Pros: Friendly and very helpful staff. Comfortable beds and clean room. Glad we stayed here!
Cons: Parking. We were confused about the parking fees charged by the hotel valet and the independent carpark managed by Wilson at B3. The hotel should look into advising guests about the difference in charges before arrival.

4.0 Okay
Pros: Location was great The friendly men at the concierge were great.
Cons: Room was really plain & outdated - definitely not $300+ worth. Could hear the neighbours phone call like he was in our room at 6am, could almost hear the conversation from the person he was talking to!! Room was really warm & bed average - even tho we paid a huge amount just glad it was only for 1 night.

Pros: Once we were moved into a better room (see below), we were very happy with the comfort, views and facilities. The beakfast was fabulous as was the spa and pool.
Cons: We were initially allocated a room that didn't look or smell completely clean and was pretty tired. However once we brought this to the staff's attention, they were wonderful and moved us to a much better room. The coffee was bitter.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The waffles
Cons: Plug was broken, hit my head on the tap trying to get it out. Very dusty and old looking. My parents paid the same but had a much nicer room with complimentary drinks etc. very noisy and they didn’t add breakfast to my stay as I had requested so I had to question that. They also wondered why I hadn’t paid prior to arriving? But I never got any instructions to pay prior?

Pros: Excellent staff and breakfast was great.
Cons: Our apartment was large but had a 'corporate' feel to it rather than a place to go for a weekend away with friends.

Pros: Friendly and efficient staff, good rooms excellent breakfast
Cons: Executive suites bedroom good, but the other room is bland and somewhat dperessing

Pros: Layout, facilities, staff
Cons: It felt like the aircon was struggling to keep the room cool, the people in the room above our bedroom where moving around a lot and it was making the ceiling creak.
7.5 Good
Pros: Not a bad location.
Cons: Cleaning service was hit and miss. No option for breakfast eggs to be cooked to order. Mini bars are such an old fashioned idea- just give us a few free items like water bottles and some snacks. At the prices being paid it’s the least that can be done.

Pros: This is a nice hotel in a good location. the staff are friendly but somewhat ineffectual in relation to our issues.
The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. the bathroom was generous and well appointed.
There is a reasonable gym and a small lap pool
Cons: We had a bad room: the air-conditioning did not work for all of the three nights we stayed there. So the nights were stuffy and had to leave a door open until the noise was too much. This room is right under the restaurant kitchen so we got a lot of floor noise especially at cleaning up time from 10 pm till after midnight and then again for breakfast in the morning. We know kitchens make noise so they can't be criticised but it was a bad choice to locate a room underneath. We did not eat there at all. There are many good restaurants nearby with prices and menus that are more attractive. I understand the hotel has been refurbished but I did not think for the price we should have had to discover the problems.

Pros: lovely vibe and atomsphere. we enjoyed sitting in the bar and looking at all the art.
Cons: Great room but the air conditioning was not working properly both in the first room and the alternate we were offered. So we endured a warm stay by opening the window - only to be troubled by traffic noise. overall great stay but just wish the room temperature could have been lower. Thanks

Pros: I liked that the property was in a great location within walking distance to cafes and attractions. Excellent views from our room also. Rooms were very nice and comfortable.
Cons: My only real complaint is the bar adjacent to the restaurant wasn’t up to par. I waited for over 5 mins before I was acknowledged and took forever to get my drinks. I think it may have been a new staff member but their attitude was not acceptable when dealing with overseas and local visitors. It appeared that the bar was understaffed because the barman appeared stressed and flustered. Also the whole bar area was not very tidy and tables sat uncleared and cleaned for quite some time. I was also disappointed that I could not get a table in the restaurant for dinner when I was a guest in the hotel.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location across from the waterfront and easy walk into town, cafes and nearby places of interest. Clean and comfortable room with a fantastic view across the harbour and city.
Cons: Only having one (small) lift operating in the morning when a tour bus was leaving was hopeless. Light on the air conditioning unit made the room very light at night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfortable
Cons: The tv was a bit dated.
5.7 Okay
Pros:
Cons: The Vista suites are part of another building and do not have airconditioning. The rooms are small by todays standards. It was quite a warm day and night and the windows and door had to be opened. Given Wellington is so windy this has its drawbacks and especially noise overnight.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, nice views
Cons:
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very spacious with a view of Oriental Bay. Conveniently located and walking distance to many shop, restaurants and Te Papa Museum. Front Desk Staff was exceptional! They were friendly, helpful and courteous!
Cons: lack of personality from the bartenders.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location ideal - close to the docks and the Tuai 250 activities.
Cons: Disorganised dinner. Turned up at 7pm (without booking it must be said); told they were busy and could we come back in 30mins. Gave the staff a little extra time and came back after 50mins only to be told we had to wait another 30 - 40mins. So we declined and tried to find alternate dining arrangements. By then, the local restaurants were closing their kitchens and we had to go much further afield to find somewhere to eat. Lesson: don't just rock up and expect to be served - make a booking!!
7.1 Good
Pros: Clean bathroom and set up.
Cons: Staff came and knocked on the door in the first hour of our stay to refill mini-bar. I thought this should’ve been done before we came in?
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good view overlooking Oriental Bay Comfortable Bed Clean Room Good size of the Room
Cons: Low water presser in Shower

Pros: Staff was super friendly. I liked that the hotel receptionist showed me around the hotel. They were also flexible with late check-out. Excellent service!!
Cons: Nothing, all was great!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very clean, super friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic view of the city from the restaurant which has amazing food. Highly recommend!!
Cons: Perhaps the location might be an issue for some people as it’s on top a steep hill, but not a problem if you take a taxi. Everything was perfect!

Pros: Breakfast was good.
Cons: The air con was either too hot or too cold, couldn't get it right. Also noisy particularly at night.

Pros: Hotel was first class, without any significant features. The gym and pool complex was excellent and empty. The room was spacious and the bathroom products very nice. The reception staff were extremely helpful too.
Cons: We thought we had booked breakfast in our booking.com price, which wasn't cheap. Disappointing, therefore not to find b'fast included in our payment. The staff were apologetic, and we consider the fault to be with booking.com who didn't include the b'fast in our reservation, despite our paying for it.

6.5 Good
Pros: The location was perfect. The room was clean and the beds are very comfortable.
Cons: We interacted with 2 staff members from the front desk. One was incredibly helpful and kind. The other was rude and acted as though we were just 'stupid tourists' despite the fact that I would imagine a lot of their business is from tourism. When we valet parked our car, they required that we go down to get our luggage from the vehicle and then had to walk back up the ramp against traffic - very odd considering we paid $34 for one night of parking. Then, seeing how we are not from NZ, and discussed our travels, we were not aware that we had to put our card into this slot near the door to engage any power. This was not obvious to us, and it is not customary in hotels in the US. When we called down to ask if they had an idea why our AC wasn't working, the woman (who also worked with us at the front desk) was clearly irritated with us and acted as though we were idiots. While this seems like a small collection of interactions, it left a very poor taste in my mouth in regards to my stay at Novotel Wellington.

Pros: Location, comfortable bed, good shower but head was far too low for a tall person
Cons: No air con, just fan so on the hot day the room was very stuffy...
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was great, view, cleanliness
Cons: Our first morning of stay at 7 am we were woken up by a fire alarm going off , ourselves and 4 others from the hotel meet at the outside of the hotel, we were told by the fire brigade that they were unsure if there was a fire but we were safe to go back to our rooms, but in that time we did not see one staff member from the hotel, as we were on the 21st floor it was a-bit of a worry not to be reassured that all was ok, reception staff needs to be more enthusiastic and smile more, but otherwise was a good stay.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Handy parking, clean bathroom with reasonable lighting, comfortable bedding, plus a fan and windows that can be opened to make up for the absence of airconditioning. Very good location close to Boulcott Street Bistro (yum!) and the cable car.
Cons: NO AIR CONDITIONING - this can make the room stuffy, especially on humid days. Ours was a very small room. The main room light only seems to be able to be switched off by taking the card key out of its slot. At least we couldn't find any light switches. This has the consequence that the bathroom lights wouldn't work during the night; perhaps there was a switch we missed. Given there was a kitchenette in our room, it is a shame there was no coffee plunger.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: comfortable beds, clean rooms, has everything you'd need for a comfortable stay (hair dryer, microwave, mini fridge, water heater, tea/coffee, great views), friendly and helpful staff, convenient location...i would definitely stay here again!
Cons: nothing comes to mind...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A tower block hotel, just yards from the main shopping street. It's surrounded but tower blocks. Steep flight of stairs to reach the hotel from that street. We were given a bigger room [which was quiet and had a very comfortable bed].
Cons: The lower floors of the tower are the car park - the hotel has limited parking spaces and you had to park in the private park & show a parking permit when we arrived. We were told we would have to update the permit after 24 hours, but we cut our day short to come back to do this only to find that some of the hotels spaces were available. Signs in the car park suggest you could get cheaper [weekend] parking direct from the car park operators than the $28 that the hotel charged.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good price, tidy and great location.
Cons: Rooms are very small and we received a parking fine when parked in the allocated hotel parking. We were provided with incorrect parking sticker. It was eventually sorted, but still annoying.

Cons: The lifts

Cons: Wifi is slowly to watch a video, play a game. If you want to do these things on the internet, I don't recommend you to stay in this hotel. For business use only, I recommend this hotel if you use the internet to check messages and web site information. Finally, this room keeping is not suitable for me. The staffs didn't exchange linen. I don't understand this reason. I think the quality of room keeping depends on the staff's experience and professionalism.

Pros:
Cons: Apartment 604 Condition of the facilities were poor. Simple maintenance was required. Gave a general rundown appearance. 1 Shower door dropped leaving large hole between door and shower wall at lower corner. 2 Kitchen tap not secure (wobbly). 3 Bathroom door handle loose. 4 Balcony - vent pipe penetrating the balcony detached from roof support. 5 Most window/door latches getting worn.

Pros: The breakfast is good but totally overpriced.
The food in the restaurant is also good.
Cons: This is a very basic offering with a terrible location. It's far from everything except a supermarket.
The rooms are small.
The staff are on the whole friendly but ironically the senior staff have a tendency to get a bit snappy. Overall I'd question how much they're getting paid, either it's low or the management culture sucks all the fun out of working there- my observation after 3 weeks there is that it would be both.
I would question just what exactly "by Rydges" is supposed to denote in terms of quality- the suggestion here being that Rydges has obviously gone down hill to be associated with this hotel.
7.7 Good
Pros: Roomy, clean, comfortable
Cons: Terrible hours on food service (ends early and there is nothing around), no vending machines or anything after 9:30 PM, no ice machines, no nothing.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: No seatting, just beds. Very expensive. Needs renovating.

Pros: Decent location, easily accessible via bus with a short walk. Buffet breakfast. Friendly staff
Cons: Something wrong with my rooms (513) window seal I think, the wind was very strong when I stayed so heard lots of wind whisting and sqeauling. 2 bad nights sleeps

Pros: Breakfast was very good.
Cons: Car parking limited.

Pros: check in was good
Cons: We rebooked after staying a week earlier and enjoyed our stay on that occasion but this time we were given a smaller room and the windows rattled loudly all night making sleep impossible. It was a windy evening in Wellington that night but really maintenance is required in this instance.

Pros: The hotel is well situated in downtown Wellington. Slightly on the border but in an animated area, right in front of Mount Victoria (path starting right on the other side of the street). This classical hotel is not without charm, with a pub at street level.
Cons: As a downside floor and furniture is a bit old. Staff is also not overly warm.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean room, late check in and concur BT to most places in Wellington
Cons: Shared bathroom. Would have been nice to have a en-suite but I knew this wasn’t the case anyway
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice room
Cons: Room bit smelly due to stale air
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I could leave stuff in luggage storage without paying for extra by the hour.
Cons: Hallway to dorm rooms stinks like feet (but I guess that's the fault of the renters --- they should put more ventilation or charcoal there to neutralize the stink). And hopefully install lockable lockers in the dorm rooms for security.

Pros: Single room with en-suite is good $$ if you travel by yourself and staff were nice. I needed to check in a bit early and they were accommodating.
Cons:
5.0 Okay
Pros: It was inexpensive in an emergency stay over in the city.
Cons: It was so windy, I couldn’t open the window to get some air while I slept because the blinds were banging. So it was a stuffy night as there seemed to be no air flow. I almost slipped over stepping into the shower because the tiles were not clean? The shower head was broken so I couldn’t get water onto myself without holding the shower head with one hand. Room 201.

Pros: great location. great staff
Cons:
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The space was all you need. Clean. Amenities provided. Friendly and helpful staff. You can leave luggage before and after your stay which is super convenient.
Cons: The bed was a little bit springy but it was fine for a night or two. The wind picked up in the night and seemed to move the window joint's. So it was a bit noisy due to that but still sleepable

Pros: Friendly staff member upon check in, helpful with car parking. Excellent view of Wellington.
Cons: We were put in a room next door to a generator or air con unit, there was a constant noise like having a dryer going, and a scratching/creaking against the wall where the bed was. Could not sleep so checked out at 430 am and drove home to get some sleep, was not asked if we enjoyed our stay.

Pros: Its centrality
Cons: The bathroom had a bad smelling drain twice through the day, but it cleared at night. I also had to pay personally rather than through my university's account as pre-arranged, as there seemed to be a problem with the systems at reception.

Pros: Central locality, nice staff, comfy bed, nice bathroom
Cons: No wine in mini bar! Repair work needed on ceiling in bathroom above shower - a bit shoddy
6.8 Good
Pros: Convenient - proximity to Te Papa. Accessability. Ready availability and response from staff. Efficient. Good hospitable and friendly atmosphere.
Cons: Bathroom starting to appear a bit tired - in terms of maintenance (peeling paper, cracked tiles, etc) rather than in terms of the actual amenities.

Cons: Nothing but the weather was very blustery . Not the hotel's fault naturally, just Wellington.
6.7 Good
Pros: The bed itself was really big and comfortable They view was lovely The staff were very friendly and attentive and it was a lovely breakfast.
Cons: The toilets and bathrooms were pretty dirty I couldn't figure out why there was such a heavy urine smell in the bathroom until I bathed and noticed the shower curtain had a huge urine stain on it and it smelt really bad. Also there wasnt any cover on our duvet It was literally just the inner and it was covered in stains They need to also perhaps consider incorporating parking into their fees. I think it's quite overpriced charging guests close to $20 just to park at their hotel
5.8 Okay
Pros: I got a very happy welcome at reception.
Cons: The windows rattled, the door struggled to shut by itself, the curtains let significant light in and there were limited power socket. Over all I would say the pictures of the rooms on the website were a little misleading to the actual reality.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast
Cons: Strange mix of luxurious and outdated

5.0 Okay
Pros: It was cheap and well located
Cons: Other than the fact it was cheap (we booked a private double room) and was centrally located the actual place itself was a dump. The first room we were given hadn’t been cleaned so it still had a ton of rubbish from the previous occupant and it didn’t have a mattress (????). Went down to reception and got moved to another room despite them saying they were fully booked? It was better than the last room but very dated, stained walls and roof plus mould in the corners. It’s a place to rest your head but don’t expect anything decent from the property.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff were super friendly and helpful and the location was in walking distance of all must do's in the city.
Cons: The beds were super uncomfy, toilets not clean and common area cramped and outdated. We felt a little uncomfortable and actually thought of leaving after paying. Everything needs upgrading.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Our room was dirty, rubbish, old clothes, empty bottles, no sheets. Was giving another room and then someone came into our room and woke us up at 2:30am was the staff trying to give the room to someone else we later found out. Would not recommend
