Cons: Unlike all the other rental companies, you have to take a bus Easirent. Returning the car is also a pain because there are no signs leading you to their location. Ironically, the car's GPS doesn't have Easirents location; we had to use our phone's map app. Obviously, you have to take a bus back to the airport to catch your plane or taxi, so it's just a hassle. The price ended up not being as cheap as advertised and if I would have know, I'd have gone with Hertz.

Poor customer service
Pros: The car was fine for a day in Scotland.
Cons: Car needed oil change, customer service at airport was good. We were not told about an extra charge for dropping the car off at the downtown location when we were told it would be fine to do so. Gentleman at desk (Liem) was not understanding and did not attempt to make it right for the customer. Very disappointed in this experience.

Cons: The car that i reserved was not available. After waiting 1.5 hrs in line or for my car the manager said I could have another car. Then an hour into the trip an alert came on the dash for 'AdBlue'. Upon research the car would fail to start after the level of AdBlue was low enough. Sure enough I had to go way out of my way for this unexpected problem for which they said they would reimburse me (to which I have not yet been reimbursed). Then I was quoted at a £80 less than what I was charged. This again was a problem on their side because I had waived the liability and put a deposit on the car so I should not have been charged that £80. When I talked to the person about getting that taken care of, she said she didn't know how to go about that and would email me the next day. Of course, the day has come and gone and no email. So very disappointed with my rental experience.

Bait and switch
Pros: The car was great. Clean, worked well and no trouble. Staff had a sense of urgency and moved fast to help.
Cons: You are forced to buy insurance if you don't have a $25,000+ limit on your credit card!!! This and other hidden charges immediately double or triple the price and make you feel scammed. If you purchase the insurance online, it doesn't cover you!!! This bait-and-switch tactic of offering a low price online and then forcing you to pay extra when you are captive to the easirent counter with luggage in hand and family waiting in the rain is completely unscrupulous.
The Vauxhall Corsa was brand new, so I had to drive to a filling station straight away and fill the tank (inconvenient).

Pros: Nothing much
Cons: Over charged in an extreme way, massive wait times to check in, car had a check engine light on when received, wasn't properly cleaned before rental so my rental was delayed as they had to clean it.

Pros: The car size and relative roominess and vehicle performance.
Cons: The hard sell for additional insurance.
the fact that they did not have a basic city Map.
The car was empty of fuel and there was no easy direction of where one could purchase gas (Diesel) especially with no map.
I did not feel comfortable dealing with the sales/counter people, seemed unprofessional and not very concerned of my concerns such
as fuel level, map of area.
Also car had no users manual, which is OK except this was a diesel engine which shut off whenever there was a prolonged stop, at first I thought there was a problem with the vehicle, this could have been explained or could have been easy to determine if there was a manual in the vehicle.

Waited a good hour in the cold after completing all paperwork

Pros: Glad we went with a Intnlly known company where they treated you respectfully and didnt nickel and dime you. Reps on both sided were very pleasant and only added to our experience. Line for pick up in Edinburgh was 30 mins long and build in extra time for drop off in London bc of traffic.

Pros: -We waited in line at the Edinburgh hertz for 2 hours. Are reservation was at 10. We arrived at 10am waited in line for 2 hours. It was a terrible experience:( would not rent from hertz again, because of this experience

Pros: Everything about the experience was excellent except for insurance cost. Hertz's costs seemed very high. Being an international traveler I had no coverage from my home policy so had to take them. Kayak's additional insurance program seemed deceptful.
Cons: KAYAK's offer of additional insurance seems to be something of a charade. It's easy to say yes to a third party insurance policy while you're making the reservation. But when you arrive at your destination, late at night, in the rain and be told by the rental company that it's a third party policy that might cover something over and above what their insurance options cover, but they don't know what that may be (a reasonable response) it becomes disturbing. I certainly wasn't going to dig out the policy while standing at the rental car counter and spend 20 Minutes reading it to determine which Hertz insurance options to take. So I took them all. I imagine I was over insured, and over paid for it, but at least I had a car. But I was also very frustrated with what I had purchased through Kayak.

A Drive Trough Scotland
Pros: Audi makes a great car.
Cons: We got a flat and had to replace it . The low tire sign came on even after we had it checked. I think there was some issue with the wheel that created the flat tire. The tire was replaced after driving only about 75 miles.
Cons: The wait in line to get the car. Avis/budget were combined, preferred members jump the line, the rest of us "less preferred". Customers waited.. Close to an hour. Drop off was easy.

Mediocre Premium Class and Lots of Up-Selling at Pickup
Pros: The car was fine mechanically. Very clean when we picked it up. Drop off was quick and easy.
Cons: This was the least luxurious Premium class we've ever rented. No heated seats and the car had navigation but they had taken out the memory card so it didn't work. They didn't have our quoted rate at check-in and had to put in a discount to match the rate. Check-in took 40 minutes so they could try to up-sell us to Luxury class and CDW, etc.

Cons: Worse than average rental car gouging. Reservation was for car from 9:30am to 9:30am -- exactly 9 days. Total base price was approx $216. However, adding a second driver, whose only effect on Budget was to reduce chance of accident from driver fatigue, raised total price to about $368. We arrived at pick-up a few minutes early, and were logged in at 9:12am. However, we were given a defective car and the process of discovering this and getting a replacement car meant that we really didn't have our car until after 9:45. Our return receipt shows that the car was returned at 9:49 (19 minutes late), although at least ten minutes of this time was waiting for agent after we arrived.
Bottom line -- we actually had use of our rental car for a few minutes less than 9 days, but we were charged for TEN full days days -- that is, approximately $40 more than in our original agreement -- because they calculated that we had it for 9 days and 0.6 hours.
Previous experience with Avis, last year. Declined all extra insurance coverage with clear oral agreement at rental counter, but didn't read contract carefully and missed that I was being charged for it anyway. This almost doubled price of the rental, and Avis was adamant in refusal to correct the mistake -- or deliberate deceitful and exploitative behavior? -- of their counter agent .
Budget/Avis - a good company to avoid!

Pros: Near to my hotel, quite centralize. The car was clean and in good condition.
Cons: The drop-off point have very limited parking place and should have informed customer on any public holiday as we were not told about it. We have encountered some issues and could not find anyone to consult with despite paying so much money.
Cons: A bit too much fear factor to try and get to buy additional insurance & breakdown.

Cons: Cigarette lighter did not work so could not use my own satnav and had to buy a map.
As a rule, cars seem to be advertised as a focus / mondeo or similar and despite hiring lots of cars, I almost never receive the car that is advertised - I know the brief on this, but whole process seems a bit of a ruse.
The Excess amount to be charged for a potential incident is excessive.
Not very easy to see bumps / scuffs / chips etc on the car in the dark on pick-up or to be fair on drop-off.

Car was fine but needed attention
Pros: Car ran well and mileage was good. Size was good for narrow roads and easy to park. Service was good and quick. Price was right.
Cons: Agent didn't offer any alternatives or an upgrade. Inside of windscreen was very dirty and was bothersome when sun was shining directly in. Finally had to try to clean on our own to offer better visibility. Needs to be checked as part of vehicle pick up.

Edinburgh Road Trip
Pros: Nice Car, drove well.
Cons: They put the hard sell on you to buy there insurance, even when you already have your own and show them as much.
Cons: We made a same-day reservation and when we showed up, the agent wouldn't honor the reservation. He said they had no cars, third-party broker reservations take at least 24 hours to come through, and dismissed my 'but I have a reservation' with, "but you haven't paid anything for it yet, have you?" He was completely unapologetic and uncaring. We paid for a taxi from the train station to the airport for this reservation and ended up having to pay several times more to get one of the few available cars at a competitor at the airport. Complete failure and I'm astonished Kayak and Dollar associates with this franchise.

Cons: Company called partway through my rental to tell me to return the car because it had been sold! They offered an exchange but no compensation for the hassle of returning the car.
Also tried to claim damage with small scratches on one tire rim - I was able to prove that they were there when I rented the car. You need to run your finger around the rim when picking up the car to check for tiny scratches.
Pros: The car was great. Excellent gas mileage, handled well, and was absolutely impeccable when we picked it up. Service was kind and friendly.
Cons: The return process has been a little frustrating. First, I was not told that I would need to keep the copy of the paperwork stating our agreement to give to the Avis rep on Orkney. Had I known that, I would have put it with the other confirmations and information that I was toting around instead of panicking. Second, I found the paperwork, gave the keys to the Avis rep, he said he would get it South from there, and I had nothing further to do. Unfortunately, I got an email from Avis telling me I was in breach of contract because the car hadn't been returned. This issue has not been resolved and is currently my only frustration with the rental.
