Cons:The drop-off was a nightmare. The drop-off location was extremely difficult to find, no signage telling us where to park, where to drop the keys, etc. We had to do a lot of guessing and walking around asking and looking for help. In the end, we weren't sure we had done the right thing or that we had left the car or the keys in the right spot. The support phone number had no answer.
Pros:The staff was friendly and helpful. Not pushy about add-ons. They let us store bags for a bit until we had to leave for our flight.
Everything was excellent except the drop off at the Bergen Airport. There are no signs to indicate rental car return until after one turns toward long term parking. (Then there are ample signs.). We didn’t know the rental return was in the long term parking. Our GPS was not helpful. We circled the Airport three times and asked people in the area three times. Only after going to the Hertz counter in the terminal did we learn where the return was located. Otherwise, we were very happy with the car and with Hertz.
Great service from Hertz staff. We had reserved an economy car through Kayak and they gave us an electric car initially, which didn’t have enough range for the trip we were planning. The staff helped resolve this but there were very few gas/hybrid cars available so be aware that this may be a problem for others if you plan to drive >300km at a time. It wasn’t clear from the Kayak rental that economy meant electric.

We didn’t get the car type we reserved which was an economy car. We were notified a week before that instead it would be a small electric car. This would have been fine because it is just the two of us and the 400 km mileage would have worked well due to all the long driving days we had planned. However instead was told all they had was a 7 seat van with 290 km mileage. It really impacted our vacation. Instead of enjoying it a lot of it was spent stressed and devoting much of our time trying to find charging stations and then waiting for our car to be charged. Very unsatisfactory.

The Hertz location had an self service kiosk and agents. The posted closing time was for the self service kiosk, not for the actual office with agents. I got to the location before closing time for the office, but they were gone and closed an hour before the posted closing time. I attempted to use the self service kiosk to pick up the car, but the kiosk displayed a computer error. There were many others who were trying to pick up their car at the same (Oslo central station) location. We called the listed number but the agents initially said they would send someone. TWO hours later, we called, and the agent now told us to spend money to take a taxi to a different location for pickup and said the taxi fare will be reimbursed. There was no instructions on how to obtain reimbursement. I took a taxi to the other location, which was also a self service kiosk. Due to numerous server connection problems, it took over 30 minutes to get the car. The return location was now also changed from my original booking location and I had to take another taxi after returning the car. Overall process for pick up and return was terrible, took 3 hours and extra money for travel--absolutely unacceptable. I will not be booking with Hertz again and will strongly caution anyone against using Hertz in the future.
