Pros: We loved everything. The bed was so cozy, the sheets were super soft. The ceiling was hand detailed painted. The staff were extremely helpful and sweet. The food was simply delicious.
This experience was so amazing we won't ever be able to stay at a boring old hotel again.
Cons: We loved everything. There wasn't anything we didn't like. We have no complaints.

Pros: What a wonderful stay we had. The staff was caring and attentive, The on site amenities were great, a couple of restaurants and bars, as well as a breakfast place. And just blocks from everything we needed to walk to.
Cons: The concierge level upgrade was probably not worth the price for our stay, the room was a very comfortable but normal sized.
Cons: I would recommend this hotel. It was centrally located in downtown Kalamazoo MI. My husband is a retired Delta pilot who has traveled the world and he rated our stay at the hotel, excellent! He ordered room service while we were there and the food was delicious.
Cons: 160.00 a night on a weekend?
15 a day for parking?
Pros: Location, walking distance to food, drinks, shopping
Cons: Cost, plumbing issues, elevators, sound issues. Super expensive, but the location is great. It's the only hotel in the heart of downtown, that's why they gouge ya. Jerks.
Pros: Luxury hotel. Restaurants on floor level.
Cons: Hair in tub.
Cons: Very low hot water pressure in shower, did not deliver chocolate strawberries to my room like they were supposed to
Pros: its down town, close to everything. staff was great. very clean.
Cons: rooms were kind of small and the walls were thin you can hear everyone in the halls and the rooms on either side.
Cons: My adult daughter did not sleep well because sound carried via room vent from room next door.

Cons: We couldn't find the place, got lost on airport property looking for your address on Kilgore. The Sheriff showed up and allowed us to follow him to your hotel. He commented that this has happened before! Correct your address on your website!
Pros: Service at the front desk from James was wonderful!
Cons: Indoor pool was too small to swim laps.

Pros: Very clean
Staff was very welcoming and positive
Room was small but had everything we needed
Late check out of noon instead of 11 like most places
Right off the highway near Kzoo
Cons: THe only reason why I didn't give this place 5/5 is the walls are very thin. We could hear a lot of what was going on in the rooms above and on each side of us.
Cons: NOISE that impacted my sleep so much it ruined my days in Kzoo
Cons: Very loud, walls are paper thin. Would have had a better night sleep in my car in the parking lot.
Pros: Relatively clean, nice place to stay for a night or two.
Cons: We were placed in the corner on the bottom floor and, particularly on Thursday night it was quite loud (I'm fairly certain it was the room above us that was having rather loud intercourse). You could hear every time someone flushed their toilet, which was typical, but could be obnoxious for some. I also found the bed a tad firm, but this is also a personal preference rather than an actual problem with the hotel as a whole.
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived after midnight and the front desk spent time suggesting places for my sister and I to visit the next day, even though it was very late. Also, the beds were very comfy and stocked with plenty of pillows. Overall, very happy with my stay.
Pros: Bed was comfortable

Cons: Bathroom door opens into sink area & bumps into closet door.

Pros: Very nice kitchen, loved the bigger refrigerator. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic, best I've seen in a hotel.
Cons: Pool and jacuzzi were out of order the whole weekend. They were one of the big selling points for me on this hotel and we never got to use them. Hallway down by pool reeked of marijuana. Went to leave Saturday evening and the car next to us had two guys smoking a joint in it. Couldn't go in or out of the front door without walking through a bunch of people smoking.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and attentive. Keurig coffee maker a plus.
Cons: The room had a musty, damp feel to it as if it needed a good airing out. Exhaust fan in bathroom didn't work efficiently.
Pros: Very comfortable beds, great breakfast! Clean and quiet.
Pros: I'm very satisfied with everything except unavailable double beds.
Cons: No double beds available.
Pros: This hotel has a great location. Very nice complimentary breakfast. Rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable.
Cons: No exhaust in the bathroom.
Pros: Good breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Pros: Plenty of options at breakfast and the front desk attendant was helpful in quickly getting us a high chair and booster seat for our two children.
Pros: The staff was very accommodating. Hotel Employee was very helpful upon check in!
Cons: Although this is not an issue that your hotel has any control over....the construction nearby was an inconvenience.
Pros: It is conveniently located clean and the staff was very helpful.
Pros: Very clean and comfortable
Cons: Had some minor plumbing issues
Pros: From the front desk, to the huge & super clean room to the yummy delicious the next morning to getting greeting while leaving. We will be back to this hotel-shocked it's considered a 2 1/2 star, I would rate it a 3

Cons: Yes, found look strands of hair in shower. My room was right next to outdoors basketball court and swimming pool. Very noisy.
Pros: Clean. Great pool and patio. Staff friendly and helpful.
Pros: Bedding was clean and comfortable.
Cons: Carpet was very dirty, I could not walk barefoot on it. The setting did not seem Marriott standards as I know them.
Pros: Spacious rooms, comfortable
Pros: they had a room available!
Pros: The room was spacious and accommodating.
Cons: The outside entry way to my room was not as well kept as it could have been.
Pros: Great apartment style room. Spacious, full kitchen. Breakfast included.
Cons: Had internet (wired) in room, would have liked wireless.
Pros: The room was very spacious with many features. The kitchen area had a breakfast bar, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, coffee maker, and toaster. Living room had fold out sofa. Bathroom had separate sink/vanity area and shower/toilet room.
Pros: Very Friendly Staff,
Cons: Yes. There was a man banging on the exterior door of the adjacent room and shouting obscene language from 4 am to 4:30 am. I called the front desk twice, no answer. The man entered the hotel room attacked a lady, I called the police. It was scarry.
Pros: Good breakfast.
Cons: The internet had issues. Most people travel for business. Having a weak connection or no connection needs to be improved. I stay in about 50 hotels a year. The internet connection was one of the worst I've seen.
Pros: The location is great for when I am in Kalamazoo. Centrally located near the highway and several restaurants.
Cons: The hotel is showing its age and needs an upgrade. Phones in room didn't work, WIFI cut in and out several times. The microwave had an ill-fitting turntable that burned anything you made in it. No longer a 3 star hotel.

Pros: In the morning the person very nicely gave me a map to get to a breakfast place.
Cons: Beware of the road construction, not their fault, but its a mess. Upon arriving there we were told no breakfast was being serve, it showed on my receipt we were supposed to get one. We reserved a room for three people. I guess no one mentioned that we were all supposed to share one bed. The staff smiled like Cheshire cats when I mentioned that my son was going to get his own bed and said nothing to us that we were going to end up sharing a king. The dvd player remote had no batteries and when my child was in the shower, part of it fell on him. Overall, very disappointing, oh and my allergies went haywire from the dust and animal dander in the room.
Pros: Clean rooms with great kitchenette.
Cons: Location is too remote to walk to any bars/restaurants.

Cons: Our car broke down on I-94E so we had to get a room for the night. The next day when we asked to store our luggage for a few hours while we were waiting for our car to be ready the front desk attendant seemed put out. Also we didn't realize the checkout time was 11:00 and someone knocked on our door with a rude comment. It would have been just as easy to politely notify us and acknowledge that we were rushing as fast as we could to get out of the room. Perhaps more training is needed to better understand the difficult circumstances their guests may be dealing with. We had a very difficult 24 hours and they didn't make it any better.
Pros: Room was clean, staff was friendly
Cons: Continental breakfast could have been better
Pros: Loved the room, friendly staff.
Cons: The woman running breakfast had no clue. When we got there, there were no hot entrees. I asked if we could have some more scrambled eggs, and she explained that there had been a rush, and it would be a small wait. Fine - until I looked around for something else to eat. No fruit, no knives, no milk, no oatmeal. The trash was overflowing. And in the middle of it was this woman asking everyone who came in if she could help them, then explaining that she couldn't.

-Option to decline housekeeping service in advance - green
-Very accomodating for check in/out... late check in available, later check out available.
-Not far from downtown area.. shopping, food
-Bar/Restaurant in lobby
Cons: -I expected a little higher appearance quality for the room based on the price and how pretty the lobby/exterior photos, however, it was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable!

Pros: Attentive staff and very comfortable rooms.
Pros: The cleanliness, the courtesy, and the comfort. I have to say I think I liked the breakfast most of all.
Pros: Friendly staff, delicious cookies provided at check-in.
Cons: Easy to spot hotel, but driving instructions a bit tricky with finding the right road entrance
Pros: Breakfast was good.
Cons: Hotel housekeeping staff were rude and not nice. Breakfast staff were rude.

Pros: Nice to include breakfast! Good selection, variety of items.
Pros: Short walk to food, comfortable to sleep, eat, relax and repeat.
Cons: Unsure why they needed to charge a security deposit for room damage, when they should have a signature giving permission to charge if damage on exit. Seemed like a scam, to acquire funds, and then fail to return them. Leaves guest having to check that it is refunded to their account.

Pros: I felt I was listened too when I had an issue. The room size was very nice (double queen size room)
Cons: The pool heater was broke and the water was very cold. My youngest had blue lips.
Pros: Great hot tub
Cons: Remote control was wrapped in plastic, had hd tv but they didn't spring for had channels, couch dirty
Cons: No ice machine apparent on second floor.
Slow clogged sink. in kitchenette
Shower curtain too short and missing magnets.
Pros: Very convenient location to where we were visiting friends, restaurants, stores
Cons: Bedding was dirty. Received dirty washcloths from housekeeping (looked like cleaning rags). Left our brand new phone charger in the room after checkout and nobody from housekeeping turned it in.
Pros: Clean, quite room, Good breakfast. Ideal location for access to family and the highway. Liked the fact that workout room was available. Great room location, high floor away from the elevstor.
Cons: Our was a hot tub room. Even though it was a suite we did not have a table or a sofa.
Pros: Found an large-ish piece of trash (that was unidentifiable, but resembled seaweed balled up in a clump) under the bed skirt around midnight. Brought it down to the nighttime desk clerk who did give me a $10 discount off the room.
Thought my worries were over. Was I wrong. I was awoken around 1am by very angry men swearing at each other and repeatedly slamming another man against my closed (and thankfully, locked) hotel door. This went on for about 5-10 minutes. As a woman staying by herself, I was quite scared. The next morning, I told the manager I would be canceling the rest of my stay due to the situation last night. She proceeded to tell me that the men who were outside my door last night were frequent customers, and that "they were perfectly harmless, but you didn't know that". Worst customer service I've ever had and worst hotel stay ever.
Pros: Room was large and we needed the pull out couch.
Cons: Room was not very clean, shower didn't work (dribbled out and made horrible screeching noise when turned to hot.) Metal trim on headboard was hanging off, nasty. Pool was small and hot tub was disgusting, seats covered in yellow grime.
Pros: Was very clean and nice pool and jacuzzi everyone where nice
Cons: I lot a kid and to much noise and the hole way kid where nakking at the doors
Pros: Rooms were large
Cons: The pool was disgusting and looked like it had not had a good cleaning in a long time. The bed was like sleeping on a rock and tge pillows were lumpy and not comfortable at all. Overall very disappointed
Pros: Nicely updated design of the room colors and bed linens.
Cons: Attention to room details needs to improve. The room we stayed in (316) had grout missing between the floor tiles in the bathroom. The main light in the room didn't come on, but just flickered. The light fixture in the bathroom was falling off on one side. The mattress was not firm but lumpy (but was somewhat mitigated by the soft mattress topper). all of this I could have lived with better had the the price not been so out of line with what we are used to spending for much better maintained facilities--which would be more in the $80 a night range. As it was we got a "deal" through Kayak on the room for just $113 for the night as opposed to the $135 a night we would have had to pay when I contacted the hotel directly.
Cons: How uncomfortable I felt using the jet tub. I wish there was a way to know that they actually clean them thoroughly. I went down to the front desk to get sanitizer myself. Half the reason we came was for the jacuzzi, and the jets didn't even work.

Cons: We were switched between 4 rooms before leaving to go to another hotel in the area. The first room had people in it sleeping when we entered. The second room had burned out light bulbs. The third room had not shower curtain. The fourth room had something that looked like mud covering the bed skirt and a large yellow stain on the comforter. They attempted to put us in a fifth room but we left. The young woman was very polite and appeared frustrated with the situation. Her co-worker, however, was rude and slammed a door before walking away when he heard my sister speaking to another hotel to book a room. I stayed at this hotel years ago and it was clean and acceptable. I cannot express how is has gone downhill. I would not feel safe or clean staying here.
Pros: The hotel provided a nice and comfortable place to sleep for the night. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Just a 10 min walk to the heart of downtown kalamazoo! Would stay here again!

Cons: There was an odor of urine in the room. There were a lot of dead and live bugs.
Pros: The interesting history.
Cons: Needs some TLC.
Pros: The castle is full of beautiful detail
Pros: The historic charm
Cons: The TV kept glowing at night. I do realise that most guest wish to have TV in the room. Perhaps a good, low cost solution would be some sort of ' curtain' to hide the TV. Maybe some guests like me also like the feel of being immersed in the past sans TV.
Pros: Very charming and historical hotel/home, my room was lovely (The Italian Room), and the hot tub on the roof is amazing. The complimentary breakfast is also very nice!
Pros: This was one of the coolest places you could stay. So much history! You could just walk around and check everything out for hours.
Cons: No it was all great!
Pros: Incredible historical building. You really step back in time. Very friendly staff. Awesome omelette.
Cons: A bit noisy. Bar should stay open until 10. Breakfast during the week needs to start before 730.
Pros: Very cool architecture and history. Staff was fantastic--extremely helpful and attentive. Lovely outdoor seating. Nice place to sit & have a drink.
Cons: Mattresses weren't the most comfortable but tolerable. V
Pros: The Manson is beautiful, the room was nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: We had the room Miracle and the bathroom was strange because when you turned on the shower, the whole bathroom got wet including the towels we tried to put out of the way. I would not get that room again.
Pros: Lovely place. If you enjoy history this is the place for you. Close to downtown, WMU, and Kalamazoo College. We enjoyed the breakfast and the hot tub on the roof.
Just the thought of staying in a castle. Is truly a wonderful experience. There is a hot tub outside on the roof. Which the view was absolutely gorgeous. Everyroom that you can book has a different story about it. Each room had a different use by Mr&Mrs.Henderson Over 125 yrs ago when he designed and built it. When you check in. As the caretaker is showing you to your room is also giving you the grand tour and tells you all about the history of the castle. Very friendly.. Over all it was a wonderful experience. I would definitely love to stay again. I can't wait to take my new granddaughter when she is old enough. To the princess tea party that they have once a month.
Pros: Everything about The Henderson Castle is breath taking. Its over 125 yrs old. No matter where your at. You can see the love Mr Henderson put into his home. Absolutely gorgeous.
Cons: I booked the Maple Tree Room. Specifically for the color changing faucet on the hot tub. But was very disappointed when my daughter went to use the tub and no lights. The owner was contacted and made aware of it. But didn't offer to have it fixed.
Well worth the money. Enjoyed that everyone was knowledgable with the history of the castle.
Pros: The castle is beautiful, staff was outstanding , free continental breakfast was perfect.
Cons: Parking can be challenging if any other events are going on at the property. We checked in late and there was a murder mystery dinner finishing up and parking was nearly impossible.
In addition to a casino and a nightclub, The Henderson Castle features an airport shuttle (available 24 hours) for USD 25 per vehicle. Guests can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant and visit the spa to be pampered with deep-tissue massages, body wraps, or body scrubs. A rooftop terrace and a bar/lounge are other highlights, and rooms offer conveniences like refrigerators and microwaves.
Pros: The price thru kayak. Breakfast was descent. Front desk lady was nice
Cons: Had to go to front desk for extra pillows etc. Wouldnt bring to room. Pool was cold and scummy. Rooms need repainted, bathroom toilet paper was a partial roll. My opiniom it should have been replaced for cleanliness. Heater wouldnt work correctly.
Cons: The fact that I didn't get towel service. When i finally called down for new towels I was told I had to come get them. As I was checking out towel service was offered.
The first day breakfast lasted an hour before they started putting stuff away. The next day food items were missing and I asked for a replenishment of certain food items and the lady told me she couldn't find the can opener. But you just had the food I requested out before I came down. Why can't you find the can opener. I felt they wanted to leave and didn't want to open another can of the gravy I requested. I will not be staying there ever again! I stay in hotels for a living and this was one of the worst.

Pros: I liked the fact they allowed me to cancel the remainder of my stay without explanation.
Cons: The place smelled like a chimney everywhere. My clothes and hair smelled like smoke the next day. There were no utensils or cooking pans. There was no microwave. The elevator had a thumbprint in blood on it for the entire stay, despite calling the staff to have it cleaned. Our sheet had small drops of blood on them. I didnt feel safe, and I felt dirty after I left.

Pros: I did not see any bugs. The staff seemed nice.
Cons: The sheets were worn out. The tv had no remote control. You could only get one station. The room had a strong weird smell. The staff was unable to help with the TV situation.
Cons: I didn't like how unfriendly the staff at the desk was. Also how the staff was dressed, the uniforms looked very old and it made my first impression of the hotel a bad one.
Pros: Desk staff was swift and competent.
Cons: I sprung for the "King Suite" with jetted tub. The room was lackluster. The decor was outdated and cheap. There was an included fridge and microwave but they were small, dingy 80s models. Sofa sleeper had seen better days and the mattress was like sleeping on an old army cot. Dust, cobwebs and old fixtures adorned the walls and ceiling, along with the cacks in the paint and peeling wallpaper. The parking lot could have used additional maintenence. Staff attitude toward guests is cordial at best.
Pros: Very clean. Flat screen TV, good breakfast, friendly staff. Can't beat it. I've paid twice as much for a hotel before and the service and value didn't come close to my experience here. Highly recommend this hotel!!!
Cons: No complaints
Pros: Office managers had helpful, friendly personalities. Nice to have mini fridge and microwave in room. Housekeeping did a good job, too.
Cons: I've stayed at this particular one several times and there is nothing to complain about or not to like.
However the toilet in our room was exceptionally low which may be a problem for older or disabled guests.
