Beautiful, clean resort. Friendly, helpful staff. Our amazing butler named Francisco was the best! The restaurant by the beach had the best breakfast and lunch buffets. Adults only is the way to go for sure. We had an awesome swim up bar with a great bartender named Michael. Beach was beautiful and clean but every now and then solicitors would disturb you from your relaxation to try to sell to you. I was approached various times while trying to tan or nap on my lounge chair. Definitely tacky and disruptive. Resort should put a stop to this.
What I really loved, getting away from the Chicago cold in the middle of February. It was SO relaxing. The staff who made it extra special were Ossiris, Billis, Juan, and Juan Carlos. There were activities every night, mostly delicious food, and the dance club is hot--for like an hour, but it's a really hot hour. The omelette at The Hispanola are great! Between the Bali beds and the beach huts, you can get your fill of sunshine relaxation time. Drinking whenever and wherever you want, but if we go back, it'll be in the late summer when it's less expensive. It rained a little bit almost everyday that we were there. Our room was one with a "garden view," so no view at all, but close to the beach. No free transportation into town. If there was even a cheap shuttle that would have been preferable. Cabs are expensive.
Great rooms Staff very nice but didn't listen sometimes
Good Facilities Quality of food
many fun activities old facilities, need renovation
All services and meals were of outstanding quality. The suites are architectural masterpieces. The local wines are far from European standards.
It reminded me of the melia caribe tropical hotel and resort, but cozier, hence easier to find family members when you pick a place for a wedding & not as costly. The wedding went well. I do not know if it was the actual hotel experience because I was touring the countryside 2 days prior to check-in, but 2 days into my hotel stay, I was invalid in my hotel room with a severe bout of diarrhea and fevers. Also, in the Family buffet, you get these scantily clad women at the only entrance / exit of the buffet haggling you for photos with them. Maybe this flies with the Europeans, but it's kind of embarrasing when you have a 3 year old.
Cuisine, beach fasilities, climate, parkside location
Gorgeous beaches and nice rooms. There are several restaurants all average quality but with a lot of variety. Overall food and beverage is average. The Bavaro beach is the nicest I have seen and the Platinum Club guests get very nice beach lounges underneath palm covers. The grounds of the resort are beautifully landscaped and have peacocks, flamingos, ducks, etc.... We enjoyed the outdoor private spa at the resort after booking a couples massage package. Spa prices are reasonable. The house wine is not good but you can pay extra to upgrade. There is very limited internet access so don't plan to check your email much. Like many large resorts guests reserve beach and pool chairs much of the day without using them, the hotel has a 30 minute policy but doesn't enforce it. This could be an issue when the hotel is crowded.
Typical bait and switch. Apparently we were told that every single room near or walking distance to the beach was not available. This was the case even though i booked six months ago. They literally put us in the last building on the property. The LAST building. It was even past the reception (or before if your coming off the street). It was like almost next to the street. This is ridiculous. When i spoke to Arnaldo, whom i was told was the manager (yet i saw no identification) he could offer nothing to help. No solution. No discount. No hope. My mother (who has never been to punta cana) is very upset. The hotel expects us to wait 10-15 to take a train to the beach (which is a 10 minute train ride away). If he really was the manager, he didn't solve anything. I am so disappointed at this experience. We are paying over $1,200 USD for 2 nights and this is what we are getting for it. Please avoid this hotel at all cost. If they actually act on it after i post this i will let you all know. Electricity went out on my last day. Some drinks were not included (therefore this was not all inclusive).
Everything about it, food ws great, Staff ws excellent, especially Eleena from the dinning room, she ws great Can't think of anything , looking forward to my next trip In October
I loved the property, the room, the pool, the beach, the shows and the staff. I also like the privacy of the property and the beach. I liked that I was not bombarded with people selling or wanting to braid your hair, etc. which truly made it a very relaxing vacation for me. I would recommend this property to all! I didn't like the food that much. I thought the beef and pork were very tough at most places on the property. The only place that served tender pork was the Asian restaurant (ribs). I also wished that there was more spanish food offered. I did not like that I could not have avocado or maduros being in the Dominican Republic.
Everything!! Nothing negative to say.
They did have some premium liquor which was better than many all-inclusive places I have been. Pool in our area was nice with fairly low occupancy and lots of places to sit. Only one buffet for breakfast and dinner. Huge complex, but it seems to be several hotels in one and some things were not accessible to us, like the other 2 buffets onsite.
I liked the staff. They were friendly and helpful for the most part. I didn't like that that there wasn't enough entertainment, everything is NOT included. No water sports, you had to buy everything. A lot of seaweed at the beach. Not enough chairs at the pool. There is no "view" from your room, either construction site or other building. Not a true "beach front" property, you have to catch a trolley(still on the property though) to the beach and everywhere else The food was just okay, very bland.
Beach was great! Several front desk staff and restaurant servers had very nasty and rude personalities; no remote control for TV and did not get one for 2 days despite asking repeatedly; food in main buffet was not kept very hot; I got Traveler's diarrhea while there because of the food; housekeeping did not clean room twice! I had a butler, who was not very responsive or helpful; I had to complain and act crazy with the front desk in order for them to do their jobs with regards to my room, room service, my butler, etc. I felt like I was working because of the lazy service instead of enjoying myself! Never again!
The resort was just amazing. Everything about our stay was perfect. The food was great and the ocean was fabulous and so close. The resort was so beautiful and so clean. Can't wait to go back.
This was for our honeymoon and it was extremely relaxing. We enjoyed everything from the room, the food and the location. However the staff really made us feel welcome more than anything. Evelyn was the sweetest lady and helped us with our Spanish which was really cool and made us want to come visit with her everyday. The whole crew was amazing as well. Just to name a few that went the extra mile were Yahaira, Alberto, Black Barbie, and Franchesca. They were excelente!! Also their were a couple guys that did a paddle board yoga session with us and they were hilarious and a lot of fun but unfortunately we forgot to write their names down so now I can't recall. Overall though we would definitely recommend this place it was an awesome experience. Spending the extra money for the exclusive membership is worth it as well because the place is rather large and it's nice having your own butler and desk to help you with booking reservations and excursions. Their was only one restaurant we weren't huge fans which was Sea & See but a lot of others liked it. Just wasn't for us I guess. We loved the food everywhere else though and the drinks were always coming and very delicious as well!
The staff was first class. From the moment we arrived until we left, the hard working and polite employees were always there for us. The facilities were well maintained and very clean. There was ample space to find a place to sit. The lunches had mass produced cafeteria taste to them, filling but not very flavorful. (This was not the case at dinner, the sit down restaurants were amazing.)
The staff was great and made the vacation enjoyable!! We especially enjoyed Dergis Doroteo who took extra good care of our large group. He was so much fun that our group of 20 went out of our way to go see him at least once a day. The staff puts in extremely long hours and how they can stay so happy is amazing. The food was hit or miss at many restuarants. Our group was large and some people had the exact same dish on separate nights and experienced great food to poor for that exact same dish.
From ever person we passed going/leaving D.R. we seemed to have the best experience at this resort compared to other all-inclusives. We were on our honeymoon and the first room we went to had some problems. After going to guest services (way too many times, unfortunately) they upgraded us to an amazing corner room. One thing we did not know was that you could pay with US dollars everywhere on the grounds and didn't need to exchange our money. We'd go there again, but would consider paying the extra money to be part of the elegance club. If it is your first time to an all inclusive there are plenty things they do NOT tell you upon arrival. Don't feel bad going to guest services with questions. It is their job to make you feel at home and satisfied with your visit. We went several times to be sure we got the room service we requested and paid for. They finally got it right our second day there and it was worth asking questions.
Our stay at the Magestic Elegance was truly unforgettable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The service for Elegance Club members was amazing. We could not have enjoyed our honeymoon more!
The beach front area had plenty of seats and the beach itself was beautiful. Staff was friendly at all times. The food options were good and with a variety. They had day and night activities to offer so there was always something you could do if you chose. One of the pools was drained and out of use so the first two days we did not use the pool because the other pool was full which was really annoying. Dinner reservations to specific restaurants could only be made in person so it was an inconvenience to have to go to the front and worry about something that could be easier if you could call from your room. They have an unnecessary policy for beach towels that I have never experienced at another resort. It's like a trick because they know someone is bound to lose their towel card and incur $25. Wifi was spotty and unreliable at times.
The people is excellent
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
Pay the extra cash and go to a decent hotel , had to move rooms ,room was filthy and outdated, bedding stained and unable to lock the door between the adjoining room that was occupied with guests that I was not travelling with nor are you able room door
Despite the problems with the room, the staff was very helpful. They had to switch my room twice. The first room smell like a smoking room . The second room had a real strong smell of mold. After going back and forth for 3 hours I finally got a nice room. The hotel was too far from the city of Punta Cana
I liked that the VIP section had their own private pool and members didn't have to make reservations. The food wasn't too good and got a few of us really sick.
Food, pool, room size Restuarant reservation method
I'll definitely come back. Everything was amazing.
Everyone seemed to be VIP or the LEVELS this year. Didn't feel as special...
Location Staff rude Non English speaking Food ok Lots of walking Levels of restaurants not everyone can eat at Mini bar was 4 pops 2 beers n water is all no liquor
Spa service was exceptional. Bars have a good selection of drinks, and the bartenders were friendly. The staff in general was very friendly and helpful. Bag delivery and delivery service could take a long time.
The beach experience The family environment. The vast complex and how far everything was. The culinary experience.
GREAT BEACH AND DRINKS BAD FOOD, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE HAVE TO CHANGE ALL THE EMPLOYEEES,
food was ok. the view in really good. the cleanliness of rooms are really poor. at night is very noisy even at the rooms. the room service is always late (after 2 or 3 hour after your request!!). Attention by the staff is really bad. It is not worth the 5000 to 600 per night at all. you can find several hotels all-inclusive in the area with much better service. I think they have sacrifice money by attention as they focus in large number of people. I felt like a code bar , there ins't personalize attention as you expect for that value.
The elevator was broken and they said it had been for almost 2 months, the jacuzzi button was broken, mini bar was never refilled unless we called.
Nice rooms and a great beach. The food was mediocre at best. This was disappointing.
Good shows Here in the United States most people get an average of 2 weeks off a year. Like many others I carefully plan my vacation and want to enjoy my precious time off from my normal hustle. I am a big fan of the Domincan Repulic with its beautiful beaches and great weather. I have stayed at some awesome Resorts including: Now Larimar, Melia, Barcelo Bavaro etc. Unfortuantley I can not say the same about Bahia. My fiance and I booked this trip to mainly meet with various wedding coordinators because we want to have our wedding in the Dominican Republic. We both have been married before and had 400+ person weddings so we figured if we do it at the DR we can keep it at 150 people. Just counting family and people we are 110% sure they will come we counted 110 definite people coming. So we decided to come to the DR and made an appointment with the Wedding coordinator for the day after we arrived to look at their packages, lucky for us we also made appointments with 5 other venues including a restaurant, a yacht and 3 other resorts. The top of our list was Bahia so we booked a room for two for this past weekend so we can get the full experience before we bring all of our friends and family over. The worst experience of any resort/hotel I have ever stayed at was this passed weekend at Bahia. And to be honest I am not exaggerating. I have stayed at maybe 10+ resorts in the Carribean before and this was the worst. It all began with the Check-in process which took an hour and 10 minutes. I guess I would understand the long wait if there was a huge line however there was no one in line when we got there. The gentlemen that was helping us was so distracted talking with other employees, trying to do multiple things at once, helping other guests that spoke fluent spanish (unlike us) that it took forever. To make matters worst he said he couldnt find our reservation (which eventually he found because he probably wasnt looking at the right place). Now lets talk about the first room they gave us. In the attached pictures you can see how awful our room was. When you go out on the balcony instead of seeing trees, the ocean or a courtyard we saw a huge pile of TRASH. Looks like a dump for the hotel. It was disgusting and smelled. How can you give anyone that room? Shame on you bahia! After complaining and complaining and complaining they finally gave us a "better room" close to the beach (Villa 9). This room was awful, the AC didnt work properly. The shower didnt work properly (the water would come from the top and the bottom thus causing minimal pressure). The tub would not drain water properly. The toilet would not flush and had to mainly be filled. I could keep on going but I think you get the point. At first we called guest services to get it fixed. They sent someone over while we were gone (we had to go meet with a wedding coordinator at a different resort) however nothing was fixed. We called again the next day with them saying they
The poll are a was lovely and very relaxing. Good variety in the restaurants although food was often not as hot as it could have been. Overall, I would say this was a four star not five star hotel.
Everybody knows at least english except espaniola. I'm Russian and it's very important for me. nothing
Relaxing on the beach, loads of different restaurants, Casino & Pool and Beach Bars. The sunbeds by the pool were always reserved even although there was a sign stating that you cannot reserve any beds. The majority of people staying at this hotel are Spanish. For English speaking people wanting to meet lots of new people I would not recommend.
everything was perfect the staff happy people very friendly one of the best trips very , very good everything
Liked staff friendliness and comfort of the resort. The food was not as good as we expected and the service can be at times very slow. Room service not consistent in providing towels.
The entire resort was amazing, hard for me to explain how beautiful this resort is. Very clean and well kept. The staff was very nice and professional. Definitely a great place to go if you want to relax and just get away. This was my first time in Punta Cana, and I will return to this resort again before year end. The free Wi-Fi outside the room was a plus, you had signal everywhere. The food was better than I expected, there are a lot of restaurants (Options) to choose from. The best part is that you can eat at the sister resort as well, not reservations needed for any of them. Best vacation so far to the Dominican Republic. The water pressure in the room was low later in the day (but I understand, being Dominican myself, that they try to conserve water). And I had some issues with the Wi-Fi signal in my room, outside worked great.
Very nice pools, sizeable clean rooms, friendly staff, pretty grounds. Tried to charge more than we booked for; problem getting adjoining rooms; seaweed-filled ocean; mediocre food and slow waitstaff, zero entertainment on the Royal side. A bit dull.
Food was actually incredible; it was almost the highlight of the trip! Staff was superbly friendly, and all the decor of the lounge areas and restaurants was splendidly top-notch. Will definitely be returning on my next trip to the DR! That I had to leave! =]
When we arrived they had no reservation for us. They claimed we were booked at the catalonia bavaro not the royal. Our friends that booked with us had a room waiting. I showed them my receipt that clearly stated catalonia royal bavaro. We waited and waited for hours until we were given a room, only to have to move to three rooms until we had a room that the air conditioner worked. Now it's 2am and we are tired. We came to celebrate our anniversary and mentioned it to the front desk when we checked in. I also sent an email to the hotel. We also brought 2 other couples with us to celebrate. Nobody cares. The food was horrible. The pool was chipping paint. Tiles at the pool were broken. The personal service was terrible. We travel around the world and this was the worst I have seen. I can keep going but what's the point!
Excellent staff..beautifully maintained the food could have been of a higher quality
Very good hotel for its price. Delicious all-inclusive meal at plenty of restaraunts.Nice pools, beach is not over-crouded. Staff is friendly, but sometime it takes time to get understanding of what you really want :) 1) Only one car rental in the hotel (Prestige rent-a-car) with not good service (the longest and complicated procedure of getting car rented I ever had!). Although prices are a little bit lower then Europcar and Avis in Bavaro. 2) Stupid system of 200$ limit when you want to pay by charging the room. 3) Very shallow ocean on the beach.
The food, the beach, the sorroundings. Room service but it could have been because the hotel was overbooked
The food was the best we've had at any resort. The grounds were gorgeous and staff mostly friendly. We weren't aware that there were different levels of all-inclusive, which made some situations awkward. We were completely ignored at the villa marina and wonder if it was due to a lack of tip the first day (we were locked out of our safe). Also, any time there was an issue with our room (locked out of safe, remote needed batteries, etc.) it took several calls and lengthy time frames to get a response.
The resort was wonderful. The wireless sistem.
I like the beach and pools Not good nigth shows ,
The honest hospitality and friendliness, willingness to help from the staff were outstanding.
The service was fantastic, the food very good and it has a beautiful beach and huge pools. I didn't like that I had to leave the hotel and go back to work.
Loved the staff and entertainment. Broken items in the room which were replaced when we complained.
beaches were beautiful, pool facilities were great, access to food at all times was great with 4 kids staff not too with it-often had to request towels, eg, or ask several times for ice, asked for white wine, got red, etc
Nice facility with great pools and beach. Most staff were friendly Buffet restaurant had good selection of foods and pretty consistent good food quality. No convenient/cost effective way into town. Taxi ride for 3 mi trip was minimum $30 US dollars, pretty steep for a very short ride. Wait at restaurants other than buffet was horrendous for stand by. If you didn't have a reservation you were pretty much out of luck. Female greeter at the Mexican themed restaurant "Margaritas" was just plain rude to everyone. Ignored peoply and seemed in her own world. Most gym equipment (treadmill, bench, eliptical, etc.) were in a state of disrepair or malfunctioning. Availability of gym towels was spotty at best. Ping pong table had old paddles that were worthless and no ball readily available. Gave up wait for a ball to be delivered after 15 min from when staff member advised they'd be right back.
Excellent room, friendly service, great choice in the restaurant.
All Inclusive package
They change my room the first day to be closer to my family for the wedding The food was OK
We appreciated great location, especially the beautiful white sandy beach, fantastic all inclusive programme, food in big quality and quantity, friendly staff,... No complaints at all... Everything was all right...
Ok beach Poor service. Very average food. Better pools only for VIP members. Unhappy workers
Liked the Entertainment by the pool. Hated the FOOD - LOST 2 lbs at a all inclusive. The made service was bad!! Left a dirty towel on the floor - they picked it up - folded it and hung it up on the shower door. The towel was full of hair from my brush.... after showering and using the towel that was hung up..... needed a new shower to take off all the hair. I realized then, they just picked up the towel from the floor.
The waiters and servers in general were extremely attentive, amicable and pleasant, the true 5 stars of this pretty resort. There were minor details that compounded made the hotel more a 4 star than a 5. Example cheap gel, not the best fruit quality or choice of meats, etc.
Don't take room 1307. We overlooked trash from our room.
The staff were great. I wish the daily evening shows would have had something special about DR. A little more of a cultural educational or more traditional Dominican dances.. During the multinational show, we wish they would have made announcement of what kind of dances we were about to see...
THE TRIP WAS EXCELLENT ! VERY CARING AND HAPPY STAFF . Great entertainment every night .Restaurants and their presentation of food was very good (Not enough spice for me but I understand). Room service staff was excellent made sure you had clean towels and rags ,turned down the beds every night and left you a little treat something as small as rose petals or a kiss chocolate . The room was very spacious and nice . Huge jetted tub opened to the room . The grounds were well kept and very nicely landscaped . The staff did a good job trying to make you feel very welcomed and comfortable . Everyone was very warm and nice . Thanks Spiderman( Joshua), Billy -(Entertainment) Angie ( VIP desk) Scooby doo -(Beach Entertainment) ,Stanley (waiter) and Lezardo ( manager by gardens) and I know I am forgetting a few but these are just a few of the remarkable employees. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone was good. I did not care for the bed not very comfortable compared to other 4-5 star hotels . Did not like the fact that their was no Wifi unless you upgraded to a preferred membership . That should not have been a choice based on what you were paying for the resort. (cheaper hotels offer free WiFI) The toilet in our room had so many issues . Frist the handle was loose so we could not get a good flush ,someone came to fix it ,them in order the flush the toilet we had to flush about 5 times ,while standing by to get a full tank . Some one came to repair that . After that the toilet kept running all night and all day . Such a disturbance when trying to sleep. Did not care for all the sellers on the beach trying to get you to purchase something . 9Just too much) Lots of sea weed in the beach . kept wrapping around your feet .
Staff as expected was very splendid and helpful. The room detail indicated that the Wifi was included in the stay but it turned out the WiFi was only free in the hotel lobby. The room charged 4 dollars a night for room usage. And you were only allowed to connect one device to the WiFi per paid night. It is totally ridiculous to charge for such a service if it could have been included in the room rate and save everybody the anger and confusion.
all inclusive and food is excellent difficult to get to from Santo Domingo airport
Good seaside view. Nice big beautiful room (I had platinum suite). About 10 different tipes of fresh juices for the breakfast. The room was full of mosquitos! Was impossible to sleep. The food at the restaurant was really too salt. Some of the items were impossible to eat.
Some of the staff tries to do their best but they are poorly trained, hotel is understaffed, inconsistent with services provided from one day to the next, ie cleaning rooms. Maybe a 3* hotel, not more!! Bar service was poor (except Serapio) and premium alcohol was hidden for those who have a right to it and one had to constantly ask for premium alcohol to be used in drinks - answer was sometimes "I don't have any". Food was mediocre and there was no variety. The beach bar was not open, restaurants were open arbitrarily when they felt like it (not every night), meals were not served as we were told - no breakfast at all at the restaurant by the beach. My companion got food poisoning on our last day - the manager (Diana) refused to take responsibility for this and had an attitude. Additionally, the sister hotels were not accessible to us (renovation??) and the VIP beds were occupied by people who should not be using them. Dissapointing
staff, location the food was horrible
