I’ll never use thrifty again. The tactics they use to upsell additional features, insurance, etc. are deceptive.Reviewed 8 Jul 2026

The price was higher than advertised when I reserved. Insurance fee was also higher than what Kayak showed. Also the car was smaller (small SUV instead of an intermediate SUV) but at least it was new.Reviewed 5 Jul 2026

I needed to change the dates of my reservation, but was informed I needed to cancel and rebook. The website states free cancellation, however that is false advertisement. After multiple calls I was told I would get no reimbursement for my reservation. Do not offer free cancellation when you’re not going to honor it. I will not use Kayak again.Reviewed 4 Jul 2026

We reserved a mid size car. Upon arrival, only a large truck was available. For an extra $200, we were provided with a vehicle that we had originally confirmed. Weird.Reviewed 1 Jul 2026

I booked on Kayak and it states that it’s located in terminal. Which is false!!! You have to take a shuttle. I booked the managers special which should fit 5 passengers & 2 suitcases. The girl at the counter was very rude. She tells us that we will get the largest truck which is the managers special. We asked that because we don’t need such a vehicle and it would difficult to get around. She said it would cost $20 to cancel the reservation and a smaller car would cost more! We went ahead & took the TRUCK!!! It was filthy, the side mirrors kept moving when driving and the mirrors could not be adjusted electronically! This is a major hazard! I want my money back!Reviewed 1 Jul 2026

I rented a Ford Transit van to hold 7 passengers and large amounts of gear for a baseball tournament. Upon arrival I was told the vehicle was not available and a comparable vehicle would cost $500 more for the week. Instead we booked a similar car for the original cost. And now I am fighting for a refund with no reply.Reviewed 29 Jun 2026

Was advised that we would not require a deposit using Kayak. That was not the case.Reviewed 29 Jun 2026

Quite bad. I have a family of 5 and booked an Intermediate SUV which had a picture of RAV4/Toyota 4Runner in the advertisement. I was given a Kia Seltos instead. I had 4 big suitcases and 4 small carry on bags + an infant seat. To get everything to fit, I had to get the back seats to lean forward so I could get the trunk to close with all the suitcases in it. Imagine what my kids went through in the back seat for a 1.5 hour drive from Banff to Calgary! Very disappointed!! Either be honest and advertise a Kia Seltos for an intermediate SUV or accomodate your customers needs!Reviewed 28 Jun 2026
