Drop off was easy. Other than that, horrible experience. Did web check in so I could skip the line (their words). Ha! Had to wait in 2 lines. Took over an hour. Then was given a car with over 60K miles, no floor mats, holes in the interior , weird stains everywhere. I would have taken it back or refused it but we were already tired of waiting in line.Reviewed 17 Jul 2024

I thought Dollar rent a car did a great job in regards to the experience picking up the car and dropping it off, the only negative that I have for them is that they are not at the airport!! They are about 5 minutes down the road but that was not given in the information from kayak. There's a shuttle that picks you up at the airport and it comes every 15 minutes. But for the day that I arrived it took about a half an hour or more for the shuttle to arrive. So with that said, the car they provided was great. The experience checking in and out was great but it needs to be stated that they are not at the airport.Reviewed 17 Jul 2024

Nothing. Kayak pulled a fast one on me. They pulled a bait and switch. Worst experience for a car rental. I ordered a passenger van for at least 8 people and the description said Ford Transit of something similar. They had a picture of the van plus the description on the Kayak website. Payed up front for the rental and I called dollar Rental a week before my vacation trip to verify that they still had my van. The representative at Dollar assured me that it would be a Ford transit van for at least 8 people. Walked into Dollar rental on the day of and they had a Chysler van for us. Nothing remotely close to the Ford Transit passenger van! I ask the manager and they told me that they never have those on their lot. That Kayak does this all the time. Bait and switch. Had to upgrade to a bigger vehicle because they would not honor the Kayak website deal. Spend an extra $900 on top of the $500 for the Kayak website deal. Horrible experience, and I will never rent a car from Kayak or Dollar rental again. Not goodReviewed 16 Jul 2024

Checkin (done by internet was somewhat smooth, which made the whole process faster). But Dollar needs an app! The web process is hardly perfect and froze partway through the first time. As for SFO, the rental garage is consistently mislabeled -- multiple signs claim that Dollar pickup is on 3rd floor when it is in fact on the 1st floor! Seriously, how is stupidity of this sort possible? Why was this not fixed on DAY ONE?Reviewed 16 Jul 2024

Absolutely terrible! Got to the rental center and the dollar check in line had 40-45 people ahead of us with 3 check in people. We waited for 10!mins and when the line didn’t even move we walked away and never rented the car. It would have taken us about 1.5 hrs to get to the front of the line. Car was pre paid and non refundable so lost the money on the car. Every other car rental company had 2-5 people in the line.Reviewed 14 Jul 2024
