Pros: Beautiful ryokan. We enjoyed everything and each moment: the location is beautiful and so peaceful. The welcome of all the staff makes you feel comfortable, one man speaks english very well and all the other people try their best to communicate in english. The dinner was outstanding, amazing, it was served in a private room with a garden view (what a surprise) and they provided us a written english menu :) ..the breakfast was as a second dinner!!! good relaxing private onsen wich you can book for 1 hour. The beedrom was lovely, warm with a fantastic view. The futon was very comfortable and we had no issue to sleep. They prepare the bedroom while we had the dinner..they left a snack, biscuits and tea. The place is very quite and you can really relax and appreciate the time there. Fantastic experience , we really hope to go back one day.

Cons: the room was a bit cold
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This ryokan is owned by an old couple who were very warm and welcoming. Even though they don't speak much English, with the little bit of Japanese I know we could communicate without major problems. Just a note: in winter the traditional house was very cold, but we were provided with space heaters and it wasn't a problem. And the dinner was fantastic!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was a 20 mins walk from the bus/train station with some uphill parts. Remember to arrange for transfer (arrival and departure date only). All staffs were superb (check in staff speaks good English). You can get your coffee/tea fix in the common area downstairs. Love the onsen bath which is alternately switched daily between male and female. The most amazing part of the stay was the food....the dinner/breakfast spread was just amazing served by motherly Japanese ladies (you can feel the pride and love when the chefs prepared them)..I would come to stay here just for the food.
Cons: The room is clean but average looking...maybe a bit old but this is not a big problem. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent! The staff was very nice and the facilities were beautiful.
6.0 Good
Pros: The room is a little small for 4 person in a family. Noise isolation is bad. However, the food are execellent.
Cons: The staffs can speak English.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Before arrival, I have lot of questions about the stay and staff members of the hotel will answer me within a reasonable time, efficient and politely. I am very satisfied with the meals, especially the dinner. Many types of food in the set and all of them are delicious. In addition, order a sake with the dinner is recommended.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great - food, baths, room. Great value for the price. Location is not too far from the center, just 5-10 mins walk.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing! The baths were clean and warm. The staff was friendly and communicative, they even gave us a printed photo to commemorate our stay. Overall, they went out of the way to make us comfortable.
Cons: The vinyl slippers were too slippery, and would come off your foot as you walk up and down the stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything in this place was a wonderful experience!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A unique hotel full of Showa atmosphere, with every reasonable price. One of a kind even among Japanese onsen ryokans.
Cons: The room’s toilet has a smell unfamiliar to me. Not bad but more like some kind of food rather than refreshing. I suppose the hotel is understaffed atm, which is understandable because it will cost so much if all the decorations around the hotel are to be cleaned every week.

Cons: Very pricey without the feeling of luxury
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything is perfect. From the rooms, to onzen, food quality and presentation and staff services.
Cons: Yes the dining room was too smoky with so much barbecue going on at every table. The room was abit stuffy.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The most exception dinner, delectable dishes made with local ingredients. One of the best onsen ryokan dinners and breakfast I have had! The public onsen has a beautiful open view of the serene mountain surroundings, we never had to share with anyone and the ryokan was quiet and peaceful. The best service by the hotel staff.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every single detail is perfect, the food is out of this world and the room couldn't be better, you have your own private onsen. It is the best experience we've ever had in our lives.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lots of privacy for room with private Onsen. Japanese bed was nicely setup and very comfortable. Friendly staff and nice services. Wonderful dinner served in eating facilities. Staff even cleaned our shoes for us.
Cons: Would have been perfect if meals can be served in room. Wooden bath tub in room seemed a bit dated.
6.3 Good
Pros: private bath Staff was very kind
Cons: I have been fukuji area twice and stayed in 4 hotels, this is the only one that I will not recommend. Indeed not worth the money. 1. The dinner was not good enough considering the price. Lots dishes went together maybe I don’t know, for saving time? the breakfast was better. 2. The private bath was not very clean, neither of the chairs in the room. 3. The dinner room was extremely smoky when we had our dinner which concluded some bbq.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staffs are very nice and helpful. They can speak English. The Private Onsen is very good
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A delightful traditional inn. Our room was a generous size. The bathroom was a little dated but spotlessly clean. I was more interested in the onsen - which I used twice a day during our stay! This was first experience of a traditional inn and onsen. A good experience. Sleeping on a futon laid on the tatami was more comfortable than expected. We both had very good sleeps. The location of the hotel is exceptional being only about a 3 min walk from the station. This notwithstanding, our room was very quiet. We we glad we chose to stay three nights. The feel of the town at night is very pleasant. We did not have breakfast at the hotel. There were nice touches like complimentary herbal tea and origami sessions at scheduled times. We enjoyed having yakutas to wear. The staff are very accommodating and although their proficiency in English is not high, and our Japanese is woeful, we had fun conversations and managed to understand each other. This is part of the delights of travel. We would stay again.
Cons: Not a lot. There are some aspects of the hotel which are ageing however this is part of the charm and all is exceptionally clean.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and service. You will not be disappointed with your stay.
Cons: Could have helped more with recommendations on eating in town, but everything with else was great.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice Japanese breakfast, room is very clean, hotel staffs clean our lugguages before sending to our rooms to keep tatami floor in perfect condition.
Cons: No dinner service.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is terrific. The pick up and drop off service to the station. The staff were nice and courteous. The room is huge, comfy and clean. Loved the new toilet and the toiletries in our room.
Cons: The dinner for the first night, if you are allergic to seafood, you become a vegetarian? A ryokan of this caliber should have better substitutes for seafood allergy. The strong chemical smell in the onsen water and how the onsen water makes our skin very dry and itchy. We all ended up using the onsen only once.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean, helpful staffs , good location
Cons: None

Pros: Love everything
Cons: Don’t like the bleach smell inside the onsen

Pros: The staff was very nice, friendly and great full 5 stars-hotel service, can remember every guests and room no. I was impressive so much. The staffs can't speak English well but she tried to explain in English, I thought it's very cute. I hurried up to the room and the staff didn't served the dessert yet so she took the dessert to my room. I was very surprised!! The hotel is located near the old town city, morning market 3 min walk and Takayama Jinja. It's very convenient. The food was great with luxury service and menu, Hida Beef and sashimi. and sushi restaurant is in front of the hotel.

Sora-Ama Hostel - Takayama - Bedroom
9
9.1 Excellent (1,009 reviews)
RM 155+
Overview Reviews
SORA-AMA HOSTEL is in the heart of Takayama, within a 10-minute walk of Takumikan Craft Museum and Takayama Jinya. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sora AMA is just a few minutes walk from the station and it's easy to locate. During check in, they provided us instructional guides for key entry, key drop offs for check-out, even how to set-up the futon beds etc receptionist also speaks fluent English! :-) They provided us maps, tips in touring Takayama so it was really useful even if we were there for an overnight stay. They have a good number of toilets and showers that is expected to be shared to the other occupants the reason I chose this property. At our floor, there was about 3 each separately so it's not too crowded for a number of guests. We were fortunate that we were only ones at the 4th floor during our stay. They also provide tea and coffee at their small kitchen pantry - clean as you go, please! Oh and try out Center4 Hamburger's Hida Burger(they only serve a number of these in a day/Double Cheeseburgers are great! :-)
Cons: I read about the stairway up to the 3rd (main entrance to hotel) and 4th floor but this was all manageable for me so this is not something I can complain about. This is not about the property but more of our itinerary that I wish we could have spent more time in Takayama and experienced the morning market at least.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean , good location, very nice host
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It is located very close to the main tourist sites. The property was very clean and the staff was very welcoming.
Cons: This hostel shows up under the parking available listing. Though there is plenty of paid public parking around the property, there is no onsite parking. It should be clarified for the customers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is fluent in English communication, very nice and helping. The room and shared bathroom also clean and comfortable. It is just take few mins to walk straight from the Takayama station and eateries also around the area.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: No elevator so it was a bit of a struggle carrying my luggage to the 3rd floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a great location. It was close to some nice restaurants and the old town wasn't far away. It was very easy to get from the station to the hostel as well. The staff was very nice and I appreciated the help that they gave. The kitchen area is a bit small but usually not as packed and has the essentials. I would stay again if I go back.
Cons: If you're not ready for a no elevator experience, be cautious because it's on the 3rd floor. It didn't bother me much but if you're exhausted after a long day, it might not be something you'd look forward to. Also, my wife is a light sleeper so it was difficult for her to sleep due to people being in and out but that's just how hostels are.

Pros: The outside onsen is gorgeous. The beds they prepare are comfortable and special. The smell is very good all over the hotel. It is a relaxing athmosphere
Cons: The food was not that great. We ordered a vegeterian meal but they didn't remember, than we had to wait 2 hours for them to prepare it and it wasn't that good...

9.6 Excellent
Pros: 1. The food is amazing! 2. Service is great! 3. Comfortable stay! 4. Very boutique hotel! 5. Love the natural hot spring!
Cons: None! I saw some people said the location is not good. But for me, I really like this location. It’s not in the city center, therefore more quiet. And they have shuttle bus from the hotel to the station. It’s very convenient for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hospitality was one of a kind, the private onsen in our room was divine and absolutely worth the whole experience. Dinner was excellent and a great value for the money. While getting the meals is optional, I highly recommended getting it as the value to cost is so worth it! You're getting a lot of food for what you pay for... I could barely finish my meals! Small details like an apple juice in the fridge, an explanation of amenities and schedule, and coffee at checkout speak to their commitment towards a perfect stay. The staff is knowledgeable in English so there shouldn't be problems with understanding each other, but my girlfriend spoke Japanese so she made my experience smoother. I would love to come back in the future on day.
Cons: I didn't like that I could only stay for one night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service from the staff were excellent especially our hostess Riho, Takao and Kazuyuki. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. A wonderful cultural experience for us. Thank you.
Cons: Not much

Pros: Everything! This is the 2nd consecutive year that we went back. In fact, we were so comfortable with the place that we decided to stay 5 nights this time round! My girl loves everything in Honjin.. from the exterior to interior, from hot spring bath to food.... it meant so much to us to how much all 3 of us enjoyed. In fact, the hotel was kind to inform us that the dinner menu might be repeated as they do not have very extensive menu. However, we had all different menu for all 5 nights! We are very grateful to the chef and team who has put in such effort for us. In a nutshell, it is highly recommended for people who like hot spring bath, a quiet yet near amenities hotel, great food and great people. See you guys next year! I hope =)
Cons: Nothing! Everything was great!

Pros: Excellent location. It is really workable to everywhere from this hotel.
Cons: Nothing. Only grouse is no outdoor hot spring bath for ladies
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Most of the staff are very friendly and polite. Location is very good.
Cons: The property was very busy and push my breakfast to 8.30am but the restaurant was closed at 9am which gave me only half hour to rush through my breakfast. I had to request for 8am breakfast and still the reception told me 8am was very busy. I have to tell her that 8am is firmed. And I had my breakfast at 8am. I expected the room to split into two sections/parts (one section for meals and living and other for sleeping) which I had stayed before in other Tatami hotels. But the room was all in one which made me to really the room.

Pros: The Kura hot spring was very nice and the guide was helpful along with the staff. The room is quite spacious and clean, plus the food is great. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Pros: Tai was a phenomenal host, he went above and beyond in helping us have the best time in Takayama: – Picked us up right from the bus station – Gave us excellent recommendations of things to do + where to eat in Takayama – Very accommodating as a host SOY itself was magical – the space is impeccably decorated and cozy. The breakfast they served was delicious. We're hitting ourselves for not staying longer.
Cons: Nothing – it was a perfect stay.

Pros: Cozy place, Taisan and his family is very helpful and good breakfast.

Pros: Everything about this experience was perfect! The actual house is beautiful with a cozy vibe. Tai and his family go far above any expectation to make you feel at home and breakfast is delicious. Tai has thought of everything to make your stay smooth - he gave us a local cell phone to contact him when we needed anything. Don't get turned off by the distance, Tai is just a text away to come pick you up. Best place we stayed in our trip.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: I have been to Takayama many times over 35 years and have stayed in many hotels there...but none have offered the genuine hospitality that Tai san and his parents do. They are so warm and friendly and make your stay a real Japanese experience. Their home is a 100 year old wooden double story home with only 3 guest rooms....of various sizes. ( although they are extending into another renovated wooden building next door..) I was by myself in a twin room ..the smallest ..with futon bed on the tatami mat floor....it was incredibly comfortable and I can’t remember when I have had a better sleep! The other rooms can fit more people and have additional lounge type areas in them...not that you need this as downstairs has a fabulous large lounge area with a wonderful open fire!! FYI...none of the rooms have en-suite bathrooms but you don’t have to share...each room has its own toilet and shower room but the doors to them are outside your room...it’s good! A delicious breakfast was included...and they do operate as a (very ) local coffee shop/ lunch place during the day. There are no nearby restaurants to Soy Guesthouse but a 7/11 convenience store a short walk down the hill. As the guesthouse is a 5 to 10 minute drive from the centre of Takayama city, Tai san provides a free shuttle for you ...he is very obliging...and will pick you up from train/ bus and take you to morning markets and restaurants for dinner etc...his service is 2nd to none! ...and the orange persimmons his mother strings up to dry outside the front door are just delicious!! I really enjoyed my 4 night stay with this wonderful family and look forward to my next visit there!! Thank you very much !!!!

Pros: Tai & his family provided my sons and I with a delightful experience. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Our room had the use of a separate bathroom and an upstairs lounge. It is a place that is inviting, has amazingly good food for breakfast, and the nicest hosts you could meet. As the guest house is a short trip out of the centre of town, Tai generously provides a shuttle service. His knowledge of the town and the attractions /restaurants is very good and with his help we were able to experience many delicious meals. If you have the chance to stay, I doubt you would be disappointed.
Cons: There is nothing that can usefully be said here. My stay was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tai-san and his family are most hospitable, and their house is beautiful. I found the experience staying with them to be very relaxing and comfortable.
Cons: House is a little close to a highway, but that can be remedied with earplugs. It wouldn't stop me from staying there again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As with all the reviews this place is amazing. Do not hesitate to book. Do not look elsewhere. I only hope you are staying longer than a night like we were. The house looks like the photos but even more stunning. They house is owned and occupied by the family with guest rooms spread over 2 floors. The architecture is beautiful and the details beautiful. Sitting by the fire in the evening with a glass / bottle of sake is the way to relax. Tai is amazing. He collects you from the station. If early will take your bags and drop you in town to have fun. He is a personal chauffeur in that he will drop and collect you from town when needed. His recommendation on where to eat dinner was spot on. On the way to the bus station when we were leaving he drove us up to a lookout to see the snow covered mountains and also queued at the bus stop to make sure we got the right tickets. His parents are amazing. His mum cooks the breakfast - get the Japanese breakfast - you will not be dissapoiented.
Cons: That we only had 1 night.

Pros: Beautiful accommodation, very clean, so comfortable and delicious breakfast. Felt very special to stay in a place with so much history and so beautifully renovated. Tai was amazing- very helpful and attentive.

Pros: Very nice staff. Amazing and varied food. The indoor baths are very comfortable and the outdoor baths are an experience you cannot miss. Every one of the six baths is private, of which two have space for two people and four space for four (so great for couples and families). Rooms are warm and beds are comfy. There is enough space to relax and cool down after a hot bath. The check-in and check-out process is as simple as it goes. Mr. and Mrs. Minoura are always available if you have any troubles or questions. They even drove me and my partner up from the nearest bus stop and back down again. It's easily accessible from Takayama using the Nohi Bus on the Shinhotaka Line. Come here if you need a night or two to turn off and recharge.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a highlight of our trip to experience staying in a traditional ryokan. The onsens were lovely and private, with views of the Japanese forest. We never had to wait for an onsen either - there was always one free for us to use. Akihiro and Naoko are wonderful hosts and provided us with information about what we might like to do, including advice for our hike up Mt Yakedake and to Kamikochi. The food was excellent with a beautifully drawn menu in English explaining what delicacies we were trying! Our room was spacious and we slept on the tatami floor which was a different experience! Overall a wonderful place to visit and we definitely hope to stay here again in the future.
Cons: We travelled here by the Alpico/Nohibus companies and although easy to navigate, I would have preferred to come by car as the bus timetables can sometimes be limiting if you are short of time and want to see as much as possible. Also - get off at "Nakao Onsen Ashiyu Mae" which is 2 stops after Nakao Kogen Guchi. Happy travels!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was beautifully situated amongst the mountains. The rooms were extremely comfortable and staff so friendly. I would recommend staying for more than one night: it is a 1.5 hour bus ride from Takayama, so staying for one night feels rushed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The baths and the food.
Cons: Futons a bit flat
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous property in an absolutely beautiful part of Japan! Hosts were helpful - picked us and dropped us at nearest bus stop. 6 private baths to 6 rooms - from outdoor baths surrounded by nature to indoor also with perfect views. Meals were simple but sumptuous!
Cons: They made available fresh yukatas which we could help ourselves to. Availability of fresh towels in same manner would have been useful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I'm a vegetarian and the staff really went the extra mile so that I will have enough options. The outdoor private onsens are amazing, super relaxing, surrounded by trees and mountain view.
Cons: We rented a car, so the location wasn't an issue for us at all, but in general it might bit challenging because it's not close to any attractions
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners are a very nice couple who gave us detail information about the transport and asked about our food preference prior to our arrival. Mr Minoura picked us up at the bus stop when we arrived and drove us there when we departed. Upon arrival, we planned to go to the Shinhotaka Ropeway by bus. Fearing it might rain later, Mr Minoura kindly drove us there so that we could visit the place while the weather was still fine. The hotel is very nicely furbished with many lovely decorations, some of them hand made. There are both private indoor and outdoor onsens which are both clean and comfortable. Mrs Minoura made very delicious meals using local produce. She even compiled a very lovely menu detailing each course with her own handwriting and drawings. We enjoyed our stay very much at Nakaodaira!

Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Wow. Beautiful calm place. Beautiful spacious room. Unforgettable private onsens. Great dinner.
Cons: It takes a while to get there via public transport - but worth every minute.

Pros: Not far from station. Have public bath for relaxation. Love free fresh coffee.
Cons: Dinner course is too basic and little.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The dinner is very good, onsen refreshes our mind and body, the staffs are really nice and we have a good night sleep on the futons.
Cons: The bathroom is a but small and there is very limited charging points.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked only 1 Ryokan place and it exceeded my expectations. The dinner was absolutely amazing, we felt like we were dining at a 5 start restaurant having a degustation menu. The staff and service was flawless with great attention to detail. The onsen was small but great and they have a partner hotel nearby with more onsen which we also used and enjoyed thoroughly :) Even the complimentary coffee and sitting area in the foyer were very nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As ever in Japan a spotlessly clean place and a good experience of seeing what it is like to stay in a Ryokan environment. Dinner, Bed and Breakfast all Japanese style and were all fantastic, but If you're not used to Japanese breakfast ...... try it it's fine, just different which is why you are looking at this place to stay if you're not from Japan anyway. Fantastic staff, free parking (major bonus) and right in town so well located for exploring and the like. Go for it, this place is first rate, has it's own spring bath and free access to another hotel that has a further 5 bath experiences. Would definately stay again.
5.0 Okay
Cons: We stayed two nights second night we changed room they didn’t show us anything about this room. First night next door noise was loud difficult to tell downstairs and no apology. Breakfast nothing explained what we had and ours was different to others why?
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was SUPERB! Staff are friendly and communicate very well
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Kaiseki dinner was excellent, service was very good. Onsen at sister peoperty was nice. Didn’t try onsen at property as we missed the closing time.
Cons: The rooms and toilet inside is very dated. For a short stay it’s ok. I wouldn’t stay for more than a night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Food
5.8 Okay
Pros: Awesome meals. Nice staff. Onsen is moderate, small in size. Location is walking distance from morning market and old street.
Cons: Walls not soundproof. Bathroom is tiny and uncomfortable to maneuver inside, no places to put own toiletries or new set of clothes to change after shower. Place looks really old where keys to room are old style keys which doesn’t seem to have good security. Parking is valet and keys need to hand over to hotel.

Pros: Comfortable facilities, easy access to the bus station and main attractions on walking distances or by bikes, available at the hotel :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was near to many good eateries. About 20 mins walk with luggage in tow, otherwise, it’s about 12 mins from the JR station or bus centre. Room were basic but clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Service was great!
5.0 Okay
Cons: No sound proofing. You can literally hear all the noises from the other rooms. We stayed in a double room on level 6. At night a group of girls kept going along the hallway, laughing and talking. Tho I didn't understand a word they said as it was all in Japanese but I could hear everything in their converasation. Every time guests in other rooms opened and closed their doors, you could hear them talking, moving furnitures and stuff. I hardly make any comments or do rating on any website but this really annoyed me.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were a family of four and we booked two twin rooms, they gave us rooms very close to each other. Rooms were not huge but comfortable. Bathrooms small but with everything you need. The staff were lovely. Free use of bikes. A small Onsen on-site which was lovely at the end of a day touristing. An easy three minute stroll into the main areas of the old historic town. This place was really great value for money, very comfortable and a great base.

Pros: Location and small onsen
Cons: None

Overview Reviews
Located in Hida Takayama Onsen, this ryokan is within a 10-minute walk of Shorenji Temple and Takayama Jinya. Takumikan Craft Museum and Takayama Traditional Culture and Crafts Square are also within 10 minutes. Takayama Station is 16 minutes by foot.
5.4 Okay
Cons: The place is quite far from station. If you bring luggage, better don’t book this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very kind and remembered us personally. From our room number to our food preferences. This was a very nice and warm experience. The view from the hotel is magnificent.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location is good- 10 min walk from the main streets and sights. 15 min walk to train station and shuttle bus if need dropping there in morning. Bathroom is traditional but comfortable. People need to remember that this is not a hotel and staff are actually inviting you in to share in a traditional experience. Try to remember to say hello and thank you in Japanese and you will have a very pleasant experience with staff. They carried my luggage upstairs and were so polite toward me.
Cons: I think over priced for the level of comfort- yes is a traditional ryokan but essentially you are just paying for a hilltop view. If you have never stayed in a ryokan before then I do recommend this one. However, if you have stayed in one before, the cost of this one is probably not worth it. A little inflexible with some things- is part of traditional Japanese rigid culture. The open air bath must be booked in advance and it costs do use and is only allowed for 40mins. But the inside onsens are available at night (no lockers for valuables so don’t bring them down to the bath) No lockers or safes in the rooms (remember these are traditional) so always lock your valuables in suitcase. You need to leave the key with the desk when you leave the property - again because it is a traditional room and no electronic locks. If you have a disability or have issues getting up stairs, I would not book this property. These are NOT dislikes - but things I think people should know
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good view. I like public bath of this facility.
Cons: None.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is farther away from the train station and is up a hill. But we knew what we were getting into so no complaints there. The views of the town were great though.
Cons: Some members of the staff weren't as helpful. They were polite and courteous but didn't seem like they wanted to deal with us anymore than they had to. When asked for suggestions or opinions about certain things, we were met with shrugs and "Whatever you feel like.".
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean. Impressive dinner and view from lobby
Cons: The corridor was heated too much, would be more comfortable with lower temperature and help save the energy
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing would suit the basic standard of guesthouse
Cons: The water temperature of the public bath is not hot enough and seems the taste of bleach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was a large, traditional Japanese room but with comfortable western style beds. Both the public and private onsen were fantastic. The dinner offered at the hotel was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel and the view you get from being on top of a hill are great.
