Pros: Spacious & comfortable
Cons: No car parking ☹️ We read the website and parking info and understand it is limited and on a first come first served basis. The website also said no check in prior to 14.00. We arrived at 14.10 and all spaces were gone. Staff said people had come early. The info on the website does not reflect the practices employed by staff at check in. This was disappointing because we thought we were doing the ‘right’ thing.

Pros: Breakfast is very good indeed and the location could not be better for visiting Chester.
Cons: I was asked several times a day if I was alone. I eat in the brasserie and I was asked both at the door and at the table. This is a sensitive subject for me since my husband died, but even so I don't see the necessity to ask me to state the obvious! Its on the paperwork and I stand there, alone!
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff were fabulous. We really enjoyed the courtesy of door opening etc and being shown to our room. The breakfast was lovely and location is great.
Cons: The room was cold! An engineer was sent up twice but commented that they do have issues and due to the age of the building they are restricted with what can be done to resolve the issue. A portable heater was brought up instead! I had paid for an executive room which I didn’t expect to be cold! We also had asked for a cup of tea in the morning which never arrived.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Simon Radley restaurant.
Comfort and space with style.
Cons: No biscuits with room coffee and tea !
Unclear on car parking arrangement and difficult to find entrance to the multi story car park at the rear of the hotel.
Not clear when booked that breakfast inclusion is continental only - extra cost for cooked.

Pros: The staff were pleasant. The room was nice, clean and bed very comfy. Singer they had on in the evening was very good.
Cons: For the price paid I was shocked that the few food items stocked in the room where not complimentary. It felt an instant anti-climax to find that there was a fairly overpriced charge for them. The breakfast included was ok but nothing to get excited about. Cooked food fine and a pretty boring selection of continental options. It would be better if the TV to the room had smart facilities. Restaurant was not as inviting as I would have hoped for the price.

Pros: Good breakfast, good location, nice bar.
Cons: Walls between rooms are very thin and overly creaky floorboards. Expectations not met for a superior double room.
6.7 Good
Pros: Great location , central to Chester
Cons: The noise from the bar belie, my room was next to a small road and revellers were noisily passing until 2.30am, being woken by the beer bottle delivery at 7.30
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous breakfast. You are given a 20% discount for evening meal. Staff very very friendly and courteous, nothing was too much trouble for them!
Cons: Obviously it is a very old building so the stairs are a little uneven. (No lift) If you are unsteady on your feet ask for first floor. Staff are quite happy to take your cases to your room for you.

Cons: Character

Pros: Great location.
Cons: Nice room but heating & hot water a bit hit & miss.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very clean
Cons: Request was put in for a bath, but there was none available
7.9 Good
Pros: The property was very well presented in all its Xmas decorations... and the food was good
Cons: I didn’t have a shower because it was cold in the morning, when I told staff they said ‘ahhh well must be when the rest of the hotel is showering at the same time’ I wouldn’t of minded if I was given the heads up, but then again this is a known issue and it came across as being ignored
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building in a great location, especially for the Christmas markets. The room Was perfect and food in the restaurant was lovely, special meal room to the waitress on last night, she was busy but amazing. Great home ales as well if you like them.
Cons: Don’t stay of stairs are an issue. That is literally the only negative I can say
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic especially Luke the manage,r food was excellent, the beds very comfortable had a great time and will go back soon
Cons: No it was fantastic
6.7 Good
Pros: a lovely traditional pub, and the staff were all very friendly - the food in the restaurant was excellent.
Cons: The room was a bit lopsided but to be honest it added to the charm of the place so we actually quite liked it.
4.3 Okay
Pros: the location and the shower
Cons: the missing remote, the lack of hairdryer and shocking breakfast.
4.7 Okay
Pros: City center location is ideal for shops, bars, restaurants.
Cons: Street noise at night (we stayed on a Friday night). Breakfast was extremely slow - 30-40 minutes wait time. Corners of the bathroom floor looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for many years. Cleaner knocked on our room door in spite of 'do not disturb' sign.
5.7 Okay
Pros: friendly staff we had lunch there and was very good
Cons: breakfast was poor , and we had to wait 30 minutes to be served
4.8 Okay
Pros: Evening food value, and good rage of Real Ales
Cons: Poor service at breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in the centre, good food, great staff, And next time we go back to chester we are going right back to the pied bull
5.6 Okay
Pros: The atmosphere in the public bar and the cleanliness of the room
Cons: the mattresses were very uncomfortable, we had to use the bed covers to stop the springs attacking us!
6.8 Good
Pros: old world charm. we booked the 4 poster room which was very good.
Cons: food was only ok. could have been better.
6.0 Good
Pros: The central location and the "Old World Charm" - very charming and very atmospheric. Also staff were friendly, helpful and service was extremely quick. Breakfast was good and freshly made. Facilities were clean and comfortable.
Cons: Our room was over the public bar and was a bit noisy - luckily we didn't stay on the Karaoke night! Beer deliveries started quite early (but to be fair much what you'd expect staying in a very old but lively city centre pub).
With a stay at The Pied Bull, you'll be centrally located in Chester, steps from Chester City Walls and 4 minutes by foot from Chester Cathedral. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
With a stay at ABode Chester, you'll be centrally located in Chester, just a 4-minute walk from Grosvenor Museum and 12 minutes by foot from Chester Cathedral. Pros: The hotel has a great location, the room is clean and the bathroom is nice and big. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: I made a one night booking via an E website and when I arrived at the hotel, I extended my stay to two nights on the E website. I even went downstairs to confirm with the reception that they got the booking for the second night, which they did. The next morning I got a phone call to say my booking is cancelled. While I was still in bed in one of the hotel rooms. The hotel just said they were over booked. Expedia said its not their fault but the hotel.

Pros: Staff were lovely and friendly and the breakfast was great.
Cons: Our room. Terrible, pokey and old fashioned. The only thing that resembled the photos was new wallpaper on one wall.
The room was tiny and overlooking bins and the noisy road.
The bathroom hasn’t been upgraded and I could only just use the shower as when you put it to top height (I’m tall) it just dribbled out. It was one of the those old ones with no dual control. The bath couldn’t even fit my 5ft 1” Mum in....... it’s like the room they put the overstays...... terrible. Won’t beback.

Pros: Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast lovely. Location perfect.

Pros: Excellent location with a friendly and helpful staff. The bars meals are very good and breakfast was well organised. The short stroll into Chester makes the location perfect.
The nearby Cornerhouse pub is great for weekend live music plus a good selection of beers.
Cons: The car parking charge at £7.50 per day because I booked via a third party was unexpected and mean, very disappointing Mill Hotel..do you really need to do this. This is my fourth visits but will not consider other hotels!!
Bed room lighting is dim, the wife had difficulty with this.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the hotel was brilliant.
Cons: The wife picked up on a couple of issues in the bedroom. They hadn't hoovered hair clips on the floor and crisp packet. Lamp bases dirty and hair in the bath. And couldn't turn the radiator on. This won't stop us staying again lovely hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, size of hotel, friendly staff and excellent breakfast
Cons: The car park and surroundings were strewn with litter and both rubbish bins at the car park entrance were filled to capacity. After 4 visits to reception my room key card still did not work, I was kindly let into my room by a member of your cleaning staff who went to reception for me to sort out the keycard.......it was still temperamental even after that. If I had been staying any longer it would have been frustrating.

Pros: Staff were great, the only good thing about this place.
Cons: Had to move rooms, found mould in kettle, dried vomit on bed..took photos.. and when the manager came to check the door handle came off in his hand . Never again
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money & clean.
Cons: Too hot when I arrived, but soon sorted. Also only 1 pillow in the room but they got me a second sorted.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Close to the city centre, ideal base for a weekend break. Front desk staff always very pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Ridiculously overpriced (£260 for two nights) for the facilities, comfort and quality provided. Would expect to pay £60PN maximum for ‘digs’ type of accommodation. Think the price was bumped up for close date booking as city accommodation sometimes is at peak times but this racketeering has left a sour taste. Blood on the carpet, a wonky bed, noisy doors, fetid damp smell in bathroom with a damaged shower, flickering lights. Overall smell of many peoples “bad nights out” left us very disappointed!

Pros: IT WAS CLOSE TO THE CITY CENTRE AND ONLY 5 MINS FROM STATION
Cons: THE BEDS WERE LUMPY AND UNCOMFORTABLE THERE WAS NO HEATING IN THE ROOM AND WE WERE TOLD THE MAINTENANCE MAN WOULD REPAIR IT AND HE DIDNT THE HEATER THEY GAVE US GOT RREALLY HOT WHEN PLUGGED IN SO WE DIDNT FEEL SAFE USING IT

Pros: You feel so happy once you walk through the door amazing staff can't do enough for you will be back very soon
Cons: There is nothing to dislike
4.6 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfy, some staff were more than happy to try and help/ improve guest experience. Location is perfect.
Cons: Where to start, rooms are filthy, dust everywhere, mildew and mould in the bathrooms. Scum around the hand wash pumps in the lobby toilets. Attention to detail poor, some staff appear to hate their job and do not care about the guests. Went for a Christmas break, but not one christmas decoration in sight, compared to The Grovener down the road this hotel seems to have lost its christmas sparkle. Breakfast is horrendous, had a raw poached egg and when I asked for another, chef sent me a fried egg as it was "quicker!" Cold coffee, no salt in the shakers, shared milk and sauces on the tables. I could go on and on.

7.0 Good
Pros: great location, price a little steep for what it is, didnt get the bathrobes or slippers as promised on the booking, would go again if a good deal is available
Cons: prices for one night steep, our room was on the first floor is like a rabbit warren up there, also house keeping knocking in the morning to come clean the room thinking we had already checked out, mold in the shower, water stains on the shower screen, wife cleans holiday cottages so she notices theses things
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything really
Cons: Just the car parking, but that’s not their fault,
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Breakfast was adequate- insufficient range of cereals, breads etc. Almost no hot water to the bath in room 309-probably poor water pressure but unacceptable. Place looked tired- needs brightening up. Poor in relation to other hotels in the chain.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, big room, great location. Great breakfast
Cons: We stayed on a Tuesday night however still experienced a lot of noise in the early hours from a night club near or possibly underneath the hotel which woke us up several times unfortunately.

Pros: Very handy for getting into Chester a ( approximately 1 mile ) Comfortable bed for sleeping on but not for sitting on to watch TV as there was only 1 chair which wasn’t very comfortable Reception staff were very friendly
Cons: To didn’t like is a bit strong but could do with an upgrade as although the glass in the windows was double glazed the frames were wooden and were rotting .When we woke up in the morning the glass was wet through Could only get WiFi down stairs not in the bedrooms
4.6 Okay
Pros: Nothing. There was absolutely nothing we liked about this hotel, never are we staying here again.
Cons: Rooms are small and pokey, nothing like the pictures on this or their site. The heating didn't work in our room, so we had to borrow a fire from reception. No WiFi, even though it was advertised. The hotel is only 2 star rated, not three, as shown on here. Shower was almost impossible to use.
