Once we learned the facility was about 1/3 mile from the Iceland airport and could not find a Sixt booth or their shuttle at the Iceland airport, we decided to walk to the facility in the rain & wind. Otherwise, the check in & check out process was ok and the vehicle served us well in our travels around Iceland.Reviewed 23 Apr 2024

The car we were given was damaged by a previous crash including missing parts, scratches and dents. Part of the underbody started falling off while we were driving on the highway. Sixt admitted to not inspecting the underside of the car but is claiming we are at fault and we should have crawled under the car in the dark and snow at 6am with a flashlight to inspect the underbody at pickup. They then tried to force us to pay 50000 ISK for underbody damage, refusing to give us any breakdown or details. We feel that they are attempting to defraud us and will never use Sixt again.Reviewed 20 Dec 2023

I have rented cars in Iceland many times. This experience was considerably better than most. The Sixt attendants were much friendlier and reasonable than other experiences I have had with other rental car agents there.Reviewed 2 Oct 2023

I absolutely had no customer service when I had an issue I needed to deal with midway through the rental. I emailed 5 different email addresses with my concern and had to drop it off still unresolved. 2 weeks later they billed me for the parking ticket that I had the proof it was paid.Reviewed 28 Sep 2023

The guy at the counter both times we rented was HORRIBLE. We will never rent from there again. Couldn’t understand him, he was condescending, and made up charges to charge us more for every little thing and acted like it was our fault for not picking all these things that ARE NOT on the web form. When we had issues we couldn’t reach the location by phone to get help. Sixt is AWFUL in Reykjavik.Reviewed 29 Oct 2022

The price they quote is essentially not real. They upsell you hard at the airport after you've made the reservation. They also basically tricked us into adding an additional driver because my wife's name was on the cc. Even though they admitted I was the one on the account and only needed my signature and proof of insurance. They also charged a prime location fee!! Like it's a privilege to pick up a rental car at an airport. There price here also doesn't include full mileage. And the additional cost to get unlimited mileage was basically double what they quoted to rent the car in the first place. (Quote~$350, Unlimited miles~$316). The cost is not the frustrating thing. It's the dishonesty and the tricks they pull. Just tell me what it costs from the get go. Don't give me the bait and switch nonsense. And basically make up stuff and play tricks to nickel and dime me after I made a reservation. Ultimately I think Kayak should know their antics. Because they're using the site to promote fake rates to get people in the door. Knowing nobody is going to start shopping around for other rental cars after at the airport coming from an international flight.Reviewed 20 Oct 2022

The car was fine. And there was a car ready when we got there. But other than that we were pretty disappointed. The guy at the counter tried to upsell us on everything, he was purposely obscure. on the website when we ordered it told us the mileage was unlimited but he said that we had only paid for like 500 km and had to pay more to get unlimited. We also chose times on the webpage to match our flights for pick up and drop off but he said that everything was marked as noon and wanted to charge us an extra day. we were seriously disappointed. Then when we were done, we realize that we were going to be turning the car in before they opened in the morning but the number he gave us to contact them was corporate and we couldn’t get through. We literally had to drive back to the rental car company a day early to find out if we could return it the following day prior to business hours. going to Reykjavík, use Budget, Hertz or Avis because they’re actually inside the airport. I have never used any of those three at the airport so I am not saying the service will be any better, but at least you will not have to walk back to the airport once you turn your rental car in in the freezing rain.Reviewed 18 Oct 2022

I tried to change pickup location to a location they claim to have on their website, but they said no. I then asked them to cancel the reservation, which they said they’d do, but did t. I ended up having to rent another car at another rental place (located in Reykjavik and absorb the $130 cost. From the Sixt reservation. I never actually picked up or used the car, but I did pay for it. 😩Reviewed 4 Oct 2022

Painfully slow pickup process and pretty indifferent service at the car drop off. Happy with getting a free upgrade which made up for it a little, but I only had so much time in Iceland and I felt too much of that was just wasted waiting to get my carReviewed 2 Oct 2022

Dropped our car off in the pouring rain and Karoline went out of her way to drive us to the terminal instead of having to wait for the shuttle bus! Highly recommend.Reviewed 30 Sep 2022
