Room very comfortable, large and quiet beautifully designed splendid brekfast in such luxurious hotel internet in rooms should be free of charge
Beautiful rooms overlooking the water. Perfect way to relax in comfort for a few days of luxury. I can honestly say that I couldn't find any faults.
Very helpful staff. The weather.
It was a very stylish, well positioned hotel with good size rooms, especially the ones with balconies overlooking the sea. The hotel was a good mix of old and new with the recent renovation retaining the important elements of the old worlde hotel whilst introducing all modern amenities and comforts.
Everything! Fantastic room, good service, great location. One of my favourite hotels I have ever stayed in. I didn't like the exorbitant charge for wireless internet.
The bedroom was soundproof, and the bed was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast gave a varied choice for everyone.
One of the best hotels we ever experienced.Great position, amaizing design, quiet and relaxing.
Excellent location beside main square in Trieste. Very pleasant and helpful staff, especially on reception.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Well-appointed with a wonderful balcony and view. The heating system was broken and the staff unable to fix it. It was freezing in both areas of the suite and extremely uncomfortable.
Excellent location, polite, obliging staff, extremely comfortable/well designed rooms, very pleasant breakfast.
Excelent location, great rooms, recently renoved, nice furniture. All new. Near the sea Poor breakfast, very expansive wireless.
the hotel location, the services, the room
Very clean hotel, our room was not the most quiet one (one of the window was near the conditioner engine). But overall for one night stay and for good value for money we consider this hotel as a good one. Its' locaion is fantastic - just near the main beatifull square.
Breakfast was really excellent and delicious! The minimalism was quite depressing. White walls, no pictures. Internet didn't work in room either
Comfortable bed and good breakfast. I was upgraded to a loft suite at no charge becase I had booked a long stay. The loft suite was very nice. Loft rooms were accessed by narrow, winding steps. Difficult to bring up luggage as the elevator was up about 5 steps from the ground floor.
it's unique location, the friendly staff, the level of services, the super-design rooms and common areas. the pugging of the building, there were a lot of noises from the hotel corridors and the neighbouring streets
Urban Design has really urban design :) We didn't smoke, but in the last night there was a strong smell of smoking? maybe from neighbors.
Staff was very kinde and profesinal.
It is very central and modern
central location, modern interior, good breakfast rather thin walls between rooms
Breakfast was exelant, stuff very friendly and pleasant N/a
Location, luxury, breakfast, restaurant........ Nothing!!!!
Location, location, location Staff are polite but lacks the snappiness you need for a luxury hotel
The location, the atmosphere and the swimming pool. Breakfast staff could have been more friendly and helpful. They should have explained their system which differed to other hotels I have stayed in.
The helpful and friendly hotel staff There was no drawer space in room 302
If you are staying in Trieste…this is the only place to stay. It’s a beautiful hotel in the famous Piazza Unita. The staff are extremely helpful, the pool/sauna/steam room and spa treatment is an added bonus. Breakfast has everything, including a glass of Prosecco if it takes your fancy. We will definitely stay there again sometime…
Excellent location; good breakfasts
An excellent location, ambience and services. Waiters at the Hary´s bar/restaurant does not carry away useless and used pottery when having your meal. The starter pottery was on the table when we were having our pudding (for dinner). You You ve to use the hotel driver for parking despite you does not trust enybody driving your car. The hotels usualy permit it.
Wonderful location, cleanliness or room, helpful reception staff. Breakfast service could be improved but was fine.
Location is perfect, the rooms are very comfortable and relatively big. The breakfast could be better!
Central location in Trieste Prepare the rooms for guests!! Too slow garage service for the price!! Arrogant check-in staff!! Latest checkout at 10 am???
Excellent location in center of town, but still quiet. Double paned windows block out virtually any street noise. Very courteous staff. Only that on booking.com it said that pets were free, then when they sent the confirmation email they said that pets were 10 euro. When I told them about booking.com info they apologized and did not charge me. Nevertheless kind of weird for such an expensive hotel.
The location is right in the centre of Trieste! So basically you just walk out onto the high street of Trieste. The Wifi was not very stable. Breakfast could've had more choices
breakfastroom room had small window on a small courtyard and was therefore dark. I like rooms with a view.
The rooms lacked comfortable chairs
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, perfect location in the center of Trieste, decent breakfast buffet the free wireless internet connection was very slow
Excellent location and service! No.
Friendly staff. Excellent location. Good breakfast included.
location no tea coffee facilities in room
The room and locality were good. But nothing out of the ordinary for the price. I was actually expecting something rather more luxurious or flamboyant for the price. Given its star rating I was surprised to find no internet, no obvious condusive lounge or public social space - did I miss it somewhere - and no included breakfast (which I knew when I booked). I was told where there was internet in Trieste but could not find it. OK for business but lacked a bit for tourist.
Very spacious and convenient rooms. A good view on roofs of Trieste buildings. 1)The chambermaid works too seldom. She did not even take rubbish, trash. 2) Kitchens are not equipped with electrical kettle for preparing tea. It is necessary to use a pan.
The room was surprisingly big and with kitchen, so it's good for a longer stay. The bathroom was big also. The location is great! We could see the sea from our window. It was really hard to find a parking space, but after one hour going around in this little crazy town with crazy italian parking habits we found a place (we thought 20 € per day for parking offering by the hotel was too much).
Huge room with fully equiped kitchen included. Pleasantly surprised!
It was like staying in your own appartment No
Excellent and quiet location in the center of the town, clean and spacious apartment. We booked a triple room but we got a double room with an extra bed, which was a little bit short.
Location and suite with spotless kitchen and bath. Nice old building. Major problem - the doors were locked and no one was there when I arrived! I had called in advance to make sure that reception would be open for my 10:30 pm train arrival in Trieste and they said that they would have someone to greet me despite the fact that the reception hours ended at 9pm. I was only saved by the simultaneous arrival of another guest who let me in - but there was no note and no key and no one arrived in reception. If not for ingenuity, I would have had to sleep in the reception area. Also a little run down - rugs, curtains and bedspreads.
The location was very good. The staff were cold and distant. We felt like they had no interest in us. The James Joyce is the older sister of the ultra modern urban hotel next door. It has nobody on duty there and we felt like we were seated at the kids table. Nobody noticed us.
very central Hotel is really an annex to to the next door Urban hotel, it has no facilities of it's own. It is in a scruffy alley, one evening we were kept awake by local yobs with dogs in the alley.
i will never come back - not clean, very poor 3 star hotel everything
nice reception at main hotel next door (seemed to be shared with this hotel) and helpful staff room a little bit small
good staff, comfortable, centrally located, difficult to find, no view at all, small room
Ideal city centre location, room overlooked an office across the very narrow street; some noise during night from outside. Very comfortable, clean and excellent staff. NB these comments cover two bookings as we had two rooms, one for our adult daughter and one for us. Would have helped if we could have told taxi driver to leave us at Urban, but we didn't know the hotels were linked. The coffee at breakfast was below par.
centreal position to main attractions, restaurants etc
Quiet, and car-free area that was also very central. Excellent care in the room itself. Large double bed. Room was dark, scarcely any daylight coming in. More facilities to hang or dry towels would be welcome. Breakfast was rather poor - especially tinned rather than fresh fruit in September in Italy ! And the coffee was also rather weak ! Hotel staff not on the site but over the street, and the experience was somewhat impersonal - though staff were always polite.
Central location - the main sights of Trieste were just a few steps away. The rooms were very comfortable, even though they were rather small, there was lots of convenient storage space. There was free internet available. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were dark (this is just a comment - not a negative), but this is unavoidable because the hotel is located on a little alleyway. So if you want a view from your window don't go here. It was also a bit difficult to find because we came from the wrong direction and didn't see the sign pointing up the alley.
Quiet Room near shopping and attractions. Internet service in room. Helpful staff. Attractive room. Apparently the Hotel James Joyce was fill, so we were put in new Urban Hotel across the alley. Very new, very nice. Room very small.
Room Cleanyless The City Noise
The hotel has first of all a perfect position in the city center Sometimes the cigarette smell went through and was smelled in our room as some smokers were probably our neighbours
Cleanliness of the room, very nice breakfast, helpfulness of the staff
Clean and cheap Stifflingly hot
Good location Internet point without printer!
parking service small breakfast room
Good location, near city center. Good breakfast buffet. There is just a bathroom for almost 10 rooms. During our one night stay the bathroom was never cleaned and toilet paper was missing.
Valet-parking a great boon. Central location. Nothing
We loved the location of the hotel it was very central to the city. Breakfast was good and the staff very helpful, we would definetly stay there again if visiting Trieste.
Helpful staff, central location, nice, old building. Lack of air con could be a problem in very hot weather
Clean and big family room. Nice staff. Breakfast was good.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was located very centrally, close to shopping and the water. The band width connection was very low so internet connection was slow and spotty. The hotel was located in front of the bus stop which was both a blessing and a curse. At 5:30 am the buses would come and are very noisy.
We found its location superb, on a quiet street in the heart of Trieste's old city, and literally two minutes' walk from Trieste's public squares (e.g. Piazza dell'Unita Italia), elegant waterfront, and its lovely pedestrian malls, lined with attractive bars and restaurants. Our room's decor was simple, but it was very tastefully appointed. Much attention was paid to details (e.g. a nice stool in the bathroom, a safe in our room,...). Excellent quality at a reasonable price. We were very pleased with our choice of hotels for our first visit to Trieste. The air conditioning might have been a little on the cool side, but it was very efficient and enabled us to sleep really well, in spite of the sweltering heat.
Location was very good - in the centre of town and near the port. No ham and cheese to go with the bread rolls for breakfast in the morning. Only a small point as I thought it was de rigeur to have this in hotels on the Med. Actually the breakfast included tea, coffee, 3 different cereals, fruit and yoghurt so this isn't really a serious comment.
Having stayed at the Filoxenia before we knew roughly what to expect. However, we found it much improved to our previous visit. Staff were very friendly and helpful from front desk to cleaners. Being partially disabled this hotel is idealy placed for both sight-seeing and central for shopping all within walking distance.
near to center bad sound insulation between the rooms
We like the location....very close to the train station, the boat taxi, the waterfront, restaurants and visiting sites. The room was rather plain, but the mattresses were very comfortable. We wished that the breakfast period could have been extended a little later. It was a bit of a challenge while on vacation to make it down by 9:00 so as to be finished by 9:30.
in the center poor breakfast
Good central position, enjoyed the hotel restaurant with its Greek flavour Car parking is a great problem - spent 1 hour one day searching for a place to leave the car.
The staff was helpfull and the room was clean and bright.
The staff were friendly and the room smart in a chintzy mediterranean way. Excellent location but a bit noisy. However these were the sounds of a bustling community (bakers and fishmongers opening early, cafes and bars at night) which meant that there was a lot of good stuff on your doorstep. Good value compared with the alternatives in Trieste. The bed was hard. My girlfriend liked it, I put my back out.
cockroaches, fortunately not many
Closeness to ferries & city. Need a fan in the room - because of the noise from below - Trietse does not sleep - we had to close the windows & the room then had no air circulating.
The room was very prettily painted, with all the cupboards and walls in the same style. Also the ceiling was painted like a cloudy sky. The opening hours of the reception could be broader. And the city is rather noisy at night.
Central location, quiet street 1. Dust in the room. 2. Too few hot water, you have to shower very quickly. 3. Chaotic reservation management. The hotel ignored the remark on the reservation about my late arrival (the reception closes at 8 pm). When I arrived, there was no sign where to go. The barista from the neighbour cafe was so kind to lead me to a restaurant situated some streets away where I was given the key, and I had to pay only cash in advance but they could not give me any receipt! Fortunately Fortunately I had enough cash. I could pay the room with my credit card next morning when the reception was open.
Very quirky hotel but functional and adequate bit in a great location in the old town. Bathroom was a bit primitive
Enjoyed Piazza Unita d'Itlia,,tram, Coffee Houses, Museums, Grotta Gigante, a lot to do and enjoy,
Convenient location for town and also for transport.Good breakfast.Would stay again. Whilst it was no problem for us, people who had walking problems miht have difficulty with stairs as it has no lift.
good facilities, small, very friendly and well positioned to access the services of the city. Friendly and helpful staff.
Hotel staff extremely kind and at your disposal for any kind of assistance. Couldn't ask for a better position, kind of isolated and therefore quiet, but still in the very center of the city. Clean.
Just in the center, silent, nice, comfortable. Impossible to find parking place.
Hotel location was great for the old town (restaurants and bars) and close to the sea front (although numerous steps neede to be negotiated!), esp TriestLines Ferry to SLO/HR (15 minutes walk. Quiet and comfy. Not suitable for motorised travellers (but this aspect could be part of the attraction!). Air conditioner available but too loud for night-time use.
Central location and a good value for the money. Slept three easily so it was good for two adults with one child.
