Cons: Small hallways unideal for multiple people and luggage, staff seemed to be there for themselves not guests, loud arrogant and when i wanted to be alone and in quiet they continued to shout late at night as well toilets were blocked showers dirty and the time i did bring food into cooked the microwave didn’t work panini maker was dirty kettle full of limescale, beds missing metal surrounds, uncomfortable mattress but do offer duvets and sheets , often found myself keeping away from the place till late as i could get away with after a few days as it became unbearable to be around there with the staff

Pros: Superb place and highly recommended for hostel stays, very clean, well-located near railway station, great comfortable common spaces and kitchen, and friendly staff
Cons: I had nomads on other beds in my 4-seater room, they had their stuff spread around all over the room floor.. barely any space to move around. There should be some arrangement (table, shelves) for keeping luggage in the rooms

Pros: I like it. The place it's perfect. Just I stay for 1 night

Pros: The bedroom was an amazing size, honestly confused why it was so big. Plugs and lockers next to the bed. Clean and numerous showers/bathrooms. Location is great - five minute walk and you're in the centre of Oxford. Staff were friendly.
Cons: Nothing really stands out about this place as bad. Everything was very reasonable. If I had to say one thing, the locker was on the smaller side - I could fit my small backpack or messenger bag in not both. Certainly cant stick a 'backpackers backpack' in there. When I was there the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. Staff came in about two minutes later saying it was fine. They close the self-serve kitchen at night so it cant of been a guest cooking. No idea what that was about - only stayed one night so cant say if its a regular issue.

Pros: Room decor was getting a bit tired in our area of the hotel. Decor was quite dark, black and grey..didn't fully realise the how dark the room was when I booked it. Pros: Centrally located and unique building. All staff I had contact with were extremely helpful. Room upgrade was a lovely surprise (thank you!).
Cons: Parking on site very limited, you have to pre-book. The building is lit up, so some light infiltration in room overnight. Noise from corridors as these are quite wide it tends to echo in the rooms (noise from guests using them).

Pros: Very comfortable and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
Cons:
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location.
Cons: Parking - despite being actually parked in front of the hotel I was told that there would be no room for me there. This was made all the more irritating when there were still spaces in the morning. So, I had to drive park and walk - and pay £35 for the pleasure. Surely the hotel should have a deal with the car park? Turned what would have been good value into poor value for money. Neither did I find the attitude of the check in staff in any way welcoming, or appropriate – firstly being ignored, then being told there was no space for me to park and sent away with a map. I didn't like what was done, and I also didn't like the way it was done. Given this experience when being ‘welcomed’ to the hotel will I return? No – I will book elsewhere, there is plenty of choice at this price point, and I will be making it. I will be visiting Oxford regularly over the next year and a half as I complete my research – and Mal Maison will not be one of the options for overnight – despite it’s excellent location.

Pros: excellent location in central Oxford, minutes away from historic colleges, the central market, and the bus station.
Cons: Rooms were small, extremely overheated and poorly ventilated. Old carpeting triggered allergies. Breakfast not included in the room price and very expensive ($30 for a continental buffet).
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: It is in an excellent location for visiting my daughter who is studying at Worcestor college.
Cons: We were in a room with heavy scaffolding blocking the entire two windows. Men were talking, yelling & working/pounding in front of the two windows every morning. They totally ignored us who needed sleeping in the room. There were no privacy nor courtesy. We were not informed or asked if it's Ok for the reception to assign such a downgraded room (the windows were blocked by scaffolding entirely)to us at check in either. The service and facilities were at most a one star hotel this time. I stayed in this hotel for about 5 times in the last two years because we were visiting our daughter who was studying at Worcestor college(one block away). They've been always about a three stars hotel standard. But this time was the worst. We will not use this hotel any more. It's totally not worth the price & the poor facility.

The decor is dated, particularly in the corridors and the lifts. It did not feel like a luxurious place to stay. The breakfast was particularly disappointing - the service was very slow and unfriendly and the food was poor quality, especially the hot food which was greasy and unappealing. Our stay was certainly not worth the money - this hotel is clearly relying on its (now outdated) reputation to justify its prices.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, lovely hotel and despite its age it outshines the modern purpose-built newcomers which are perfectly comfortable but utterly soulless. The hotel is centrally located, charming and, to my mind, the place to stay in Oxford. Value for money? Definitely! Nice warm atmosphere to the bar (not the cocktail one).
Cons: Cocktail bar was a little cold.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are very helpful, and the location of the hotel, of course, is excellent. Overall, the quality is very good. The bed and pillows were particularly comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed. The food served for tea was much better than it was in early 2019; apparently there is a new chef.
Cons: The lighting in the room was not great. The breakfast was average, not very tasty. The service in both the main restaurant (where we had breakfast only, not lunch or dinner) and the tea room was below average for such a nice establishment.
6.6 Good
Pros: Clean bedsheets and towels
Cons: Very small rooms for the price; You can't reach the reception directly; you basically have to go through hoops and being on hold before someone picks up; the staff are not quick in responding to issues or concerns. Wifi was really quite poor--it bounced off every five minutes.

Pros: This hotel was perfect for what we wanted- a location very near the theatre and centre of town. Very clean. Friendly staff. Can't comment on continental breakfast as we went next door to Bill's for breakfast which was excellent! Firm bed
Cons: No parking (but easy walking distance to carparks) Slightly cheap bathroom fittings that were slightly broken.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was excellent and the room was nicely decorated. The White Company bath products were lovely.
Cons: It was overpriced for a small attic room with damp on the wall, also very noisy, I could hear the neighbouring room open and shut their chest of drawers! It was my husbands birthday and the hotel had emailed to say that they would leave out special chocs and a card but there was no reference to his birthday at all. The breakfast was limited and in a pokey basement. I had to repeatedly ask for items such as a mug, bowl, spoon. The coffee machine was a faff and their was only one pastry available despite being only half way through breakfast service. At half the price it would have represented good value for money but this hotel is overpriced.

Pros: Great location, near to the centre of town. Rooms were clean and tidy
Cons: An enormous TV at the end of the bed. Would have been better on the wall. It made the room much smaller

Pros: The hotel was very central, within easy walking distance of the shops, sights, restaurants and the railway station.
Cons: The hotel was on a busy street, so it was noisy, especially as there was no double glazing in the windows (Listed building?) I asked for a change of room but none was available as they were booked out - it is a very small hotel - a guesthouse really rather than a hotel!

Pros: Near the pedestrian walkway and close to many shops and pubs.
Cons: The plumbing is apparently below the sewer line because there was a pump on the sink, toilet, and shower. Problem is it was unpleasantly loud. And I think they missed a plumbing trap, because the bathroom always smelled like sewer gas. But, other than that the room was lovely and quaint. Breakfast was simple but super good. Croissants, butter, jelly fruit, sandwich meats, coffee was good too.

Pros: The room was clean and bathroom was relatively new and clean. The window panes were thick so I was not bothered by street noise. For a three star it was fine.
Cons: Nothing fancy / very basic. There was also no real way to use the desk as space was too tight.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Clean, basic double room; staff were helpful. Nice cooked breakfast at a little nearby cafe. Location near Oxford town centre and easy walk from/to the train station.
Cons: The walls between the rooms are thin, so I could hear conversations of other occupants. In addition, the music from a nearby entertainment spot, carried on until 2am; wore earplugs the second night and managed to get to sleep.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location comfy bed
Cons: Receptionist was rude Expensive for size and quality of room
5.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel is in a good location, close to the station.
Cons: I chose this hotel based on the 24 hour reception and checked that my late arrival (12.15am) would be no issue. However, when I arrived, I was greeted at reception with a "Back in 5 Mins sign", I waited for 15 mins but nobody arrived. I called the number on booking.com which was answered, but I was hung up on before anyone spoke. I waited, in case somebody would appear at reception but when this did not happen I called again, clearly waking up the gentlemen manning the reception. By this point it was 45 minutes after I arrived and I just wanted to go to bed!! When I reached my room, I was hugely disappointed. It was nothing like the photographs on booking.com, lacking any throws, cushions or colour. It had a certain stale sweat smell and it certainly was not a room that could justify an £85 a night fee. What's more, the room was extremely noisy from the club smoking area outside the window. I would not recommend this hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: location
Cons: bar next door
7.0 Good
Pros: Close to everything in Oxford.
Cons: Offered room on 2nd floor, when requested first floor room. I asked to be moved. I paid for room, but hotel took second amount for secure deposit.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location is great , close to everything in the centre of Oxford. Receptionist was friendly and gave lots of information about the area and places to see.
Cons: The room was very small with a view of the roof and all air conditioning units that were quite noisy. For £165 you’d expect a hairdryer but there was none. We didn’t get to sleep until gone 2.30 when the music stopped in the nightclub below the hotel, so that was disappointing as it wasn’t the peaceful night you’d expect, I wouldn’t class it as a hotel it’s more like a B & B you’d find in Blackpool. Don’t pay £15 for breakfast when whetherspoons or the fire station cafe are on the same road.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location; friendly staff.
Cons: Not having breakfast was a disadvantage.

Pros: A good experience! It's a hostel, so you are getting what you pay for, but the beds were comfortable, quiet time after 11 PM was enforced in the halls, and there was free breakfast (just toast, jam, and cereal, but still! free!). The location is definitely the best feature as it is just a few minutes from the Oxford train station in one direction and a few minutes from the city center in the other. They also hold your bag for you for free for the day when you stay with them, even if you've checked out! Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Hostel location
Cons: Outlets in the room, light, cleanliness.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A good experience! It's a hostel, so you are getting what you pay for, but the beds were comfortable, quiet time after 11 PM was enforced in the halls, and there was free breakfast (just toast, jam, and cereal, but still! free!). The location is definitely the best feature as it is just a few minutes from the Oxford train station in one direction and a few minutes from the city center in the other. They also hold your bag for you for free for the day when you stay with them, even if you've checked out! Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The bathroom was a tad dirty, but it's what you'd expect when sharing it with a bunch of others. Boys and girls had separate bathrooms which is always nice.
6.8 Good
Pros:
Cons: It's at a great location and for tow or three nights it's perfect. For a longer stay I would recommend something a bit higher standard.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for sightseeing! Oxford Castle is only a few meters away from the hostel, and so is the bus station. The staff provided free towel.

Pros: Good central location - cheap. Friendly welcome
Cons: Dirty quilts and cushions on beds, shower only produced scalding hot or cold water, very noisy street traffic and revellers all night.
6.7 Good
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff Location very central Reasonable price £55 each for night.
Cons: It was a bit tired and rundown, not that clean and they were going to put us near eachother (2 rooms) but forgot so we were on different levels.

Pros: Location
Cons: Bring your earplugs. And eye mask. And your own lightbulb. And heater.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Everything. Dirty, noisy. Very overpriced. Was that bad on arrival we stayed about an hour in our room then left and booked somewhere else. Yes we lost money but it was worth it.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The room was big for 2 people

Cons: Everything, the whole place needs a clean up and a refurb
4.8 Okay
Pros: Location!
Cons: The room we had was either the worst in the whole place ( cold water only in the sink, shower moldy) or the photos online are not representative of the place.
It’s a student hotel/hostel.

Pros: Location convenience and proce which was the reason I booked.
Cons: Nothing in particular. I knew the hotel was next to the main bus station so was expecting the noise but it actually wasn't that bad. The room itself could probably do with a bit of tlc but on the whole for the price and location it was worth it.
