This hotel is stunning. We loved everything about it.
the hotel is excellent - if you can affortd it or if you happen to get a good deal nothing. it was perfect
Convenient location and excellent staff. Not too keen on the restaurant menu - it hadn't changed on our return almost 3 weeks later!
It was quite central, and the room was gorgeous the parking is expensive
Good value Take earplugs!
Excelent location. Very confortable. Better directions
Overall I enjoyed my stay a lot. The reception was helpful and the breakfast was great. But, there were only one thing to be improved at this hotel, the super slow wireless network (charged). I could barely check my emails, and it was impossible to serf the net for more travel info.
Beautiful and comfortable
The staff is pleasant but could not improve our situation (see below) even though the hotel seemed largely empty. Several months ahead of time we requested a quiet room with 2 beds. Upon arrival we were given a room on the second floor, fronting the street and with trickling water pipes and other bathroom sounds being offensive.
Good location, excellent rooms, great service Everything was fine
Good sized room, very good location, very good value for the money. Strongly recommend. Nothing to say here!
Location was Great Cost of Breakfast, Staff not so friendly
Very close to Plaza Mayor. Great location. Breakfast was ok but a bit simple. Nice room. Parking was a few streets over but was valet-parking so no need to try hair-raising parking which was nice.
Very comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Very loud noise of bird scarer at night. However, sound insulation of room was very good.
Superb location for visiting Salamanca: a covered passage from the hotel door leads directly to Plaza Mayor. Room doors are poorly sound isolated: noise in the corridor is heard inside the room.
Helpful staff. Great value for money breakfast. Help to locate garage with which hotel has discount agreement.
great central location Not a four star hotel but clean good rooms.
Excellent location, spotlessly clean. Superb breakfast buffet No outlook. No control over temperature in room - boiling hot & air conditioning & fan had no effect. Told only option was to open window
Fabulous location, right besides the Plaza Mayor.
The location so near to the Plaza Mayor is excellent, and the staff were very helpful whenever we needed assistance.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the location was incredibly convenient, just a hop, skip and jump from the Plaza Mayor. Very easy to go visit sites and come back to the hotel room for a rest. The rooms are large and spacious. Fairly quiet, considering how close to the Plaza and the student population. Everything was great with the exception of the bed, which was two singles rather than the double we had hoped for.
Great location in old city NO NON-SMOKING ROOMS. TRYED 2 ROOMS WITH HEAVY CIGARETTE SMELL
Nice clean big rooms. the staff was fantastic, very eager to help. Location, right next to plaza and rua mayor was superb.
Hotel staff was so friendly and accomodating. Room was perfect - clean and comfortable. Location could not be beat - quiet but 1/2 block from Plaza Mayor. Breakfast - so much to choose from and the room is absolutely beautiful, with music playing in the background. You'll love it!
Enjoyed breakfast and overall ambience of a centrally located hotel. Value for money. Sofa bed not particularly comfortable in Room 13
It was in the perfect location, very near plaza major. The room was spacious by european standards I have experienced in the past. Loved having a chair and loveseat so we could visit without sitting on the bed! The staff spoke very little english making it just a bit difficult but manageable.
I had read previous reviews complaining about the staff. I have to say my stay was just about perfect, and the staff was a big part of this. As an American with minimal Spanish, they were extremely helpful, patient, and courteous. And they go above and beyond more than any staff I've seen in luxury American hotels. At one point I asked the lady at the front desk for towels. She raced up 2 flights of stairs to get them for me immediately...all with a smile. The gentleman at the front desk at night was also very courteous, as he had to let my girlfriend (now fiance) and I come in and out the front door during the late hours of clubbing. I should also mention the room was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was perfectly delicious!
The staff was extremely helpful, would go out of their way. Excellent location, less than 2 minute walk to the Plaza Mayor. Nope, everything was excellent. Better than expected.
The room was luxurious for the price, large space and included a couch and a small kitchen with refrigerator. The view was wonderful, looking through the old glass decorative bay. Historic breakfast room.
I got a room with a great view of the San Sebastian Church. The hotel is very lovely and rooms are comfortable. The location is simply great! Must stay if you are at Salamanca.
The hotel was lovely. The Spanish are not in general very warm towards visitors, the staff was no exception but polite and attentive to my requests. The location is amazing, views lovely and I would stay there again if given the opportunity!
The location near the historical centre, the room size and the exterior of the building The posture and lack of simpaty of the staff at the reception desk. The dificult acess to the hotel car parking and the expensive price of it.
Freshly cooked breakfast
Location No breakfast included. Parking charge (15 euros)
Breakfast was excellent. Room was quiet. Good location. No iron in room.
The power of the AC was not very good , it took for ever to have a good temperature in the room. In any case we had a great time in the hotel. Thanks
The entrance and the foyer are beautiful! Despite of the hot weather, it was pleasently cool in the hotel - not freezing cold like they do it in some other countries. The rooms have a nice marble/wood floor and a high ceiling. The bathroom was big enough and very clean. It was a real four star hotel experience in a beautiful building. The terrace (where people smoke) is in the front of the hotel and the rooms on that side suffer from smoke coming in. Of course, it's only occasional, but it is annoying if you are not a smoker and you keep your window open in the morning. One other small thing is the church bells that ring every morning at 8 am, so not convinient for the late sleepers.
For double room price we had junior suit with jacuzzi :)
Location is good.
Very friendly staff, convenient location. Horribly noisy.
Quiet room away from street. it was warm and comfortable at this time of year ,mid october Cost of secure car parking and poor breakfast.coach party eat everything and what was left was unappetising
comfort and flexibility to change rooms
The location is very good only a few minutes walking from the centre. It is also well located to arrive by car. The hotel parking was expensive so we parked at another parking lot a few metres from the hotel and it was cheaper. The room is quite comfortable but nothing special. During the weekend the breakfast starts only at 9am and I thought it was too late.
atmosphere and small and local reception staff knew little english but then they are in Spain
Old towels, dirty curtains
Room comfort & cleanliness
Very efficient checking-in process. All staff were very helpful and thankfully spoke English. Good room and good location. No
Lovely spacious rooms close to all the attractions
Stunning setting, nice and inspiring surroundings and hotel itself imitating medieval design, while having all modern facilities, all this makes stay in hotel unforgettable!
Very convenient location, easy access to car park, easy to find, good breakfast.
Perfect location, beautiful view of the city, total comfort, very clean could be better lighting to read in bed
Views were spectacular (at extra cost but worth it). Location was very convenient. Secure basement parking available. Staff could have been warmer. Hotel lacked a little atmosphere but may have been time of year. Parking was expensive and couldn't be pre-booked because of limited space.
The views. Steep parking fee!
Location The airco was a bit noisy, car park places very narrow, places limited
Very high Standard and spacious family room. The restaurant is a 'must try', very delicious food. The breakfast does not reflect the standard of the hotel, and the coffeeis not the best. If the room are excellent value, a 12.50 Euro parking fee for a night and 4.50 Euro + VAT for internet access is quite an excess.
Brilliant view (we were given a corner room, with views over the cathedral, other churches). Very nice and large room. Front of hotel did not look like the impression given on the site
Fantastic location, nice rooms and friendly staff.Great 21st celebrations for my daughter Alex and all the family. No telephone numbers in the gym enabling us to contact the reception.
very friendly staff, excellent location 100 m from Plaza Mayor very strong smell of cigarettes in the room, although I have asked for a no-smoking room. Noise at night (motor bikes etc.)
Great location within a block of Plaza Mayor plus the opportunity to park in front of the hotel for free if they have an open parking spot.
Free parking for our car, right in the middle of Salamanca. The room was excellent, but quite small with virtually no place to store your luggage.
We did enjoy seeing the sites od the old part of Sevilla We had no sleep from 1030 pm until 530am kept awake by hordes of youngsters yelling, screaming and singing as they passed the hotel
Well-positioned hotel in the centre of everything Lack of internet facilities in hotel - overseas travellers cannot bring their own computers yet need to check emails.Disruption from next-door building site is going to continue for some time as project only just starting.
It is right next to Plaza Mayor, and it is an excellent value-for-money solution. Initially, the room we were given, and the one after that, were vividly smelling of cigarette, but the third one was great.
It was a business meeting, but met friends there too. This was an ideal location for both purposes and the axcommodation was first class. The rooms were spotless every day: staff were very friendly. I would go back here at any opportunity without hesitation. Breakfast! Better value (and quality) to be had in local restaurants. Also it is a noisy location, near the student trail from Plaza Mayor to their favourite pubs & clubs. But this, in truth was a minor blip in an otherwise excellent stay.
Wireless. The Food
i liked the friendly people and the ideal location, for sure a good hotel to recommend
Plaza del Angel is right in the city center, it is only a few steps away from Plaza Mayor, which is great for the first time visitors to the city. The room was very comfortable, clean and very beautifully decorated. and the staff was very helpful!
Very central. Cleanliness excellent This is a new hotel and the sound proofing is poor.
Near Centre The road was up outside hotel making it difficult to get to
The parking, though it's tight. And the helpful staff. A bit clinical - only one person is on duty.
The hotel is very near the main attractions and the hotel staff - very helpful! The room was not very big, but there was a comfortable sitting area as well. The furniture is nice and the bed is comfortable. There is a nice terrace on the roof with wonderful view, especially by night, but unfortunatelly it is not used for this value.
Great views from the rooftop terrace, and a fabulous shower make sure your car isnt any larger than a mondeo, or it wont fit in the vehicle lift !
the ambience difficult to find initially as no sign posting
Unusually beautiful hotel room (nice colours, nice furniture) with a feel-good atmosphere (i.e. not as anonymous as many); very good bed; free + reliable internet connection; friendly staff. Shower water rather cold (1st and 3rd morning). After reporting it the first morning, I thought the problem would be solved. This was true the second morning but next day it was again not right. (Later all was okay). Whereas contact noise was usually absent, the sounds of noices and televisions during a busy night made me wonder how it would be on lower floors
The hotel was in the sentrum of Salamanca, walkingdistance to all facilities. The hotel is nice, but the sauna and the massageshower in the bathroom was out of order in our room. The television was very small (the smallest i have seen the last 10 year on a hotel room) and it was placed very high on the wall. aprox 1,75 from the floor. The room was big and clean.
This was an amazing hotel for a great price. It's beautiful and very chic inside. It was also close to everything. We highly recommend it to anybody going to Salamanca!!!
Modern room, hot showers, spacious bathroom.
Well situated, close to Plaza Mayor, staff very friendy and effecient
Location was excellent, 5 minutes walk to the centre of attractions but away from all the noise. Although public the car park was right in front of the hotel. Wifi only seemed to work in the lobby.Like most city hotels could do with modernising. The lift needs adjusting, hold on when it lands!!
Hotel very central in Salamanca. Public parking just across road from hotel, with special rate for hotel clients. Triple room adequate with 3 full size beds. Would stay here again. Room got a bit warm at times and we could'nt open window or turn off radiator.
Great location. Easy walk to all sites. If driving there is public parking directly opposite the hotel.
I asked for, iand got a light, quiet room. I traveled alone, but paid for a twin room for the space. I have no idea how small the individual rooms are, but I was very happy with my room. The wifi worked well. I prefer to stay a little outside the area of the dark narrow streets. I like the light. It seems that few hotels in this price range have hairdryers these days.
Very conveniently locsted near Plaza Mayor
The easy access to the town of Salamanca; within easy walking distance to the whole of the town/sites/shops.
Close to centre of Salamanca. Staff were friendly, rooms were good size and clean. Breakfast tended to be somewhat hap hazzard. Coffee was good but sometimes no food, depending on when you took breakfast.
Fantastic receptionist in afternoon
The staff were helpful There was no facility to iron your clothing
location, staff, the towles, minibar prices, the cosmetics provided, everything was great. breakfast could have been more varied, maybe more hot food and fruit? some of the cleaning staff seemed very miserable - did not respond when i said hola but i can understand this.
air condition was too loud
excellent location, comfortable room, large bathroom staff hardly speak English, internet free but clumsy, with new login pass required every day
great location, friendly staff, full comfort, clean
Easy access to the city center and not noisy for sleep. Staffs were helpful.
Close to sites, good air conditioning, bed, and room size with lovely bath amenities Desk staff was rude to indifferent, reserved a double and only got one (instead of twin) after " Fuerte" discussion', no wifi in room
Much noise from other guests in corridor on both nights until 02:00. Believe staff spoke to people involved on second night.
Very well located
Very well located, close to the university and cathedral. Clean and comfortable, this isn't a bad place to stay if you're on a tight budget. I don't think I have ever stayed in a hotel that didn't have 1 English tv channel. No good for news junkies who want to catch to catch up with the world after a day's sightseeing.
Very convenient location. Lack of parking places in the neighbourhood
Nicely placed, magnificent interior, quiet, very reasonable price Very poor security, no reasonable safety facilities, no way to be sure about your belongings (money, passports, jewelry, electronics). During our 5-day stay our room and a few neighboring rooms were robbed in the evening time and a lot of valuable things disappeared. Hotel has no responsibility for the things even that you keep in the safety-deposit box. The box is very small (e.g. no way to put laptop there) has a prehistoric lock which you have to ask at the reception. Right on the vault you find the note that the hotel has no responsibility for the things you put there. So, the hotel Monterray is an extremely nice place if you do not care about your things and has not more than 20 Euros in your pocket.
the hotel was dated and there was not really anything that would apeal to familys this is more of a hotel for older people and I am glad that we only stayed one night
This hotel is not a good hotel. It has 4 stars but the quality of furniture is terrible. There are only portable TV's too. If you want to have a peaceful night then dont use this hotel. It is located on a busy center street and at the weekends it is impossible to sleep because the town is full of students who get drunk and make so much noise at 2 3 4 5 o'clock in the morning. Stay away from this hotel. It is a ripoff. See my above comment
The cleanliness of the room was excellent. The staff were, for the most part helpful. The focus was so strong on groups that there is no place for the individual to even have a glass of wine. This is not good for the individual traveloer new to the country.
We needed an iron machine urgently and although at first the receptionist said the rooms didn't have an iron and he wasn't sure whether he could get one, at the end he was very efficient and got us an iron in less than 10 minutes. The first reaction from the staff when we asked for the iron machine was "No, the rooms don't have an iron machine". Only after insisting we got a "I'll check with the governor but not sure if I can help" and only after I insisted, I got a positive answer and a fast reaction. The elevator was broken. The hotel and rooms looked old (but clean). We were put in a room with two beds without being asked, instead of a double bed. The price was too high compared with the quality.
The location is perfect, nearby underground parking and nice decoration. The internet access was only possible in a hotel computer in the reception. This is not appropriate for a 4 stars hotel... The noise between rooms and the corridor was very bad.
Sightseeing in Salamanca, visiting a friends No
location was excellent the walls were very thin, could hear the people next door. noisy.
Hotel very clean and central, rooms slightly small
Very informal and friendly. the semi transparent door in the bathroom is bizarre and not ideal in a family room
The location with a balcony over the plaza. The breakfast was wonderful. The bed - very uncomfortable The bathroom door - it's not sealed off from the bedroom and is transparent. Not much space to move around the bed.
Central Location, great breakfast room no views from bedroom window
Close to the restaurants, shops and historical centre
The room we stayed in had a lovely bathroom and we liked the swimming pool The location
The location was great! It could of been better. I booked 2 rooms. The room for 2 people was much bigger than the room for 3 people.
clean, confortable, excellent value for money. Great location right by the plaza mayor.
Excellent view to beautiful, Plaza de la Libertad, close to Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and the University. Pretty large bathroom (compared to other hostals). Everything OK. The cleaning was OK but not perfect.
Location was great, really just around the corner of Plaza Mayor. Staff wasn't too friendly but very helpful. Room was simple but clean. Location is noisy, especially in the weekend but that's what you can expect in the heart of the city. Not all rooms have a balcony, we stayed in the attic with one window looking towards the sky.
Location is excellent a few steps away from Plaza Mayor. Although no restaurant on site there are many coffee shops around. Tip for parking: you should reserve a place and it is located on Espoz y Mina street almost corner with Plaza de la Libertad (where Hostal Concejo is). Curtain is filled with graffitti. Note that it looks like a pedestrian street from access at Cuesta del Carmen street. You should park somewhere anyway and get the remote key and parking slot. I hope this helps as we already lost quite some time finding the access. Because of its location and because it is a university town it can be very noisy all night.
helpfulness of staff, cleanliness of rooms, central position, value for money
Good and well equipped room in prime location. No
excellent location we were on the first floor which could be a bit noisy at night but the room had a small balcony with a good view
Good location near Plaza Mayor The hotel was very difficult to locate via my satnav as it was located in a pedestrianised street. They advertised parking but I could not take this up as I had to park my car and walk to find the hotel
hotel was centrally located in the old city, steps away from the Plaza Mayor. Air conditioned; helpful, friendly staff. Rooms were very clean and modern. Overlooking a pleasant plaza with nice restaurants steps away. None
