1. It takes TWO shuttles to get to the rental location. So you wait twice. 2. The shuttle drops you off in the street and you need to walk to the rental office. 3. There's no ramp, so you need to drag your suitcases up the stairs. 4. The questions asked are like no other rental agreement I’ve ever got. Ever. They didn’t accept my declining of their insurance until I showed my insurance card, and told them my deductible and my insurance type. I had to call my agent for that. 5. They messed up the order and had to re do it. Given the number of initials and signatures they require it’s a lengthy process. 6. While they had staff walking around, only one person was caring for the renters. It’s a long wait. 7. When returning the car, you wait for the shuttle in the street. Never again.
Not surprising, I know, but it was worse than I’ve had in the last 10 years. I feel like rental companies used to find ways tack on fees but not so much in recent years. At Economy in LA, it’s hard yo get there. Not completely Economy’s fault, but you have to find a bus (which is totally confusing cause the bus that goes to rental cars isn’t it), to a lot to get a shuttle. When you get there, they have no bathroom, they don’t accept the insurance you paid for with your booking, and their deposit is $500 which takes weeks to get back after. Staff were nice though. Cars as clean and ready.
They are a rip off. They don’t tell you that they don’t accept Canadian insurance nor credit card insurance. They tried to charge me over $50 per day for their insurance, which more than doubled the cost. Luckily I found a nearby competitor to treat me like an important customer and solve my problems rather than create them upon arriving in LA for a family vacation. I will never use Economy Car Rental again and I will be sure to spread the message.
They never mentioned that they only open at 8, so I had to take an Uber into the airport. Kayak doesn’t differentiate from different drop off places or procedyres
There was no way to release the reservation so someone else could rent the vehicle after I canceled my trip due to the fires at my destination. I did not expect a refund on the nonrefundable reservation but I did want to release the reservation.
They don’t have customer services,
