arrived after midnight and no problem to get the key of the room . breakfast could be a bit beter and staff only speak france but they tried to help us.
This hotel is basic, but very clean.. breakfast could do with being improved, we have stayed there three times now, on way down to spain, very good value, nice place to eat, two minutes walk away from hotel.will stay again. Nothing really........only breakfast could do with being improved, would pay more for improvement ..
It was a stop over in an interesting city during our holiday toward Southern France and thrn Spain. No
very good shower only 2 towels for 3 people key card not 100% reliable broken lavatory flush
Ideal location, close to the motorway for a stop over night. You need to look closely at the good location information on booking.com web site as address is not sufficient to find hotel or alternatively check using google maps street view!
The location was ideal as a stop-over during our journey to Spain. We had two dogs with us and there were plenty of places nearby where they could be excercised. No complaints or adverse comments at all.
Location and ease of late night entry.
automatic entry out of hours I have 2 children therfore had to book 2 rooms doubling the cost - next time i would spen a little more time looking for a 4 bed room.
the room was very clean and staff friendly bathroom tiny and location for pedestrians a bit awkward!
Very friendly and helpful staff The bathroom in our room stank!
It is just besides a le mans train station. Thanks for air conditionar, I did not need to recoginizie it during my stay. In the morning and also at the night, sometimes hot water was not available, I can not imagine that it happens for recent equipped hotel. I would not stay this hotel without improvement of this issue, even location and others are good.
kettle didnt work
Easy to find. Air conditioning did not work, location is not for evening walks, the hotel is quite far from old town.
Quiet hotel walking distance from the beautiful medieval town. It is right on top of the southern entrance to the railway station. I heard no noise at night. This is a very quiet safe town and the travel guides have unjustly overlooked it. The staff are charming and helpful and there is free internet in the foyer. From mid-morning until the evening there is free coffee, tea and little chocolate croissants near the lift for everyone to help themselves, so there is no need to go out looking for coffee and cake.
Hotel was very clean, staff professional, reasonable position for an evening walk into the centre of Le Mans. Map provided for a walk into town. Le Mans is totally 'dug up' at present due to the installation of the tram system, this made the approach to the hotel difficult and I think if you were there for more than an overnight stay you would have been disappointed with the level of disruption to the city. Hotel staff did not suggest visit to old town which is a must!!
Convenient for the town centre and the racing track No
Location, room size, welcoming lobby with childrens play area. Limited breakfast offering.
The position, near the TGV station, the staff policy
Hotel is cose to the train station No warm water in the shower
Easy to find, next to rail station. Quiet, no sound of trains. Restaurant closed at weekends. Only 10 car park spaces.
location and parking were excellent no pool of leisure facilties.
Very friendly staff, has obviously been upgraded, good modern feel. Right in the heart of city easy to get around. Excellent parking facilities.
The room was comfortable The breakfast was not very good, the bacon and sausage were so hard it was impossible to eat them.
Easy access from the station; centrally located; ideal stop over if travelling on to other destinations Having to order in meals;
very central, although on a one way street so getting to the car park was tricky no tea & coffee facilities in the room
Clean room Everything closed on Sunday, including room service!
The hotel is within walking distance of every thing and has good parking. We loved the interior of the hotel and the local people are great fun, this is a great Town to walk around. No
lovely hotel. I had booked a room with 2 single beds as I was travelling with my brother. The room allocated was a double room. After much insistence the lady on duty in reception sorted out the problem for which I was grateful but this mistake should not have been made
excellent hotel, previously an insurance companies headquarters, with many splendid features.
Proximity to the center. Size of the room. Possibility to use a garage place. Pitty you cannot open the windows in the room
The staff were very helpful and friendly. They advised us of a couple of very good restaurants inside the medieval walled city.
The hotel owner was very enthusiastic and helpful re Le Mans. The location is great with a tram stop nearby. I would stay again.
Nice hotel, warm staff, clean and free internet in the rooms.
The hotel and room was clean tidy and well heated. The Staff at Breakfast were courteous and quick to serve.
Nice clean room, good value breakfast
Quite centrally located, quiet hotel, good family accommodation with 2 separate rooms in the family room. All in all a very pleasant stay. Breakfast a little pricey
Good welcome, nice room, comfortable beds, easy to find and depart.
good price with good location. breakfast start too late
The location of the hotel was great, and the general cleanliness and presentation of the hotel was good. Lack of chioce on TV channels
Positive sides: excellent location - walking distance from the train station and centre, as well as from my friends. In less than 2 minutes there is a post office, a pharmacy, a retail shop and the tram's station. Located on a quiet street in a quiet neighbourhood. There was a free cable internet, the room was clean. For 2 euros per day you can have illimited calls to French landlines. You can breakfast from 7 to 11:30am and if you get up earlier, breakfast can be served even before 7am. Very flexible check in and out. Hotel parking. Lift. More people during the weekend, than the weekdays. Nice hotel staff. I was occupying chamber 10, the main room is very nice, big, bright, with big windows and nice bed, I like it. When getting up in the mornings it was a little colder than what I would prefer. The 2nd negative side is since room 10 is for up to 4 people and we where 3, in order to get to the bathroom the people from one of the rooms needed to enter into the another to get access to the toilet, and this is something I didn't like especially at night. The 3rd negative side is that there was more water on the floor in the bathroom after taking a shower than expected. The 4th negative side is the location of the lan in the room (which gives you access to the internet). It should be close to the bureau, and there should be one in each room. I like cabled internet, but when I can't use it on a desk - not good. 5Th - 2nd room with sofa-bed.
Really helpful lady on the desk, made our trip with info on trams & medieval city.
beer was not cold
The response from the staff and their conduct. The room, bar and meal costs were heavy for the level of hotel. The level of cleanliness in the lounge area (I am alergic to dust'.
Internet for one hour free. The internet could be for each day one hour free.
funcional and clean, used as a stopover between south and north france as travelling with small child and it did the job fine.
the beds were very uncomfortable. It was like sleeping on the floor. Otherwise great location for traveling through the countryside.
All the staff were courtious and top class !!!!!!!! No coffee in room !! thats all
Staying with 3 dogs meant a ground floor room was essential-we got one!! There was a nice strip of grass outside to walk the dogs, the room was quiet, well away from road noise. The meals we had at the hotel were excellent and staff very friendly.
breakfast was great, good selection.. bread was delicious.
Reasonably quiet for a location near a main road. It was terribly difficult to find, possibly because there is another Mercure in Le Mans. The personnel there could not tell us the way to our Mercure.
Good value for money rooms, with plenty of hot water
Good location near restraunts
Only stayed 1 night, had a nice drink in the bar and a great meal in the Hotel restaurant. All staff encountered where very helpful and freindly.
Brilliant location in centre of town. Not so much shabby chic as plain shabby. Hotel in terminal decline since turn of the last century. A makeover long overdue. Not very good value for money.
Evening meal good value and excellant service.Super location for city. parking is not very good on site
friendly staff N/A
The location was great, just in town, but not too noisy. Great parking right out the front too. This is no longer a 4 Star hotel. It's decor, service, standard of fittings and facilities was not of 4 star quality. The restaurant and bar were both closed and we couldn't even get coffee in the morning. The room was tatty and outdated and fixtures and fittings were old and some broken. Poor directions and no hotel website meant it took us ages to find it.
Everyone very friendly and hospitable, would like room 115 again next year for time of 24 hr moto, at a discount rate for constant use Lack of a full time Chef, be nice to have more bar snacks on hand, english breakfast, sandwiches
staff were helpful, and the food was excellent
good location, near old town and restaurants sometimes difficult to park as we have high vehicle
The shower worked well with good pressure and plenty of hot water. The room was small and very plain. Lots of hard surfaces for noise to bounce off and the door closers need to be adjusted to prevent slamming.
Clean & Tidy None
Actually nothing, I liked that the elevator rises immediately to the floor. It was very cold, since cold air is turned on until 22:00 and on the street winter. But when it shut down at 22:00 a smell of cigarettes and can not sleep. This hotel is more a 2 star pulls, but not by 3.
Location was good. Secure parking excellent though limited spaces so check in advance if important. Very basic hotel reminiscent of student hall of residence. Washroom was tiny and was in need of maintenance. Room was dim. No English tv channels. Sound insulation poor; also Staff could care more.
Helpfulness of the receptionist, wireless internet, breakfast facilities small beds, small bathroom
At my arrival it turned out there was a mistake in my booking: the hotel got the wrong date: I was booked one day earlier!!! So the charge for the room was already withdrawn from my credit card as a no-show...But the receptionist was very understanding and ended up not to charge the day of my no-show but to change the date of arrival!!! I was pleasantly surprised: not only about the euro's I saved (this hotel is not very expensive) but much more about the positive attitude of the receptionist! Chapeau!!! (Later it turned out that the mistake in my booking was with Booking.com: it is possible that a different date is booked than the one on your confirmation-email!!!)
Excellent location and unbeatable value for your money. Such a good price.
Staff is helpless when it comes to problem solution. We have tried to use cola machine that was broken and had to spend another money to show it is not working. Result was fantastic - no returns of 4EUR late night, wait until 7AM to meet manager :)
Good parking. not noisy. Not english speaking in the reseption, no free wifi, could not come in on the hotel at nigth by the code given.
Charming and helpful receptionist/manager. Small smelly room with a tiny bathroom and filthy shower. €140 a night for 2 of the nights because of a Le Mans event instead of €40, which is what it's worth.
Convenient for onward journey
have been given the key for the room and when i opned the door the room was very dity and the bed undone and the key didn't work in three occation until when the chamber mad opened the the door for me iam not happy at all more training for the staff and how to put the customers first if you what the business to do well in the future
Fairly disappointed, bed was poor and uncomfortable, would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very cheap, paid 29 Euros. Hotel has just been renovated. Clean and fresh rooms. Hotel was quiet. Shared toilets and showers. I don't mind sharing at this price but it;s still a nuisance to have to leave the room in the middle of the night.
Central location No complaints
I only had an overnight stay. The room was very clean and had everything I needed including tv and tea/coffee making facilities. I had previously stayed at the Campanile hotel in Bayeaux and that was one of the reasons I chose Campanile again
Cheap, easy to access, restaurant on site Small, cramped, very basic room
We think the restaurant at Campanile Le Mans Centre is the best Campanile restaurant we 've yet found Third floor up, with not very negotiable stairways
Well placed for a stop over We find the restaurant is the best Campanile restaurant we know. but it wasn't open on the Sunday we were there !!! I asked particularly for a ground floor room (because we are older) but we got a third floor room, and the hotel only had six guests. I found this rather strange
In need of air conditioning
Nice Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, let down by very poor basic rooms. Stayed in Pamplona< Spain the following night same price but far superior room and hotel No english channel tv
Typical Campanile, if you've seen 1 you've seen them all. 10 minute drive into centre car parks. Location was fine everything else was the typical mediocrity that is Campanile. Some style to the room would be good but just the usual bare Campanile room. Some attempt to make the Guest feel special would be nice but this doesn't exist with this chain and we knew that when we booked so can't complain.
No english language station on the tv
Internet is not free, while in the Campanil in front of the Kyriad it's free.
Not enough tea bags coffee and cholate
Hotel was fairly close to city centre and room cost was good The restaurant/bar were closed for refurbishment but there was no mention of this when booking and the corridors/rooms need refurbishment.
Breakfast was good Restaurant was closed on both dates that I stayed, this was frustrating as we were travelling and did not want to go out to eat.
It was easy to find when driving in to a new city & not speaking French very well & car parking was easy to locate. Nothing.
Staff very helpful The restuarant was nnot open for evening meals and this was not made clear on the website. We had to drive into Le Mans to find some where to get an evening meal. After a long drive we would have preferred not to have to drive again
Very helpful pleasant staff. Room was very clean. Breakfast good
Hotel location good and convenient. Room comfortable and pleasant. Breakfast enjoyable and value for money. Staff on arrival (Sunday afternoon) could have been more welcoming and a bit more helpful. Lack of interest at reception on arrival.
Easy to find our way on to the next stage of our journey We seemed to be the only guests but were put on the 2nd floor with no lift
Good locatiom for access to shops and restuarants Room had a shower that could not be used effectively,.Non-smoling room smelt of snoke. Lack of sufficient pillows for comfortable sleeping.
Very helpful staff. Good value Could use an extra chair & pillows
convenience of shower toilet in room we have major problems using the self check in and had to get porter up at 4 in the morning to let us in as the key pad at the door wasn't functioning properly very stresful with children at 3 - 4am in the morning.
It was cheap, cheerful and only minute away from the tram to town. The en-suite bathroom was very small. My boyfriend could not shower as there was not enough space in it.
price. Excellent value we were unable to get in through the automatic reception after hours as it would not except english crdit cards, this was frustrating as we were all tired.
Easy to find, breakfast ok Linen was not clean
low price , good breakfast. sink drain plugged up. it would drain slowly. also credit card gadget took 20 tries before we could get in front door.
Easy to find, good (but small) shower, healthy (if basic) breakfast selection, close transport into city and great value for money. Perfectly functional.
no shower towel offered, or when asked for was declined!
The shower was new and the bed was comfortable. The room was basic and unwelcoming - there were no pictures, no easy chair, no bedside tables, hard stools to sit at the small table, no rugs on the wooden floor and only blinds at the window. The walls were painted orange, brown and cream with orange and brown wardrobes. We would not classify this as two-star.
The staff were very accomodating and very friendly. The room was modern and very clean. a very good service at a very reasonable price.Thank you for making our over night stop very pleasant. Will be back again.
The staff were among the most friendly and effecient I have seen in France. The self service breakfast is also to be commended with a good choice of food excelling in both quality and quantity. Evening meals were not available in the hotel.
How friendly were the staff
No tea or coffee in the room
It was easy to find for a one night stay Hotel was pretty poor. We walked on the wood flooring and it felt like the panels were going to snap, they were all bendy. Hotel decorated and kitted out very cheaply. Double bed was extremely small and we aren't big people. The bed was very uncomfortable. We had been in the car for 12 hours so to be honest we just had an early night so didn't really see how good the location was although the hotel was easy to find. Wouldn';t recommend this hotel for no more than a sleep over on a long journey.
Clean, quiet and comfortable, beautiful garden, very helpful staff. Room probably due for slight refurbishment, wardrobe doors didn't quite close properly.
Quiet garden situation within a walk of le mans centre
The hotel was close enought to the City Centre for ease of driving and City Centre parking was easy to find. Very quiet in the evening for a good nights rest. Perfect if you have children as the grounds of the hotel are large and custom planned for young children with swings and plenty of play areas. The rooms are very modern in decor and clean. The breakfast room looked great as did the layout of the food although we did not stay for breakfast but wish we had. My only concern was that the windows on the first floor were floor level and a child could easily fall out if un supervised. Perhaps the hotel could put safety bars across to prevent any such accidents from happening.
A quiet place, a little out of town, but very easy to use bus and/or tram.Relaxing and quiet, a garden to sit in and read and relax. Breakfast good but basic, no reason to go hungry. host great value, east to talk to, his English we excellent. Nothing really.
A large piece of carpet on the stairs outside the bedrooms constituted a danger.
The staff were very very helpful and went out of their way to help us with a late departure on our last day. Breakfast could only be describeed as adequate though, somewhat skimped. Would be more than happy to stay there again.
Good location, and secure parking nearby ( underground ) Breakfast very basic. For the price it was okay.
The host was very helpful and took pride in his business. Noisy toilets when flushed (like Niagra Falls) and some doors squeaked.
The man at reception understood our reason for cancellation of booking. The moto GP was on and they had doubled their prices for this time. After seeing the hotel we did not stay. The room was on the 3rd floor and too diffficult to negotiate. The room was cramped and dingy and the toilet seat was broken
The hotel itself is a pleasant building and the rooms were basic but clean. The ensuite shower was very nice. The welcome at reception was not particularly warm and could have been better. Hellos and goodbyes but very few smiles. The room was a bit stuffy (July) but the window couldn't be left open due to the very noisy street and station outside.
convenient location to tram, rail station, restaurants, cafes; friendly reception at hotel, including allowing us to store luggage; nice old-fashioned atmosphere at hotel; Le Mans is an interesting and friendly town to visit. A problem I wish to warn others about: Our Booking.Com reservation was for 4 nights, double room at 46 Euros/night. I showed this booking receipt to the reception on arrival. Without comment, they gave us a room with a double AND single bed (which we had not asked for) On checkout I found the price for this room was 56 Euros/night. Showing the original booking was to no avail. Watch out!
I found the hotel very welcoming and friendly. I was checke in with a minimum of fuss. Nothing really
hotel was easy to access;this was lucky since we had no detailed directions . Hotel was simple, clean and comfortable; breakfast was fine though overpriced at 6.50 euros.Easy access to town centre. Reception was closed on arrival at 16.45,and we were left standing outside till the owner returned. No parking outside the hotel so we had to streetpark a few streets away. Parking at the hotel was according to the owner "complet"
Hotel closed after 10:30 pm. Fortunately I had the good idea to call the hotel around 6 pm saying that we would arrive late. The answer was that if we arrived after 10:30 pm nobody would be there and we would not be able to check-in. This inconvenience obliged us to change our plans and rish to the hotel before 10:30. What is unacceptable is that this restriction was not mentioned anywhere during the booking process and nobody prevented us. Another bad point is that it is one of the worst hotels I have ever been. "Cheap" does not necessarily has to mean ugly furniture and equipment in bad condition (for instance a wc door not working properly). I have been in even cheaper hotels that are much much better than this one.
This was a lovely little hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was brilliant!
It was good value for money and they had family rooms for 4 people. The staff were very friendly. A good breakfast. The area - this was not the best side of town! - there was someone playing loud music from their car at 3am, and there was a fight between 2 girls outside the restaurant we were eating in.
comfortable bed; the breakfast alot of work done but the rooms needed finishing off decor wise
Clean hotel. Arrived after 10pm so had to contact owner to let us in.
This was a good hotel for a short stay. Spacious family room that was very clean and modern. Central location with friendly staff. Good value for money.
Fantastic breakfast, lovelly staff who were happy to bumble through awkward bi-lingual conversations. 5 mins from town (medieval 1/4). Breakfast room lovely. No fuss or charge do a travel cot for the baby. It feels like it's a work in progress. All new showers and toilets but room decor and hallways etc all tired. As we left we noticed a big pile of new stuff to go in the rooms ( wall brackets for the LCD teles and other stuff). Might be lovely one day.
Very friendly & helpful staff. Room very clean & practical.
We stayed in a spacious family room which was comfortable and quiet. The owner was very friendly and helfpul. The hotel is being renovated and is becoming very attractive and modern. We would definately stay here again. It is a little way out of the main centre and old quarter, but a regular tram runs from the end of the road.
Great hotel, comfy bed, lovely morrocan style courtyard, good breccy, helpfull staff, what more could you want, perfect , and great value too
Nice informal atmosphere, breakfast laid out at a communal table which was good. Staff were friendly. Good shower in room. A bit awkward to get to & parking was a little difficult.
I Was impressed with the helpfulness of the staff
Large comfortable, clean room. Quiet night even with window open. Polite and helpful staff. Breakfast.
Central location with parking. Friendly staff. the bar and the restaurant were closed
Centrally located It was a nightmare to find by car and satellite navigation systems do not recognise the pedestrian areas and tram tracks
Excellent location for central Le Mans, literally just off the main square. All staff I enountered were extrmely friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, spoke good English. Room clean and tidy, freshly decorated (bit of tiling in the bathroom still to be done). Nice (quirky) little restaurant in the hotel. As mentioned on other posts, v. difficult to find by car, my Sat Nav is only 2009 and didn't pick up the v. recent tramways running through the square and the new one way. Approach from river side and give the hotel a call, they were helpful in talking me in. This is not a 4 star hotel so don't expect decor and features as such, not really a moan as I felt excellent value for money in a great location with very nice staff, will be staying again.
The staff were so friendly - it really makes for an enjoyable stay. Some did not have very strong english - but they made such an effort to converse as much as they could in english - it was extremely admirable. Please note that they do now have a lift in the hotel and that the car park is locked and secure at all times. Will definitely be returning to the hotel - it's location could not be more central to the town of Le Mans - and once the road works and Tram works are complete in a years time - it will be a joy to stay there. Personally, the only complaints I would have in relation to the room we were in is that there was not enough day light and no tea/coffee making facilities. The room, as described by a previous guest, was a little dated - but to be fair - for the price we were paying - you couldn't really complain. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and tidy - I would always go for that before decor. Overall, value for money.
Very helpful staff - car park on site- quite -location Room was small and a bit of a musty smell in bath room
very central if you need be there. popular restaurant, not cheap but good food. difficult to find because of pedestrian roads - sat nav struggled. very basic bedroom, bathroom needs a good update, passable if on your own but it won't impress the wife. spend a bit more elsewhere.
Very helpful and friendly staff
Pleasant staff, good value for money, comfortable and clean. Very nice to English speakers.
Very clean, clean bathroom, good parking, very friendly (english speaking) staff. 24h reception. However Business/conference type hotel. WIFI. Only good value for the massively reduced fee we paid. If original price applied it is a much overpriced. Too expensive breakfast, too. Must have a car as it is in nowhere land.
Nice location for the MotoGP at Le Mans. A smooth 15 min ride away. Staff was incompetent, except one receptionist. For the rate we would expect a more professional staff and cleaner rooms.
Location Food was over priced
it was good
Quiet location, helpful staff with good English. Good facilities just off the motorway but far enough to not get the noise. Excellent stopping off point on our way south.
