broken glass on floor ,no light in bathroom, dirty toilet
I have stayed with this hotel in the past and have been very successful stays so I don't have a problem with this hotel although this review would look like it. The problem is with the third party partner by the name of Traveluro who supposedly booked the room. When I contacted the hotel directly to confirm they had no confirmation nor room for me. This is Illinois State Fair time so I bet they didn't have a room when Traveluro said they did have one for me. When I contacted Traveluro they said they would look into it after "escalating" the issue and said they would call me back in an hour or so. I never received a call back from them for over 4 hours so I called them back again because I was done with the business for that day and was ready to have a room. Called them back and the process started again to "escalate" the issue, I was on hold for 15 minutes or so, which in the meantime I contacted a different hotel about 40 minute drive from where I needed it. I finally told them to just cancel the reservation and refund my money but they told me it would depend upon the hotels policy. How's that when they never had a reservation in my name to begin with? Also the price through Traveluro was twice what I normally pay when I book directly through the hotel. Wasn't a good first try to use Kayak.
The hotel is old and noisy. It was clean but the shower had a crack in the floor and toilet hardly worked. To stay here for one night was okay. But I wouldn’t stay longer and only stay if you get a great rate. Some of the rooms are close to a railroad track that is very active at all hours. So be weary of that.
