The swimming pool, the view and the restaurant and its friendly wait staff. I liked that we could leave our bags without any hassle. The cabs came quickly. The noise from the renovations in the afternoon! I didn't like the lack of a sewing kit in the room and the lack of a newspaper at the door although I got these by asking at reception.
It was central, well known brand and useful as an overnight stay, and had a secure carpark. On the top of the Hotel half the neon lights spelling out the Hotel's name were broken, so the name of the Hotel was unrecognisable when driving to it at night.
We really enjoyed the spa and pool on the roof. The room and the view were both excelent. The housekeepers did a wonderful job and it was a pleasure to come back to our room in a clean and well presented state. Thought it was very strange to find 1 bottle of water and 1 apple left for us as complimentry when there were 2 of us staying in the room.
Close to Spring Hill and the river We'd booked two rooms, one for my husband and myself, the other for our adult daughter. We asked if the rooms were different, if one was better for a couple, and told there was no difference. In fact, one had a much larger bathroom. The staff should have known this and advised us accordingly.
great staff especially nicola and very comfortable. the restaurant was very good too.
Modern, clean, friendly service. Compact room but still spacious enough to function. Beautiful view and the lovely Roma St Parklands across the road. If you want to walk to the city expect a decent uphill walk on the way back.
Friendly guests and staff The mildew on the grouting in the bathroom
Very little. It was poor value for money and I would not recommend it to anyone. There was no free parking for hotel guests. The hotel is a long way from the CBD and surrounded by steep hills. The rates are high but the facilities are poor. The room was serviced but no fresh towels were provided. The interior of the rooms are pleasant enough but the corridors and elevators are dated and shabby.
Nothing Rooms overpriced, cleanliness poor, in room facilities poor especially internet connections, Restaurant overrated and expensive, car parking fees charged when free days on public holidays, Breakfast over priced and poor quality (eg no fresh eggs), Electrical items in room defective.
good position very helpfull staff small rooms , hotel; needs general update
The weekend deal was very good with the first class buffet breakfast and the complimentary parking as part of the deal The folding door into the bathroom was poor and ours did not shut properly.
Foxtel on the TV, the bed was comfortable. The internet connection fee is a rip off, to be charged for internet connection when you're not in your room working is appalling. Why can't the hotel charge when in use only? I am aware it's outsourced by an IT consultancy but nevertheless I'm sure the Holiday Inn make money on it. The other point is if i knew there was a rail station right on the hotel I would not have chosen the hotel. Found it difficult to sleep as a result.
Staff were uniformly really friendly and helpful - upgraded us following a cancelled flight. Breakfast great - omelettes to order. Beds and rooms comfy and clean with nice extras. Spas on 18 floor fabulous and hard to leave.
The convenient location
position, breakfast. doona to hot, would like a top sheet
proximity to suncorp stadium. Rate was cheap given it was origin night.
I liked the relaxation Food was expensive
We were welcomed by a nice and pleasant receptionsit, the room was large and in good condition. There was a bit of noise from the railway station so next time I will specifiy a room on the road side.
Excellent, efficent, helpful staff
Centrally located in the heart of Brisbane CBD. Public transport and other travel facilities at the front door. Hotel across the road had cheap good quality food. Very few 'modern' facilities. Parking as a guest is a rort paying an extra $28 overnight.
the central location was excellent for a city break - the hotel was very quiet and the room was a good size.
convenience to medical facilities on wickham terrace car parking facilities very hard to manouvre
The saltwater pool. The street was quite loud and we felt it was overpriced compared to other places we have stayed. We also felt that the hotel could use a few more updates(popcorn ceiling).
The room was fantstic. Very modern and very clean.
The size of the room. The sheets were crisp and the pillows and mattress perfect. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel lifts use a key card - but new arrivals were not told this - and we saw many frustrated people unable to use the lifts - front of house staff should explain this to guests.
Very comfortable and excellent location for what we wanted. The room service wasn't up to standard.
good location, friendly and helpful staff Cleanliness of bathroom was poor, mouldy tiles and mould around glass door of shower
The "Urben perks" package is excellent value-for-money for families in this current climate. The hotel is ideally situated near the cbd and is easily accessible to Southbank. No.
Proximity to Staff Christmas Party - 3 floors above! Plus - My husband and I stayed there exactly 29 years ago on the night we were married Check in staff - 3 male - all very officious / not one smile out of three of them / Very unpleasant people/ They had no customer service skills/ Not a good first impression of your Hotel
Friendly staff. Great roof top bar, Comfy bed The car park is vey tight and difficult to manouvre around without 100% concentration
The staff were superb. The bed wonderful. The buffet breakfeast was very good.
Room was quiet, Tv was on the wrong screen ratio and menu was not accessible. Outside of building needs major facelift. Was not happy with the extra $16 car parking charge
Clean rooms, nice bar and good breakfast The drinks in the bar are very expensive and they closed at 10.00pm on a Saturday night with guests in the bar, we had to leave and go somewhere else
Clean, staff were great, close to where I needed to be Raised lip of floor into the bathroom, couldn't use the balconey, lift floors were uneven
I t was handy to the hospital. The room had nice modern furnishings the breakfast was excellent, compliments to the cheerful chef ooops the cleaner forgot to empty the bin in the bathroom from previous guests.
Staying across from the park and being close to Roma St station were positives. The toilets for reception are not very nice for a motel and particularly for first impressions if you need to go once you arrive from the airport, which is possible.
Staff were extremely helpful. Very convenient position near the city Carpet was dirty and dull looking.
The staff at the reception were excellent. Cleaning of the room was all right but could have been better.
The modern plasma TV. We thought we had booked a twin room with one double bed and a fold down sofa bed,but instead we got a roll a way bed and not the sofa bed. When we inquired about this the girl at reception told us that twin room on the booking was only a request by us.So then she informs us we have to pay $30 more per night for the roll a way bed. This room was also advertised as having cable TV on some sites, which it didn't.
Location and great room facilities - washing machine and tumble dryer came in very handy! Loved the balcony too and the comfy couch! The unclear air con (tricky to work out) and the noise during the early hours of the morning.
Close to where I needed to be and very little else available, price was not a factor The shower was poor, the soap and its holder kept falling off, water was set on very hot, could scald someone and could save power by being turned down a touch.
Location was ideal Roma St station opposite, Pub with excellant meals almost next door. Car parkingavailable and walkway to Cultural Centre 1 block away.Staff were very accommodating esp.Max & Erin Unable to secure refurbished room.Outlook poor and very noisy as we could'nt get the aircon to work effectively we needed to open doors & windows
Location, facilities, cleanliness, frendly staff
The location aross the road from Roma street transit station transport at your doorstep was a big plus, The hotel just up the road for great meals and just a stones throw from Brisbane City central and the casino The only thing that comes to mind is the fact that they do not replace the coffee and sugar that you may use during your stay or change the towels
Complete set of facilities, convenient location for transit connections, clean and lots of space to relax Nothing!
The location of the appartment was excellent, just across from the Brisbane Transit Centre. The room was not a refurbished room as booked, weeks ago, and being on the 3rd floor the noise from council workers at 5am in the morning was terrible.
Location, easy walk to down town The breakfast and evening meals were very good We had to leave and come home
Very Central for shopping and Medical appointments
convenient location to city limited onsite parking
Very convenient location for central Brisbane, handy to railway station, buses, Queen St mall, river etc. Nice comfortable room with large full length windows along one entire wall, opening to small balcony.
convenience no food
Location near Brisbane CBD
The staff was great and made sure that you felt welcomed. The hotel was clean and was comfortable. It was close to the main shopping area. It was everything that I wanted.
Everything was in order and to be expected.
It had the feel of an old style hotel, small and personal, rather than huge and impersonal. The balcony and view of the Tower Mill across the road That we didn't have time to stay longer!
As we had a function to attend, we only needed a place to sleep and we found this quite adequate and good money for City Hotel
