Very simple. Very central. Nice and clean.
the location, and the breakfast everthing was perfect
it;s near the station and we can find it easily.and the breakfast is good vocie ..we cant sleep very well in the night
Bathroom Dirty towels
the location is really central and the rooms are clean and warm and for breakfast there was lots of food WiFi did not reach the room
Amazing location, you can walk anywhere around the centeer within minutes. Great hot showers, spacious rooms and the price was ridiculously low. Wi-fi was a great plus and the breakfast very generous. Spotless room with wc and shower. Very low prices for snacks. Bought and umbrella and it was broken...
No internet connection :(
Well located - very convenient to u Bahn.
good location and breakfast , The price is really very cheap. I booked for 3 days. The first day when I took bath, the hot water became cold. The bed sheets are thin and the heater does'nt work. But the season is winter, I amost frozen to death. So the second day I put on all my clothes.I asked for a new towel but the servers tell me I may pay 1 euro dollar. The wi-fi just only work on the first day.The walls are thin so i can hear the sounds from other rooms,i think other guests can hear my sounds too,so i must be quiet in room.
Close to centre Poor Heating
Colors of the lights - Blue?
Free Wi-fi, 24 hours service at reception and the atmosphere at generator bar.
double rooms are not a suit, but fine and toilet inside just like an Hotel. bar, internet, cinema available. Brekfast not so fine but included. close to underground and tram stops. a fine bunker full of folks. dust under the bed. toilet vent broken.
We found everything we needed such as clean bedroom, laundry, very generous breakfast for free, friendly staff and a safety box. Brilliant. Once we had dinner there at very reasonable price (5 euros), but the meat (beef) and fish (salmon) were overcooked and inedible.
good room, great location high school kids :) lowsy aluminum tables and chairs in the bar
very cheap price one Monday night about 1:00 am, some people were very loud, and nobody took care of that.
better then i had expected. clean. attentive staff. excellent location next to good transport stops. walls were too thin and halls a bit nosiy. could not figure out heater in room.
It was located on a Metro and tram station making travel to and from other places in Berlin very easy. Checkout is 10 am which is too early. Also, I didn't like the shower stall very much, it was too small for me to shower comfortably but that's a small thing considering the price.
Cleanliness of the room/bathrooms, very friendly and helpful employees, breakfast included, good location in front of the railway station
Cheap (ish) Hot shower with good pressure Location Friendly staff (helped with directions, etc) Luggage storage Generally quiet, especially after the 10pm lights out Gated at night, secure Weird double standards regarding check-in (we had to wait til after 2pm, then one morning some guys checked into our shared dorm???) The water was orange/yellow/brown one morning, dodgy pipes?! Beds were insanely old, dirty looking mattresses in need of replacement Lift was broken for most of the trip No free WiFi
The location is perfect. Not far from the center and really close to bars and night clubs.
Excellent facilities, low price, sheets and towel included, security. Need to bring own locks for security lockers (though they sell them for 20euro at the front desk).
Nice location, near to 2 subway stations, and in a lively district of Berlin, near to the Berlin Wall ("Easten Gallery", 10 min walking). Worth the price. The 4 people room is a bit small.
Nice area with lots of restaurants, bars and cafes. the hotel rooms are clean and nice, friendly male staff. Although there were mostly young people it was not very noisy and we had a cheap, nice stay. The service at the front desk was sloooooooooooooooow! The hostal is not very close to the city center, and also not to the U-bahn S-bahn station... but that was not really a problem for us, it was vacation!
it was cheap, nice bathroom The location was not very good, and the check in and check out time, were not very good
That was cheep and near to restaurants, clubs, transport Bathrooms were dirty
The price for one night is a bargain and is located in the heart of Friedrichshain. Charges you for many basic things, five euroes for breakfast, 5 euros for wifi (24h), 4€ for a beddin change and so on.
The location pf the Hostel is perfect for night life and the rooms are really clean and comfortable
close to town and well connected the hostel and the rooms are not clean. the shower was broken. they gave us only one towel and never changed it (except the day before leaving), the room was too small, you couldn't even move. it wasn't furnished at all.
Nice staff Single room was a six bed room ("double decker"); even for a hostel below any standard
helpful staff, bathroom the actual beds had bad matrasses and you rolled automatically to the centre
close to public transport, friendly staff The private room was extremly small and very spartanic, just a bed, a small wardrobe and a chair. I know it's a youth hostel after all but a bit more comfort and cosyness in the private rooms would be nice as it wasn't that cheap and not in the centre. also, I must have been over the kitchen's air vent as it alsways smelled like food, from morning to night.
Price & situation The bunkbeds
The staff was extremely helpful if you have any questions. We got tips on where to eat, what the best clubs were, anything we asked they were more than happy to help. When our plugs weren't working in our room they took our electronics and plugged them in for us in the office. Everything was fine!
the location was good, easily accessible by bus from the airport and the central rail station. the staff was extremely helpful. it was a bit too noisy because of the large number of young ppl,, still ok
Location, and price No
Comfortable and lower price Room is too narrow, but I can accept it~
The rooms were very clean. There were some issues at the reception, so the staff forgot about us.
Nice place to stay for the money.
Easy access to transport via metro or bus. Continential breakfast. Common bathrooms
Tennis Only one computer with internet, and always busy :(
24 hour opening. For such a large hostel it was amazingly quiet and uncrowded. It was a good location not far from the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The court yard was nice. The connected restaurant was pretty good. The included breakfast was quite good. The location of the hostel was good. Their no-smoking policy.
The hotel is situated close to public transport, so it's as well easy to visit the city as to go to the airport. There is a market nearby, so you can do some shopping. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The personel is really nice and helpful. They also organse walking sightseeing tours. The only thing I didn't like was that a twin bad had two mattresses instead of one big...
The location is great. Nice friendly place to stay. Clean rooms and good value. Outdoor courtyard is nice place to sit in evening.
very good location, friendly staff, very clean room
The center patio is nice, bustling with friendly travelers. The beds are comfortable and we had one bed for each family member, for the price of a double room (2 adults + 2 small children). The room was clean, but the bathroom didn't smell well, from a broken extractor and a trash can that was on appearance clean, but harboured foul smelling odors. We had to take it out, and then the room was OK. We reported this to management and it's probably fixed now. Also, the room is spartan at best, I don't see the need to have such massive iron bunk beds that feel like they would carry an elephant, but make you feel like in army barracks. The street side rooms are noisy from car traffic. Closing the window was not an option, because then it would be too hot.
Good new building and a good quality/price ratio! The position....the area is a little bit dark and desolate!
Friendly hostel with even nice two-person rooms with bathroom. There is a very nice restaurant next to the hostel. There is no lift.
It was great for the price would stay again
The location was good, being just out of the city centre of Berlin and very close the train station. Breakfast was pretty good there too. The room was clean and tidy and the rates were quite cheap. The wi-fi only worked in the reception area. It was free though, which was good.
reception people is very helpful, not only in the polite way, but enthusiastic.room facilities are well organized. Location is good, 5-10 mins walk to the main MTR station, hotel website has very clear direction instruction. shower - time limited with water, you have to press a tap again and again for another 2 mins water. hotel room is prohibited for any smoke, even kettle which did not specific wrote down on the room rules. My kettle was took away from the clean lady and only return it 10 mins before I check-out.
great staff, great location, lovely room
friendly atmosphere, willing staff ( esp. Lars :)
There was no towel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very smoky in the lobby, very strange desing of the room.
pleasant atmosphere, main guests are young people, good connections with public transport no
Perfect location, having access to many sites of interest and night life. The room was spacious, modern and cleen. The staff was very helpful giving you just the right piece of information you need. I would definitely recommened it.
That it was a nice modern room with nice facilities A lot of noise from the street at any hour
The staff was really nice and helpful.
Centrally located, very clean, friendly atmosphere
Really close to U and S Bahn station, really close to Friedrich strasse
The best part is meeting people from Ireland, England, and Singapore. Having to deposit 5 euros for bed sheets was somewhat annoying. One of the door handle to the hallway was broken, and I can't back to my room. Warning that there may be roommate of the opposite gender would be nice to prevent potential awkward moments.
The 24 hour opening time and check in The location was a bit out of the way but in the thick of things in general
The 3-euro breakfast buffet is great, as is the bar, pool table, and foosball table.
Very warm and cosy, nice staff Towels and sheets were not change at all during my whole stay (3 nights)
We enjoyed the location beside the last remaining pieces of the Berlin wall - really interesting part of town. The boat was excellent and Anya the hostess exceptionally helpful. Would love to come and stay again. No
The staff was very helpful and kind. The breakfast was good, The lounge was nice as well.
Good location and friendly and helpful staff The breakfast is not very attractive and tasty
the staff wer so helpful, excellent location. At night in Rm 34, there is a loud clicking sound that comes on and off constantly. i am a fairly sound sleeper, but it may have kept others awake.
One spider that finally he was my friend Cold coffe, smell
Friendly staff Room was near breakfast area-got woken up early
The staff was very friendly and helpful. they gave us lots of useful hints and tips. Nessuno.
friendly and helpfull staff.boat warm bar great b/fast could b better
I was robbed in one of the rooms, in c -27. As I told before somebody stole my iphone, usb, ipod and a camera. It was 21/11/2010 This fact is horrible for the hotel ! Moreover the window of my room was closed when I left, and when I came into the room it was open and there were footprints on the grass in fromt of the window.
The hotel is worth the money you pay, if you need just a comfortable bed during your stay in Berlin - this hotel is for you. The location is good, it is right opposite the S-Bahn station Charlottenburg and 5 min walk from the U-Bahn station Wilmersdorfer Strasse. If you arrive at Tegel airport you can take X9 bus and go until its last stop - Zoologischer Garten (~30 min). Then use for ex. U-Bahn to take you to Wilmersdorfer Strasse (2 stops), pay attention that you can use the same ticket as in the bus, it is valid for 2 hours. It is also very comfortable to get from the hotel to the Main railway station or vice a versa by metro, a straight line.
excellent value for money
The price, of cource. the staff are nice, and it's free to use the kitchen, although the kitchen facilities are poor and not clean enough. and, the heating facilitiy in the room is great, and always able to use the toilet and shower, for there aren't so many people the location is near to the city center, but i suppose it's not really a safe area, strange people walking on the road late at night, and it lacks an elevator, our room is on the 4th floor...
Everything was within walking distance from the hotel. Each room should have a cooling fan instead of a television. We did not watch tv at all while staying at the hotel, but we sure could have used a fan during the night.
accomodation, quite rooms, cleanliness in washing-room reception, kitchen, uncomfortable beds
Good place with cheap price..
I stayed in a triple room, which was clean and spacious. The bathrooms were shared with the rest of the floor but were clean and not too crowded. The location is convenient to the S-Bahn, restaurants, pubs, and shops. The beds were slightly uncomfortable.
Friendly staffs. Inconvenient location. Bars and night clubs nearby.
Only breakfast. Room equipment, bathroom facilities, strange guests.
Six floors, no elevator
It was a great experience stepping back into the East Germany of the 1980s. The room was basic, but met our expectations. It's not for everyone, but if you want to experience what life was like back then, then it's great. I thought the shared bathroom on our floor was untidy.
We were given a single room at the price of a double room (8 square meters). There were no closet, toilet, tv or anything in the room, and it was noisy. There were no common rooms at the hotel and the DDR-design are pseudo. Very low value for money.
This is an excellent choice for those who are mostly thinking about price and cleanliness, but it is also very well located with regards to public transport (the train station is only a few steps away) and there is a cheap supermarket right by too. And the design is cool and fun. Staff was very friendly too. Highly recommend this place. It didn't bother me but sound easily travels through the doors. However, there seem to be only 3 rooms in each section so there are really only two other rooms that will be using the same hallway as you.
This place had an interesting retro decor, that lives up to the DDR theme that they are going for. The room was pleasant enough for a Hostel. Generally it initially met the expectations of what I was paying for. The location is good. Fairly close to many things, particularly the Ostbahnhof. The room smelled like it had been smoked in every day for years, despite the no smoking signs everywhere. I was letting that slide until I found out that my room had bed bugs! I had lots of bites. Upon closer inspection, I found out that the mattress was infested, and I killed a full grown adult as it was crawling around on me. The room had almost all of the things you can look for when hunting for bed bugs infestation. Blood spots from the post-feed, bug parts in the mattress lining, bug dirt in the sheets and mattress crevices. It was all there. I understand that these things happen, even in the nicest hotels, and would not be leaving a scathing review if the situation had been appropriately handled. But in addition to the infested mattress, the staff seemed unconcerned. Which makes me think this is a regular problem, and that there is no protocol for dealing with it. The woman at the desk did not bat an eye at the dead bed bug I showed her. She offered me another room, in a tone that suggested I was being unreasonable. There was no apology, no offer of refund for the two nights I had already been there, no offer to pay for laundry, no offer of plastic bags to quarantine things. They didn't want to come look at the room to see where the bugs were. Those are all bad signs, and I left for another hotel minutes thereafter. I did get refunded for the nights that I would not be staying there, but had already paid for, so at least there is that.
The staff were very helpful in giving information, stowing our luggage on the last day and spoke English! Noise! It claims to have sound-proofed rooms. They certainly block the noise from the nearby railway station but the walls are paper-thin. There was drilling early morning twice, loud talking by people with their door open at 2.15 am and a woman shouting into the shower that she had left her ring there.
I liked the old radio in my room and the helpful staff who provided me a really useful instruction about the city. NO
The Ostel's closeness to Ostbahnhof(rail station) - it was fantastic!
DDR feel. Overall clean. No toilet in the room, even if you paid for. No or bad WLAN in the room. Didn't liked, that I was asked to pay the bill in advance during the checkin.
Great novelty ddr hostel! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Clean rooms, nice bathrooms. Plenty of hot water! Nothing
Very good location, the decoration of the Hostel is cool with a ddr look. Room is big (mine was a double room). They didn't keep my receipt and didnt put my payment in the system, if I haven't kept the receipt they would make me pay again. The entrance is not controlled.
The hotel is clean, the bathroom was exceptionally clean and the staff was really helpful. The launch area is great with pool tables, couches and free Internet. The room is clean and has the necessary. The location is pretty good, although is complicated to get to the airport from there. I only had one problem, that at some moment in the night was hard to sleep since the people in the room next to us were making tons of noise. I asked them to lower their voice, but although they did a little bit, I could hear them. It is a hotel that mainly really young people use so, may be I should have expected that it could be noisy from time to time.
Shared toilets and showers are few and small.
Friendly and community atmosphere, good breakfast, good wifi in the community area No wifi in the rooms
Location close to centre of Berlin. 24 hr access.
Rate between costs, internet access, location. There was a school (teenagers) during the weekend; we need to compliant few times to the reception to make them silent until really late.
Nice Staff, clean rooms
The location and atmosphere are good. There is no WIFI in the room. This is really not convenient.
The room and building itself were great The people at the front were less than friendly
Clean and comfortable room. Hostel quite well located to explore the city of Berlin. Close to underground system. Staff very helpful and polite at all times of day and night. Bit noisy while in the room from people passing in corridor outside..... bring ear plugs in future!
The room was very clean and nice. The staff also seemed to be friendly and helpfull. Hostel is not far away from Potsdamer Platz and the nearest S-Bahn station Anhalter Strasse is just around the corner. The building is quite old (which is also a good thing in my oppinion) and has lots of stairs and corridors.
Great location I cannot complain really. Great value for money
Good location, quite place, good standard rooms and breakfast, very clean, good parking possibility, nice restaurant
The staff were very friendly and helpful, I've had no problems during my stay.
It was located in a beautiful place close to the everything (by car) but on the city center.
The common bathroom was extremely clean!
Great location and friendly. On our last night there was a local festival (seem to be a lot of these events throughout the year!). But take lots of mosquito repellant - we had sprays and gels but still left after two nights with about 20 bites each...spoilt our stay but wouldnt put us staying there again - but we would go there armed!!
Most of the personell don't speak english. In the restaurant was not english meny.
It was comfortable and convenient. Breakfast gave plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful There was a slight damp smell where there are building works going on
It is extremely clean and comfortable, really cheap and in a lovely area. I would recommend it to every young traveller. It's 20 min walk from a public transport station, but we didn't mind to walk. Breakfast Staff not friendly, once was rude.
It was a good stay but it is loud. the noise is loud inside the rooms and you hear every door being closed. Otherwise it was a very nice stay and the location is so appropriate right near the U Bahn station.
A lovely building, with very comfortable beds and pleasant surroundings, particularly in the reception/bar. I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff who were so welcoming and helpful. Special mention must go to Ben, but particularly to Thilo who must possibly be the best guest relations manager in Berlin. I was shown great warmth and kindness whilst also benefiting from his informative walking tours. It is only a small point, but I would have liked some healthier breakfast food - muesli rather than sugary cereal, and perhaps fresh fruit.
Very friendly, helpful and competent stuff. Absolutely nice ambiance of building. Clean and functionally and cozily furnished rooms. In close proximity to subway station (U-Bahn). Just minor issues. Beds are a little short for tall persons. Towels are not inclusive but for hire at desk.
Very clean and friendly staff. Good location. Very noisy.
Loved the whole experience. Tastefully classic, totally renovated, and completely wired for the 21st century. Great location, really friendly staff... and the place was immaculate! I could not have been happier.
I liked the location, the style of the building, the ease of using the website and the facilities. It was efficient and was very clean. The bedroom was plain, but very comfortable and pretty. Good heating. Food was great and otherwise good facilities. I was a unhappy about being charged twice for bedsheets in one room. I found the shower room quite inconvenient to use, as the floor was often wet, and potentially easy for people in the corridor to see you going naked into the shower due to the positioning of the door. It was right next to the men's showers so I think this should be taken into consideration. plus it far from my room.
Clean, beautiful building, excellent staff, new furniture, excellent location and facilities Windows on the room's door! It was very difficult to sleep because the light in the corridor could get through the glass.... Noise in the corridors at night (only at the weekend)
Nice building and grounds. Located in a 'well-heeled' suburb of Berlin Fellow residents very noisy, especially in early hours of the morning. A long way out of the centre of the city, a bit hard to find.
It was a wonderful safe clean place and i loved it...the staff could not have been nicer... I have booked to return next month I loved it all
the room is very clean and quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. No lift, and a little bit far away from the bus station
pretty much everything, no complains nope
The staffs are clean in the room. It's really, really, really hard to find this hotel! It spent me more than 2 hours to find the hotel! And the women in the fount desk doesn't speak English!
Nature, cleanliness, value of money Explaining how to find hotel , what kind of transport you have to use.
There is quite a large parking area in front of the hotel. The vicinity is calm and peaceful.
Very basic accomodation but really very clean with helpful and friendly staff.
Romantic atmosphere, excellent keeping of the facility and last but not least the kind service of the staff.
the breakfast buffet in the morning I wish I would have been told in the e-mail that they gave me before hand to bring my own soap and shampoo on top of telling me to bring my own towel.
