Ease of parking.Comfortable beds. Had to ask multiple times for a refrigerator in room when I previously confirmed a refrigerator would be in room at checkin. Needed more staff at front desk.
Lobby Incredible food Torn shower curtain Long walk for retired Air Force disabled vet, not enough disability parking near entrance
For a "king suite" it was a very average room-may as well opt for a cheaper room. It seems one half of the hotel is way nice than the other-but it's still nice.
The location was perfect. We were going to an event at The Stage. Upon arrival the lobby was beautiful and the staff very welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable with all of the necessities. We ate both dinner the menu was amazing with variety of vegetarian meals. Breakfast as well. With such a beautiful lounge we ate there both meals. All of these things were of great quality but the staff is the shinning star of the hotel. The front desk clerk who always had a smile and a welcoming word to the shuttle driver and all of the wait staff!! The business end of the bathroom was a little worn.
Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Cozy comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Convenient location. Parking was tight.
The room itself was great - big comfy bed, mini kitchen which included a toaster, microwave, fridge, pots and pans, and utensils. The double head shower was also very clean. They have a shuttle service that picks you up and takes you places within a 2mile radius which is great except it takes 30 min to come get you and then sometimes if it already has passengers it takes you all the way out to the airport when you just had to walk 10min. The breakfast wasn't anything great.. They had lots of options but everything was very bland, typical hotel food. I was sick for a full day because the milk I had was bad even though it hadn't expired. I think it might have been left out to spoil just a little too long.
The best deal you can get in Syracuse. Nothing
Room clean and good size. Staff very nice. Breakfast was good Had Internet connection problems which were a real inconvenience
Clean Noisy. You could hear all the doors closing. The maid service knocked several times very early in the morning on nearby rooms and was very loud. Someone attempted to open our dor n then ran away despite do not disturb sign
Professional & courteous staff, modern & clean rooms, convenient location
Room was neat & clean; nice linens and a huge rain shower stall. Close to SU and University Hospital. Continental breakfast is not offered nor included in room price. Parking costs extra. In a small market like syracuse, these should be included in the room price.
Location to restaurants and entertainment. Rooms are outdated and not clean. Bathroom had mold around toilet and shower. Customer service - Upon check in, I explained the wrong room was given to us, as the confirmation showed how many and what type of bed we should have. They did not care and told me the room I had was correct. Upon checkout, my credit card was charged for the room, even though I had paid through a booking site. I explained this to the woman at the desk, and she said since they could not find record of payment, she would not refund me. Instead of trying to satisfy me by making a simple phone call to the booking site, she told me I had to do the work and contact the booking site to find out details and then contact her to get the refund.
The pool heater was broke and both the jacuzzi and pool were DISGUSTING! The breakfast was a joke! And I had to take a shower in another room because our tub wouldn't drain. The air conditioner felt like it was on its last leg. Never again! Don't bother with this hotel. What a waste of money!
Noisy heating system... Old and warn out
Convenience to temporary work When I arrived TWO of the desk clerks told me that a small conference room would be available for me the next day to meet a client. The clerks said this conference room was open to guests free of charge on a first come first serve basis. Later on the "Asst Manager" told me it was fully booked for the weekend. During the weekend I walked by the glass doors several times, and never saw a soul in it. First two days of my five day stay, housekeeping did not even touch my room.
Hotel is good. Staff is great. They helped me out of a major problem when my car would not start. Syracuse weather.
The room reaked of smoke. Asked for another room and was rudely helped
Lovely airy decor, modern yet comfortable atmosphere. Coming in late at night, I felt like I was retuning to a family member's home who had left the light on for me. The fact that it was a "green" hotel was an added benefit, but it certainly did not feel I was sacrificing anything. I also want to add that even though we were in a busy neighborhood, our room was very quiet. I had no complaints at all.
Very nice and clean hotel in a unique building. Super convenient to Syracuse University; just a short walk up to Marshall Street and less than 10 minutes to the Dome. Rooms were spacious enough, even for a family of 4. All staff were helpful and very nice. Interesting lobby too. And if you stay for a football or basketball game then the on-site free parking is an additional bonus. Bathrooms were a little dark and the showers are European style (only half a door!) Bar seemed to close early.
We stayed at Hotel Skyler on a visit to Syracuse University with my son. It was within walking distance to the campus and the local area had plenty of dining options to discover. (Try Laci's Tapas Bar if you want fabulous food and wine on your stay.) The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful and provided a warm, easy check in. The facilities had a chic, simple, modern decor that was immaculate and comfortable. Two minor items I would have liked to see at the hotel were an in room coffee maker (but they did provide complimentary coffee in the lobby) and later hours for the bar/restaurant (they have a snack stand available until 2 a.m.). I would definitely come back and stay again.
Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful.
Staff was great, location was great and the green initiative was is fantastic. Room was comfortable and quiet.
They are rightfully proud of the energy savings and material recycling designed into this wonderful ex-temple. Rooms are spacious and unique, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place when visiting Syracuse.
Location-close to Syracuse University, easy accessibility. ie parking free. Preservation of historic bldg.-beautiful job. "Green" renovation-ecologically responsible No actual dining room available, just a café/bar in lobby.
Great location, very nice breakfast included, love the fact that it's a LEED Platinum building. Room was nicely equipped and the bed was very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. Just wish it had a hot tub for relaxing! Shower was interesting - no door and only a half-wall for privacy. It was just the two of us so it was fine, but could be more challenging if traveling with teens or anyone who prefers privacy.
Hot tub and pool are great, well stocked with towels. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. No vending machines or options for food. They had limited drinks at the front desk that were overpriced, and the restaurant served breakfast that also seemed kind of steep.
Room cleanliness was great Love their chocolate cookie gift upon check in and the candy bar in the room Very convenient off 90 thruway Cost was great for location and overall hotel quality Thank you for complimentary breakfast buffet Mattress comfort & quality was Just OK The restaurant is to the left of the front hotel entrance and there was loudness I stayed on the Hilton Honors level and noticed the noise level adjacent to my room and one level below. More sound-proofing needed
The bedrooms we had were excellent They had not got our booking correct for either our arrival or departure! They seemed to imply it was our fault but it was sorted with out too much delay
Bathroom was clean. Non-smoking room smelled like cigarettes and room change could not be accommodated. Awful soundproofing. Trucks nearby were very loud the entire night. Bedding did not look clean.
The room was modern, clean and quiet. The entire hotel has been recently updated, so it was quite nice- especially for the price! I would definately stay there again.
Friendly staff. Great restaurant next door Drains didn't work with manual handle (both sink and tub)
It was cheap and they don't charge extra for dogs. Free wifi and staff is nice. In the winter the door opening to a walkway is colder and has issues. People always walking by your window so you don't open the curtains and therefore don't get much natural light. For hotel stays that's are thru a third party like this, are given smaller than normal rooms. So our room was the smallest. Only reason I'd stay here Ever, is if I had a dog. the decor is outdated
Truck stop next door and 2 major highways in view made earplugs necessary. Room itself was fine and Italian restaurant Joey next door was good. Dennys next door too as this motel only offered a ot beverage in the morning.
Clean, affordable, comfortable. Cant ask for more then that
The employee behind the counter was very helpful. The room was disappointing compared to other red roof inns I have stayed at and I specifically asked for a smoke free room and it tracked of cigarettes the instant we walked in.
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The outside hallways and banisters were dirty.
I liked the cleanliness of the room and the free soaps and tissues! I was really impressed by the cleanliness and newness of the room given the really low price for the night. The tv was brand new and it looked like a cool place to hang out and order some food in, if we had stayed longer. I didn't like how small the bed was and I was too tired to ask the staff to switch our room. Why would the receptionist put us- a lovely young couple- in a room with two small beds?? My boyfriend thought it was romantic, I could've used a bigger blanket!
Comfortable room, clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, coffee in lobby and rooms a plus. Microwave and fridge in room. Nice place to stay for an over night trip. easy to find and plenty of parking. The air conditioner didn't work well at cooling the room. it was a noisey inn. Also some of the breakfast items were all gone and not replenished. Good
wife loves the pillows . location
Good clean rooms and the service was excellent. No problems at all. Would stay there again. Thought I was getting the room for 88.00 a nite and was charged 101.+. I realize that there is tax but that was more than tax.
The rate we booked at was great. But NO reminders close to the booking, so booking.com, or Best Western let us know about an upcoming stay, say a week prior, so gives us an opportunity to cancel, if we need to. any no flexibility by local management. I could not negotiate an extended stay or anything, with bookings.com or local mgmt. They just too my penalty. I'll NEVER book with bookings.com or Best Western again!
Hotel all around was very clean. Staff was fine. Rooms were decently sized, updated and very clean. Room was a little bit cold despite the heater being on. Fan for the heater was exceptionally noisy. Location of the hotel, although convenient, seemed a little 'seedy' - literally on the highway.
Good value and convenient to our destination. Staff was pleasant and accommodations were as pictured from website. NOISE LEVEL: The fixtures in our room were noisy. (Whenever the toilet was flushed or water run in the bathroom, there was a high pitched screech. Also, the mini-fridge and the air conditioning unit were unusually loud when they cycled.) Also found sounds traveled as guests moved around upstairs or in adjoining rooms.
Complimentary breakfast was edible Beds were relatively comfortable Hotel made sure to separate guests who would be raucous on New Years from families and other guests Lied to by staff regarding their nonexistent airport shuttle Rooms were uncomfortably cold upon arrival Front desk was inconsistently staffed, often concierge on duty would sit in a corner so upon first glance it would appear empty
An excellent hotel for an overnight stay. The rooms are very spacious and have all that one needs
Mostly clean, and inexpesive Breakfast was pretty puny....
Comfortable bed with clean white pillows and topper. Pretty quiet. Courteous staff. Banquet food was not great and the food in the restaurant (Rachels) was uninspired. overcooked shrimp, mushy scrambled eggs. super bland pasta dishes on the conference buffet. Frozen dessert products that are mediocre and probably frozen cookie dough because those were not very good either. Sorry, but I am a restaurant person and I call 'em like I see 'em. Egg salad no, but tuna salad good. Fresh nice fruit and plenty of food. Staff was nice. very casual style of service.
Surrounding university atmosphere. Cost adders (parking, etc.)
The front desk said that I could park I. A garage and use the bridge to head over. I arrived at 11 am and it's not the part of town you want to be walking in alone and I say that as a healthy 30 year old male. I park near the bridge, get all my bags, and when I cross the bridge to the hotel the door is locked. Now I've already paid for that garage and have a block and a half walk wth my stuff. The staff needs to be better educated and that will come with time. Besides that, the doors to the rooms are loud as hell but not bad as a whole.
The menu in the restaurant eleven waters needs a few more items to choose from, and the service was extremely slow
Nice and clean hotel. Good value for money.
Good location, easy access. Good value for money. Ample parking.
Close to syracuse everything was only a few minute drive. Room smelled terrible had to go buy febreeze to attempt to might it slightly better.
Good value and the restaurant was ok. Location. It was in the middle of an industrial park. When we drove up we weren't sure if it was even open.
Convenient location, continental breakfast, smoking accommodations, pool, friendly front desk staff, attractive lobby, clean room, staff readily accommodated a request for a room change. First assigned room smelled musty and had antiquated air conditioner that made a loud buzzing every minute or so.
I didn't like the fact that each room didn't have their own microwave. The beds were too firm and the curtains were ripped.
Room and bathroom appeared clean. Hotel is a little dated..carpet, etc could use replacing. Ceiling tiles in bathroom were warped and did not sit properly within frame work. Tissue box in bathroom had one tissue left.
The staff here was extremely helpfull. The hotel lobby has a home cottage look and feel that appealed to my personality. The beds were second to none and I've stayed at 5 stars that had worse beds. The breakfast was excellent especially since i had a 8 hour drive to my next destination. the hotel was comfortable and was in the process of finishing a remodelling so it was all new and looked great! The odor from the carpet glue was strong in the elevators but other then that (was to be expected with all new carpets and walls) the hotel would and will be on my remember list of places to stay in Syracuse NY
The cleanliness and business-like attitude the staff exuded. Breakfast was empty in areas and had to ask for things
24 hr hot water for tea/coffee clean comforters that are changed with each stay lots of pillows none
The hotel was clean and had a convienent location, The rooms are spacious and the staff were friendly.
This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff is friendly and very helpful with knowledge of surrounding area, directions, extra pillows, and even a nice welcome conversation. Very Clean and Highly recommended! I can't think of anything I didn't like, the breakfast area, pool, lobby, valet, and rooms were fantastic!
It was very clean, well decorated and the location was great for us. We were able to walk around Armory square sampling craft beers and getting a wide range of different types of cuisine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The valet took a little longer than expected retrieving our car, but I think the desk clerk may have forgot to call him do to everyone checking out.
Stained glass windows are abundant and beautiful. The proprietor, was welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. Breakfast was artfully presented, plentiful, and made to order. The room was a little small, but that's expected for an historic site. It was also a little dark, but was probably in keeping with decor of the period. No real complaints.
