually broke to our room...the wind blew it shut hard, another room was not ready for about 10 hours for us to move into. They kept saying within the hour....It took over two hours to get a mix up in rooms straitened out when we arrived. We spent a lot of time resolving issue's, instead of relaxing and enjoying our vacation. Beds are uncomfortable too. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Location of hotel was good, as away from Ipanema Beach and the crowds, had a small beach directly below hotel and a shuttle bus into town Hotel old 60's style hideous architecture, tiling/grouting in bathroom appalling, lack of coffee shop and attractive restaurant (apart from buffet restaurant near pool, but don't want to eat there every night) in evening, lighting in bar and hotel restaurant appalling at night - depressing. Very small pizza restaurant near pool, but always full as not nearly enough tables - very old fashioned - could renovate into lovely larger seating area as lots of room surrounding restaurant. Hotel overpriced considering all these drawbacks, staff pleasant in reception but many waiters offhand - not up to normal Sheraton high standards
The beach was private, clean and beautiful...a nice break from the crowded beaches of Ipanema or Copacabana. The driver service at the hotel was our best experience with knowledgeable drivers who were courteous and friendly. The concierge service was also helpful and friendly. The hotel is terribly dated and run down. The prices are absolutely astronomical and do no warrant such mark ups. A simple buffet breakfast with very poor quality food and choices cost $26 US per person. Drinks are $9 for the traditional Caperienha where outside the hotel you pay a maximum of $5. The front desk staff at check in was overwhelmed due to the holiday season, but they were not only unfriendly, they were slow and inefficient. It took us over two hours to check in and once we finally got our rooms, they did not honor our prepaid reservation. This was eventually corrected, but the frustration was not worth it.
Close to the city, spa was very good, staff was friendly. Renovation, at times noise and blokking a bit of the view.
10 minute walk to Leblon Rooms were dated, not worth what we paid. Spa was disgustingly dirty and service was not very good. Shuttle bus only goes every 2 or so hours and you need to book in for the return trip home (which when you're on holiday you don't really want to have to think about and plan your day around!). Cab back is around 10USD each time so it adds up when you want to go in during the day, come back and get ready and go in again in the night. Last shuttle home is at 10pm which in Brazil is much too early.

Excellent location, reasonable price, good choice of breakfast included in the price. Twe view of Copacabana Beach from the roof top podium was unbeleavable! We had a De-Luxe room and the view of Copacabana Beach & Sugerloaf mountain was excellent.Free internet, helpfull staff, most speak good English - how is your second language? Murky swimming pool water and mattresses are warn out and need changing. Two single beds pushed together do not make a good double bed... especially when you are feeling romantic :-)
I enjoyed being so close to Copacabana beach and the view from the top of the hotel. The rooms are TINY, the pool is nasty (and also small) and too expensive.
The location was fantastic! The staff was quite friendly and they resolved all our problems quickly. The internet was not working in our room, they changed it in the same day. Great breakfast. The hotel has a taxi service which is not the same as the city taxi service and it is much more expensive. To go to the airoport with their service we payed double than would be using the street taxi.
Rooms were of high stndard, freindly staff and the pool affords an amazing view. At prices that won't destroy your wallet. Superb for reaching Copacabana or Ipanema The business centre had aome Internet terminla which were impossibly slow. I wasted time on these, got nothing done and was still charded.
The location, in between Copacabana and Ipanema, was excellent. The view from the roof was about as good as any in Rio and the service--from the front desk to the wait staff at breakfast--was impeccable. We would definitely stay at the Orla the next time we are in Rio. Nothing.
Great location. The staff were very courteous and the hotel was very clean. Breakfast with many choices including local fruits. The restaurant had great option and the price was fair. Great value. The Standard rooms are bit small and the pool was small too.
Breakfast is really nice. Paying for using internet. The roof terrasse is small, specially the pool and the service there for drinking something there was not available also towels etc.
The location of the hotel on the beachfront was great. The water pressure in the shower was amazing. The floor was not clean and this affected the overall impression of the hotel in total.

Excellent location meant that Copacabana beach was just across the road the cleaner and more relaxed Ipanema beach was only a short stroll as was the General Osario metro stop. Fantastic view from rooftop pool. Reception staff very helpful and the pool barman knew how to mix a good capirinha ! Breakfast room was far too small with tables squashed together and some mornings we had to queue, very irritating!

Pluses for the hotel include: Proximity to the beach, hotel room view, inclusive breakfast. Items that need improvement on include: Customer service, maintenance of building and AC, softer beds to please the general public, customer service, and customer service. Do not count on calling front desk or any issues you may have, you will get transferred from dept to dept until you're once again taking to the original person you called. They call themselves a "luxury hotel" which is far from reality.
roof top veiws was nice.great location. We arrived at the hotel at three oclock pm and where told our room wouldnt to free for half and hour , i had made the reservation requesting a luxurious double room with double bed, found the room to be quite standand small and instead it had too single beds not double,and it took staff an hour to resolve the situation ,by pulling the bed togeather instead of giving us a double "luxurious" (not) room. After such a the long jouney,we where a little dissapoited.
Basic hotel on Copacabana Beach
The location is excellent. The breakfast buffet is fair. With the exception of the afternoon staff, the reception staff was rude and not willing to help us with directions to move around. On the contrary, the bell boys were very nice and helpful. The internet connection was not included on the (already high) price of the room. They charge about 25 $ per day. On top of that, I could never get connected from the room.

Needed a place for one night and the hotel was sufficient for that: Good breakfast.
Rooms in backside are so small. Just suites and delux rooms are front side and see Atlantic. We dissapointed about our rooms and we couldn't change rooms. We couldn't open windows back side of the hotel, it doesn't seem save. Air condition didn't work so we couldn't sleep because of hot and airless. Staffs are so rude and not helpfull. We reservated a shuttle to go to airport and learned the price but they arranged a small shuttle for us and tried to give 2 shuttles and take more money. We had to arranged taxies on the way and we could catch the flight hardly.
The staff are welcoming and friendly, you feel like you are in your home Too many people checking in and out at the reception, I didn't like it, but it is unavoidable.
Because of the problem as below, they gave us a glorious suite on the 15th floor overlooking the sea for the 3 days and made the bathroom work for me (in a wheelchair) as best they could. Very upset the hotel did not recognise our disabled oceanfront room as booked and confirmed through you. A disabled room became available on the 2nd day but we refused it as it looked on to a brick wall.
I would like to stress the staff, specially Miss Larissa at the Reception (very attentive and competent) and Miss Mari (Supervisor) both of them are very capable professionals. Hotel is absolutely the best pick by Ipanema-Leblon beaches-seaside in Rio de Janeiro. Safety (My vault was violated).

I did not like it!! The hotel is completely overpriced! Reduce the price so it's consistent with the facilities and service you offer! The hotel, the breakfast, the minibar, the laudry is completely overpriced. You tried to cheat my on the breakfast by charging 20 BRL extra on an already expensive breakfast. When I asked why the guy said it was because of the cheese. So I asked him to remove it and come back with the cheese that was included in the price. And guess what - he came back with exactly the same cheese and a bill that was reduced from 85 BRL to 65 BRL! The water in the roomcost 19 BRL! My company pays the bills for me but I still care about the cost. The only luxurious thing about Caesar Park is the prices. Bad bed, stained carpets and noisy ariconditioning is not luxury.

Large, clean rooms. Well appointed and extremely convenient to both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches with a short walk. Easy access to metro and transport and plenty or restaurants around. Wonderful price for the area and more quiet than most as no clubs nextdoor. Walls a little thin and easy to hear guests especially when they come back from the clubs with partners!

Location was great They were painting on my floor all morning - loud, and it smelled really bad. No warning whatsoever. When I confronted staff the woman started screaming at me. I'm sorry, but you don't treat guests that way. She refused to help me or cooperate, and was so unbelievably disrespectful. Also- window didn't lock (unsafe) loud rooms And they get kickbacks from tour and taxi people. Kept trying to sell me over priced tours, hang gliding and private taxis that were all more expensive than the ones I had booked. Very forceful about it ... So weird.

Breakfast was good (although that's kind of standard in Brazil). Rooms clean. I don't know if it's because I'm gay, or young, or was part of a mixed-race couple, but I was interrogated by staff every time I came in or out. I didn't see anyone else getting the third degree (or best case scenario dirty looks) from staff. Beyond being treated poorly, there just wasn't anything to this hotel aside from the *decent* location. The pool wasn't heated, the steam room was nonexistent, the bar was closed, the wifi was terrible, and forget about amenities like a gym. I stayed in cheaper places later in my trip, and really the only difference is the address. This location was good but not worth the price.

The location is great as very close to Ipanema and Arprodoar beaches and a tad further to Copa. Our room was spacious and clean. A good price for Rio. Some of the breakfast items were not very good. Was best to stick to fruit and even then there were flies all around. Some of the staff were quite rude.
The water that came out of the shower was either freezing cold, or boiling hot- it would change by itself during a shower without reason, so I burned myself a few times.

Great location. Friendly staff need continuing renovation. Interest service can be spotty. Plumbing problems.
