Location is great - if you're going to Rio, you definitely want to spend a few nights in Lapa to enjoy the live music and big clubs, as well as the historic attractions in close proximity. Staff was friendly. Wifi throughout the whole building (very rare in Rio, even in expensive accommodations).
Dirty walls, bugs and roaches in room, old, broken furniture, old blankets and pillows, barely functioning fan, WiFi works less than 20% of the time. Hotel needs lots of care to be a basic hostel/hotel: currently more of a last resource with a high price (even during Canraval).
Compared to the Misti in Copacabana, this is a palace. It is newer. The room was for 8 people and had private bathroom. It was clean. The air conditioner is turned on during the night only, so during the day the room is really hot. There is no fan to turn on and the windows do not open widely. The staff was ok. Not as friendly and lively as in the other Misti. The hostels have the same nightly activities. The tours are more expensive in this Misti. The location is fantastic, only one block away from the beach and another block away from a metro station. The only thing is that there are no supermarkets close by, so you have to buy expensive water bottles (4 reales compared to 1.69 in the supermarket). I would stay again in this one.
They are in a good position, the staff is good and efficient in arranging off site trip, bbq, and nights off. Good breakfast. We were there 6 days, and they didn't change linen and towels by themselves, even if when it's necessary... You have to ask for it and it's possible they can't do it because they have no many towels and linen...so crazy...They accept payments only in cash, so bring enough money!
