Lovely staff, very beautiful building. There was no complimentary water or tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was very annoying. We have to queue to get into the restaurant for breakfast - first time I've ever had to queue in a hotel for breakfast and did not expect this from a 5 * hotel.
Breakfast was insanely good, the best part of our stay.
excellent service, excellent staff, luxurious room - Fantastic hotel.
the feeling of luxury, excellent service from all of the staff, reception staff were very professional as were porters bar prices are a little on the high side.. Thats dublin i suppose
Location is perfect but a bit overpriced for what you get. Room was a nice size and staff was very friendly. I think it is better without kids. Overpriced a bit for what you get. Had to call to have room made up after being out from 9:30-3:0 during the day... I guess someone just forgot.
Excellent staff . relaxing atmosphere. Superior service Breakfast at €29(orange juice and cereal) for a 12 yr old is way too pricey!
Nothing. I have stayed in better b&bs!!!
1st they are SO ACCOMODATING. Thanks to guest services, concierge DENNIS :-0 and the crew plus the front door attendants, managers, housekeeping are all amazing. Guest Service Rep came to greet us and had the goats milk avail for my daughter. In the USA we can only purchase at select store and did not realize it was more common to have in Dublin. We have made Dublin-the Shelbourne as our #1 headquarters. The quality of our stay, the fact they have vetted services for a nanny, great food, amazing polite service from all departments simply speaks volumes. Mr. Hanley and his staff at this fine establishment continue to amaze me. I really appreciate the peace of mind they bring to me and my little 1 and 2 year old children each visit. We surely feel special and love the amazing spacious rooms. THANK YOU ALL!! See you again next year. I have only positive things to communicate. They can keep up the great work. Great food options, great concierge, guest services, housekeeping, food services.....blessings to you all!
The hotel is grand and no detail is overlooked. The breakfast was superb but still talking of the impeccable service. A perfect 10 all around.
The staff was incredibly accommodating and pleasant.
When I arrived at 10AM, there was no room ready (understandable), but when I returned in the afternoon, I was shown to a room with a worker working on scaffolding directly outside my window. The second room was fine, but I was disappointed that the clerk had initially no problem assuming he could leave us in a room where we could all wave to a worker!
It was a gorgeous hotel - the breakfast was a bit pricey but it was lovely
Extremely courteous and helpful staff, without exception
The level of comfort and luxury of this hotel is amazing! The staff never stops to make an effort to make your stay as we said "Totally awesome!!" Nothing, it is a truly amazing hotel.
relaxed, comfortable, luxurious and calm n/a
Amazing, hands down the best hotel experience I've ever had. World class staff, facilities and rooms.
It felt like a 5star experience.
The staff were without exception incredibly cheerful and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful
The service was superb. The surroundings and the quality of the room was amazing. Coffee in the lounge with an open fire was a highlight. The airconditioning/heating was unable to be adjusted and the room was too hot. The bed was a little hard.
How relaxed one could be in the hotel and how easly one could stay there a whole weekend without leaving the hotel.
Everyone was so helpful. The facilities are the best. The restaurant was wonderful. We loved absolutely everything !!!!! we hope to return one day.
The service and the convenience to the City The only point I would make is that our room had a musty smell which we put down to a previous occupant being a smoker.
Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. Room very comfortable and restaurant food lovely.
lovely breakfast, nice room, location was good. no complaints at all. the temperature too warm
Location was great--close enough to walk to Temple Bar, Trinity College and many other points of interest. Staff was very helpful--upgraded our room without any trouble when we expressed our disappointment in our "superior" room. Breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful and the one dinner we had there was very good.
Central location. Helpful staff. Reasonable rates. Quiet area of Dublin Slightly gloomy decor - mood lighting in bedroom and public areas - would have liked some brighter lighting in bedroom
Location was good, staff was friendly. Our room was dissappointing. Got a Deluxe room. No air conditioning so we had to open window. Very noisy being on the street. Room was small, bathroom was small and not very nice.
The purple lobby and hallways are rather awesome. The breakfast set up is well done. Garish, uncomfortable rooms located directly over a firestation where a fire engine runs 24/7. On a busy weekend, sirens go off regularly, pigeons fly in the window if you ppem it and the staff are harried.
I was looking forward to my stay in the hotel after looking at the pictures on the website. It turned out to be a very beautiful and relaxing place to stay. The restaurant food was delicious!!! I have no complaints!
Comfortable city hotel with interesting decor. Better lighting in the rooms for reading.
Location was convenient and pub was vibrant Construction noise was extremely loud.
We stayed in one of the Georgian sweets which unfortunately didn't have an elevator but the concierge was amazing, from bringing out bags up to valeting the car to calling a cab for us to go enjoy the city. Beautiful room very comfortable bed and huge bathroom. The only negative I would say was the service in the bar. We stopped in upon arrival to grab a quick bite to eat which did not end up being quick. It seemed like the staff was more interested in talking to eachother than helping us, and when I finally flagged the bartender down he asked us if we were in a hurry, not the kind of service you would expect from a hotel of this status. On the up side the food and drinks were great and we just opted for room service for dinner.
Loved everything! Very comfortable. Great location! Staff & service in the hotel & restaurant were very attentive, pleasant, & just all around wonderful! Not being able to adjust the air in my room... I'm always cool by nature. Extra blankets were provided!
No air conditioning. Very hot at night
Good location for shopping and Landsdowne Rd
Staff Room was very dark and not as clean as i would have hoped
bed was comfortable needs updating-why was breakfast not included for the price? supposed to be a 4 * hotel- no way
The staff was friendly The bathroom sink because it had two nozzles and the shower clogged up with standing water
Good location and the room was clean and tidy. We had dinner in the bar on the night we stayed and the staff were a bit distracted in that they were arguing amoungst themselves at one stage and they did not look happy to be there at all and as a result the service was lacking.
Convenient, quiet location. Room was spacious. Appreciated being able to check in early after the long international flight (though another couple on the same airport bus just behind was not able to do so). Air conditioner seemed to warm the room up rather than cool it off. The room we had didn't have an exterior window, making it difficult to judge the time of day and weather. The room needed some minor maintenance work (peeling paint over the tub/shower, drawer that wouldn't stay shut, missing section of bathroom door frame).
Good location, within short walking distance of sites in southeast Dublin. Hard, uncomfortable pillows. No free internet.
The location on Merrian Square was outstanding. They provided everything that we needed for a 3-year old and a 1-year old, including the right beds. Check-in was fast. Breakfast was great, and the staff helped throughout our stay, which included two stays, broken by a week of traveling outside of Dublin. While the hotel may be a bit older in some regards than others, we were pleased with nearly all aspects of our stay. They do lack a concierge desk and bellhops ever ready to assist with luggage and taxis. However, the front desk always found help with our luggage and arranged our taxis without any problem . If you're looking for the best in hotels, the Davenport may lack a bit, but, we found it to be quite a good hotel and well worth booking.
rooms were very comfortable and staff were very helpful location - a bit out of town had to get taxis every where
Great location everything on doorstep. friendly staff who were very helpful.
Room have been good for me and my boyfriend. In the room of my parents have been broken a lot of things: light, table, and other.
There is free parking, unlike with many other city hotels. It is also a short walk to many of the city tourist destinations like the museum, National Gallery and St Stephens Grn as well as shopping in Grafton St. It is also a short walk back from the best nightspots such as Cafe enSeine.
Central location Good sized room and good bed Decent breakfast for an extra 11.90 euros Dated decor esp.in the toilet where I could see mould on the roof.Restaurant chair was broken as well.(Was told 'dont worry' by the staff when pointed out.As if..!) a very old kettle which took ages to boil. The news paper request was ignored.
The hotel didn't receive my booking so I had to move hotels.
staff were most helpful and friendly and food and service quite good stairs and no lift - rooms on top floor definitely not suitable for older people or with any kind of disability or health problems
The majorityu of the staff werte excellent. However one person at the front desk when we checked in was extremely negative to the point of being hostile. I think she was the manager. I found her to be not only disagreeable to me but also thought she spokje to her staff with disrespect. The individual at the front desk. Based on my experience with that front desk manager I would not recommend this hotel
great location, fine food , nice staff. What's not to like !
Truly superb location, intimate hotel with just a few rooms, older building with great character but well-maintained, comfy bed with nice sheets, great shower with lots of water pressure and great view. Loved it and would go back in a minute! Staff could be a bit more informed to answer questions about the surrounding area
Location To me it seemed like Bentley"s is winding down!! We arrived back from our night at 11.30pm ordered wine and some nibbles got our wine but were told "we don"t do nibbles!! our morning waiter was fab but I lost count of how many times he said sorry!! as any item I ordered from the menue was not possible.
Incredibly helpful staff. Beautiful room. Comfortable bed. Bathroom was spacious and had a 'spa' feel to it. Best breakfast in Ireland.
room was very spacious and clean. staff was very helpful and curtious. great location. no complaints
Slightly different style, nice atmosphere and friendliness of staff. What makes one hotel different from another is the detail and a maintenance guy spending an hour in our room would have resolved one or two issues. The bath had a gap between it and the wall exposing cold and unattractive motar. The shower was tepid when the water was hot from the bath taps; I always rate a hotel on the shower and a good or bad one either makes or breaks it!
Excellant hotel in a perfect location.Highly recommend, will return when back in Dublin. N/A
nice atmosphere, excellent bathroom, good bar to end evening, super location for a lot (Trinity University, Temple district, Shopping, old town etc. nada
The day we left The hotel staff seemed preoccupied with there trendy bar instead of looking after guest needs. The rooms are very shabby and the noise from the bar kept us awake allnight. We asked the night manager about this problem. His reply was very abrupt and simply said its always like this on a Friday and Saturday. If I had wanted a loud and noisey hotel I could have got much cheaper and better in the Temple bar area.
This hotel has a wonderful ambience, a superb breakfast and the regency grandeur of the bedrooms combined with modern comforts makes it a very special place indeed.
I liked the overall layout of the room it waz very different and the decor was lovely There wasnt a whole lot on the menus that i would eat
A nice room Very good location of the hotel in Dublin
The staff were very helpful, friendly but professional. The decor of the rooms was warm and individual. The air conditioning unit was really noisy even when turned off. I wouldnt have got any sleep if I hadnt had ear plugs with me.
central location, the design of the hotel and the rooms breakfast was dear for what you received
The location was great. Right in the middle of Dublin. Food was very good.
Location is good, it is not far from the city center, there is Trinity college and different good restaurants and shops near by It was too loudy at night...the room was not big enough for the two of us
It was perfectly located for the purposes of our trip. We also liked that there was an agreement between the hotel and the adjacent carpark so our parking fees were not too high. It was pretty stressful having to book in before 11pm especially as we had a long journey to undertake before getting there.
Smaller type of hotel, close to all major amenities - with a superb bistro opposite!
We booked a family room for our weekend with 4 girl-friends, very big room, very nice decorated. Personal family hotel. Breakfast was excellent too. nothing to remark
The room was modern, large and comfortable, and the location was perfect. Great value for money and I'll be back with the family.
Location, hotel style and breakfast. I felt there should have been some refreshments available in the room given the price. For instance, something as simple as mineral water would have been appreciated. Secondly, the shower for a room of that price was inadeqaute especially when a bath is not available.
the room was perfect, the staff very helpful would stay at this hotel on our next trip to Dublin
Location was great, room was clean, staff were extremely helpful and nice Room was a little small
Friendly and helpful staff Restaurant across the road was very average for food quality and service. However there are plenty of others not far away to choose from.
has an edwardian atmosphere of the 30s reflected in courteous and attentive service
The beds were very comfy and the location was great for exploring Dublin. Beautiful and unique hotel. Would stay again. Pay a little more and you get a larger room with larger bathroom as well, feels more relaxed. Lesser priced rooms much smaller. Restaurant was just okay. Breakfast was the best meal , dinner was okay , waiter seemed a little fed up with waiting on our group.
comfortable bar and lounge - easy reach of grafton st
we found it retained the friendly ethos we had repeatedly found over 45 years. the bedroom was a good size as was the bed.
Hotel very well located in Dublin in a nice district and close to museums and center of the city Noisy, noisy, noisy. The noise comes from outside (engines for air-conditionning) and from inside (floor of upper level).
The atmosphere friendliness and sense of old world hospitality and charm. A trip back in time to an Ireland that has disappeared with the celtic tiger. Will stay again and again Therese Thompson
staff were always helpful and friendly I was on top floor and it was necessary to keep the windows open due to heat therefore street noise was a bit annoying at times.
Have stayed in Buswells before. As always enjoyed our stay. The staff are excellent ever consious to the needs and comfort of each guest
Locarion was brilliant and the fact that you could get a room for 4 nothing
the staff and comfort of hotel we were given a room which was noisy at the front of hotel but upon request was moved to a better room
Staff v pleasant The room was dark and dreary. The bathroom was not v inviting
The staff was very friendly and were really interested in making your stay enjoyable. The room was clean and spacious.
Clean, good location. Good sized room and bed. Indifferent service by staff.
overall everything was good just one complaint. there was no washcloths yuck!
Facilities very good, staff friendly and helpful, close proximity to the centre of Dublin Car parking was a negative. I was originally directed to the Stephens Green car park and having parked and then walked the 15 min to the hotel, I was informed that the Alexander Hotel car park was actually around the corner. I then had to retrieve my car from Stephens Green and try to get into a very tight spaced car park, where I secured the final parking slot. This whole process took almost two hours to complete, a complete nightmare!!!
Room generally fine no complaints Bar under construction. Fire alert at 5.30 am distrubed sleep
Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were large with very comfortable beds. Bathrooms looking a bit "tired".
Not much. Really spoilt by the downsides of the hotel, which are many. The room was freezing. It was November, but the cleaning staff left the window fully open on both days I stayed. The heating was as effectual as a hairdryer, and twice as noisy, so the room stayed below even a comfortable level. No wonder the hotel are so proud of their cashmere throws on the bed - you need them to keep warm! The hotel rooms themselves are nicely designed, but the walls are ridiculously thin - woken up at 1AM by a normal volume conversation in the next room. The gym was nice, and reasonable for the size, but the lights ran on guest room cards, so there was a ridiculous relay in operation with people in there having to swap cards as each person left to avoid being plunged into darkness. It is not 4*!
The location to the town centre and that it had some local pubs within walking distance. Staff could have been a little more approachable and welcoming.
Liked the very comfortable bed
Hotel was very comfortable and staff extremely helpful. The Hotel is situated in a lovely part of the city - far enough away from the hustle and bustle but only a few minutes walk from the centre.
The O'Callaghan Mont Clare is located walking distance from all the sights, but away from the noise of the city center. There is a loading zone right in front on the street so that you can unload your car before returning your rental. You would not be advised to use a car for sightseeing in Dublin. The rooms are average size for Europe, clean and quiet. Front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. A cab to the airport costs about 25 EUR from here. There is no easy bus/train access to the airport from this location. There are good restaurants and pubs as well as a Centra and a SPAR within walking distance.
The location of the hotel was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar lunch was fine. Would stay again. The room was quite dark and small. Car park a little difficult to find even with directions.
Tremendously helpful staff. Cleanliness of rooms. I would like the internet access to be included in the room rate. Rarely does a hotel charge for it anymore. Yours was the only hotel on our trip to do so.
my stay was one of comfort and relaxation. all staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. an absolute pleasure to have stayed there.
excellent room, very clean, excellent location, breakfast superb Nothing
Great location, across from Merrion Square and convenient to city sights and public transportation, but reasonably quiet at night. Good-sized room with ample amenities. My window wouldn't close properly, and the bathroom was somewhat small and inconveniently configured. The bedspread could have used a proper wash. And I didn't like the check-in policy of requiring a contingent debit card payment of not only the full amount for the two booked nights but an additional fee equivalent to nearly another night, as well.
The room was always cleaned to a high standard and it was easy to get to all areas of Dublin from the hotel. We found some of the staff to be unhelpful and the hotel is quite dated.
the location, room was nice. you need to check out parking before hand as parking is not at hotel it is down the road a bit. but parking is reasonable at 10euro for 24hr.
I liked the location, and convenience, and the breakfast restaurant. There was some confusion about where wireless internet connection was available (I had the impression initially that it was only in the lobby), and there seemed to be inconsistency about the furnishing of each room (I had an armchair the first time I stayed there, but not the second, and was told that that was the way it was, each room varied).
Excellent value for money and its close proximity to RDS & Landsdowne Rd., only 20 mins walk
The Rooms -from the exterior we could not believe how luxurious and modern the rooms were. The pub was very nice, staff pleasant and polite.Had good breakfast there. The room was far superior say to a Premier Inn or similar and would have cost us a lot more in the city.We chose this hotel because it was in walking distance to concert and the city centre. Bit noisy, but what you come to expect in a city anywhere in the world.
The rooms have been newly refurbished and very nicely done. The location was great for exploring the city. It was not clear this is not a "hotel", ie. No room service, ph, etc. The internet was not working. There were issues with the new plumbing. For 2 nights I had no working toilet.. They changed me to a much smaller room that the bathroom worked. They did not offer any compensation for the issues. The first room was at the top of almost 40 stairs, with no lift and no help with luggage.
The room was nice with a re-vamp bathroom (but with some misconception) The waitress of the bar of the hotel, they don't know how to smile apparently
hotel had no details of our booking and initially said there were no rooms available. When the manager eventually found us a room it had not been cleaned
The room was convenient, good value for money, bright, simply, but well designed and well-thought out.
This is not a hotel, but 8 newly built guest rooms over a pub. Nice location. Well-equipped, modern, clean rooms. Friendly staff. A bit of new-faciity diseases: no warm water in the shower on one night, slamming door. A weak WiFi signal - worked ok only in the staircase, not in the room. The need to pay upfront for the whole stay.
The design and the location, which was quite good. Not centered but close to all the attractions. The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. The heating was ok, but could have been better. The room was on the first floor, next to the street, so it was a bit noisy. A room on the 2d or 3d floor coud have been great !
Basically this premises is some rooms over a pub, but nicely decorated and clean. Beds very comfy. We ate in the pub and it was very good. Would definitely stay there again.
Modern design, close to city centre Unfriedly, rooms above the bar is noise till late
The room was spacious, LCD screen, very modern bathroom with good shower. Wooden floors, street view. Overall a nice place (though we where on business there). The wifi was down due to road works. As this was a business trip that was annoying. However an hotel down the street had wifi and that was a 3 minute walk. Price of the menu was expensive but as close to the city as it was - enough food in the area. We ordered a twin room but got a room with a queen sized bed. Overall a good experience.
Friendly staff, good pub downstairs (which does not cause noise in our room) The shower drain did not work very well.
Great staff, great rooms. We had a very comfortable stay! Would absolutely return.
First impression of pub and room was a nice place to stay with good Irish character. Bed comfortable and room quite clean. Good breakfast Traffic noise was so loud at times could not hear TV and affected sleep somewhat. Broken shower enclosure taped up and no towel rail (evidence there had been one once). Had to check out early (before breakfast served at 8) on last day and not offered any non-cooked alternative (eg fruit/cereal) although paid B&B for whole stay.Thought pub would be livelier - we didn't see any live music
The breakfast was delicious and the dining area was convenient and Only one thing. Visitors should know that there is not an elevator! Once upstairs it was fine, but a little difficult with much luggage.
Friendly helpful staff Good breakfast Generally a good atmosphere Only two - bathroom ceiling was mouldy and there was no towel rail
Great people, looked after all your needs very helpfull without being intrusive, food excellent with a traditional Irish pub thrown in, what more do you want? We live in a very quiet area and found the traffic noise a bit too much, but a word with Hughie in the morn and he sorted us a room at the rear and problem solved
Clean, beautiful, spacious
Itís very well situated close to the main places to go in Dublin. Just 3 minutes walk fom Trinity College It is too noisy. Room windows don´t isolate you from the noise caused by the traficcit outside.Besides they are a little tight fisted about the running hours of heating systems. They switched off during night so the room is very cold when you wake up. Not to say when you to the bathroom for a morning shower.
We liked the location, convenient for shopping and within walking distance of tourist attractions and eating places. Not easy to access staff when the pub was closed.
d Location to city centre and convenience for all amenities. Management and staff were very helpful and friendly. One of our party is infirm and was accommodated in a lower room which was most appreciative
We were extremely pleased with our accomodations at O'Neills. It was exactly what the advertisement boasted - clean, friendly, and conveniently located! Would definately recommend it to anyone visiting Dublin!
Very cute / attractive building, and close walk to all the sights of Dublin. Great pub on first floor.
I traveled with a group of 8 people, aged 24 to 80 and the hotel was good for all. The hotel was funky and cool, we had two rooms both nice. Lots of very pleasant travelers in the hotel. The staff were absolutely great, helpful and cheerful. The Irish Music, dancing, and food in the pub below were a great way to start our trip. Museums and resaurants were just a block a way. Area felt safe to walk around at night. I would stay here every time I visit Dublin. No elevator - could be tough on people who have trouble with stairs; all rooms are up at least one flight.
Friendly staff, good bar and music, great hearty food, location Noise from night club! No ventilation in rooms. Suspect door locks - over all delapidated 70's feel.
Kildare street hotel was a nice find if you don't mind sharing a bathroom. (Although not all rooms have to share bathrooms). Great value for the room we were given. Booked it while riding on the shuttle bus from the airport to city center. Just a few blocks from the bus drop off. Rooms had nice decor. Free bottled water, treats & slippers. Staff was polite. Overall pleased with our stay.
Staff were excellent. Room was very shabby, wallpaper torn and stained. Beds and mattresses were cheap, lace curtains were filthy dirty. Could hear every footstep of people in room above us.
excellent value for a big room in the perfect location. Was unimpressed that there was not free entry to the night club for residents if the hotel, considering it was quite loud!
Location The lack of sufficient towels for no. of guests staying in the room, despite repeat reminders for 3 sets of towels, no tea-making facilities, no hair-dryer, broken curtain rail (therefore unable to draw curtains to cover the bright street lamps at night to sleep), noise level, creaking beds, shower gel holder fell apart in the bathroom, i.e. the hotel needs some renovation work. Although hotel staff are polite and friendly, it is inconvenient that the front door of the hotel is often shut both during day and in the evening and had to enter via pub entrance and wait for or request someone from the pub to provide us with the room keys (the keys had to be left behind the hotel desk).
The staff were very helpful, good location of hotel No lift
Close to all ameanities and services No tea and coffee making facilites. Very very noisey.
Very impressed at 2 (very comfortable) double beds in a twin room. Staff very helpful and friendly. It would be nice if there were a porter to assist with carrying luggage up the stairs.
Location General dirty appearance and difficulty getting back in after eleven. very noisy in the morning, woken up by street cleaner at 6 o'clock. Good for one night only
Bit noisey in the early hours
Location excelllent, toilet facilities very clean, own door key front and to room. No on site staff, deal with them from bar, budget accommodation. Very dark, only curtains no blinds, as one floor up, very visible from street, Floor area not immediatly visible not hoovered very dusty. No light in hall or landing. basic accommodation with double, single, and let down bed, Bring own toiletories.
handy venue for weekend trip to dublin, price reasonable,no strings attached n/a
The room was clean, spacious, the bathroom updated. Remember this is above a pub so you you do hear everything going on in the streets; early morning deliveries to restaurants & food stores across the street. Lots of stairs.
The whole experience, the bar has a great atmosphere with irish folk music, the service was excellent and I enjoyed my long weekend in Dublin.
Immaculate, friendly, and attendant. No.
Noisey area from the bar downstairs confused checkin not very welcoming
cheap and near the city centre and also close to bus stops loud environment, really bad smell in the stairs.
The location was good. It was nice to have a Pub to call 'home' while in Dublin. The bathrooms were very tiny. There is no centralized hotel staff, only the bartender in the pub to request services or ask questions.
