Stig the Receptionist at front desk who tried to rectify the problems with our rooms My wife and I arrived on the 17th August 2015, and on attempting to check-in we were told the "computer system" was not working and therefore we we not able to check in. We were told to either wait (they could not provide an estimate on how long it would take). After a 15-min wait we were checked in "manually". As an American Carlson member, I presented my Club Carlson Gold card, but it wasn't accepted because my trip was booked through Kayak! Nevertheless after a short delay we were in our room. Immediately we noticed that the carpet in the room was dirty, and there were 2-single beds (as opposed to a double as we booked) Credit to the front desk staff who promptly reassigned us to a "newly refurbished" room. The room was a marked improvement over the last, and we happily settled in; unpacking our suitcases and preparing for an afternoon of sightseeing. On return in the evening, we prepared for the night and around 20:00 we tried to lock the door. The door lock did not work. A call to the front desk and a couple of minutes later someone from maintenance was at our door. I explained that the door wouldn't lock from the inside and he insisted that the lock was working. I was a bit taken back by his curt response, but nevertheless invited him to try. What followed next had me flabbergasted! The maintenance employee closed the door, and using his body weight proceeded to to yank on the door handle until he could engage the lock. Curtly he replied, "There it is locked". I attempted to unlock door by turning the lock itself and when I couldn't he demonstrated how to unlock the door. Standing on his toes and again using all his body weight he pressed down on the door handle until the lock disengaged. Again the curt response, "There it is unlocked". I couldn't believe it! Visibility annoyed at this point, when I pointed out that locking the door in such a manner would be a fire hazard (not to mention my wife will never be able to unlock the door if I locked it), he suggested that I actually didn't need to lock the door as no one from the outside could get in without a key. In response I stated that any member of staff could enter if the door was unlocked, to which he acknowledged was true and said I could either call the front desk to arrange a new room, lock the door as he demonstrated, or leave the door unlocked; but there was nothing he could do to fix the lock. Another call to the front desk and we were offered a room on the 20th floor. So after repacking we moved to our 3-room for the day. From then on the only issues we faced were with our room keys. Every time we left our room, the room key would not let us back in. So we had to make our way to the front desk where they would make a new key. Every time without fail!
I stayed 2 nights for a city break and found the hotel fine in particular I found the sauna a welcome relief after touring the city all day. The breakfast buffet had everthing you would want with good quality ingredients. It was a good location just a 5 min walk to the main street karl johans. my only fault was the room was a little small (twin queen were 2 single beds although comfortable) with no tea coffee making facility which is a pity especially when walking around the city all you look forward to is a warm cup of coffee to relax in your room, the hotel lobby was dated the chairs were quiet worn and the leisure facilities (pool) was freezing!!
The staff was excellent - they helped me recover my kindle when I accidentally left it on the airport shuttle. They also helped me with directions and provided assistance in finding my way around Oslo. The breakfast buffet was very good as well. Room temperature was a bit warm for my taste - the ac was apparently not on yet (early spring), so I could not make the room cooler.
The roof bar and the location with a nice walk to the city center.
We don't know what we would have liked because our reservation was cancelled on the morning of our flight to Oslo because of a hotel workers strike. Obviously, we didn't like the need to find another hotel at the very last minute.
Very nice breakfast in nice room The interior of the rooms is "dated"
Breakfast The room was old and not entirely clean, staying at this hotel was a true disappointment, not value for money at all!!
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The swimming pool and sauna had free lockers and plenty of fluffy white towels. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. The booking details were totally correct. Thank you. No.
exceptionally good was the breakfast, very wide variety of anything you can wish for and great service( michael from the brekfast service was very helpful and gave a great service!). also the view from the hotelbar is great! the "business class" rooms were a little bit old fashioned and run down, but clean and everythign was there.
Breakfast buffet was nice, good location Didn't really have air conditioning -- our room was really hot which was disruptive
Friendly staff, nice room and very clean.Good location. We decided to have a meal on the night we arrived in the dining room, waiter said how good the food was,he took our order and we ordered a bottle of wine then he returned to say all that was available was a burger. Not good for first impression.
Very slow/non-existant Room Service.
Saga Hotel is a very stylish and comfortable boutique hotel, in a quiet and elegant area of Oslo, fifteen minutes walk from the national theatre, the palace and the main shopping street. (The train from the airport stops at the National Theatre and taxis are available, or without a lot of luggage it's a 15 minute walk - alternatively there are trams from Oslo Central Station). The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent and my room was very comfortable and quiet - I was able to sleep with the windows open without any noise from the street. I was meeting up with Norwegian friends and after calling in to the hotel to take me out they were very impressed and will now be recommending the hotel to their business colleagues. I'll certainly stay here again on my next visit to Oslo. Apart from excellent breakfast facilities the hotel doesn't have a restaurant or room service - as a single traveler I prefer not to dine out alone, but as I was meeting friends each day this wasn't a problem on this trip. There are lots of restaurants nearby.
Rooms were very comfortable with helpful staff. The breakfast was a nice variety of foods.
friendly staff hypocritical staff
Quiet, unobstrusive atmosphere Even for a single room, rather small with eaves further limiting space on 4th floor
Good beds , we slept really good Bookings said I could have reserved handicapped parking. Hotel said when I arrived Bookings has error as to parking on its site. Since they do not have reserved parking.and this is Bookings fault not the hotels.
Toilet/shower room tiny. Could do with at least a few wall hooks for towels.
coffe-tea-water free all day long!!! self-made wafles in the afternoon!!! free evening-buffet!!!! big room!!! very nice decoration!!! very friendly staff!!!! very quiet location!!! the best hotel ever!!!!
Handsome building with interesting archietectural history in gracious, easily accessible residential area on westside of Oslo. Peaceful and quiet. Close to local trams. Buses, good restuarants and Vigeland Sculpture garden. Modernized rooms are well-decorated in spare contemporary Scandinavian design. Our room for two was spotless and had excellent toilet\shower facilities. Abundant, although standard, breakfast buffet and very good evening buffet included in price of hotel. Juices, coffee and tea available all day. There are 3-4 well furnished, comfortable, smoke free lounges and an outdoor terrace.. Free wireless internet throughout hotel. Good for business as well as leisure travellers and families. Main desk clerks were a bit harried, not as friendly as staff providing breakfast or evening buffet who were attentive and helpful.
The relaxed atmosphere and pleasant staff. The breakfast. We were unable to attend the evening meals. We did wonder if our room would be warm enough in deep winter, especially the bathroom. The wall heater did not work on the full range od settings.
see above. We were put an a handicaproom.
Evening meal was more than light, it was excellent! There was a mention about fitness centre and we thought it's a gym but it wasn't.
Nice and quiet area, on walking distance of the city center. Not like any big business hotel, but much more cosy. Even though the hotel was not fully booked, I was offered the room with a very small window and the worst view you can imagine.
Staff, location, cleanliness..value.
Large room and bathroom, breakfast Noisy air conditioner in the rooms which cannot be adjusted or switched off.
Great location and wonderful rich breakfast, nice staff
Good location - near Central Station, clean and large room, perfect bathroom, friendly attitude.
The hotel is in an excellent central location for exploring and experiencing the city of Oslo.
Comfortable room and helpful staff Noisy tram lines outside
the bed is very nice. location is so closed to oslo university college and not far from the other famous places. breakfast is goooood. the room is a liitle small for two persons..
Free Wi-Fi that works. Rooms are small but cozy.
excellent breakfast, nice and big enough room, warm and pleasant, in the city centre
friendly staff, great breakfast, good bed it was actually quite freezing in the room because of the air-conditioning (but because it was central air-conditioning, it couldn´t be put down)
Close to city center and bus/metro stations
The breakfast. A little bit expensive for the type of room you get. The price could easily be around NOK 900. That would be a reasonable rate.
Relatively central location Reception staff were unhelpful and surly.
Bathroom was very small and old.
Location and Staff No Air Conditioning and it seemed a bit run down.
This hotel is a bit old a not modern at first sight, but comfortable and functional, ther is all you can need including free cofee in the hall or garage. The staff is kind and helpful. The location is also very good.
service of the people
a comfortable large room + very good breakfast not applicable
The staff tried within there ability to accommodate our requests. The breakfast was good. Compared to US standard, this hotel would probably not receive more than a two star
Simple interior fixtures that makes you feel at home Tram noise in the morning if you're in the ground floor
Good facilities, even a small gym in the basement Can get a little noisy on the ground floor when the tram starts in the morning
The hotel is child-friendly and family-friendly. Good location - 10 minutes walk to Oslo main street, 2 minutes from trendy seafront area.
The location was very handy, quite close to the sea and not far from the city centre. The room was not very big but we had no problems sleeping on the very comfortable beds, also the shower facility is quite nice. The staff was very kind and helpful.
hardly any people around, easy to do stuff
I like the way how recepcionists threated me as a guest of that hotel. They was very kind and pleasent. Also, I like the fact that they immediately answer me on the mail prior to visit to the hotel.
Reasonable price considering that this is in Oslo. The room was fairly large. The hotel is located very close to Aker Brygge, where you will find several very good restaurants and bars. The restaurant was closed in the evening, no in-house facilities at all besides the reception after that. Some traffic noise in the room. To enter the hotel you need to climb a couple of short staircases, which may be a problem for people with prams or wheelchairs.
very good location, big seletion of breakfast, friendly staff, very comfortable bed the room is a bit small, not very new/modern furniture in the room
Location and atmosphere Low value for money
Nice hotel for a good price in a nice and quiet part with a very complete breakfast!
Very friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location. On the bus line, 5 minutes from National Theatre metro stop and connections to airport. Quiet, upscale neighborhood. Short walk to palace, university, and Ibsen museum.
My sister and I were so surprised that we got a good deal on such a cool hotel! It's a very nice boutique hotel that made us feel very comfortable. The floor in the bathroom is heated, the decor is very fresh and hip, and the bar and cafe downstairs are one of the many great places to eat in the neighborhood. I highly recommend staying here! The one thing I would say is don't get breakfast delivered, it's not worth the money for what you get. The one thing I would say is don't get breakfast delivered, it's not worth the money for what you get. It's mostly bread and some meat delivered to your door, not a hot breakfast, and you can find a better or comparable deal elsewhere, even in the cafe right downstairs. Also, while the Sentrum is a short bus ride/30 minute walk away, Frogner is a more expensive area if you're looking for shopping.
Very clean and welcoming. Great restaurant.
personel were friendly and helpful the bed was tiny. the chair needed to be replaced. the heater didn't work so they had to bring in a supplemental heater. it was really too expensive for the smallness of the room. the t.v. wasn't particularly modern, but I don't watch t.v.
The hotel was a brisk 30-min walk from the station but we liked that we could walk through the city streets to get there. The breakfast was fantastic: full of variety and plenty of it. Staff were friendly and efficient. The room was quite small but beautifully furnished and the bed was very comfortable. Would have loved tea-making facilities in the room - but we know this is a British thing!
It's location The beds were on wheels and on a wooden floor, amazing how much they would role around. The room was too small and in general for the price charged I don't think it was worth it. I aslo didn't like that fact that they charged me 6 KR for printing out a boarding card when my total bill was over 6.000 KR. It just doesn't look right in terms of customer service. It's cheap.
My room was small but cheerful, comfortable, quiet and clean. The carpet was looking a little old, but the hotel had a grand feel, especially given its price. The breakfast was very nice.
Comfortable with pleasant staff and accessible to city centre
All in one was pretty much ok, except the fact that the bathroom was not cleaned and i had to say that to the staff 2 times in order to get it clean
Very friendly & kind staff at checkin & indeed at checkout. A very good breakfast. My room was ver noisey, facing the roasd where trams were going by regularly. No air conditioning meant that it was quite uncomfortable.
The breakfast, and the location The room was full of dust. Too expensive.
Being close to the Design Store Building and other shopping areas by the wharf. The hotel staff was unhelpful in almost every respect.
Friendly helpful staff, good location, excellent breakfast and comfortable room (superior).
The hotel is quietly located, although very central. Liked the lay-out and functioning of the breakfast buffet. Not the usual busy feel, tables placed comfortably away.
Super location, centrally located but quiet. Very clean. Helpful staff and wonderful breakfast. No
close to the Aker Brygge area of the city no
I like the kindness of the staff, and their ability to answer questions, also to solve some problems. they were very friendly. it was dirty with chips under the beds, and i would prefer some double bed instead of single beds. They were not the most comfortable bed i ever had in hotels. also, they are a bit short for me, i'm 1m88.
This Hotel is located in a very pleasant street, lot of shop's, easy access to public transportation. The design of this hotel is up to date in a Scandinavian style. The lock of my door seems damaged and I'm not sure it was very efficient... No safety box in rooms.
The hotel is good location. Very good price for the value. It is not suitable for friends to share the rooms. Because the bathroom has glass windows where you can see directly through! Also they messed up our rates. I booked 2 standard double rooms, 1 for 2 people 1 for 1 person. The room for 1 person has cheaper rate. They gave us a single room for the 1 person and wanted to charge double room's rate!
Liked the room for its design, also great breakfast and free coffee, tea and apples at the reception
Room comfort Maybe reception staff came across as a bit curt
the breakfast was very good, the position good the noice of conditioners
clean, good breakfast, slept well the receptionist could not even explain properly where the hotel was located. I was already in bogstadveien, and she made me turn twice because she didn't know where I was, even though I was naming all the names of the stores.
Easy access to public transport - trams outside the door and T-bahn a few hundred metres away. We had asked for twin beds. We did not notice we had been given a double bed (with two duvets) until we had unpacked and to move then to another room would have been too tiresome. Twin beds means twin beds.
Breakfast was fresh and good and served in a nice room. Free hot drinks 24h. Free Internet point and printer. The room was not properly clean. Noise coming from the courtyard (air conditioning equipment?)
Very clean comfortable and friendly
rooms are a bit small
