District XI - Újbuda
The Location just on the edge of the town on the riverside is excellent. if your expecting the sterile look of a premier inn or other large chain of hotels then don't stay here. The Gellert gives you glimpse of a bygone age. Wood panelling and colourful glass decorate the interior. Yes its a bit frayed around the edges, but then so am I and I am not 100 years old. The service was attentive and helpful and the facilities more than acceptable for its price bracket and rating. Yes you can get a more modern and predictable experience but I consider myself an individual character in life and so the Gellert has individual character. I came to see the city of Budapest and not spend all my time looking under the carpet for hotel faults, so savour its uniqueness, charm, history and enjoy. Thank you for the experience. Breakfast was a little to canteen like, but other than that good value for money.
english breakfast, clean bathroom, large portions in restaurants, hotel staff speaks english and german, great view (danube, hills) room needs refurbishment, hotel price is too expensive
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff, range and quality of breakfast, location of hotel and convenience of transport links. Noisy guests on bus tours leaving early in the morning - more consideration of others would be good.
Lunch was very good conference rooms well organised Breakfast buffet was poor, hot food was cold and there was little fresh fruit etc. Rooms are rather tired looking, heating is outdated and lacks control in the room.
the staff was great, very helpful (we needed a dentist on Sunday and they helped us find one), we also had a small problem with our room and they immediately changed it for us.The location is great (2 buss stops from the center) and a very good price/quality choice.
The location was perfect for what we wanted and good value for money.Staff very nice and spoke perfect English. Booked a double room and was given a twin - this should've been cheaper but they wouldn't budge on it when challenged. Room did have ants in but we were moved straight away when pointed this out.
I liked pretty much everything, room, food, service. Well a pleasant lady told me that I can pay by a credit card or cash and cash amount would be lower. I loved this since this is normal in Canada where I lived for 13 years and people can usually save up to GST & PST which is around 15% but she didn't know what price we reserved our hotel for (€60/night for 2 nights) and she said that it would be €60 cash and there was obviously no discount there.
Ideal Location for Trams which link to Metro and Rail. In a quietish area with access to local shops and restaurants. Somewhat tired and attic room where we stayed quite spartan. Breakfast ok for a few days but would become monotonous after a while. Would recommend but only for a short visit.
excelent service and excelent information desk maybe it was kinda noisy
The room was big and bathroom was clean There were soo many stairs to get to our room. The room was unbearably hot. No ac fine but no fan-tortuous. Uncomfortable to sleep like that.
Really good value for money hotel . Excellent staff were there to help with any queries we had . Rooms were spotless with fresh towels provided daily .Location of hotel is also very just 3 stops on the bus to city centre . i would recommend this hotel and hope to stay again next time i am in Budapest
Helpfull staff. It is good hotel for this kind of money. It is not true about walking distance to the Spa Gillert. It is far and you have to take taxi, from bus stop it is still too far.
The stay was a very pleasant one. The room we stayed in was very spacious (in comparison with other hotels I’ve stayed in worldwide) with a large bathroom. What I liked the most was the solid wood furniture they have throughout the hotel, provides a pleasant environment, also they have a lovely interior garden and an interior parking space. And the most important thing that I liked was the friendliness and the helpfulness of the staff there. When we were there Ms. Ecaterina greeted us and helped us with what we wanted to accomplish in Budapest.
Nice rooms, pansion has its own parking, Wifi works well. Rather poor breakfast.
I personally liked the hotel and the restaurant, it is a comfortable hotel, very close to the tram and easy to get to the downtown area. It is one of the quietest hotel I have ever stayed, even the airconditioning system is very quiet. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. It would be nice to have instructions on phone use (like what number to call the front desk - it happened to be a long number, not zero) left in the room.
The location near the railway station and not far from city, the comfortable, clean room and the not always professional but very helpful and kind stuff. My room was ready at midday. Unfortunately in the morning I have met a Polnish group. They have eaten nearly everything - it was few left. I could have coffee and some cereals.
Excellent room, very clean. Polite and helpful staff. Cooked breakfast wasn't hot enough. Coffee wasn't hot enough.
