Cons: Location wasn't great, Staff did not speak a single word of English but somehow spoke Spanish... Not welcoming at all and some staff were playing on their phones when there was a line of 5-6 customers waiting. There is supposedly a restaurant/breakfast room? Asked the reception about it and never managed to comunicate with them all they did was stupidly repeat the words I said and laughted with the other staff members. I highly recommend the owner of the place takes these receptionists back to which ever street corner he found them on! Completely useless! Extremely noisy by a highway. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Pros: I liked the location of the hotel which is near by line 10 that goes to all the most important spots in Shanghai.
Cons: I didn't like that the staff did not speak any English. Because of that the check in took ages. The room was fine but I could smell cigarettes smoke. Breakfast was boring, mostly Chinese style. If you want anything Western for breakfast, you can only choose croissant or toast with jam. What is more, the canteen was quite small so there were no empty spots.

My only negative is that it is very far outside of shanghai which can make for costly taxi ride. In our case we wanted a place near the airport since we were coming late so it worked out perfectly.

Cons: With my visit being for leisure, the hotel being located in a business/offices area wasn’t the best as there weren’t many shops/restaurants close by. It was a 15/20min walk to the nearest metro stop. However, this wouldn’t deter me coming back again, and would still recommend the hotel. If you’re on a business trip, it’s perfect.

Pros: it was a nice hotel being that our flight was canceled and this was the closest to the airport. they have a shuttle for pick up and drop off which is great you do not have to pay fir a taxi. the breakfast was not hat great it tasted like left overs and milk was warm, there were flies and the room was dim. the cookies tasted like the were wet. other than that the stay was good for one night.

Pros: I was really skeptical about this hotel before arrival but it really exceeded my expectations. Location was excellent for going to the National exhibition and convention center and it's also excellent for Hongqiao airport as it's so close to the subway station. Also the Hotel provided free shuttle service for the NECC and the airport. Staff were polite and spoke very acceptable english. Breakfast was excellent and very healthy. The room had all the required amenities (Safe, TV, minibar, toiletries, etc.) and though it seemed dated it was perfectly clean. The water filter in the room providing clean drinking water all the time is an excellent addition. All in all it was a very pleasant experience.

Cons: The breakfast had some diversity, but the continental choice of food was not cooked very well. Eggs were cooked to a plastic taste, bacon was always cold and mostly uncooked. Chinese food was much better attended to.

Cons: There's nothing really I didn't like about the hotel itself but you must take note that the location is way off the city center and all the lively neighborhoods so it's only perfect if you need to be close to the airport, train station, or the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC). At night there is nothing to do in the area. Be careful to check the subway timetables in case you plan to go to the city center because subway service in Shanghai close pretty early compared to Europe.

I would definitely stay at the Golden Tulip again. The (free) self-operated washing machines and dryers were so handy to have as well.

My biggest complaint is that the property shows on booking.com that they have an airport shuttle, but they do not. We would have booked a different hotel if we knew ahead of time that they had no shuttle.

Cons: No English communication skills. We asked fo freeze our bag for our baby milk and they failed to freeze the bag causing for my baby's mom's milk to spoil. When checking into the hotel, we were told 1/2 hour until room ready and proceed to the club floor. It took over 1 1/2 hours and the room was still not ready. They switched us to another room and after 1 hour and 45 minutes later, we finally got to our room.

Cons: Windows let the noise of the taking off airplanes as it was opened. Honqiao airport operates up over to midnight, that was really unpleasant. Bathroom lighting with the led above the sink was half burnt, no luggage holder, had to put my suitcase on the floor. Hotel does not offer restaurant service. Personnel did not indicate restaurant nearby, had I not traveled with Chinese colleague how could have get out of the problem. Not at Mercure standard level, either Asian or European.

Pros: I can tell you that the hotel was fine the restaurant great the cleaning great but the front desk terrible. it was terrible and I was so suppriesed with a 5 star hotel that no one could speak english and it was so hard to explaine to him what i need or even a wake up call was almost impossible to explaine to them. taxi that they booked should be and is normally companies that they trust and we can count on what was not the case.

Cons: There was no food available at most times of the day not even lunch or dinner . The hotel staff were unfriendly and could not understand nor speak English . The rooms were not really clean and very dated. Breakfast was unedable .
