Cons: The AC not cooling. The restaurant is very bad and small. The rooms are very small. The car parking is not free. The bathroom is small. I don't recommend to stay in this hotel unless you are looking for 2 stars hotel.

Cons: The room was too small to move in (and we paid for an upgraded lake view). The shower water intermittently changed hot to cold. The carpet was old and stained, dirty scuff matks all over the walls, and the internet was spotty. We also dealt with noise problems. Four large families, who were patrons of the hotel, were all yelling at each other outside our window late at night and their children were screaming for well over an hour. Called the night staff, nothing was done. Then later found them on our floor running up and down the halls till 2:30am. We tried to have a word with the patrons but they did not care. The night staff, who are located at their partner hotel across the street, gave no apologies nor recognition to the event and after our 4th request finally walked over and asked the large group to go into their rooms. Terrible, terrible night for way, way too much money. Use the money to upgrade your hotel. It's cleaner and better dated at a hostel.

Cons: Visiting Montreux, we were specifically looking to stay in a historic building. Upon arrival, we were surprised to see a what looked like a deserted hotel. Dragging the baggage around, we circled it trying to find an open door - then we found a note saying that the reception is located in Royal Plaza across the street. There we went and were informed that Villa Toscane is closed - but not to worry, we were getting "upgraded" to a room in Royal Plaza. Despite its creepy exterior, Royal Plaza is decent inside, although I have no idea where they get a 5 star rating... Having asked if they get many people like us, they said at least 5 today, although the false advertising didn't seem to concern them. Strange situation.

Cons: There was initially no fire safely information in the room. When supplied the fire exit indicated was poorly marked, nothing to guide anyone in the event of a fire. On checking the staircase of the emergency exit found numerous items partly blocking the stairs between the 5th and 4th floors. Did not check any further down. Hotel looked very tired, and carpets in the entrance were not cleaned for the 2 days of our stay. Fire hazard issues pointed out to the management, but not the emergency staircase issues. Breakfast very expensive for what it was.
