Pros: Fantastic staff! Kudos to all staff and management team for excellent service. We stayed a few hotels in Yangon and this is by far best experience. Hotel is not best nor spotless but staff and experience make us neglect all minor flaw. Especially i like to thank for the group assigned on. 2nd March,3rd March,4th March and 5th March night duty. They are very considerate and accommodate. Thanks all.
Cons: Towers are not white enough

The big pagoda is just a few minutes walk away and can be looked at from the roof top terrace to heart's content. The staff is incredibly nice and attentive, breakfast is delicious. A big thumbs up for Merchant Art!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Foods are good, lots of choices.
Cons: Price is comparatively high, when comparing to the other hotels nearby.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is great, people are great. Restaurant has a great menu, the quality of the food depends on the day. One day it was great, the next not so good.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was great, the add was incredibly comfortable. The swimming pool was fantastic and very relaxing. The other facilities there available for people were great, fitness centre, spas and 4 different restaurants with a variety of foods available.
Cons: fabulous hospitality. The staff could not do enough for us. They were wonderful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed, linen and food
Cons: The room did not have a good view of the university campus with lots of greenery opposite which would have been great.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Conveniently positioned not far from the airport and close enough for most of the tourist attractions within 20-30 mins taxi ride.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, rooms, gym, pool, ambience all excellent
9.1 Excellent
Cons: Tv was about to fall to the ground. It looks dangerous.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staffs were really kind and always tried their best to help us. I don’t know much about the location because we mostly took the taxi to everywhere, but I guess it’s fine because it only took 10-15 min to Shwedagon Pagoda from the hotel. Stayed at 14th floor, and the view from the room was fantastic, we could see the Shwedagon Pagoda from far away, and Yangon city which is full of the trees. The room is sparkling clean and I liked their amenities.
Cons: We stayed in the executive room so we had access to the executive lounge. They offered tea for 12-4pm, happy hour(alcohol beverages and some mini buffet which is enough to be light dinner snack) for 5-7pm and the breakfast for 6:30-10:30am. But the food was not so great, which we expected more than this. Wonder if just paid breakfast at 6th floor was better because pasta and the burger of the ground floor restaurant was really good.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good fitness center and spa
Cons: They were fumigating in the reception and nobody advise me, when I got to my room I had a strange taste all night in my mouth due to the spray, manager called to apologize but they should advise the clients
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Amazing breakfast
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic to experience local life. The room was large and was very well laid out with a couch and table, the electrical outlets were pretty helpful for an American and seemed universal for other countries as well. The AC worked very well and kept the room very cool. They provided great amenities like robe, slippers, toothbrush, shampoo, body wash, cotton buds, shower cap, shaver, and comb. It also had a hair dryer. The bed was comfortable. The restaurant was excellent with great food and service, the lobby was small but tolerable.
Cons: 1 elevator is a major hassle, waiting and going up and down, steps to climb before the elevator is not at all good. The bedroom smelled like the bathroom the entire stay, despite reporting, there was nothing they could do. I kept the bathroom closed so it wouldn't stench. The front desk staff sometimes could be very abrupt with you and be outright rude, at other times very friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very very friendly staff, nice spa, good meeting room. Good with dietary needs. Nice downtown area.
Cons: Elevator takes a while. But nice to take the stairs.

Cons: Thanks to Patrick for his kindness ! He is working in the restaurant at the Lobby.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Gym and reception area and pool was ok.
Cons: Need huge improvement and all facilities pretty tired. Smelly carpet with staines , dust in the room. Dogs burking in the night and early morning. Air conditioner very loud and not doing anything. Can’t even open windows due the mosquitos as they locked the balcony window. They should definitely consider lowering the stars for 3.5 star max. Far away from even 4stars. Overpriced and needs refurbishment.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Nice room good wifi clean friendly staff excellent food convenient location nice view from my room (of the Shwedagon Pagoda)
Cons: inadequate gym facilities dining room very crowded at breakfast time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect! Brilliant hotel and pool. The best hotel breakfast we have ever had! Comfy high quality bed and mattress. Staff were very friendly and helpful without going over board. Fantastic hotel that I would be thrilled to stay in again. There aren't many hotels of this quality left.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was as expected. They even let us check in earlier and allow to use the pool meanwhile.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The quality of the hotel
Cons: Normally we like more low key accommodations but it was great because my wife and I were sick and we needed to recover quickly.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: I liked that service at the hotel. Once you entered, you were greeted immediately and taken care of. I was able to check in early and get my room earlier than check in time. The staff was very attentive and you could see that they tried their very best (especially the housekeeping team).
Cons: The pool bathrooms. Because I had a late flight and wanted to freshen up prior to my flight, I had access to the pool / gym bathrooms to freshen up and it did not live up to my expectation as it felt like it was literally a bathroom / shower in a hut. It needs to be regularly cleaned by the hotel.

Cons: I liked the hotel and I think the price is competitive. The only complains I have are that the bathroom is a bit awkward and that the restaurant of the hotel is so so.
7.7 Good
Pros: Pagoda view room was large, clean, big windows, comfortable. Windowless room was also clean. Staff were really nice and helpful.

Pros: Location is really excellent. Next to Myanmar Plaza shopping mall where you can get all the things you need. Hard Rock cafe is there as well.

The 17m outdoor pool is perfect for those who wish to enjoy swimming in the sun. Hotel is 1 mi from Shwedagon Pagoda, 1.2 mi from Sule Pagoda and 1.1 mi from Yangon City Hall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very modern and sleek and we had an amazing view of Shwedagon Pagoda from our window. At night, it is lit up and looks like an orange flame against the dark sky. We were also very happy with the food and drinks on the premises. You MUST try the pizza. I ordered the vegetarian (twice) and it was probably the best pizza I have ever had. Also the staff there were excellent. They were extremely helpful and gave us excellent attention and information. We ran out of the local currency (which you need for taxi ride back to the airport) and were able to exchange a small amount ($5 USD) at the front counter. The gym in the basement was very nice.
Cons: It's not very easy to walk around outside the hotel so you'll be reliant on taxi to get to downtown area or famous sites. Cost is low but there is much traffic in Yangon so ride may be longer than expected.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all very friendly and helpful, always welcoming us with a smile! The room was beautiful, just as the described. Would definitely stay here again.

Pros: big and professionel hotel (a bit oldschool in a nice way), very clean and huge pool with fresh towels, green surroundings (view on zoo and pagoda), friendly staff, extremly comfy beds, spacious rooms, free water refill

The Strand Yangon - Yangon - Building
11
9.0 Excellent (756 reviews)
RM 1,025+
Overview Reviews
In the heart of Yangon, The Strand Yangon is within a 5-minute drive of Sule Pagoda and Bogyoke Market. Featured amenities include limo/town car service, a computer station, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Planning an event in Yangon? This hotel has 6480 square feet (602 square meters) of space consisting of conference space and a meeting room. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free valet parking is available onsite.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Attention to detail was not there...this is supposed to be a five star hotel...the sink in my bathroom was blocked, the phone broken, an empty vase graced the bathroom. No advertised pictures of old Burma on blank walls. Large but impersonal room. So called butter (s) did nothing but collect and hand out room key. I had to tell them each time I came back my room number. Food was hit and miss. I went to the New Year dinner at the restaurant. All in all very very disappointing. I have stayed at Raffles, E&O and many other classics but this is one not to be repeated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The thing that sets this hotel apart from other 5 star hotels is the fact that the staff are truly excellent (I would say 6 stars for the staff if it were possible). Because the hotel is relatively small, I think it allows for a much more personalised touch. The facilities (pool, spa) of the hotel were also very good, as was the a la carte breakfast/ restaurant.
Cons: Not that I didn't like it, but if you are considering staying here you should accept the fact that the hotel is >100yrs old and as such its angle is 'luxury mixed with character' rather than 'pure, modern luxury' (such as might be found at a modern 5 star hotel). I think having character makes it much more interesting... It was nice to sit in the breakfast lounge and think about who might have been sitting in this exact room having their breakfast 100 years ago...!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The colonial heritage. Renovated but not overrenovated. Certainly one of the best colonial hotel in the world. Should I travel to Yangon again I certainly will choose The Strand. .
Cons: Nix, nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the charm and attention to detail.
Cons: The breakfast service was very disappointing— slow and lacked following up (in regards to all beverages).
6.0 Good
Pros: The renovations have been tastefully completed and the swimming pool area is blissful.
Cons: Unfortunately The Strand didn't live up to the hype and expectations. Little things let it down. The sink in the bathroom was blocked. The desk telephone was broken. No flowers I'm the room, just an empty vase. No pictures on the walls. New Year's dinner at the restaurant a big disappointment. I have stayed at Raffles and the R&O, unfortunately The Strand lags behind. As a side note the butler (s) on the first floor never knew my name or room number and I had to ask for my key every time. Sad when there were on three rooms occupied on the floor...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing hotel! Gorgeous building, great location and fantastic staff. We couldn’t have asked for a better hotel during our stay in Yangon. The Strand will be nearly impossible to top.
Cons: N/A
8.0 Excellent
Pros: They upgraded suite for me.
Cons: We had dinner at The Strand Restaurant, but it's was the most expensive and the worst restaurant I stayed in Myanmar.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Old world charm
Cons: Not worth the price
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very sleek, simple design but very elegant and a nod to the colonial days. The service is absolutely exceptional, with friendly staff catering to all needs. We had the most relaxing time there, relaxing by the pool (which was spacious, and despite being two weeks before Christmas, was pretty much empty, though I doubt it ever gets full). We were extremely fortunate to have amazing weather, and had the luxury of being upgraded to a higher standard room (extra 5m^2), and a 24hr butler service. All the small touches were well done, like a night treat with the turn-down service. The location is also great, with sights of Yangon on the doorstep and a plethora of amazing restaurants within walking distance.
Cons: The cooking of breakfast wasn't quite on point. Whilst very decadent (the lobster dishes were yummy, but maybe too rich for breakfast), soft boiled eggs were overdone, and the deep fried yolk also, but understandably difficult to balance, and this is being pernickety to find flaws. (they in fact brought out another deep fried yolk, which was runny). I have also been in bigger showers too. We also had heard great things about their happy hour, (drinks were good, and the amuse bouches were a nice touch), but sadly it was quiet, and they did allow smoking indoors, which was sad.

6.0 Good
Pros: Great location. Separate shower from toilet and really nice rain head with good pressure. Good finishes and style. Clean. Good food in restaurant.
Cons: Small room - bed and no space for stuff or walking around, no room service though restaurant on first floor, concierges were somewhat helpful but not too knowledgeable.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Location
Cons: Toilet
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic. The hotel provides a great spread of fruit, cereals, savory dishes, and pastries, in addition to items to order off the menu including eggs and especially delicious fluffy pancakes.
Cons: The main flaw with this hotel, for business travelers, is the inability to order food from the restaurant downstairs and have it delivered to the rooms. Though you can eat downstairs, they won't deliver to the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Modern clean and comfortable room. Good breakfast selection.

Cons: Very noisy. I was staying on 18th floor and could hear music and voices from one side and someone snoring from the other. I couldn't get any good rest at night
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The caring staff when I was ill
6.7 Good
Pros: Guest rooms are huge with fantastic views, comfortable bed. Clean.
Cons: We booked this property because of the gym and pool, but were unable to use either due to a full crew taking over. The property neglected to tell us about this and suggested we use the facilities when filming was complete - which would be after we had checked out. Communication here is not great at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is new, rooms are spacious, staff is super friendly and willing to help, gym has a number of features. Location wise it could be better, but is is only a 10 minutes ride from the centre. Nothing to complain about
Cons: -
5.0 Okay
Pros: 21st floor restaurant was very nice with spectacle view.
Cons: Some staffs especially at reception are not well trained and rude. They are grumpy face and too slow for check in process. I have used this hotel for 3 times so far, and every time very staffs are like this treat for me. Rooms are clean but one thing i don't like is they don't have hot water. Breakfast was awesome.
7.0 Good
Pros: Central location, good gym, excellent breakfast
Cons: Food menu at the pool bar could include a few more vegetarian options. A simple drinking water dispenser instead of all the plastic bottles would be nice.

10.0 Excellent

Cons: There was nothing not to like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the breakfast very much. Lots of choices though more geared towards western style. Fortunately, there are Asian noodles, porridge, rice, with Indian and Burmese food which suits the appetite of our senior family members. Their rooms are very huge and full of amenities. Very clean and comfortable beds, huge TV sets, spacious toilet. We wanted to visit their pool but held back in view of the COVID-19. But do see that they are very clean and nice.
Cons: Car parking area is a bit run down, but this is expected in many other facilities where car park is not given any priority in terms of service and maintenance.

The breakfast was great and it served by buffet with diversification food.

9.7 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms well maintained with good range of toiletries. Friday and Saturday night seafood buffet with lobster, crab and free flow of beer and soft drink good value at USD35.
Cons: Apart from seafood buffet food prices on the high side. Everything charged in USD. Room charge changes daily and although we thought we had secured an inclusive rate for the days we were there the final bill was USD100 extra.

Cons: Air con sometimes gets warm during the night while sleeping.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staffs are kind and polite.
Cons: I could not find wifi.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff were friendly and very helpful
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and wifi was good.
Cons: It would be nice if the rooms are without carpet , especially for people with dust and pollen allergies.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very courteous. The property was very neat and clean and adequately equipped. Room service was good. The location from the airport is some distance but the connectivity by taxis is ok. Local markets are on both sides of the hotel property. It is also quite close to Shwedagon Pagoda.
Cons: Breakfast choice for travelers from Europe and South Asia could have been much better. The Spa was somewhat over priced and services need a slight improvement by way of better trained masseurs though they were very courteous. What is definitely needed is better foreign exchange facilities within the hotel every day and round the clock. while the USD is easily accepted, other currencies such as the Sterling and Euro's are not so welcome. There is also no display of exchange rates for buying or selling. Information on places of interest in Yangon needs improvement.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The videspread reception Tlhe lobbybar
Cons: Everything was fine❗️
5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was well furnished
Cons: Air at the lobby hall was disgusting. They used very bad aerosol with bad chemicals that you breath in. Can not believe that the management of this hotel is so irresponsible and careless when it comes to guests and employees health.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A little bit of luxury to end our trip. Excellent choice for breakfast and helpful staff.

7.9 Good
Pros: Very nice and helpful staff.
Cons: Room has a bit smell of carpet.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The attraction that we had was the fact that it was a boat , that was the only thing we linked
Cons: The hotel was musty, unclean , poorly managed . The hotel rooms were dull with the feeling of gloom. The breakfast buffet was awful very stale food and horrible selection . At night we had people try to enter the room not once but twice and when we informed the reception they acted lost . The hotel needs a complete change of management. Very unhappy with our stay and should be simply a no no for anyone looking for a comfortable stay

Cons: Room musty smelling ..carpets aged. Long walk to reception from loading ramp.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all friendly and efficient, value for your money, the location was peaceful and also accessible to downtown. Great food as well!
