Cons: My tv in the room did not work (no sound on the tv) It eventually got fixed, but took some time staring at the walls in the mean time. The pillows were very thin and cheap, I would highly recommend buying somm good quality pillows that are firm so guests would get a better sleep. At night I had little bites all over me, so I am not sure if I was allergic to the mattress or the laundry detergent they use. The parking service is extremely expensive and it takes a long time for the parking attendants to move all of the cars underground to get to yours, so that is not a very modern or efficient system.

Cons: There is nothing to dislike. The hotel features first rate amenities within a fine old hotel that is maintained impeccably.

Cons: Entrance to drop off very crowded, Bar closed at 11.15 they had no coffee and wouldn't make any, just a very strange attitude at the bar the ambience is more "what are you doing here" than welcome We ordered a queen got a double bed.

Cons: For years I have wanted to stay at this hotel -- I finally had the opportunity and was sorrly disappointed by the way I was spoken to and treated by front desk staff. I asked reasonable questions and said please and thank you and was treated with "...yes but you booked this on-line". As if to say I was not worthy of decent service because I booked my room on-line at the last minute." My room was not as described when I booked and I would suggest the Hotel Management double check what On-Line Travel Services are offering on behalf of their hotel - so that people are not mis-lead and then asking your snobby Front Desk staff about what was promised and then not offered. I would have to say the price for a room is definitely not worth it. Rooms are dated and smaller than reviews and photos. The Lord Elgin did not live up to any of my expectations -- the Front Desk staff could do with better customer service training. However, BellMen/Valet staff and Housekeeping were delightful.

Cons: Not many complaints. There was no microwave in the room and the ice machine was located on the floor below mine. It wasn't as close to the downtown action as some of the other hotels, but it wasn't too far out of the way either.

Cons: The bed wasn't as comfortable as I've experienced in past; old spring style which felt lumpy at times. The AC unit was loud if used.

Cons: The staff could not speak French. The room was obviously cleaned too fast the bed was poorly made and the bathroom was a bit dirty. There was a lot of dust on the furniture. There was no terrasse and no pool. There was no recycle bin in the room. The strong chemical perfume in the lobby.

Cons: When we arrived, there was no power in the hotel. Of course this is not their fault, but we weren't even informed by the concierge when checking in, it was the teenage doorman who told us that there was no power. Not a great first impression. When they checked us in, they sent us to an occupied room which was absolutely mortifying. The next morning we woke up and noticed that there was a blood stain on the top sheet.. that was not from my partner or I. We immediately called and asked for the sheets to be changed, and informed them we were heading out for the rest of the day. When we returned back to the hotel hours later, the sheets had not been changed. Totally disgusting. The next morning my partner decided to stay in Ottawa one extra day, and wanted to stay in the room an extra night (it was close to everything and his stuff was already there). When we went downstairs to pay the extra charge, they took an ADDITIONAL deposit. Totally ridiculous as they still had a deposit from the first two nights. Definitely would not stay here again! The location was great but there were far too many issues.

Cons: None of the dining options were very affordable, and breakfast is not included.

Cons: Needs to be more clear about parking. Is there a valet stand? Do we leave everything with the desk? Wasn’t clear on arrival.

Cons: Lack of curtain or window screen. Only a blackout shade was available so either your window was open for two very close buildings to peer into or your room was dark. Also the hotel was a little worn and the carpet needed a shampoo.

Cons: In an age where preserving our environment is important, they kept replacing soap bars that were used once. On a side note, don't ask to settle your bill the night before for an early departure. Every excuse under the planet.

Cons: When I arrived, they gave me the wrong room (I booked a basic room and they gave me a room with a kitchenette). When they realized they'd upgraded me and I was staying three nights, they immediately downgraded me. I had already unpacked a little, had to repack, return to the lobby (at 2 am), and get a second room. Room number 2 had a king size bed that I wish I could post pictures of. The mattress was literally V shaped, as though an elephant had slept in the middle prior to my visit. Further, it didn't have a fitted sheet - just a flat sheet that barely covered the top, exposing an offer looking, striped mattress, ew. I eventually complained and was given a third, nicer room. So, I packed my things a second time, and went up and down returning/exchanging keys. I'd note that the woman working the morning I complained was absolutely terrible. I showed her the pictures I'd taken of the bed, which I'll eventually post on yelp, and she merely played dumb. I was not happy with the comfort or service at this hotel.

Cons: When I arrived the fitness center the phones and internet in the the rooms wasn’t working and so my ability to work from the hotel was crippled.

Cons: ceiling paint was cracking, bathroom very small and outdated, as well as some apparent damages to the door (chipping paint etc). Whole floor smelled strongly of cleaning supplies (harsh not nice) and also the air was so dry we both woke up with very sore throats.

Cons: Its a bit old now. Rooms are out dated and smell like grandmothers house. Bathroom from the 80's and water pressure like an asthmatic smoker blowing water at you through a straw. For $200 a night you expect more.

Cons: During my checkin, the staff was somehow indifferent to me. But during the checkout, another staff at that time was very nice to me.

Cons: It is dated and could upgrades. Carpet was not the cleanest, but overall I would say it is just ok.

Cons: The sum of all the reviews I read were a better reflection of the experience than I expected. The hotel was overall good. It provided everything I could have expected for the price and location. Nothing exceptional from the hospitality side of the overnight team, bit a true sense of hospitality rang loud and clear from any and every interaction of the day time staff and management, from email correspondence with management, to front desk, to staff I passed in the hallway. Great location! Not in a room with an opportune view, but such a prime location to government and financial buildings, sightseeing, shopping, and dining.
